My Weekly 'Dancing with the Stars' Report Card

“This will be the night that defines the season!”

Or so intoned Samantha Harris, the Dancing with the Stars co-host, in that annoying, throaty voice of hers. Pipe down, honey. It’s just a dance show.

Glad I got that off my chest. I feel better now. Moving on. It’s Tuesday. Report card time. Here goes…

Laila: Len said it all during Laila’s impressive quickstep: “The heat is on and you turned up the gas!” Ditto what he said! Laila’s so-so-sexy samba was the hot dance of the night. And girlfriend’s hair looked runway model gorgeous!
Grade: A

John: As the only Old Guy in the competition, John is doing well, but not well enough to stick around with The Big Boys and the one Big Gal. Edyta still does too much of the work. If Billy Ray isn’t sent packing, John probably will. I’ll miss him.
Grade: C

Apolo:
Sometimes it’s hard to take Apolo and Julianne seriously. They look like two little kids playing dress-up. I wasn’t crazy about their foxtrot. Was way too safe for me. They looked sexy-cool again, however, doing the mambo. I still want to pinch their wittle cheeks!
Grade: B

Ian: Kudos to Joey for giving Ian the smackdown! Sure, it’s a competition, but the last time I checked, you’re allowed to have some fun. Ian’s still too intense. You’re not undergoing a root canal, dude. It’s just dancing. Glad to see he finally let loose on his mambo routine. His shoulder shake needs work.
Grade: C+

Billy Ray: I could be wrong, but aren’t your feet supposed to move when you waltz? That wasn’t hoofing, it was lumbering. The Mummy moves faster. But Billy Ray’s samba to James Brown’s Living in America was much better.
Grade: C

Joey: You know why I love this guy? He makes me smile. He looks like he’s having the time of his life. And I can’t wait to see what he’s going to do next. If you don’t go home tonight, Ian, study Joey. Watch and learn. The man has skills - and a personality the size of Hollywood and The Big Apple.
Grade: A+

Laila is a good dancer, but she's also a professional athlete (like Apolo) so I would expect them to excel in a physical competition. Also, Joey Fatone is a professional dancer so he has an advantage as well. My personal favorite dance team is Ian and Cheryl. They have so much personality and give each dance 100% effort. Ian is not a professional dancer or athlete, but yet he has all the talent of the rest of them -- last week he received six straight "9s" from the judges. I hope he surprises everyone by giving his best performances in the next two weeks and capturing the trophy. If you like Ian and Cheryl, please do your part to vote for them on Monday -- vote 4 times for each phone number and 4 times online. Also, Ian has really cool videos on his websites at www.IanZiering.com and www.MySpace.com/OfficialIZ and there you can sign up to receive his fun email blasts.

I applaud Billy Ray Cyrus for taking a risk by going on Dancing With The Stars and learning the ballroom dances. He contributed a needed sense of realism to the show and tackled each dance with gusto and determination. My personal favorite dance team is Ian and Cheryl. They have so much personality and give each dance 100% effort. Ian is not a professional dancer (like Joey) or a professional athlete (like Apolo and Laila), so he's at a natural disadvantage, but yet he can go toe-to-toe with them in talent. Last week Ian received six straight "9s" from the judges. I hope he surprises everyone by giving his best performances in the next two weeks and capturing the trophy. If you like Ian and Cheryl, please do your part to vote for them on Monday -- vote 4 times for each phone number and 4 times online.
