i think daunte was and still is a good QB.however i understand the dolphins position. daunte only played in 4 games in almost 2years. they can not keep paying him that kind of money and he can not play.i wish him the very best and hope he can prove everyone wrong.I STILL BELEIVE IN YOU DAUNTE.

This truly a good mix and elevates Miami from the bottom to the top of the AFC east for projections. i’m sure New England fan’s are fretting too bad they think Moss will send them to heaven sorry, just the opposite! When things look to good, they are, Green is a nice maix for Miami he offers invaluable experience that can tutor with 2 or 3 years in the tank he can get the fins in the end zone something we haven’t had around here since Marino and sustain long drives to burn defenses in the FL. heat that’s invaluable, coupled with special teams that can score TD’s and improve our field position, our defense should rank tops in the our offensive line will be improved despite doubter’s and a break away year for R. Brown and L. Booker, let’s face it draft picks are overrated you can get a diamond in the rough in the 7th round or a dud in the 1st, lets just say say for Culpepper will just charge off the loss (THX SABAN) and move forward. I think as of midnight Dante you are not welcomed here best of luck on your future endeavors. Don’t forget Earl Morrell was 40 while he lead the Dolphins thru an undefeated season i think for any doubters out there you need to doubt your own IQ, 12-4 AFC East champs that’s reality.

Dolphin Fans deserve every bit of the failure! Every been to a game? Convention of the uglies…..most of which have no clue about football and half slick their hair back and are either transplant New Yorkers, Cuban army, or thug! During the rest of the week they try to figure out which grocery store to rob.

Chris S…..and your support for the University of Comic Failures (UCF) and Culpeper. OVERRATED! It has been shown that DC is not the brightest bulb in the shed….and his telegraphed long whind up release is not effective.

Al Saunders in the last paragraph, summarizes why Cameron wanted Trent Green. He will elevate those around him and make them better players. He did it with the Rams and the Chiefs.

I have to agree with the few fans here who seem to be aware of D-Cup’s past in Minnesota.

Daunte is limited intellectually. He has a limited ability to grasp offensive schemes and relies on natural physical abilities to overcome this. That was a Vikings thing for a while, remember? Simplistic offense with freak athletes D-Cup and Moss. It’s a great system if you only have players under 26 years old.

But Daunte has never been a communicator, has never developed beyond a high-school sophomore intellect, and cannot command a system complicated enough to compete in today’s NFL.

Why is anyone in Miami bemoaning the loss of D-Cup? He never DID anything for your team!!!!!!!

To the Moron who said Nobody has come back from tearing 3 ligaments. Go look at Willis McGahee, dolt. And the other idiot who said Pep sucked before MOss, Umm you mean at UCF, where he was one of the best qb’s in the nation? And the other moronic comment that all he did was toss it up to Moss. Do you understand football? Or do you just play Madden? Idiots like you should have there right to free speech revoked.

Time to move on. DC out, TG in, Cam is rocking and rollin with the good ship Dolfinz. Let’s hope we don’t run aground in the fall of 2007.

Re. coming back from 3 of 4 ligaments—

I truly believe his injury was overstated when it was clear he would continue to be sacked playing that offense. It’s not physical but it was mental — a step too slow for protection. So then they benced him because of the “injury” when it was more than that. If he won’t work in Cam’s offense, fine. But he can work in elsewhere. Play up his physical gifts and get a good trade to somebody who can protect him to give him those few extra seconds, or an offense designed for his skills. It never was the knee folks and he is rested and ready for some other team.

I believe this is a great opportunity not only for the Dolphins but also for the young quarterback, Beck who can learn a great deal from one of the league’s proven and once great quarterback.

Cam has to win. He will do what it takes to win. If Culpepper was able to play, He would keep him. Unitus,Namath, Montana, Marino and all the other greats have had their Day. Culpepper has had His.

Just because Culpepper looks great on XBox doesn’t mean he’s going to be great on the field. Green’s age and injury are also a problem. There should be an open competition and see what happens. I believe that Culpepper will look better than Green. Cam and Randy are gambling on Green. Neither QB played a full season last year so I don’t know how anyone can make a fair assestment. Culpepper has the arm, better mobility, can run OVER people if he has to. Trent Green? He’s got the smarts? He’ s lost part of his memory. Great..Good Luck Dolphins and FinFans.

