9:15 Lauren Bacall could still kick your butt.
The legendary Miss Lauren was just struggling through her introduction about Film Noir, dropping a line, seemingly forgetting her place and then, just like a strong dame, picking it up and finishing strong. That's classy.
"Judy Dench took my eye out in a bar fight" is the new "I wish I knew how to quit you." Pass it on.
Posted by Leslie Streeter at March 5, 2006 9:19 PMLauren Bacall is my Aunt Edna at my Bar Mitzvah...AFter smoking a pack of cigarettes...."Darling...Uncle Morty and I are so proud of you...cough!!! cough!!!
And Leslie, what, Melissa is JUST a friend now?? Do your laundry elsewhere...Oh wait that's Dan and Karen....
Leslie:
We want you on our show tomorrow morning to chat about this! I hate the music during the speeches.
I don't get some of the presenters...Jennifer Lopez, Jennifer Anniston....Owen and Luke Wilson...how many Oscars have they been nominated for....0??
I missed the Ben Stiller thing.....
Sally
Posted by: Mo and Sally at March 5, 2006 9:33 PMWell, Owen Wilson was nominated for an Oscar for writing The Royal Tennenbaums. And Jennifer Aniston was nominated for an Independant Spirit Award for the Good Girl. No, not an Oscar, but still...
Posted by: Best Friend Nikki at March 5, 2006 9:40 PMRussell's role wasn't gay enough to get an Oscar nod. Do you know how old I am? I remember seeing most of those black-and-white montage pix. The word of today kiddies is "montage!" It has seven letters, so it'll get me 50 additional points. I remember Edward R. Murrow. Boy, he smoked a lot on the air and was chillingly nerveless. When Mike Wallace finally retires, there will be no more crusading newsmen left. If you don't believe, consider the rumor that Katie Couric will take over when Scheiffer calls it quits. Which brings us back to Jon Stewart and the Daily Show - the only source today for hard-hitting news--with laughs!
Do you think that the people at the podium are somewhat intimidated by the music in the background. Do they feel that the band will come in and literally blow them away?
Excuse me...I feel an urge to go to the nearest window and shout, "I'm mad as hell and I won't take it anymore!!" I liked the last montage. Anything with Atticus Finch in it is special!
I take issue with seeing film strictly in the movie house. My DVD allows me to see Harry Potter's words because I can't understand Brit kid speak. While in my PJ's. Love me some Netflix!
Speaking which, last week I saw Salma Hyett in "Frida." She was great as the Mexican artist. However, I was more impressed with Alfred Molina. Have yet to see him in a bad role.
A beer commercial in front of a hair conditioner commercial. Another reason for DVD's! See ya!
