The Palm Beach Post must be thrilled, the inmates are running the asylum. Saturday Night Live used to have a segment with a perpetual liar, played by Jon Lovitz, who would constantly think up lies upon lies until he came up with, what he thought was, a good one.
First of all, this Congress and this President do not want this country to be energy independent and still use oil. They believe, and where they get their information I’ll never know, we can do this and not import oil. I’d love to know how they’re going to explain the fact we’re still importing oil 50 years from now.
I’m sure the military could work around drilling rigs in the Gulf of Mexico and this is what the Post’s bipartisan group comes up with. Let’s get real here. If Obama and the Democrats have their way, jet fuel will cost so much money, we won’t have fighter aircraft and our airline industry will be down the tubes. That’s what’s going to happen with cap and tax, which the Post won’t write an editorial about.
If, as a country, we really want energy independence, we drill, charge the oil companies extra fees for their drilling, take those extra fees and put them into alternative energy industries, then we have the best of both worlds. Instead, we have people who want to finish this energy source before its time, without finding the next source, and all of that without nuclear power.
Sorry, the President is wrong, the Democrats are wrong, the bipartisan Congressmen are wrong, and the Post is wrong.
Th USA has more oil reserves than any other nation, so we are being foolish in the so-called attempt to become energy independent if we coninue to allow environmental extremists to stop or delay oil drilling. Modern technology has made drilling safer for the environment.
Oil is the producte of a NATURAL process and using it for its energy makes more sense than destroying the economy for the next 20 years until alternatives are fully ready to provide what we need.

Thank you for an informative editorial. We will be having a special election August 4 in our State Senate district, to replace Ken Pruitt. I hope Joe Negron and Bill Ramos will tell us how they plan to vote on drilling for oil, as well as what they will do to fund Tri-Rail.

What I would like to know is which three house members wouldn’t sign that letter.
