Drastic measures

The City of West Palm Beach came so close to exhausting its water supply in May that it made an unprecedented decision to pump millions of gallons of treated sewage water onto well fields that supply 150,000 customers.

This is an absolute outrage, and citizens of this county should fight back. Are they trying to kill everyone? I am a distributor for a popular drinking water filter, and have done years of research studying the effects of contaminants in municipal water. If you all were smart you would take my advice and get an NSF certified water filter asap! Where do they think all that waste is going to go?? If you want to find out how you can protect your self e-mail me at admin@purestdrinkingwater.com

To my knowledge, drinking water is the one absolutely necessary commodity for all life on earth that cannot be made, constructed or substituted for. Read Herbert’s Dune books for a scary look at a possible future.

not too sure I want to drink some of the recycled drugs & chemo agents patients at the local hospitals have urinated out. Filters & chemicals are ineffective against these things from what I have read.

As one the “undereducated morons” and “certifiable maniacs” who makes that “treated sewage water” …. ya’ll need to stop your knee from jerking for a moment and take a look at the water in Lake Okeechobee that resembles the wastewater BEFORE we treat it. Also, where do you think all the “treated sewage water” in this country goes? Utah? Bolivia? Sorry to inform you folks but it’s been coming out of your shower head all these years. And now you know the rest of the story. Remember, your neighbors septic tank is located next to your well. Catching on now. What do you think they drink in New Orleans? Besides Bourbon. That’s right. The “treated sewage water” from Pittsburgh, Cincinnati, St. Louis and Memphis. Among others. By the way ….it’s not “treated sewage water.” That is a name made up by a journalist selling newspapers on Sunday. Notice it was the only thing about the story that was in RED? Try “final effluent.” Remember, we can do anything you want with it. How much are you willing to pay? We can turn it in to straight up Perrier and dump it in the Atlantic. For a price. We have the technology. Should we just add that to your new tax bill or include it with your hurricane insurance premiums?

The best way to ensure the quality of your water is to take charge at home and install a quality water treatment system. If you have hard water too, you have a good chance of saving more money than the system costs. I sell treatment systems to homeowners and businesses but will not advertise here. Do some checking and see what your options are. I installed a system when I moved into my home in West Boca (Palm Beach County water) and it made a big difference.

I don’t believe this has just been done to our water (since this April) I believe it has been going on since Seacoast took over. The reason I say this is because since they took over the faucet/drinking water has been leaving white water marks on the sink, counter, etc. - Now we know why. Shame on you politicians - another very bad decision.

Visit Florida but don’t drink the water!

At a time when people are willing to pay a premium price for bottled designer drinking water and install expensive water filter systems in their homes, WPB officials have a lot of nerve putting partially treated sewage in the drinking water. Now they have set a precedent and want to spend $12 million of our tax money to put treated sewage in our water on a constant basis. I don’t care if it is absolutely pure H2O, (which it was not) put it back into nature for a while, not into our faucets. Our economy relies on tourists. If I was looking for a place to vacation, I would not go to a place that puts treated sewage in the drinking water. Maybe we will get the same reputation as third world countries like Mexico. Don’t drink the water or you will get Frankel’s revenge! Mayor Frankel and the others responsible for this should eat stool and die!

All the politicians are guilty of criminal negilence in this matter from the governor to the mayor because they have refused to use the technology of cloud seeding to end this drought. Ten US states have been using this technology for decades successfully increasing rainfall as much as 40% and many foreign countries such as Russia, China and Israel.(see Cloud Seeding, Cloud Seeding Utah, Cloud Seeding China, Cloud Seeding Israel on google), The governor just returned from Israel after giving them $20 million to help with trade. He refused to ask for their help with cloud seeding. Israel has been practicing this technology for 40 years and would be happy to help us. ILt is a disgrace that Florida refuses to use this technology and would rather kill its citizens with dirty water.

Everyone of you people who are complaining are IDIOTS. The city staff did a great job in seeing you FOOLS through a crisis and all you do is complain. None of you are educated enough to even speak on this subject because if you were you would understand that it was perfectly safe. Once again I’ll say IDIOTS!

I love it. You guys are the ones who poop and pee in the toilets and use as much water as you want. What do you expect?

