They need to shut down the athletic department…There’s no leadership!!!! UF has a bunch of thugs running free in Gainesville…shooting, beating girlfriends, buying and selling drugs, fighting at clubs and fraternity parties. A disgrace to the STATE….

Bottom line is Pot is Pot, still against the law. They knew what the rules are and chose to ignore them. They got what they deserve.

The truth of the matter is that corruption and disregard for the law starts at the top. Regrettably, both Donavan and Urban Myth have shown laxity in dealing with player disciplinary issues, for example the football player who shot up an apartment complex last year because he was mad at his girlfriend and this nut job was not even charged, and the football player who is charged with aggravated battery from an incident this past spring. Get thine house in order.

Hey Jack, it’s weed!! A substance abuse program? These kids are thrust into the spotlight from all over the country and they are expected to behave like saints. Maybe before you judge these kids you might ask your teen if they have ever smoked pot, that might change your perception.

Please have someone who watched the Gators play cover this story? This is the same writer who wrote that Donovan’s image will be “enhanced” by his flip-flop of jobs, with her sole source as some clown from scout.com. That’s like asking a fan. Ask anyone in the know, who should have been a real source, from fellow head coaches to athletic directors, and they would have said his image took a real hit with that mess. But that’s the Post/GatorBait for you.

if anyone noticed it was only .8 grams not 8 grams for 20 bucks! i think busting these kids over this is ludarcris and charging a 3rd degree felony?? ive lived in gainesville and i know there is a lot more going on then a little pot sale like this. maybe if they were buying over 20 grams or trafficking or buying cocaine, but for .8 grams??

They were trying to buy 8 grams of pot at $20 EACH, right? Pretty important word left out of the story.

Amazing, probably sold to them by the players at Univ. of Miami.

Maybe while they are at University of Miami both of them can light up with my boy Ricky Williams. I hear his s**t is the bomb!

Seems like law enforcement money would be better spent somewhere else. How about a sting operation to catch these the players driving drunk after a party? Any chance there are steroids on a football team? On the other hand, anyone who would pay $20 for 8 grams of pot and not think something is wrong with the deal might need to learn a lesson.

Drugs and athletes don’t mix. They should be suspended, charged with felonies, and released from their teams. Only after they enter a substance abuse program should they be allowed to apply for readmittance to their teams. They should stripped of their scholarships, and subject to any and all legal sanctions. If they were serious about playing football, they would not be involved in drugs or their use. Shame on them!

James was not a minor contributor, nor did he play little. Please have someone that watched Florida play cover the story.

These two must have made a wrong turn on the way to the University of Miami. Maybe they should transfer there - the pot is supposedly better quality and the punishment not nearly as severe.

Charge them with a felony for buying a $20 bag of weed? How ridiculous. People are robbing and murdering people all over the state and the Police waste resources for this crap? They should charge the police with wasting taxpayer dollars persuing this. Legalize it and end this madness.
