Now THAT’S the way!

The key to Georgia’s win Saturday?

For the first time in years, they didn’t play like they were afraid of the Gators. Coach Mark Richt finally remembered from his FSU days what kind of attitude your team needs to have going into a game with Florida.

Plus, Knowshon proved he’s SEC freshman of the year, no doubt.

That was the story, not a bruised shoulder.

As a signer of the Jacksonville Convention, I invoke the winner’s priveledges. Gator fans cannot talk smack for the next 50 weeks. Dawg fans get to say how great we are and how lousy the Gators are until next year.

I would like to personally thank our good luck charm, Buck Cochran for overcoming all adverities and making the game. Buck, the team won the game, but this one is for you buddy.

DAWGS WIN, DAWGS WIN, DAWGS WIN!!!

How about the “young” O-line! For that matter, this was a definite team effort for the win.

Knowshon the Wonder Dawg for SEC freshman of the year. What a Dawg. What a team effort.

I knew we would win when the entire team ran out on the first touchdown and celebrated in the endzone. I will take that penalty anytime.

Cuz,

Buck called me just before the Florida center flubbed that snap and Ellerbe got it to seal the victory. It was so loud I couldn’t hear him and he couldn’t hear me, but I could hear him woofing it up especially on those 4 long completions of Stafford’s even that 46 yarder that got called back on a bad call.

The OL looked great again today and is really starting to take control of the line of scrimmage.

I gotta give major props to CMR’s TD celebration order. I always thought CMR’s mild-mannered, stoic approach to the game was his best and worst coaching trait. I was so fired up watching that TD celebration I couldn’t sit down. Yes there were penalties, but the team played fired up for 4 qtrs. All the folks that think it was classless can eat it. We got the W…brilliant move, great game. GO DAWGS

I don’t have much time or desire to say a lot because for this ol’ Dawg, beating the Gators is enough without a lot of “blogging.” That said, it’s funny that the AJC’s website is a bit slow tonight what with (probably) a lot of Dawgs wanting to “Vent” and dump a lot of frustration. That is fine, ladies and gentlemen. So what?? You want to make a lot of hay with that, then either 1) move to another state if you’re privileged enough to live in the great State of Georgia, or 2) go read the stupid Gainesville, Birmingham, Knoxville, Columbia, etc. newspapers and lap that up….

Enough of that. Well, it looks like the Dawgs have imposed their will upon a team from Florida named the Gators. I for one want the game in Jacksonville FOREVERMORE! Like ol’ Coach Russell used to say, “there’s NOTHING like being a Georgia Bulldog on a Saturday night after beating the Florida Gators!”

I for one, salute the ol Gators because they gave us everything we expected plus a little more. This one was a one-game highlight reel for anyone wearing Red & Black, but obviously not so keen for the Blue and Orange. I still want this one on the banks of the St. John’s River. Only a Dawg and/or a Gator can understand that…

Go Dawgs!!

Enjoy yourselves you Puppies. You played Florida when their QB was playing hurt and two of their best receivers were not even there. It’s still great to see Florida with three SEC losses. I guess you think you are in first place but think again. Both Carolina and Tennessee are ahead of you on head to head matchups. Whoever wins between them tonight will be in the drivers seat for the SEC East Championship.

We are still alive in the east. I would rather see SC beat Tenn, because I believe Florida would beat SC and we could be back in Atlanta playing LSU. That is if we win out. It will be tough, but if we can play with that kind of emotion, then anyhing is possible.

By aaron

October 27, 2007 9:35 PM | Link to this

That was awesome!! I thought it was great for the team to come out after the first td. it was so funny to see FL trying to emulate the emotion on their side. At that point I knew we would win. The stoic days of UGA footbal are gone. We can’t go and put the toothpaste back into the tube. These kids are going to have a classy swagger and I see nothing but great things to come. Moreno is the man. Stafford showed Teblow how to be a pocket passer. He won that battle. If Teblow can’t run, which he will have to do to survive in the SEC for the next 2 years, he will need to have a new offense built around him. 6 sacks!! Awesome. As for Stafford, now he will have the confidence we need from our leader. 2 more years of he and Moreno are going to be awesome. This game changes this team, much like Pollacks take-away fumble against USC did in 02. We are moving forward again.

