MTV VMAs: 9:30 - That's what I call a performance!

OK-Go is doing the first-ever live performance of their treadmill-based "Here It Goes Again" video, with them in full three-piece suit glory gracefully dancing and gliding across gmym equipment. This makes me proud to be covering music, because this is an event. This is old-time award show TV, where you can see musical performances that you can't see anywhere else. And not just Madonna kissing young girls, either. sure, there was lip-synching involved, but this was a performance. Not just a booty-shaking.

One of the "Jackass" guys has attached a lobster to his tongue, and the lobster is playing his part really well. A little too well, perhaps.

Dang it if that Paris Hilton song "Stars Are Blind" isn't catchy! Who knows how much of that is her voice, but if she had anything to do with it, kudos. It doesn't overdo that pop reggae thing so much you want to grab whoever programmed the drum machine and shake them.

All-American Rejects...that's nice.

Now it's Nick Lachey and Nicole Richie, presenting best Pop Video. I'd forgotten how many times Madonna was nominated. I'm gonna hate that song by the end of the night. She hasn't won anything so far, anyway. Pink won for "Stupid Girls" and she's making fun of those girls to the end "Oh my God! I won! It's awesome!" It's ironic that Nicole Richie is one of those girls, right? But she seems to get the joke...if it is a joke (evil laugh, evil laugh.)
