I don’t believe it. Rush still rocks.

After all these years, they still maintain the power and the momentum they’ve had since the early 80’s (when they hit it big).

Rush in the studio is one thing, but live Rush is quite another. All the hi-jinks that Rush is capable of (Count Floyd’s intro to The Weapon during the p/g Tour, Jerry Stiller’s cameo during the R30 Tour, etc.) is just amazing. I mean, leave it to Rush to feature the boys from South Park in the intro to Tom Sawyer.

A lot of songs they haven’t played in a while have been brought back. Witch Hunt hasn’t been played since the Power Windows Tour, and Entre Nous hasn’t seen the light of day since the Permanent Waves tour, when it was played one time.

Anyways, great to see Rush still going. The rest of this tour will be kickass!

The WPB show was just so good. I am a seasoned show goer and this was and incredible evening with RUSH.I think they played 27 songs that last nearly three hours in total. For those of us who were able to attend the start of of this tour, were the first people too hear “Entre Nous” live.

Why does any Rush fan want them inducted into the totally unimportant and unofficial R-n-R Hall of Fame?

Cleveland’s music museum is no more prestigious than having their pictures posted on the wall of the neighborhood pizzeria.

When a true R-n-R Hall of Fame is created that doesn’t have bands pay to be inducted by record companies, then we may have something. For now, it is a national embarassment.

The show was fantastic! This was my 8th time seeing them and the boys are as awesome as ever.

Clashny, you don’t get out much do you?

Andy, get a life and maybe you will get it.

Just a few comments. Andy, bud, guessing you would have been better of at home watching Metal Mania on VH1 Classic. Clashny….suppose the same applies for you. What astonishes me is folks like you guys who can’t see past your desire to relive some long dead moment of glory from high school so please do us all a favor, grow with it or get out of the way for someone who can.

Having said that what I do know, the show was as good or brtter than ever. Different? You bet it was and thank God for that. I love seeing what these guys will do next. Also, had a 10-12 year old kid next to me who was absolutely immersed in the entire three hours. That a child gets it and some others don’t…odd that.

Anyhow, will see one more show on this tour when I take my nephew to his first live Rush show. Funny, it’s all new to him and he loves it all…new and old.

So thanks guys…keep it up. There are plenty of us out here who will now wait to see what comes next.

The concert was a sign of relief that the ole guys can still play rock and roll, play it great and keep it entertaining. When Neil Peart is 60, I plan on seeing him again with even better new material because he doesn’t miss a beat.

I saw the opening show in Atlanta with my nine year old son. It was another incredible performance and a special occasion for me sharing my favorite band with my son. He yelled at me “I never want to miss them again” He gets it…Andy on the other hand, you never will. I have attended all tours since Signals at 15 years old and vow to attend as many shows as possible till Rush or myself calls it an end.. Do yourself a favor and introduce someone to Rush in concert. Then you will be somebody’s hero!

Aaah let’s see…One of the 2 still extant premier Rock bands from the 70s (the other is Aerosmith) KICKED SOME GLUTEUS MAX on Friday in WPB but we get the ire of those whose bands DIED long ago. Well it is too bad that those bands had a multitude of issues such as HUGE egos, drugs and alcoholic problems, lack of musicianship, etc…RUSH has never suffered any of these maladies. To quote wikipedia: “Rush boasts 23 gold records and 14 platinum (3 multi-platinum) records, making them one of the best-selling rock bands in history. These statistics place Rush fifth behind The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, KISS and Aerosmith for the most consecutive gold and platinum albums by a rock band.” And you still say they do not deserve Hall of Fame Status but your loser band does? STFUP!!!!

What can I say, Im speechless as always, after seeing the best band in the world. They still prove to be the best, no matter how old they are. I was fortunate enough to share my love of RUSH with my fiancee, who has never seen the band live, and watch the astonishment on her face,as these geniouses do what they, and I love so much, Rush music….

What can you say, they’re the best. It’s always one of my favorite times of any year, when Rush tours. Had I hit the lotto on Saturday, they would have had an extra roadie, pro bono. Thank you Rush on another awesome show!

I am now 38, my brother and I grew up on this band our first show was in 1980 at the old and now defunct hollywood sportatorium. Needless to say we have not missed a tour or album since. I have a couple of thoughts on the show. first these guys have not lost a beat, like fine wine Rush just gets better year after year, pushing the limits. They could have played a a hundred songs and it would have not been enough. They have definatley not gotten the respect they deserve but thats pop culture. Alex, Geddy and neil are not rock stars they are musicians. That work very hard at there craft. The new album simply blows me away. I was really stoked they played so many new songs. The best part of going to the hall of fame was seeing Neil’s drum kit….incredible. Now lets induct the musicians!!!!

Glad to see mostly positive reviews here. It was a great show, my 4th time seeing them, and they were my first show ever 25 years ago. As the Post reviewer wrote, to say they are tight musically would be an understatement. They do not receive the accolades they should from the greater music community, and they are no-doubt R&R Hall of Famers. If ZZ Top, another great trio, are in then Rush should be inducted as well.