By Dr Morpheus

October 27, 2007 10:30 PM | Link to this

If the 1Q celebration in the endzone was RIcht’s dark side coming out, he’s still pretty close to being squeaky clean. That wasn’t evil. It was the Dawgs having fun and calling the Gators out. The angry reaction from CUM (yes, pun intended) was perfect. He took it personally. And we kept right on having fun.

I live down in Baton Rouge and have noted another straight-arrow, Les Miles, recently start showing some attitude. Next thing you know, he’s throwing into the endzone while in field goal range with a time out left. leaving one sec on the clock. Bad call? I don’t think. Leadership is everything; and Mark Richt getting tired of being such a temperate guy and showing some attitude is just what the Dr ordered. I sense that CMR has stepped up to the next level. And the Matt, KnowShoMo, and all the Dawgs will follow. As we say down here on the bayou, “Laissez le bon temps roulet!”

I’m still recovering from the game. You don’t know how good it feels to win especially when you live in FL. To not have to listen to UF smack talk at least for a year (or 2,3,4 keep going) is priceless.

After hearing about all the losing UGA has done against UF lately I realized that the last 4 years the Bulldogs are actually doing pretty well.

Georgia won in 04, would have one in 05 if DJ played, lost in 06 by a touchdown after giving the game away with turnovers, and now won in 07 by playing with emotion.

UGA has won 2 of the last 4 and it would have NO DOUBT won 3 of the last 4 if Shockley had played. (I know Tebow was hurt but who cares he at least played DJ could not).

Georgia is not doing bad at all. The Bulldogs just have to keep playing with emotion…play to WIN and who knows what will happen. GO DAWGS

Tebow’s injury and Georgia’s bye played a bigger role than the fake celebration. The Florida players thought it was disrespectful and “fake juice”. I thought it was totally bush league. Go ahead…make all your Tebow jokes, perverted comments, and lizzard jokes…for one year. You have earned the right, but they will end this time next year! As they do every 5 out of every 6 years. The Gators will return with a terrible bite…count on it! I remember after the last Dog victory how all of you proclaimed the end of the Gator dynasty. Well it returned again, as it will again in 2008.

Ok…Ok…Ok…Calm Down…you finally win one over in the Gators, which now improves your record with Florida now winning 15 of the last 18 and is still a good winning percentage for Florida.

Get a dose of reality:

  1. You will allowed Florida to post 30 on you and UGA will lose most games when allowing any opponent to post up 30. Florida lost 3-4 starting defensive lineman to injury, so take it down a notch.

  2. Tebow posted 236 passing yards thus outperforming Baby Face Stafford, who is still the most overrated QB in D-1. Uh yeal, Tebow had no interceptions as oppposed to Stafford who threw 1 INT for a Florida touchdown, again fallin back off he right foot. Nice QB coach for UGA, that who needs to be fired.

  3. The win over Florida is nice, but quit acting like you just won a National Championship on the first score. This was embarassing for our state so please stop. Act more like a champion, oh I fogot that has not happened since 1980…carry on.

  4. Spurrier still owns you, plain and simple.

  5. UT stepped on your face this year.

  6. Where is everyone calling for Martinez and Bobo to resign, they are still the worst DC and OC in D-1, but now all of sudden they are God. This is the crux of the problem with this program: up and down, flavor of the day.

Step up and win a National Title, then you can dance and get some respect, but until then please show some maturity and quit acting like some minor league football who finally wins one over a Florida Powerhouse who has dominated you over the past 2 decades.

