The Summer TV Press Tour: Mr. T Speaks Out!

He still sports that trademark Mohawk. His rat-a-tat-tat speech pattern hasn't slowed with age. He still looks like he could kick your butt by just looking at you.
Yes, Mr.T is still, well, Mr. T. Wearing a dark suit, a striped purple tie and spanking white sneakers, Mr. I Pity The Fool killed during his 30-minute press briefing to talk about his new TV Land reality show premiering in October. Appropriately called I Pity The Fool, the show is part Dr. Phil, part Oprah and part Tony Robbins.
While you'll have to wait to read my Saturday Accent column on T and his new show, here are a few funny soundbites that should whet your appetitie until then.
* On why he pities the fools: You pity the fool 'cause you don't want to beat up the fool.
* On being close to his mom: I'm a momma's boy but I'm not a sissy momma's boy.
* On comparisons to Dr. Phil: My show ain't no Dr. Phil. On Dr. Phil they go, 'What's wrong with me? What's wrong with me?' You a fool!
* On his new TV home: I put the T in TV Land.
Okay, I had to comment because I LOVE Mr. T. I don't know why. I think it's because he makes fun of himself and doesn't take himself seriously. His Comcast commercials are HI-larious. I pity the Lynne who didn't get to meet him.
Rock on,Kevin.