Only two comments about the fantastic WPB show. The only thing I missed was a song representing from Counterparts, a very underrated album. And what the hell was the deal with the rotisserie chickens on stage? I thought it was hilarious (like the South Park clip) but wasn’t sure the meaning behind it.

OK…. After Reading the comments posted here I am once again reminded of the reason most fans enjoy Rush both live and on CD. They are a cerebral band, their music makes people think of the world at large, and possible solutions to change things that could be better. Also, individually and as a band, they are among the best musicians ever. I can understand why people don’t get it, but what people don’t understand is that they are not your typical rock band, singing about boozing it up and loose women. If you want Aerosmith or other bands that get stuck in rut and release essentially the same album every time, that is fine. However, true Rush fans understand that Rush is a dynamic and progressive trio that refuses to write stuf for commercial prosperity. They have never had a #1 hit, ever, and look at the following they have, it is a testament to the band and the percentage of the population that is not going to be put in box or category. Plambeach show was awesome, I am also going to Chicago, Milwaukee and St. Paul. Thanks you Rush for writing songs about issues that most of the American population doesn’t even want to think about.

Rush put on another great show as they always do. Geddy voice broke up a little at the beginning, but once he got warmed up he sounded like he normally does. I am going to see the Dolphins play in London and hope to see them in Milan the week before. I also plan to see them whenever I can get away for a weekend where ever they are playing. Last tour I saw them 4 times. They are legends and are worthy of the Rock and Roll hall of fame.

I am a die hard Rush fan and it’s nice to see raving reviews of the show.I think its impressive that the band is playing so much of it’s new material, they are indeed making the statement that they are still a viable band. Hats off to this daily publication for this review and messageboard.

The south park intro to tom sawyer was histerical. Only parts are on you tube. Anyone seen it posted elswhere? Great show. New album is best in at least a decade. Kudos to the new producer.

Geddy’s bass sounding richer than on past tours, and the song selection was really great. Nice inclusion > Thought the encore didnt deliver as much as on previous tours, the inclusion of a full version teaser from the R30 Overture was great, with Geddy hitting all those notes. Can’t wait to see them in Milwaukee, Chicago, and St. Paul in September. Can you believe these guys are doing this three times a week til the end of the year?? Awesome!

Rush doesn’t have to play their “oldies but goodies” for my $40 lawn seat!! Let me tell you…the sound, lighting, use of video was OFF THE CHARTS!! And the new tunes…they killed it!! Just a tremendous job by 3 amazing guys. Thank you RUSH for another great album…and for NOT playing the oldies but goodies!! ROCK ON RUSH

Clashny: Which radio hits did they miss? They played Sawyer, Limelight, Freewill, Spirit of Radio, Subdivisions. Maybe left out were Red Barchetta, New World Man, Fly By Night, and Working Man. But really they are not a bad of hits. Their core following does not come to see Tom Sawyer for the umpteenth time, but they play it and it still sounds good anyway. I was surprised they played 5 songs in a row off the new album to start the 2nd set. For those who have not heard them, I can see being a little lost. But you know what? I was with people who hadn’t heard the new stuff and they liked it…because they were good songs and they rocked. My friend said one guy left b\c they weren’t playing enough old stuff, well his loss, b\c they did play a lot of old stuff (commercial hits and rare classics) . Rush is not stagnant creatively and neither are their live shows. If you want to hear the same old “Big 106” set list, go see Steve Miller or someone who hasn’t put out an album of new stuff for over 20 years for free over at the dog track. Rush is not that kind of band. Yes they have huge back catalog and staple hits that they must play, but in reality (like it or not CLASHNY) they are a progressive, relevant band that mixes their new stuff with old. That is why they can charge top dollar and people (the real fans) will pay to see still evolving artists and incredible music. Clashny sees them for what the garbage radio stations in this town make bands out to be, not what they are to the real fans.

The concert was amazing last night. The post by Clashny was a demonstration of his inability to appreciate a songs not spoon fed to him by radio programers that play the same 5 songs by artists with 30 year career spans ad naseum. The band, the individual players, the volume, the light show. It was a perfect rock show.

Best set list I have seen. Seen 5 shows over 15 years or so. Digital Man, Circumstances, Entre Nous, Witchhunt, Bangcock! A Rush fans wetdream last night. They played a lot from their new album, which is their best in years musically and lyrically. Tight instrumentals, sounded awesome. They are getting old, yet somehow are on top their game. Long live RUSH!

This show was disappointing to all but the most diehard Rush fans. I can understand playing 2 to 3 new songs, but almost the entire new album? Like it or not, Rush is a band with a multitude of radio hits and they played probably 5 to 6 radio hits which were like small islands in a sea of unfamiliar songs. This type of setlist is fine if you are playing a small theater as a ‘thank you’ to the diehard fans but to come onstage in a big summer shed and play a handful of familiar songs is a real disservice to the people who paid $80/ticket.

Andy, what don’t you get?

  1. That they are some of the most sound musicians that perform…

  2. That they entertain for almost 3 full hours in concert?

  3. That they mix old and new music with a strange mix of lasers, pyrotechnics, videos and humor?

I went in expecting a fun show, but they were stronger than I’ve seen them in years. Last night was a great show. Perhaps you should get a rotisserie chicken and think about it some more.
