Rededicating myself

I have read over and over again how stress can effect your weight and overall health. Well I’m here to tell you… they are right! I have been under unbelievable stress over the past couple of months. Along with the everyday stress of traffic, work, school, housework, family, etc., it seems I have more projects on my plate than ever. I’m stressed at work with closing out our busy season and planning for a major conference. I’ve been facing the stress of interviewing for a promotion (I got the job!!!). I’ve been stressed at home helping out with the arrangements for my boyfriend’s graduation and birthday parties (Congratulations Mario!!!). On top of all of that, we’re thinking of buying a house, and we all know how stressful that can be.

I’ve been under so much stress, in fact, that my health is constantly sacrificed. My doctor has to get on me all of the time about eating right, getting enough sleep, and making time for exercise.

Everything seems to be catching up with me. I haven’t felt completely healthy since early-February. We discussed how hectic my life has been and the toll it’s taking on my health. It seems that my body reached a stage where it shut down because it wasn’t getting the attention it needed. I started gaining weight, my energy levels were really low, I would get sick at the drop of a dime, and as soon as I recovered, I’d get sick again.

I finally decided to put an end to this vicious cycle and refocus my attention to myself.

My weight reached 196 lbs. (my highest weight ever). Now I’m back down to 183 lbs. I haven’t had time to make it to the gym in weeks, but I’ve been working out at home. I bought some small home-gym equipment, which helps when I get the urge to workout at 1 in the morning.

My biggest concern is still improving my eating habits. I am working on it though. I want to see a noticeable change in my body by my birthday, which is only a few weeks away (April 29).

I want to thank my family, friends, and co-workers for the continued support. To my team: Keep up the great work and stay focused on the overall goal-healthy bodies. Happy Birthday Christian!
