I like that word “dissident”…counter revolutionary and more! Yes, there are lots of us. I believe the actual head count was 300 (yes)- 88.(no) or at least that’s what we have been. We have not been allowed to see the actual votes. Many people, such as our mayor, Roger Bennet, own multiple lots and approx 85 shares. Interestingly enough, in the Briny by-laws it states that 80% of the people in District I and District II must approve any land sales. That clause was changed by the Board and they have never told us what the percentage of “yes/no ” was for these districts or any other for that matter.
We’ve all heard that 82 percent of the outstanding shares voted for the merger with Ocean Land. I don’t believe we’ve ever been told what the results of a straightforward “nose count” vote would have been. And although Briny-the-Corporation has no obligation to take a vote that way or to provide that information, Briny-the-Town could do a straw vote of some sort for their edification and for ours. (I’ve been told that shareholders who wanted to vote “no” were told that they would have to “register as dissidents” and might not receive the full value of their outstanding shares.) Things will get interesting when the Briny “dissidents” start talking publicly. If you’re one of them, please know that there’s a lot of support out here in the daylight for you! Come on out!
“Many Brinyites’ notes contain the same two talking points: how long the writer has been a resident and the magic number of 82, the percent of shares for the sale. Ocean Land’s Pierson said no one was coached but points were discussed at meetings.”
Is anybody surprised at this? Oceanland has become the mouth piece of Briny. Even the Board President and Town Mayor hand out their statements through Oceanland’s PR. It’s downright embarrassing to have people think that everybody in Briny is nothing more than an Oceanland Puppet.

Lack of water is an issue for this and all proposed developments in So.Fla. If we don’t have water for the current residents we should NOT be approving any developments.
i lived there, in gulf stream, over 10 years ago. even though i didnt like the briny breeze people ,as i found them arrogant, i wouldnt want to see high rises of 20 stories. that is the last decent piece of land. a few fancy mega homes, would be better than a shopping center/condos, etc. if there isnt water for them, how can they have them anyway. i loved old dog beach. the place was immaculate. i wonder if it really will get off the ground. where can the former residents live on the ocean for less than a mil, anyway, today?? GREED. IF THEY MADE IT THROUGH ALL THOSE STORMS A FEW YEARS AGO, CERTAINLY THEY WILL MAKE IT THROUGH ANOTHER 50 YEARS. THERE SHOULD BE DEFINETELY BE A HEIGHT LIMITATION = NO HIGHER THAN WHAT IS ON EITHER SIDE OF THEM. THE ROAD IS NOT CONDUCIVE TO THAT KIND OF PROJECT.
SAD. I COULD RIDE MY BIKE THROUGH THERE, AND IT WAS WONDERFUL.
This is a no brainer for the DCA. This proposed barrier island development impacts a long list of FACT based issues that scream TOO BIG!
Anyone that’s ever driven up A1A and over the Woolbright ICW bridge already understands that this 2 lane road is barely adequate today. How exactly would emergency services get to and from this project? A Hurricane evacuation would be impossible. Boynton want$ to $upply the $ewer and water, yet ha$ neither to $pare. The developer suggests walking, bikes and mass transit to solve the traffic problem. Right! Does anyone believe that people living in multi-million dollar condos are going to ride a bus?
ugggh
the ego maniac Disney-Boca styled development resort will be hideous for the area… The residents want cash out.. Why not create a Plam beach mansion deal with the land…. have a few insanely priced homesites. People will buy it. But to impose a mizner park in that quaint little town.. What a nitemare..
Please add my tstimonial to the no way pile of letters….
Some are from members of a coalition bankrolled mostly by wealthy Ocean Ridge and Gulf Stream residents.
Eliot, please do your homework before you start sounding like you’re on Ocean Land’s payroll. I personally know these people and the majority are certainly not wealthy. By far, the wealthiest group here is Ocean Land.
