i feel soooo bad for you folks. people don’t understand that fighting for peace is like having sex to save chasity. these hateful people with problems, the devil runs from one person to the next across the land. it is easy to see that love is the answer. mr norman borden and his friends know about love, i know they do. they were caught up in the hype like so many lemmings. gangs are only here to do what the others have failed to do. to keep peace in the lowest of the lowest neighborhoods. where our tax dollars don’t reach. where the poor are victimized by one another in some sort of bone chilling dance of “what about MEE!” where FU means “hello, how are you my friend?” it is a shame that the accomplice to this murder was also suspected of the killing of a babysitter years ago. a crime that has been swept under the rug. karen slatery did not get justice! the cops who covered it up know full well what they have done. so does the real murdered who most likely still walks among us. yes, i mourn for the loss of those people, they were wasted for no good reason.

First of all: killing in self defense is not “murder.” And it is false to say that “all killing is wrong.” Besides, when a criminal comes to kill you, and it’s you or him going to die, you are fully in the moral right if you kill him to stop him from killing you (or any other innocent person). So many of you people have that a*s-backward, it makes you look retarded.

Second of all: There was no way for Mr. Borden to know that the occupants of the vehicle were not about to exit with guns blazing at him. He still felt threatened, obviously. End result, two dead useless-drains-on-society. (Hint: you ain’t gonna change my mind about that. They even admitted that their intent, when going over there, after picking up a known leader of the violent Sur-13 gang, was to physically harm Mr. Borden!)

Third: “Fed up with GANGS,” you would do well to take the lesson to heart: the fact is that having a gun is the best way to be able to protect your own safety. Face it, the idea of calling the police when you are in danger is absolutely ridiculous. Why, if the police were all that’s needed, didn’t Mr. Borden simply call them to save him from a speeding vehicle bearing down on him? (That question answers itself: DUH!) If you want protection, don’t count on someone else to provide it: no one is ever going to care as much about protecting your life as YOU will. So go ahead and get that gun; and get properly trained in how to use it, the legality of using it, and most importantly, develop the mindset to be able to use it.

Again, no one is defending gang warfare, violence, whatever you want to call it. It just seems to me that those in the majority in this country (whites) don’t EVER want to understand the plight of others. One writer was correct in saying that just because a group of kids hang out together doesn’t make them a gang, but you see routine characterization of one on one violence by minorities as “gang warfare”. One of the men involved in the Boynton Mall shooting has stated that none of that involved gangs, just guys taking small disputes way too far, which is sad. And the woman who wrote about the gangs up and down Tamaring Ave. demonstrated that she has NO CLUE about what goes on because there aren’t “gangs” up and down Tamarind. To be sure there are criminals in that area and thats a BAD thing, but to characterize it as “gangs” is simply NOT TRUE. And she stated where her ignorance comes from in saying “we only see what is put in front of us.” Well I understand that sentiment if all you know about minorities comes off the six o’clock news. But along Tamrind, in Riviera Beach, and Lake Worth, there are thousands of people who are hard working, law-abiding citizens who make up the majority of the community. We live in a sensationalistic society where everything is over-hyped. Its sad that this man had to use deadly force. Its sad to see more youngsters dying for the stupid things young people do, and by the way, this isn’t the FIRST generation of young folks doing stupid things. This is just the first to be so villified for youthful stupidity. I’ll end with a true story. A friend of mine lives in what most of you would call a “high crime” area in the south end of the county. One day, a white co-worker came by his home, which is a small neat, quaint home for a visit. My friend has a rocking chair on his elevated porch. The white co-worker sits on the rocking chair and begins a conversation. This occurred on one of those cool, cloudless February days that the snowbirds come here for. As the white guy rocks in the chair, he says, surprised, to my friend, “you know, its REALLY QUIET AND PEACEFUL AROUND HERE!” My friend retorted, well, did you think we were all swinging from trees with guns hanging from our waists and piles of drugs on every corner? If we would take the time to get to know one another, we would be less inclined to put people in pigeonholes in which they don’t fit. That would be civilization.

As I read through all of this I see “What happened to the sancitiy of life” and “White people are racist” Sorry people wrong answer, do you think for one minute that any gang member gives a rip about the sanctity of your life? Do you think they will change? I am sorry that there was a loss of life period. The death of anyone is always someones child. How different would this story be if the man didnt have a gun and was brutally beaten and murdered by this gang? Would all of you be screaming that this man was deprived of his civil liberties? Would you say that the Hispanics or Blacks were racially targeting this white man? H-I-P-P-O-C-R-A-T-E-S. When you can look in the mirror and see that you are a human and not a black man, white man or hispanic man then you know you are not a racist.