I am continually amazed at these Culpepper supporters. I understand that they don’t know that NOBODY has ever come back after tearing 3 out of 4 ligaments in the same knee.

What I don’t get is, how, even if Culpepper was really 100%, which he isn’t and never will be, do they think that Cupepper would work in Camerons offense?

I have been A fin fan for as long as I can remember. The way this entire off season has been handled makes me ill Dante is being treated like the kid we hang out with only because none of our other friends were around. Miami deserves nothing less than to be torched by Dante and the next team he lands withrepeatedly, maybe Buffalo is looking for A QB!

Duante Culpepper in Chicago. If there Offensive Line gave Rex Grossman time to play like a champion, imagine what Daunte could do.

By anonymous

June 7, 2007 9:36 AM | Link to this

I don’t think that knee was ever hurt so bad he can’t run. We’ll see. He is just not a scrapper QB, not that there is anything wrong with that. If you can buy him time, he can make the plays or scramble even. But not from the get go. He needs time, like a more delicate big QB. Just because he didn’t fit in Miami does not mean he won’t play well elsewhere. Good luck to both. men, Cam and Culpepper.

Who does it look like will pick him up? Any guesses?

By Steve

June 7, 2007 9:30 AM | Link to this

Daunte showed last season that he cannot read a defense, something a QB MUST be able to do in a Cam Cameron offense. If there is a open competition and Daunte gets hurt, his salary counts toward our salary cap. If he is released, that frees up money to possibly bring in a player that can help us.

hey joe “Daunte can avoid the rush” ..wake up dude. Look….the Green man doesn’t have the road wear on him most QB’s have & time will tell if the skills are there, mean while while we are flipping burgers..selling cars or trading stocks …..the last time I looked Coach Cameron has been evaluating talent for a while. And doing pretyy good with what he had.Any way there is a new atmosphere in Miami, everybody seems to love Cameron & the coaching staff are taking positive steps to take care of the shambles satan ,I mean Saban left it in. Nothing Larry Csonka couldn’t help though. GO FINS

CPEP’s problems weren’t his knee, it was from the neck up…..CPEP was a below average QB before Randy Moss and a below average QB after Randy Moss. All he ever did was heave it up and Randy did the rest. Now that CPEP cant even run it diminshes his skills even further. I say good ridence. Cut our losses. Green is a patch for a couple of years until we find a new QB like Beck or another young QB in the draft. At least we are not trading our 1st or 2nd round draft picks any more.

I have always said Daunte is slow in the read, but now I’ll say this: there is no denying his physical gifts. He’s rested and will be ready. Now he is motivated —thxFins! He will get picked up, too good to pass. Maybe even a bargain. If you can protect him —FinsCouldNot— and buy him time… wait and see. He is slow but mighty. Watch Randy in NE too.

I am a season ticket holder, who just cancelled my tickets for the year. I don’t understand the way they are going with the team, and certainly don’t understand why, if the team is rebuilding, do you go and pick up a quarterback that only has two years, if best left in this league. I hope the “powers that be” know what they are doing. If not the stadium, with it’s new high definition screens is going to be pretty empty. At this point, rather than let Daunte go, or attempt to trade him, I think that they should let him go to camp and fight for his job. If he can’t do it, then release him. He seems to have worked hard since the surgery, to get back to the level where he can compete, and although I am not a fan of his, I say give him the same shot as everyone else, including the QB you have fought so hard to get!!

37 year old? Bah, it isn’t his age that is the problem, it is the fact that Trent Green had two pro-bowl RBs and a pro-bowl offensive line for years and never delivered. Here will be the story of the 2007 Miami Dolpins, Trent Green drops back, he is sacked. Atleast Dante could evade pressure, Green will get another concussion, then Lemon will get hurt, then Beck. Miami will probably have to have Ted Ginn play QB if he ever gets healthy.

Wat kind of pride is doing this to someone who is giving his heart out to us. Its called being fake like Saban. I will not promise, I will guarantee that the dolphins organization will deeply regret this decision. I have respected them since 1983. But they just lost alot of it(like they really care wat there lifelong fans think. Its’s all about the money bro. They will kiss the ground u walk on, until by there very bad judgement they find u expendable. Sorry Pepp. I will root for you even if u play the team that has no confidence in your will and desire to dedicate your heart to us. As the matter of fact I will wear your jersey to every dolphins game regardless wat team u may be on. If u do get traded go show them wat respect is all about baby!! MUCH LUV BRO#8

P.S.- I envy u for having the heart of a soon to be CHAMPION.