Terrence Moore this the nail on the head: UGA remains and the most undisciplined, taunting and overrated team in D-1 football, and until they grow up and win the big ones they will continue to be mediocre.

Set a higher goal, other than a win over an SEC rival.

To say that we “didn’t play like we were afraid of the Gators” is asinine to me.

Of all the close games we’ve lost to the Gators over the years, you think it’s cause we were scared of them?????

Terrence Edwards dropping a wide-open potential game winner across the middle was because we were afraid of them?

Lumpkin fumbling last year for 6 the other way was because he was scared?

Losing to Fla. by 4 with Tereshinski at QB was because we were scared?

Sorry…that’s a lame and easy excuse for a couch potato but we simply haven’t made the deciding play to win these games.

Fear has nothing to do with it.

Players are offended by that misnomer and rightly so.

Coach Richt’s decision to send the team onto the field after the first score was terrific. You knew that even if UGA lost, well…….There was NO way they were going to lose after that moment. It even fired up the Gators. Did you see Tebow and the Gators moments later? That was a GREAT college football moment, and one of the most entertaining Georgia-Florida games in years, dare I say “ever.”

The celebration was un-Mark Richt like. But I’m glad he did it. I was shocked, heck the whole bulldawg nation was. Loosen these kids up, play hard and have fun, instead of being so uptight and worry about making mistakes. The players definitely had fun and with some swaggers. We needed it.

I have been waiting to say this for a long time to you Gator trash: We still lead the series by about 10 games I believe but of course any games before 1990 don’t count. We have 12 SEC championships to your 7. Georgia football has a proud tradition going back to the 40’s where your so called tradition is about 15 minutes. You are classless and despised all around the SEC. You have always been arrogant and cocky even when you were losers for about 50-60 years. No wonder everyone from Knoxville to Baton Rouge hates you.

Anyone (Terrence Moore)complaining about this hasn’t watched the trash talking, taunting, bad sportsmanship of the gators for the last twenty five years.

One more parting shot: Urban does a lot better with a Ron Zook team. Get use to this feeling gator fans.

I grew up in central Florida. I listened to all their whiny excuses through the Georgia stretch. I listened to all of their taunts the past through the Florida stretch.

I am NOT a fair weather fan. I love Richt. Love him, love him, love him…But the defense was still VERY suspect. Yes, we hung 6 sacks on Tebo. But how many times did UF go down the field in 4 plays???? Let’s not forget that a “hurt” Tebo hung 30 points on us! Stafford and Moreno saved our butts today! I’d still like to see someone, anyone but Martinez as the D coord.

There’s no place for humility on a football field. Players of the hip-hop generation respect swagger, CMR brought installed that swagger into the mentality of the players all week. I think Georgia will benefit from his newfound attitude, I’ve noticed that the LSU coach also have changed his demeanor over the last couple of years, and LSU has been better because of it. As CMR said the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over while expecting a different result.

The OL did Great.Stafford did a good job,Sean Bailey was catch everything that was throw at him like normal.CMR had a plan and did a great job.Mike Bobo did a great job.Now to what bothers me I was listening to Scott Howard and Eric Zeier after the game and they were talking about how great the defense played. You give up 30 points and thats great. The team that scored the the least amount of point on this time was twelve. What happened to shut outs.It left three years ago with Brian Vangorder,to be undefeated we need a great defense. With ASU next year comming in and all the other though games we have. That why I say fire or demoat wille, and bring back Brian vangorder. Then we won’t have to jump up and down on the field and jump into the stands to get jacked up.Vangorder always was the one who got everybody up for all the games.Fire wille.

I was pleased to see Georgia win, but was surprised at the excessive celebration. I thought Georgia had won games before. UGA acted like this was a Vandy win over Southern California or something.

I wont say it was classless, but it seemed indicative of a team that didn’t know how to win and was surprised.

Sure the CMR celebration surprised me, but it got the team fired up and they maintained that intensity.

