Palm Beach County room rates seventh-highest in nation, Smith Travel Research says

This week’s news that a Chicago investor is turning two office buildings in West Palm Beach into hotels makes more sense with this bit of context: Palm Beach County has the nation’s seventh-highest room rates.

Palm Beach County’s average through the first eight months of the year was $163, ahead of San Francisco, D.C., and Boston, according to Smith Travel Research:

  1. Maui Island: $280

  2. New York: $261

  3. Hawaii-Kauai Islands: $211

  4. Florida Keys: $196

  5. Oahu Island: $173

  6. Miami: $167

  7. Palm Beach County: $163

  8. San Francisco: $155

  9. Washington, DC: $152

  10. Boston: $151