NEWSFLASH: There are over 7 billion people in the world, and they all want clean water. We should thank our lucky stars that our water supply is still reliable and safe, and that you have water treament professionals who can come up with creative solutions like this when the going gets rough.

If you live in a populated area, there are reperceussions, just as there are with living in a rural area.

If this is the biggest problem you have to complain about this week, then you are doing pretty darn well.

You know I’m right. Who’s with me?

150,000 plus SunFest 300,000 visitors who gathered, drinking water from WPB tainted crap water! With all the elderly, children, and immune compromised living in Palm Beach County…. We already have Extreme Home Owners Insurance and Taxes to deal with, no Affordable Health Insurance. Unless you are an Illegal Immigrant. This is a slap in the face of tax payers and our health! The city’s water is horrible when there is no drought. The water plant is run by undereducated morons and certifiable maniacs. Is drinking water supposed to have a color and odor? I don’t eat at downtown restaurants, even during the rainy season. Why do they charge $4.00 for a tiny bottle of water at the convention center? Because they know you won’t drink the smelly water from the fountains. One can only pray, that the lives of those drinking and bathing in the City Of West Palm Beach water, suffer no long-term effects; the future may not be their’s! I would very much like to see what the Mayor drinks. I doubt that her water bottle is filled from the tap. The good folks at the water treatment plant drink soda or water, brought from home…Probably the only smart thing they do!

As taxpayers, and residents of WPB, we should have been informed of the water, MONTHS AGO. Sunfest was almost two months ago! How long has the PB Post known? I am sure they waited for the Sunday paper for maximum impact, which it had..but if they knew about the water even a month ago, the public should have been informed! Also, have you ever noticed our mayor always carries bottled water?

It is high time for the inept governing body of this county to stand up or get the hell out. Palm Beach County has a reserve of over $900 million. How is it benefiting the taxpaper? It isn’t. They should think of spending some of this on useful projects, like resevoir, alternate sources of fresh drinking water like a desalinazation plant, etc. It is time to stand up act responsible. Adding waste water to the water supply is the most negligent and misguided answer to this problem. We need an independent third party who gives a damn. Its is time for change.

When the Palm Beach Post ran an article, in the middle of the drought, informing the residents on the water usage of two City Commissioners, it also noted that Mayor Frankels water usage actually went down. Really! How dare the mayor and Commissioners make the decision they did and not inform the public? Now they tell us the water is safe, and we are supposed to take their word on it. There could have been severe consequences due to the decision they made, and may still be after all is known. “Trusted Officials” is a thing of the past, and a prime example of why the public is suspicious, and mistrustfull of this Mayor and Commissioners. Think about it! Safe drinking water or SunFest? I would like to know how this story came about.Did the Post break this story?

All I can do is laugh at all the ignorant thoughts and articles posted on this site. Did you know that the water that comes out of your faucets everyday is tested MORE than the bottled water you buy at the store? There is a record breaking drought going on. All of your government agents (and consultants that they work with) found a very creative and safe solution to keep your house full of water so you can flush your toilet every time you pee and drench yourself in water every time you get a drop of sweat on your forehead. GOOD JOB to all of those who worked on this solution; I take my hat off to you!!! Hey Stacey - instead of trying to blame someone for this drought, how about writing a USEFUL article educating the public on how to conserve water and not waste so much? That would be a lot more beneficial to the public then playing this name blaming game that you have done for the past 3 months!!!

Doug… I agree with you 100%… PBC and WPB and south Florida is a disaster ecologically.. And with pumping the “treated” sewage raw water into the aquifer its going to affect the area for hundreds of years. The problem is you have people running palm beach who do not have the qualifications… where are the doctorates in water management geography, ecology environmental sciences. Educated people who truly understand what they are doing with the water supply…..
I have a Ba( hons) degree in geography, biology. I have a nursing degree too… I told my wife what was going to happen when I moved to Florida 7 years ago. We moved out of Loxahatchee 3 years ago when we could afford to because I said to her I knew the water supply was in serious jeopardy and I said with in 3-4 years there would be major problems. And people should stop saying it’s the fault of lake Okeechobee being “drained “ last year. This has been a long term miss managed catastrophe. You need managers with knowledge in these important jobs … not a hairdresser who “ climbed there way up” not a friend who needs a good job… A true water manager faced with a drought would have said ….. no lawn watering and no watering of golf courses… golf course are not essential to health. Look at all of the important positions in PBC… from accounting budgeting, Hi level planning decisions, are these people actually qualified…..
I still live in Florida…. Some areas in the north are ok still…. Still affordable….rate wise and tax wise… and we are lucky we have spring fed wells…..

