I think it is fair to say. Here is why:

Illegal aliens have several things that make them 50% of the reason for incrased gang violence.

So here are the ingredients: a) broke the law before, and did not get caught

b) extremely low educational level, and therefore ability to earn comptetive wages

c) feeling of separate ‘community’ that includes: language, modes of behaviour and certain ‘expectation’

d) desire to make money any way possible.

That’s why I would venture to guess that hispanics that represent 99% of illegal imigrants here would be more likely involved in crimes that ‘make money’ (sort of like a job: meaning drugs, extortion, etc),

while gang members that are have a majority of blacks would be more likely to just simply have the ‘tough’ out-law way of behaviour that is simply ‘accidently’ intermixed with drug dealing and car stealing.

Also I think if Florida law would prevent law abiding citizens from having and using their firearms in self-defence — gang related violence that involves normal people would be even worse.

1) short (if at all prison sentences), for below 21 offenders

2) public school system that promotes mediocracy and excuses poor behaviour

3) lack of any parental responsibility

4) lack of immigration enforcement that allows uneducated, low-skill workforce flood the state, Therefore causing even larger income, language and social status desparity. This always causes the desire to make a ‘buck’ by whatever means possible (and that’s why the list of crimes includes singificant number of ‘money-making’ crimes)

Essentially, the only thing that needs to be discovered here, is why our laws are not being enforced.

And the authorities who failed to enforce them (judges including) must be removed from their positions and replaced by authorities who care to actually make a difference.

Most violent gang activity is caused by governments’ War on Drugs. Police know this, and many are now speaking out on all the reasons that the popular drugs, particularly marijuana, shoud be legalized for purchase by adults, just like alcohol. This would take all the drug dealers off the streets and bring a quick end to competition among them for territory. The incidence of violence would plummet and neighborhoods previously unsafe would become tranquil again.

Why is it that everytime that we turn on the television and open up a newspaper and they are speaking about gangs is it that we always seems to see the faces of African-Americans and Hispanics. Lets not forget that there are white gangs and they are some what more organize than the blacks and the hispanics gangs because of their up bringing and lack of living in poverty. I think that this is a way for society to give blacks and hispanics negative image. Lets not for get that we dont own boats, jets, and labs were drugs are made and shipped. How about starting at the top of our problem and working our way down to the gangs and count how many white americans we would have in jail. You guys tend to put the street guys in jail for drugs and gangs. But will that stop crime. Im sure it would’nt because he would just be replaced by another kid who is living in poverty who just want some of the things that others have in life. My whole point is that, it is not just blacks and hispanics and most crime if you really cared to pay attention is organize by upper class white americans who just want to keep their hands clean and make under privelage people seems as if they are at fault for whats going on. Start at the top and see how much gang and drug crimes would drop. But they dont want to do that because that is where most of the taxes are getting paid from and these so called big establishments that got started because of white drug lords. If they are gonna use our kids to push their drugs and least put some money back in our community. Never the less we dont even want your money. And stop police from taking drugs from drug bust and putting them back on the streets for them to make profit. Lets not forget that everyone plays a part in the community.

We need a significant chahge in the legal system to establish a gang crimes law. under such a law,if one member of a gang commited a felony,all members would be guilty as accessories to the crime.this would discourage some individuals from joining gangs.It would induce some members to restrain criminal minded members.Those gangs that are largely criminal enterprises would be completly removed from society at one time. If theere is a serious desire to curtail the gang problem,serious effort by the state and federal legislators is required

Look it’s not just Florida. Be glad the Governor has the nerve to talk about this issue. In the Washington D.C. suburbs of Virgina and Maryland vast amounts of money have been restributed from the rest of the country to millions of people. The gangs there are some of the worst on the East coast. what is happening is what has been happening in California for decades. Illegals and their children have no sense of what following the law is. Unless somehow we stop the lawlessness at our borders its going to get worse. Forget about this nonsense of they have no hope. How do we give them hope when they have no fathers and are walking criminals in the first place. Mine the borders and shoot to kill. That will solve. Any one caught in a gang should get the express lane to the electric chair. Where is Jackson and Sharpton on this issue?

Yes it’s really that bad here. I don’t leave my house at night alone, I get scared to just go out to my vehicle if it’s dark out. If it’s dark when I leave to go to work I’m scared. I was harassed for being white in a neighborhood mostly of Latinos while out for a walk during the day. If I had the financial backing to get me the heck outta here I’d be gone.

Dee, You should move east into Boynton Beach. Our leaders tell us that we don’t have a crime problem. Our Mayor says that Mall shooting was an isolated thing and could have happened anywhere. I guess the break in to my home and car were also isolated events. LOL

Funny, a few people pointed out that the gangs are poor blacks with no hope. Thats stating the obviouse, but funny how everyone assumes they are black. Lake Worth is mostly hispanic and i would say the same for Broward and Dade. I lived in florida for 30 years and was a 4th generation native to Plam Beach County. But after the Taxes Insurance and crime i decide it was not longer a place to raise a family. The investigation is a waste of time and money and South Florida is just a Sunny Place for Shady People.

-Any kind of decent paying low skill job was shipped overseas years ago. -Real middle class income has been replaced by a Beacon Score on how much you can borrow. -Our “leaders” squander our nation’s fortune in idiotic adventures over oil. -We’ve kicked and screamed about our population problem for decades…and done nothing as millions more sneak in to claim what was ours. -We allow the richest to get richer, the more powerful to lock up ultimate power and watch as the United States our grandparents built slides into second world banana republic status…where 5% of the people own all the wealth and the rest of us get scraps.

A recent HBO special interviewed a member of LA’s Bloods street gang. He said the gangs gained power when people lost hope. Bush’s 2007 America has lots of debt, expenses, charges, fees, corruption, violence, apathy….I ain’t seeing a lot of hope.

Since I grew up here in South Florida (West Palm Beach area) it saddens me to see how much and how quickly it has declined. Gangs were not something we had to worry about when I was in school. My sister-in-law and brother-in-law were in the Boynton Beach Mall on Christmas Eve when the infamous “shootout” occurred and could have been killed simply by doing their Christmas shopping! I moved my family out of west Lake Worth 2 years ago because of the surrounding areas of my neighborhood becoming so dangerous (the house next door was shot at in the middle of the night due to my neighbors son owing money for drugs to a dealer.) They were all known gang members. I couldn’t shop at the nearby Albertsons without having my children subjected to brawls between couples where in one instance a man involved left his place in the check-out line to retrieve his gun from his car! My husband and I moved our family to west Boynton Beach into a nice quiet neighborhood but soon realized that no one is really safe anywhere after yet another “shootout” occurred on the street of Jog Rd. just down from where we live now between the police and two bank robbers that had fled after robbing a bank in Lake Worth. I suppose we will sell our home and move out of state like most other couples with young children are doing these days. With the high crime, price increases in taxes, insurance and frequency of hurricanes, what other options do we really have? I refuse to let my children be products of what the South Florida enviornment has become.