You Florida fans need to take a class in humility. I did not come on here in 2005 and say the only reason we lost was because Shockley was hurt. I came on and congradulated the UF team for winning. Except for Atlanta Gator, all you guys have are excuses and the moral victory of putting 30 points on us. I don’t see a column for moral victories and how many moral victories does it take to get bowl eligible. You guys may loudly proclaim you have Tebow for next year, well we have the New Jersey Superman, Knowshon Moreno.

I’m generally against anything that smacks of disrespect or bad sportsmanship. I defended Coach Richt’s actions after the Vandy game as a case of mistaken identity. I still don’t beleive that the Dawgs were intentionally doing the logo hop, and after reviewing the film I think that Coach felt a little remorse for his actions. This display after the first TD was just his way of saying “sorry guys”, I made a mistake. I have to admit when it happened I became emotionally verklempt and I just knew there was NO WAY the DAWGS were gonna lose this game. I’ll bet that’s just the way those 70 guys felt too. Brilliant psychological ploy. It enabled David to go out and slay Goliath. Too bad the shelf life for that is 1 game. The real job may be motivating them for Troy next week.

The team was just showing emotion which carried over the entire game. It was so cool to see the Gator players standing there looking stupid not knowing what to do while the players partied. When using the word CLASSLESS, the ONLY two words that go next to it are “Florida Gators.” Running up the score on other teams in the 4th quarter, whining, making excuses, etc. JUST FACE IT GAYLOSERS, YOU LOST! All of this crap about 15 out of 18, never has meant anything. THE DAWGS OWN THE GATORS, as we lead the series. The Dawgs beat the Gators and the Zebras last night. What a bunch of terrible calls, and no-calls. The double penalty on the “celebration”. The double face-mask when the replay plainly showed the gator with a handfull of face-mask. A gator pulling off a Dawg’s helmet with his face-mask, and no penalty. A line-of-scrimmage penalty called by a guy 30 yards down field, and after the completion. I could go on, but the dawgs overcame it all. Go you Hairy Dawgs!!! This is not the greatest upset in college football Stanford-USC 2007 was.

By the way, I just did a check on CMR’s record at UGA and I am not sure what you guys are complaining about. On average since his time at UGA he will have a 10 win season plus or minus 2 games. So at best you might be 12-0 and at at worst 8-5.

Very few teams can do better than this and strive to be just this good. It takes a very good team to be a USC and requires your team to be in a weaker conference. Even the Pac-10 has caught up to them in talent. Parity has overtaken college football.

So please stop the complaining you are an always will be a very good team. Sometimes you guys come across as being very ungreatful.

You Dawgs are something else. I had no idea the frustration level was so high.

You played very well and deserved the victory. On the other hand, deep down in your hearts where the truth roams free, you have to know that you did not face a full-speed Tim Tebow yesterday. And the Gators still scored 30.

Also, while the Gator secondary is admittedly porous this year, your stellar offensive performance in yesterday’s game came with not a single Gator defensive line starter playing in the second half.

As for the stunt after your first TD; really classy move. You can probably plan on getting 50 hung on you next year for that one.

So enjoy the win. We’ll probably be enjoying the national championship next year.

Sadly, Terrence Moore has once again proven he knows absolutely nothing about sports and should find a new job where he might actually be respected. Go take a small lesson in group dynamics and leadership and you will realize what was done by Richt wasn’t out of character at all He was finally forced into a situation where the lack of player leadership forced him to artificially create that energy. Sid, It’s great to be a Florida Gator. We are hated for good reason: We are easily the strongest SEC program of the last 20 years. Many more SEC titles and two national championships.

Next year we add a great running back, and our number one high school recruit just happens to be a safety.

You happened to catch the Gators with seven of their 22 starters injured. And they still put 30 on you. Yeah, you really killed ‘em.

