Doing better than surviving
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Not a bad weekend for Bulldogs.
The baseball team won the SEC regular season title up in Nashville. So continues our baffling great year/bad year rotation … one that hopefully we won’t stick to next year. (It’d sure help if we didn’t lose all our stars to the bigs.)
The men’s and women’s tennis teams have both made it to the NCAA Sweet 16 again. The women’s golf team is in the NCAA finals.
And while it wasn’t an NCAA-sanctioned event, another Bulldog did quite well for herself Sunday night with a national TV audience, as Alpharetta native and UGA grad Parvati Shallow won the latest “Survivor” competition, taking home the million-dollar prize.
I haven’t watched “Survivor” regularly since its second season, but when my son mentioned that the sister of one of his friends was still in the running and that he had met her at her sister’s graduation party in Athens a couple of nights before, I decided to join him in watching the finale. Parvati (who didn’t quite make it to the finals in another “Survivor” a couple of years ago but was one of the fan favorites brought back for this season) proved to be a master strategist and a lot of fun to watch. And it was cool to see her wearing her UGA cap much of the time!
A couple of big woofs to all the weekend’s UGA winners, and especially to the Diamond Dogs and Parvati Shallow on their championships!

The question thay everyone wants to know, does Parvati think that Stafford or Tebow is the better college quarterback?

Hey Cuz, someone sent me this article about Tebow, and as much I don’t really care about the gators, this was really good. I’ll try and post the link but it was on ESPN by Schlabach.

Rumor has it Billy Joe Madison (Consumer Ec, ‘97) also recently won $1,000 in a Ga Lottery scratch-off game, instantly doubling his net worth.

Lesson here: UGA grads need the lottery and reality TV to earn money. Tech grads earn it by putting UGA grads to work.
Get a life people. If UGA didn’t have sports, the rednecks would only be concerned with which size trailer to buy: single or double wide.

Well, add reality TV performances to the laundry list of UGA successes the Techies are envious of, just when you thought they couldn’t get any more pathetic with their obvious jealousy…

You failed to mention another UGA grad (undergraduate/law degrees) and “Survivor”. A few years ago Paschal English (Pappy), made it to the last vote and lost by the (bad) luck of the draw. Until that time he was the only player never to receive a vote to leave.

Tech puts billboards up begging people to buy their football tickets. Uga puts billboards up begging people to hire ther grads.

p.s., maybe Tom and LOL will appear infront of Judge English one day and make their sophomoric/nerd remarks.

LOL, Tom was joking about the Billy Joe Madison winning the lottery. There really is no “Billy Joe Madison, Lottery Winner.” If you had a sense of humor, or at least enough intelligence to catch a joke… Well, it won’t ever happen, so there’s no need to speculate.

The “Survivor” life lesson: Dawgs can thrive in any kind of environment, no matter what “challenges” are thrown at ‘em.
Good for her!
Great news that the Diamond Dogs continued their run against the Nerds at Turner Field. Looking forward to the weekend series with Bama … and beyond. Hopefully WAY beyond.

shut your pie hole LOL and get a life— there are necks that graduate from tech as well—along with every other freakin university in the country. Dont bring your bad attitude on here—keep it on North Ave with your free hot dogs.

There is a new entry in the reality show lineup. It’s called “Jackets in Boise”. Cameras follow the Techies around during their annual visit to Boise. Riveting.

Hey DWG ! Foxworthy never graduated.Check it out. Unless he pulled a Joe Hamilton senior citizen graduation. He was afraid it would kill his career.

Jeff Foxworthy went to Tech, what a let down. And on the same day I found out that Larry the Cable Guy was born in Nebraska.

King,
AJC reports “Tech’s Hamilton arrested on drug charges.” So why doesn’t AJC report “UGA’s Grant arrested on murder charges”?
AJC is so biased for ugay and against Tech. Another clear example.

I was very, very, very disapointed to see coach Richt make a political statement regarding his trip to Iraq. It’ll be hard or impossible for me to see him in the same light as before. He could have given the soldiers 100% support without commenting on the wisdom of the war itself.
