Mortgage scammer sentenced to 37 months

Convicted mortgage scammer Berry Louidort was sentenced this afternoon to 37 months in federal prison for his role in using dozens of properties to rip off lenders for millions.

U.S. District Judge Donald Middlebrooks also ordered Louidort to pay $11.6 million in restitution.

No new details about the case emerged during a brief hearing this afternoon in West Palm Beach. The Haitan-born Louidort offered a couple unintelligible sentences when it was his time to speak, and his attorney asked that he serve his time in South Florida.

Louidort was caught on videotape earlier this year describing a scam to an undercover FBI agent. Read more about the scam here.