This case reminds me of the Bernard Goetz “subway vigilante” case from NYC back in the mid-80’s. Most residents in the city applauded the fact that Mr. Goetz stood up to the punks that attempted to rob him and shot them. Similarly, I believe Mr. Borden’s shooting, while it may seem extreme in firing the 9 extra shots, was reasonable considering how threatened he felt by these thug hoodlums. If more law abiding citizens would shoot and kill these gang vermin when they try to commit crimes against society, the balance of power between the criminal and the citizen would shift quickly. I only wish there were more gang members in the car when Mr. Borden opened fire! Thank you Mr. Borden for taking these thug gangsters off our streets. I hope the jury acquits you immediately and justice will prevail!

As I sit here and think about the hateful things that these people have written makes me think. Yes I know if your around a gang member automatically means your associated (which shouldnt be legit). Also We stated that he was a good kid. Which he was and yes he ultimatly has paid the price BUT what I dont get is that this murderer is calling it self defense? Ok self defense he shot 5 freekin times in the front window? No, he didnt want it stop there he had to unload nine more through the drivers side window. All this from guy stating he was being harrassed? Ok if he was soo harassed why did he show up for our family party’s and get togethers? Oh cause he felt like he was so bothered by Chris right? Christmas, Thanksgiving, even News years eve…It’s heartbreaking to see all the ignorance and hatred in these comments. I also do thank the few people for there respect. If you only knew~

All I want to say is HOORAY for Mr. Borden. He stood up for himself against these GANG members. I am so sick of feeling terrified every time I get out of my car at night and go inside with my son alone waiting for my husband to come home. I hate thinking that my only protection is to buy a gun. These gang members should all be shot in the head and left for dead. We all need to stand up against this type of terror. To Chris’s family I am sorry you lost your son because losing a child is terrible but if he wasn’t riding around with gang members maybe he would be alive. He was not a nice kid if he chased that guy down. Your son and his friends terrorized this man and probably others too, how do you feel knowing he did that? And the idiot who posted that white people always think its the black people in gangs your the racist one for putting it on us. If I walked through tamarind where most of this gang violence occurs what color skin would I see? By the way it is 2007 so get over yourself with this black people are being persecuted. We only see what is put in front of us. There is bad in every race but why is it that when it is a black person under arrest from a white person we’re racist? YOUR RACIST!!! I only hope the rest of these gang members get what they deserve, trust me I work for a bank who was robbed last year by gang members and I wish I could have shot them in the head for the fear and terror and nightmares they put me through!!

The first five shots were justified if Mr. Bordon felt his life was being threatened, but the remaining 9 shots were over board. The threat had ceased and he continued to fire like a vigilante. For that he should be charged with murder of the two who died. To the family, what was your child doing out at that time with “known” gang members? It’s horrible what you may be experiencing, but I read your same comments over and over again about boys and young men who are murdered in these testosterone gang wars. “He was such a good kid” and “He never did anything wrong” or “He was such a loving giving person.” Yet here he is dead due to gang violence while hanging out with gang members. He may not be in a gang but I’ll tell you what my parents told me and what I’ve told my kids, “you are guilty by association and if you don’t want to be affiliated as being a part of a specific affiliation then you better stay away from it.” Probably a good time to teach your other children this same lesson.

I am appalled at all these posts saying that its ok to kill. What happened to “sanctity of life” or “culture of life”? None of us, well, most of us didn’t know the boys who died and don’t know if it was truly a self defense situation. I DO know that if the Jeep stopped after the first five shots, there’s no need to go over and keep shooting nine more times. Just walk away at that point. You’ve defended yourself adequately. That action takes this out of a self defense situation. Every person has a right to his/her life, no matter if they’re gang members, KKK members or right or left wingers, no one should be able to take it from them just because they feel afraid/”threatened.” Nine additional shots after the threat subsides?! For “fed up” and those of your ilk, that is NOT self defense, its murder. And I’m no apologist for gang members or other”drags on society”, I’m just saying that you can’t kill someone just because you disagree with their lifestyle and you can’t go further than necessary to protect yourself, i.e. nine extra shots at close range. I thought we were supposed to be civilized?

