Irv, the world is a death trap. I-95 is an expressway. It’s a good thing that most people drive responsibly. A ‘marked’ car slows people down. An unmarked car generates revenue. We don’t need more law enforcement just make what we have obvious. Ticket the speeders and the slow pokes. All drivers should look out for themselves and everyone else or get off the highway….
Respect on the roads begins with signaling. People are so rude and lack of signaling is a major cause of accidents. The cops should be catching al quedas, not pulling people for going over 8 mph. :argh:

Why we need extra traffic enforcement is beyond me. This is an announcement that government is throwing a giant ticket party requiring donations from all those who utilize our roads. I have a suggestion. I-95 is a DEATH TRAP not because of scoflaws who drive fast, but rather due to the fact the road is in HORRIBLE condition. The road is a good old fashion slalom course. Spend the money fixing the road surface, not spending money ticketing those on driving through town.
Hey Copsucker: It sucks getting caught breaking the law doesn’t it? You’re obviously bitter because of your recent arrest. Did your enjoy your visit to camp CJ (county jail)? Chalk one up for the good guys!
I agree with Fedupwithslowpeople. I sure hope they also ticket those who are driving too slow. I agree with the speeding too, but come on all things being equal should apply.
I think the issue is not as much the speeding but the blatent disreguard for others on the road. I see more problems with people swerving while talking on there cell phones, not using blinkers, going slow in the wrong lane and making people pass them on the right. The common speed of any freeway is 70 mph no matter what the posted limit is so if you don’t like it stay off the freeway or in the right lanes and do 55 which as we all know is a rediculous limit as it is!! The flow of traffic is more important than the posted limit. I agree that doing 85 and swerving through traffic when everyone else is doing 70 bad idea but so is going 55 and causing the same problems!

I drive between south Georgia and Palm Beach County almost every weekend. I had seen so many of them speeders. What is so irritating are those who follow too close that even if you are cruising on the right (slower) lane, these tailgaters just do not know or will never learn how to maintain a safe distance. Too bad that the cops are not there when you need them. I wish I am given the privelege to report these “dangerous” speeders. Also, we should also require all trucks to be covered or tarped properly! These trucks are very dangerous to others when they spill rocks and hard debris on the road. I was given a speeding citation one time for overtaking a truck because I tried to avoid the debris falling from the truck! The thing is the truck was cruising at 80 mph!!!
You police do not scare me. I am the richest woman alive and I am better than everyone else. See I only spent 3 days in jail and it was aweful. My money can get me anything I want. Sorry gotta go an make a porno and then off to happy hour for drinks and a few lines of coke with Lindsey Lohan and Nicole Ritchie. And by the way-don’t you even think about pulling me over while I am driving drunk or I will tell my daddy!!!! I AM RICH AND CAN DO WHATEVER I WANT AND GET AWAY WITH IT*

Remember! cops can do as they please when they please!
They can wrongfully arrest you, hassle you, treat youy like feces, interrogate you, treatyou as if you’re guilty before you are proven so, kick your a*s on national television, beat thier wives, tamper with evidence, lie, cheat, sponge coffee, verbally abuse and last but not least, drink and drive. All you need is a badge and you can also be a butthole any time or place you desire.
Can we do something about the idiots throwing their cigarette butts out the window’s while we are at it? I could write 5 tickets each morning commute from Northlake to 10th ave if given the authority.
I agree with the More Marked Police Cars in Florida. Have a few unmarked cars on Squad Patrol. Go to Black and White Squad Cars. LET THEM KNOW IT’S THE POLICE. USE more Helicopter Patrol also. Use CAMERAS and VIDEO on the HIGHWAY FOR INSTANT DIGITAL REPLAY IN COURT.
Off duty cop cut in front of me last week. Not even 1 car length away. As I passed him I saw who it was. He got behind to scare me when he was TOTALLY at fault for driving erratically.
I think before they start worrying about other speeders on the road, they need to work on their own law enforcement officers. I watch many of them, and I mean alot, just racing home or to work, they are obviously out of their jurisdiction. Just yesterday, I watching a Delray Beach Police unit, flying by me at 75-80 plus near Griffin Road. Last time I checked Delray wasn’t in Hollywood. As well I have seen Broward deputies cruising through Palm Beach. get the point!
I think it is a great idea to pull people over speeding and heightening the police presence on I-95, but most of the force take it for granted by pulling people over for things that trivial.
I think the city is just out for the revenue. If you really cared about saving peoples lives you would have MARKED police cars, not UNMARKER cars. If a driver see’s a larger police presence on the roads (as a marked car would represent) then drivers would slow down. Rather, unmarked cars are allowing officers to generate revenue by pulling over only one car, while doing ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to slow down the rest of the drivers out there. I don’t understand if this is stupidity among city officials, or just a blatant attempt to increase revenues while displaying no regard for human life.
I’m tired of those who “clog” up the left lane. It’s for PASSING not cruising going 45 mph with no intention of moving right. GET OUT OF THE WAY and the world will be a better place.
If you’re going to enforce speeding on 95, those who inforce it should lead by good example. It’s almost like the old days when a parent would say “Do as I say not as I do.”
Hey tbag - a little suggestion for you that will help with a police officer who is tailgating you…GET OUT OF THE WAY - MOVE OVER. The left lane is the fast lane. Better yet, since this has been an issue for you on multiple occassions, may I suggest that you go to DMV and advise them you’d like to retake your entire driver’s exam?! You could probably use the refresher. Stick with the right two lanes of the interstate to avoid future trouble. Best of luck!
Does the clamping down on bad drivers also include clamping down on the police officers who tailgate too.
Many a time i have been driving on 95 in the middle lane passing cars when a police cruise has come right up on my tail and stayed there…. I couldnt move over… neither could he or she… they werent checking my licence plate.. And its not just one police department… I have had PBSO, city of Margate, city of Palm beach, FHP all do it and I have seen them do it to others… I find this more intimidating thatthe usual tailgaters….