By TampaGator

October 28, 2007 3:40 PM | Link to this

Red and Black. You must be blind, I guess. Georgia was not opening up huge holes in the Gator line in the first half. You got a lucky fumble recover return deep into out territory and a long pass play. That was it. It wasn’t until the Gators lost most of their DL in the second half that you started to run the ball…most of the time against freshman at the DT position…and most of them had not played much this year…Davis, Marsh, Sanders…and at the end the Gators had true freshmen DE playing at the DT positions. The loss of Harvery for most of the second really hurt and helped allow all those cut back runs. You caught the Gators at the right time, with all the tough games in a row…and the many injuries. But luck is part of the game, and you had yours this year. Enjoy it while you can. It WILL be short lived, especially since your head coach tried to show us up. If you stub your toe in any of the final 3 games, and the Vols lose another, and the Gators win out…the Gators will win the SEC East even though we lost to you (based on more wins in the East). How will that stick in your crawl? Good luck against Auburn. You don’t have a chance!

Patient Gator, you haven’t paid attention if you think Richt would run up the score if given the opportunity. He sat on the ball against Auburn last year and Ok St. this year with chances to pad big leads. Just admit your boys like to run up the score and quit making excuses. Everyone knows it.

Ed, no, injuries did not cause us to lose the other games. Injuries were just the tipping point yesterday. Most of our losses this season have been the direct result of having to play three freshmen in the secondary.

Georgia would have put up big points against us yesterday regardless, for the same reason. I just believe we would have outscored you and we probably would have kept you under 40 absent the injuries.

If you want to characterize that assessment as whining or making excuses, that’s fine. I prefer to view it more as analysis. I have no problem whatsoever saying that I believe the Bulldogs played well and deserved to win the game.

And if you average 40 points in your remaining games, I’ll certainly consider the Bulldogs to be a much better team than I currently believe they are.

If Tebow were actually a QB instead of a fullback who throws slightly better than a defensive tackle, he would have been able to win the game with his ARM, which last I checked was not hurt.

Look, we had Shockley entirely out in 2005. Tebow’s off-shoulder was “bothering” him, AND THAT’S YOUR EXCUSE?????

That cncouragement of the celebration has to be one of the most brilliant strokes in the history of recent college coaching.

Just absolutely off-the-scale incredible. Read the explanation on David Ching’s blog of the effect the celebration had on the Georgia players. They explain how it made them unafraid to make any mistakes because the coach had told them to make one and have a great time doing so. Therefore there was nothing left to lose, play our hearts out and have fun. Brilliant.

You Gators are truly IDIOTS!!!

TEX/Tampa etc…… Screw your lame a* excuses! I could go on and on about excuses or refs calling game for UF for the last 15 years. You all forget that D.J. being out in 2005 handed your school a win. Fact of the matter is your coach is a jerk, and his stupid offense will lead to many more 3 loss seasons in SEC play. Everyone down here down south dispises UF! I got cool friends from Bama/Auburn/TN and we all laugh at your ugly chicks and the high % of jean shorts on your fans. Cryer is way overrated. Your National Championship team last year would have lost by 20+ TO UGA 2002, Auburn 2005 and so many other quality teams that never had the chance. That was the sorriest/weakest team I ever seen to Back its A* into the NC game. IDIOTS Teebow AINT GONNA BE ABLE TO RUN IT every week in SEC play, and cryer’s got loads of quality backups to replace him right??( man I sure did love seeing him on the ground so many times ) UF plays like the thugs of Miami and FSU in the 80’s. Yall get free cheap shots in Jax and calls always go your way. Guess what you jean short freaks!!!! Richt just got prob 4-6 more recruits watching last night that were about to be suckered into Cryers joke of a scheme!!! Thats the way you win big!!! Look cool doing it. If I was a highly prized Lineman or speed guy watching last night UGA team/coaches and their fans are just flat out BETTER to be a part of. We are #1 class right now and I bet this win helps us take directly some of the top guys Cryer wanted!!! Dawgs gonna win a few in a row over you overrated green lizards. That team of ours is gonna be around for awhile. Get used to losing Gayturds.