I do not like gangs, find them to be of no use to society. They are there for the sheer purpose of causing destruction. Yes, there are dangerous individuals in these gangs. The law states a law biding citizen “has the right to stand his or her ground and meet force with force.” The first 5 shots “may have” fell into the legal defination of the law. That’s “if” Mr. Borden can “prove” his life was in danger and if force was being caused to him. After that, when the vehicle came to a stop, the remaining 9 shots are murder. No if, and’s or but’s about it. If I were on the jury, I would have to find Mr. Borden guilty regardless of how I feel about gangs. Just for those of you who plan on replying, I am a mother and grandmother. I do not support gangs, but I do believe in the law. Which means the laws of this State protect all of us regardless of where we are from, who we associate with, what color we are. Period

To Chris’ family: I am sorry for your loss, and it is wrong to kill anyone. But doing so out of self-defense should be OK. Are you hearing what people are saying? Your son was riding around in a car with KNOWN GANG MEMBERS, looking for and causing trouble. You, yourself, were not there and cannot pass judgment on Mr. Borden, either. Obviously, he felt there was a good reason to shoot KNOWN GANG MEMBERS. If your son wasn’t IN A GANG, then he shouldn’t hang with gang members, because that’s what happens. You are who you hang out with! Again, sorry for YOUR loss.

I hear so much hatred in the hearts of some of the people that made comments. Anytime, a group of children of a different race other than white hang out together, they are automatically labeled gang members. No, I do not know the family but to make sick comments like this is soooo…. very sad. Anytime a life is taken, you should never rejoice. I pray for everyone involved even the murderer. For those of you who thinks that killing each other is OK should be shameful. All I can say is SHAME, SHAME, SHAME and may God have mercy on your little sick and reprobate souls. Remember, NO MERCY given NO MERCY shown. No matter how you may feel about another person or race of people, you should never celebrate and rejoice when someone is murdered. So I say- I pity your soul and your life.

To “The Family”… Maybe your son wasn’t in a gang…maybe he was a “good kid” as you claim, but if he wasn’t in a gang, and he was a “good kid”, what was he doing in a car with known gang members in a drug infested part of town? Was it his way of doing charity work for the Church? Was he tutoring these gang kids in math or biology? Don’t be so naive… your picture of your kid and what he was doing in real life rarely match up because parents don’t like to think their kids can make such poor choices. It amazes me how every kid who is killed or overdoses on drugs is described as a “good kid”, what is the requirement for that? just a pulse apparently. If he was where the good kids hang out instead of in a car with gang members, he would still be alive most likely. It was his choice, not yours, so don’t take your frustration out on law abiding and fed-up citizens that view this as one less gang thug wanna-be running around town.

I cant believe what I read in these comments. We are Chris’s family and to think there are these insensitive people running around here saying its OK to shoot him several times? I can tell you Chris WASNT a gang member! All of this media hype is making him look like a bad kid which he wasnt. We (the family) cant even go to the hearing due to all of the media “turning” things around. Do any of you have children? Do you know what its like to get that call? Stating your child has been MURDERED. Its the worst thing ever. Then you have to tell his siblings? To see there faces. We never want to experience this again..Its an ongoing thing. Our grief will NEVER end. I dont understand how people on here can hate someone they never knew. If they knew Chris and how much he loved people they would’nt be so fast to judge him. In the end Chris was loved so much that it hurts everday not to hear his voice, laughter, making jokes or feel his touch. Please dont take advantage of your children or loved ones and let them know how much they mean to you. So in the end you dont go to there grave to say all the things you think you may have missed~

There is no reason why violent criminals should have more rights than those who would be their victims. That’s why we have the “Stand-Your-Ground” (Castle doctrine) law. It’s so that people who are threatened can assert their God-given right to protect their own lives — just as Mr. Borden did. It’s a travesty of justice that he is facing charges for ridding our community of known violent gang members with long arrest records. Thank you, Mr. Borden. I’m sorry for your troubles. May you prevail.

It’s well-known that the scum that Mr. Borden dispatched were gang-members, worthless pieces of garbage and a drag on human civilization. They went looking for trouble and they found it. Too bad for them. It’s a shame that Mr. Borden, who did our community a favor, has to face charges. The “Stand-Your-Ground” law should apply in his case, and it should be trumpeted far and wide, to put criminal scumbags on notice that the good people can and will fight back and eradicate them.