If David Carr can get a job in the NFL surely Daunte can get a job, as I see it friendship means more in the NFL than skills.

WAKE UP people, remember last season when everyone was bashing culpepper for J. Harrington. CPep can’t play in this offense. This is why Green was acquired. This excuse that Cpep injury was the reason why he played so bad is crap. I watched a QB who couldn’t read defenses, and wanted to tuck and run every chance he could. face it, Cam reviewed the game tapes and saw the same thing. Will Be a better offense with Green.

no way in the world should you just give up on a talent such as c-pepp….as hard as he’s worked to prove himself, i think he at least deserves the chance to do just that….who cares about it being a problem if there are two qb’s on the roster who feel they deserve to start…..the fins need as many capable arms in camp as possible…wouldnt the rook benefit from seeing a competetive qb battle? once the battle is over i am sure one of the qb’s wont feel they should start…..i think coach is worried about c-pepp outplaying ‘his’ guy and making him and everyone else that doubted him look foolish….. but he’ll do that anyway wherever he goes……doesnt these kind of decisions always come back to hurt us… im sick of coaches cutting good players bcuz he’s not ‘his’ guy… no harm can come out of letting c-pepp outshine this 40 year old with an aching brain but coach’s feelings being hurt… do you pepp… just take it easy on us when you play us again!!!!!

I think the days of making 1 read and running if it;s covered are gone for Dante. a QB that has never had to make a 2 or 3ed read would be hard to develope at this stage of his career. Green for 1-2 years till Beck is ready is very smart, remember you can’t pay both so you make your choices.

Whatever happened to Cam’s mentor mantra from Marty: Don’t ever give the quarterback a job. Well, that’s exactly what’s going on here. He’s just handing the starting job to Green. Daunte deserves a chance to compete for the job. Of course, that won’t happen now. But lame…like Wayne said on draft day; “they better be right.” Because if Beck is a bust, they have nothing…again.

I am not a Dolphin fan but how can you trade for a quaterback that turning 38 years old when you have Culpepper who is much better than most quarterbacks in the league including Trent Green. Ii has always appear that the Dolphin organization has no clue when it comes to talent. They never go for the best player just the player they can get for cheap and old that no one else want. This why I will never cheer for this organization. They will never win a championship because this organization is mediocre at best. Just look at the choice to bring this coach and now trading for a old man, and letting go a proven pro bowl quarterback that just need to get healthy. This organization and team will continue to loose because of their football I.Q.

Great move. The sooner that dullard is out from behind center, the better. Only Ray Lucas was a worse QB in Dolphin history than this guy.

Great arm, but CPep is living proof that athleticism alone doesn’t cut it.

this is a horrible move. the whole time cam has been saying that the qb position will be an open competition. now he is just handing it over to green? daunte has done everything humanly possible to be a dolphin. he wanted to come here, came back too early from an injury, he has been busting his tail off to get healthy, and now that he finally gets cleared to practice we are dumping him? why not let them compete? the dolphins handled this whole situation very poorly.

While I have no great feeling for either QB, Dante is here for all the wrong reasons, and is the most visible remainder of the abysmal Saban era….so trade him or release him it really doesn’t matter….the sooner he’s gone, the better it will be for team unity.

When you look at the history of the Dolphins…Culpepper was never going to play in Miami anyway. Why else would you put an injured QB behind a shaky line when he was supposed to sit out until Oct. until fully healed. You most definitely do not have the players interest at heart. Cleo is never going to get a fair chance either (can you say Lucas?). Culpepper would have to have completed every pass, run for 900 yards and won the Superbowl last year to remain in Miami. They seemed to have wanted to end his career anyway. Joey Harrington got a better chance than Culpepper and several other Miami second or third stringers and you know what you were not going to get from him. Miami cannot have it both ways. Dan Marino is not coming back and maybe Shula should completely retire. The continued mediocrity of personnel moves and development afterwards will continue until front office changes are made

this is such a dumb move….

I hate that a 30 yrd old QB with a rocket arm is being tossed for a 37 yrd old QB with brain Trauma…

I hate CAMERON for tossing away C-pepp, Randy, and Ricky for nothing… Hey at least we got David Martin, and Jesse Chatham, and Cleo Lemon…