All You Gators,Since SOS you lose 3 to 5 games a year, other than last years luck fest.Your defense is pathetic. We would have punted only once without the long pass to Bailey on a bad call being brought back. Here is some Stats for you LAST PLACE in the SEC in pass defense. All I got to say is you guys ought to send SC’s kicker one of them NC rings yall are so proud of because SOS out coached and outplayed you other than a kicker kicking about 3 kicks low last year,or you lose for the second year in a row to SOS.What agravates me so bad is yall have the week off all those other games ,and us without about 5 starters in 2003 and Shockley in 2005 you squeak by us and act like you’ve dominated us like SOS did when yall beat us 45-13 etc.I know Tebow was hurt but that had nothing to do with your pathetic defense. Why don’t yall put together a couple of years(you know more than one)where you out play teams.SOS is gone.Enjoy your one lucky year.

As a Geogia fan I’m am thrilled with the victory over Florida but I am not thrilled with how it was achieved. I have always respected Coach Richt for the higher values he appeared to teach and have his players aspire to but the display of unsportsman conduct by the team harkens back to Coach Richt’s days at the University of Miami when it was known as Thug U. If he continues to encourage this style of play it will reflect negatively on the University and ultimately be seen in NCAA penalties against the team. I am sure Florida has a long memory and payback will be as harsh. Coach Richt has demonstrated hypocritical behavior between how he condemned the player’s action after the Vandebilt game and the actions he encouraged against Florida. Georgia should demand respect for being a quality University on and off the field. Let’s hope Coach Richt can get his signals straight before getting the program branded as the next thug univeristy.

Gators, just get over it. Quit whining about why you let us win and worry about your next game. Patient Gator I am sorry, analysis=excuses. Last year I said we lost because the better team won. No “analysis”.

Under the terms of the Jacksonville Convention, you Gators cannot say that you have the better team. You are precluded from talking smack for the next 50 weeks. This “classless” Dawg fan obeyed the agreement last year. Your turn.

I prefer to think that UGA football did not begin until 2004, just like UF football did not begin until 1990. Therefore the record is 2 out of 4.

Tampa/Tex, guys take the lost and live with it… geez. Yeah, I believed the bye week really benefit and plays to its advantage. Georgia were banged up, lost some of our key guys(DJ Shock) for the cocktail game in the past. For once, it’s nice to have a week off and observe our opponents. Next season, it’s back to normal sked again. Fla has a bye week b4 Georgia, I believe.

If Vandy makes it to a bowl, it would be 11 bowl teams on our sked next season… GaSouthern, Cinci, USC, Arizona State, Bama, LSU, Tenn, Vandy, Fla, AU, KY, and GT. Could be the toughest sked in the nation next season. Just thought I throw that in there.

Meanwhile, we got to get ready for Troy.

As for the celebration who cares…I personally did not like it because it made us look like we had never scored a touchdown before but I guess it worked. If we play with that intensity the rest of the season we may actually end up in Atlanta the first week of Dec. Win or lose the rest of the way I want to see that nasty attitude every week! Great win!!!

While Im at it I left out another interesting stat. While yall(minus SOS) lost 5 games 3 years in a row.We won 3 SEC east divisions. And for all you Gators that want to talk about how much better a coach Cryer is here some observations of late.In the Auburn loss how did you guys like him letting about 30 seconds run off the clock before using one of his 3 timeouts with less than 2 minutes in the game.Could you have used that 30 seconds after Tebows run to Auburns side of the field that left you with 12 seconds instead of 40 seconds. What about scoring when you could have took a knee at Ken. 3 yard line and give them no shot at winning .The funniest was how SOS the first year beat him .Made fun of him for burning about 6 and 1/2 minutes of the clock when he was two scores down and had only about 8 minutes in the ball game. Its a shame SOS is not playing for his 3rd win in a row this year with that awesome South Carolina load of talent Lou left him.You know the team the year before lost about 72 to 10 to Clemson the year before. What a laugh.

