The Airport already has 2 runways, each longer than LaGuardia and in the same configuration and yet PBIA can’t handle even half the traffic that LaGuardia does? How is that possible? Why not use the runways we already paid for? Should we reward poor airport traffic management by spending hundreds of millions of public tax money to reorient a runway? Especially considering 60% of the traffic at PBIA is PRIVATE/CORPORATE not commercial. The rich private plane owners would benefit more than the public even though public tax money is paying for everythin. Also the new configuration being proposed must be treated as a single runway for operations because the two runways would be less than 2500’ apart. Search “Closely Spaced Parallel Runways” and “wake turbulence” to find out why this proposal is a complete waste of our tax money and is not a good fit for PBIA.
Name calling and a dearth of factual information-yes that is what I’ve come to expect from my fellow PBC citizens. Wake up people- get the facts before your go making accusations. Where else do the needs of the tourist come before those of the city residents. The airport expansion is a trojan horse. When will it stop? Future plans call for more expansion north of Belvedere. I urge you all to get the facts. Go to www.nopbiaexpansion.org for more.
Another anti-tourism move by our closeted lesbbiann mayor. First she destroys Clematis Street, she has failed to get even one hotel built in five years, she has attempted to run every restaurant out of business, the latest being Tommasso’s were she sent inspectors in and fined him over $3,000 for B.S. stuff (her develpoer pal wants the building and wants Tommasso out) now she listens to a few residents and stops progress at the airport. Why, she can;t get any payoffs from extending the runway. When will the Feds lock her up?
It seems to me that looking at the history of Ms. Frankel’s spending habits with official money that in this particular case she is more concerned with her friends complaining about the runway noise more than she is the expenditure. I mean, doesn’t it seem odd that she would be so opposed to something that seems to spur economic growth and tourism? My suggestion would be to take a closer look at the realtionsships Ms Frankel has with “influential” individuals that live in the takeoff/landing areas of this proposed runway extension.
If Lois Frankel cared about taxpayer money should would NOT BE BUILDING A MULTIMILLION DOLLAR COUNTY OFFICE BUILDING on one of the most expensive pieces of land in the county! That land could be used to produce income.

Can something be done to STOP FRANKEL’S RUNAWAY SPENDING?
I hope Governor Crist & the State Legislature has their eye on FRANKEL’S RECKLESS SPENDING OF TAXPAYER MONEY.

With the building of the PBIA interchange on I95, just plan on having this happen. If you build it; they will come.
It is gonna happen.