Do we have any recourse against this corrupt clown?

Recall? Perhaps a major sit-in at City Hall?

Or maybe… just maybe… all you motherfrakkers in Less Palm Beach are getting the government you absolutely deserve.

Frankel got her first term with 5% of the vote and her second term with only slightly more voters.

Next time you’re ejecting your guts into the crapper, think about why it’s important to vote.

For sale….$475,000 2200 square ft home.. on 5 acres M/L with barn.. fenced cross fenced…
With well water.. Clean not recycled not sewage tainted, not from well field pumped with sewage laden water, arsenic growth hormones etc. Ideal location north of ocala…west of gainesville (30 mins to both) no horse poop restrictions ,,, low taxes… good services .. close to gainesville Ocala.. 1.hr 30 mins from Tampa and tallahassee. country living little crime good schools … yep want to buy, Only $475,000 This is a real offer… But I guess the housing market in PBC has just taken another hit… would you want to buy a house in an area which has cut so many corners, told so many lies and finally admits to using treated sewage water… without saying how it was treated…. I can tell you this…. I do not trust PBC city or the WPB treatments… They have been lousy at everything else so why did they keep this a secret for so long….

Well….. I dont want to say i told you so… I posted quite a numkber of months ago that this was the plan. I stated the water was pumped into the ground way back then… I stated Arsenic, growth hormones from cattles farms would be in the water… I got told I was scare mongering… I told neighors in loxahatche 3 years ago that we were moving becasue of the water problem and I got laughed at… Want to know why your homes are depreciating yet taxes increasing… This is the reason… who would want to move into a drought striken area which is reliant upon basically untreated sewage water that has been pumped into the ground. Lets see.. the rocks will filter it… ok so the residues as i will call them… like sewage will reamin in the pores of the rocks to be realeased slowly. As for the growth hormones, the arsnic well thats desolved in the water. So I guess i need to say …. Happy drinking neighbor. Oh BTW if you want to move north do it soon…. land prices here have inceased in the last few months… 5 acres for $85,000 now… And homes like mine on 5 acres with barn etc… are now at $425,000 what will that get you in WPB and PBC … yep a small home wil high taxes and tainted water…. We may have a higher drought index here in Levy county … but we have water!! clean and fresh, Contact me if you want my house we can make a deal Im sure …

They should have told the public. Even if it was the right thing to do. There are people with some very serious medical conditions who could have at least had the option to buy bottled water for their own health and safety. Just “meeting federal requirements” is a scary standard at anytime.

How about tests for arsenic, and hormone disruptors normally found in that water? Endocrine disruptors, more than 100 of them are being outlawed in Europe so we cannot ship products containing them over there. But having them in our own drinking water is O.K. I guess? If the rock mine pits are salty, how did they get that way? Maybe because those pits took the cranium off our aquifer, which is connected to the deep aquifer and the ocean? The so-called “confining layer” between the layers of aquifer water is now being referred to as the “semi-confining layer”, since geologists know it is ALL connected underground. WE NEED A STATEWIDE “AQUIFER PROTECTION ACT” in Florida. No money for an AWT treatment plant? Just charge a penny a gallon for drinking water. Include the golf courses and agrculture areas that use it to irrigate, and that penny a gallon will pay for any water treatment we need, no problem. Oh, and outlaw Saint Augustine for lawns. It is an obvious invasive alien species, and requires mowing, irrigation, fertilizer, pesticides, edging and leaf blowing by aliens who have to do it twice a week in the summer. PUT DOWN MULCH AND NATIVE PLANTS INSTEAD!

Another reason to pay the outrageously high house prices, property taxes and homeowners insurance to live in paradise!

I wouldn’t let my dog drink the water in South Florida and I filter the water I use to wash him.

And, of course, we can trust the water people who ensure they test the sewer water they pump into the drinking supply. They don’t make mistakes, do they?
