Countless crimes are committed in the name of an unspecified, undefined DIVERSITY.
In this case Crist commits the worst crime by insisting on “diversity” on the courts, regardless of judicial merit.
The Post commits a lesser one by throwing a bone to the conceept of diversity.
American sports provides the best illustration of the folly of the benefits of “diversity.” Have you ever known a team to go into the football, basketball or baseball draft looking for a player of a particular ethnic background. Never! They always draft on MERIT, that one who can perform best on the field of play.
Why should public service be any different?
For my part I don’t care if the police or fire department is composed of all white or all black personnel—as long as they are the best in their line of work.
I suspect that this “diversity” stampede has its roots in a political need for votes from a political ethnic group and has continued to be posed as some kind of esoteric social benefit. It is nothing of the sort. This nation excells because of an emphasis on merit in all endeavors, not diversity.
