NBC Picks up 'Friday Night Lights'

NBC scored a touchdown with fans of Friday Night Lights by picking up the critically acclaimed, but low-rated, high school football drama for a second season. Despite unimpressive ratings, NBC's programming suits love the show and want to give it at least another year to find a bigger audience.

As I wrote recently, even though Lights is a drama about a small Texas town obsessed with high school football, you don't have to know anything about the game to enjoy the show. Lights is a wonderfully written and often tenderly acted drama that goes beyond the game of football to tackle such thorny issues as race, teen sexuality and infidelity with heart and intelligence.

Kudos to NBC for keeping the Lights on!

Carol,

I don't have a day and time yet when 'Lights' is airing in the fall. Check my blog on Monday, however, the day NBC announces its new fall schedule.

Hooray! My husband and I love this show and were so disappointed it was canceled. It seems that just when we get "hooked" on a good show it disappears off the radar. The characters are so well written and well acted, we wait each week to see what's going to happen next. We are thrilled that it is back on NBC. What night/time?
