Age: 44
Job: Fitness coach
Town: Alpharetta
Height, weight: 6 feet; 215
Goal: 185 pounds
Biggest pitfall: Continuing to eat 6,000 calories after a big race as though he were still in training for a big race.
Regular exercise: Bikes, runs and swims about five hours a day.
Quote: “I’d just love to be able to stay under 200.”
Battle-with-the-bulge history: At one time an information technology specialist with Arthur Andersen, Andrus had a desk job — and a desk lifestyle. Just five years ago, he weighed 285 and never worked out. He overate and overdrank alcohol. Seeing a favorite uncle die because of poor health habits, Andrus did a 180. Now he wants to get his weight there.
