THANK YOU BILLY THE KID !!!
MY HEART SKIPPED A BEAT WHEN I HEARD BILLY D. WAS LEAVING TO COACH THE MAJIC…..WHEN I FOUND OUT HE WAS COMING BACK, I COULD FEEL HIS PRIDE AND COMMITMENT COULD ONLY BLEED ORANGE AND BLUE…..LETS DO IT AGAIN WITH A NEW TEAM WITH NEW FACES AND PROVE THAT UF BASKETBALL IS HERE TO STAY….
Check your facts….NONE of the University of Florida’s coaches salaries are paid with taxpayer money. It’s ALL UFAA money, NONE of which comes from the State or it’s citizens.
“UF is no Harvard…and not even close to FSU or Miami.”
That has to be the most absurd statement I have read in quite some time. I have degrees from both UF and FSU, and can assure you that UF is head and shoulders above FSU. Same for UM. Can you cite 1 credible source that indicates UF is below those other two schools in academic reputation?
“Go Gators, maybe! How much more could Shands benefit the future of medicine in Florida if medicine took on the same funding level as sports? …. or engineering ….. or education …. or…. you get the point.”
Far more money is donated for research activities which is why UF in one of the top 15 research institutes in the world (Materials, engineering, Shands, to name a few stars). $3.5 million would only fund a lab for a few years these days.
Basketball? Football? Education?
Alumni? The real world wants to know whether a UF education and degree is what we Florida taxpayers are funding or are we emptying our wallets for commercial interests? Seems like now that basketball and football in the Florida University system are more about commerce than education and academic achievement.
The world wonders. Should the good citizens of Florida welcome back Mr. Donovan, or would we be better welcoming a laurate, a scientist, person of letters, etc. Coach Donovan has been part of a successful athletic team activity, and that is a good thing. Is that success though, what we Floridians want as a definition of the Florida University system?
Go Gators, maybe! How much more could Shands benefit the future of medicine in Florida if medicine took on the same funding level as sports? …. or engineering ….. or education …. or…. you get the point.
I am so happy for UF. When a man can say he “didn’t feel right in his heart” after signing with the Magic, that is a humble, honest, sincere man!
Gooo Gators
Student fees do not pay coaches salaries at the University of Florida. The Athletic budget is funded completely by donations from Gator Boosters Inc. And yes, whether you want to believe or not the Univeristy of Florida is the Harvard of the South.
So Little Billy Donovan has returned to the waiting arms of Lips Foley. What a mess…and maybe this will keep him there forever. Soon Booby Knight will be available for another coaching job…and the two would be great working together. True, UF is no Harvard…and not even close to FSU or Miami.
You are right UF is not the Harvard of the South. Harvard=Hubris and they cannot play football or basketball. Harvard does have tremendous Snob appeal.
The University of Florida is the best all-around University in the World.
Gator envy - You write as though UF is the Harvard of the South. Hate to spoil your phoney made up stats but UF isn’t the envy of the academic community in the country.
Championships or no championships, Donovan just exposed himself as an indecisive coach who not only cant be trusted to keep his word but acts in the most unprofessional manner when negotiating a contract. You can bet that no professional organization is going to enter negotiations with him in the future.
At UF, he has only one place to go (South towards Cuba).
Who is this complete retard that calls himself a “Drunken Goat” and which elementary school in Alabama or West Virginia did he fail to graduate from? I know we can’t prevent retarded in-breds from posting here, but there ought to a be a law that allows regular people to eliminate such uneducated drivel without being put in jail! I bet you’re a ‘Canes fan, too?
Yes. Faeled is failed and one should be one…..did not take typing!
GO GATORS!!!!!
Poor Donovan and Spurrier, they realize too late that the GATOR PROGRAM is powerful and HAS ALWAYS RECIEVED TREMENDOUS CRITICISM….but Donovan’s and Spurrier’s will come and go but the FLORIDA GATORS….THE GATOR NATION….will continue to solidy, improve and RISE!!
Though I agree, this should not be a news story…….they should focus on the team not the coach…its embarrassing when college programs get too close to pro caliber and playing for the love of the game mixes with money….
Well well…seems like the previous poster faeled his GED and suffers from a serious case of GATOR ENVY:)
Let’s see, the University of Florida has more Merit Scholars than any University in the world enrolled, requires a 4.2 GPA median to get in, is ranked by Kiplinger’s as the #2 State University in the country and …
Oh yes, has one 2 basketball and 1 football national championship in the past year….and is focused very sharply on continuing that record of acheivement rather then sitting on its laurels…
Well yes…the current PANDEMIC of GATOR ENVY is only to be expected :)
He probably realizes that he is a wuss who can’t handle real responsibility. Most Gators and Gator fans are wusses, weenies, gutless half-men, fakers, posers, and goat-fking losers.
Let’s face it. Donovan should be run out of town. The whole school at UF should be turned into a haircutting salon, or a school for doofuses. Oh, wait, it already is a school for doofuses.
Maybe FAU could take it over. Brogan could lie cheat and steal his way to the stop there, too, and line his gross buddies’ pockets with huge severance packages there too.
Crooks are everywhere. Billy Donovan, I hold your head down behind me, near my anus, and I release a cloud of gas in your face. In my dream, you enjoyed it and asked for more.**
