Port St. Lucie park tract won’t be sold
Although the city sent no notice of Monday's public hearing to neighbors of a 2-acre park site between Delos and Chari avenues and Batavia and Daniff streets, neighbor Terry Anderson was surfing the city's Web site last week and spotted a notice that the tract could be declared surplus property suitable for affordable housing.

Fluoride issue will go to Stuart voters Jan. 29
Voters will have to wait until next year to weigh in on whether to fluoridate the city’s drinking water.
In a 3-0 vote Monday, commissioners decided to put the fluoride question on the ballot of the Jan. 29 presidential primary, instead of having a November vote. A fall referendum probably wouldn’t draw as many voters as the January election, especially since there might not be any other matters to decide in November, city officials said.
Bambi-monium ensues as owner, animal caregiver brawl over fawn
What began as an effort to resuscitate a starving baby deer Sunday turned into a fight between owner and caregiver, who bit the owner after he snatched his deer off the examining-room table.
Neither faces charges in the incident. The deer died after the scuffle.
It had belonged to Joseph A. Biemiller, a Port St. Lucie resident and Okeechobee rancher, who bred the deer from a male and female he bought at an auction for $350 each, he said. He had planned to sell the only baby for upwards of $750.