All these comments are great. Gayterds say act like we’ve been there before. Are they serious? These must be the bandwagon fans that jumped on in the Spurrier years.

Excuses: 1.our quarterback was hurt - Well get him out of that stupid gimmick offense before it ruins his NFL career. Its your own fault!!!

  1. Our def. line was out — That’s because we kocked the dogs$#% out of them. It’s football!!!

  2. You taunted us and hurt our feelings— Your UF who cares, everybody hates you anyway

And as far as never been there, we’ve been there way more than you so work on your memory. College football began way before Spurrier.

Final thought—SEC coaches have figured out the Urban Cryier gimmick scheme so get used to 8-4

Awesome win and should everyone be commended…absolutely! This only supports the critics of Martinez. The difference was scheme and ATTITUDE and who is responsible for it…Martinez! Yes he called a good game just like he did last year against Auburn so if you are satisfied with a defense that shows up a couple of times a year then you need to go “SUPPORT” UK. DC’s don’t get fired for a bad loss or a bad season. You should get fired for lack of productivity and consistency over several years. If the D plays great the rest of the way then that should be included when evaluating the body of work. For those calling for Bobo’s head after less than a full season as a coordinator that is simply stupid!

Too funny seeing the “wait till next year” posts here! Then there’s the smack about tradition and domination over the (insert chosen time frame in an attempt to prove your point) smack talkers. So, lets deal with facts. All time win /loss records for the SEC establishes the rich tradition of many programs, not the johnny come latelies. thru the 2006 season Bama leads with 780 wins and 305 loses abnd 11 National Championships, followed by Tennessee with 761 wins, 316 loses and 4 NCs, follwed by UGA with 703 wins, 379 loses and 2 NCs, follwed by LSU with 681 wins 376 loses and 2 NCs, follwed by Auburn with 674 wins, 384 loses and 1 NC, ARK with 636 wins, 434 loses and 1 NC, then Florida with 619 wins, 368 loses and 2 NCs.

If you look at winning percentages, the GAYTORS still rank behind Bama, UT, GA, LSU and Auburn. Smack talk all you want, but the swagger has been taken away. LSU, UGA, UT and Auburn have proven they can beat Sub Urban Meyers. Face it, the ride is over. Miles, Saban, Spurrier, Richt, Tuberville and Fulmer know how to beat Florida.

As far as the celebration penalty-

To the Fla and others fans: I don’t care what you think about it.

To the UGA fans who want to compare it to the Vandy ordeal or act like it is some kind of black mark against CMR’s character:

The decision to take that kind of penalty boils down to two things; the purpose and the accountability for it. At Vandy the only purpose was to rub a loss in the face of the opponant, after the game and with no accountability for the action. CMR thought that the celebration was out of line because the purpose for it was out of line. There was a big difference on Saturday against the Gators. The purpose was to send a message to the team, the fans, and maybe even to the Gators. The look in the eyes of Tebow, Meyers, and the gator fans showed that the message got accross. The UGA team showed that they got the message. Most of the fans have gotten the message, but not all of you.

It had a chance to backfire, but backfire or not, everyone knew that the Dawgs were in the house and fired up with energy and emotion, I’m not at all concerned with so called “payback” from the gators in years to come.

It was important to do the celebration after the first score, after the last score would have been classless, but we did our thing at the begining so that if the Gators had anything to say about it, we gave them 4 quarters to get it said. That is part of the accountability, we gave the Gators a full game to hold us accountable for it, if they could… we dared them to. The other part of the accountability was that we knew we would suffer a 15 yard penalty and basically give the gators at least 3 points with field position.

We had a purpose for it and we were willing to do it in a way that we paid a price in being accountable for it… NOTHING classless about it. Again, classless would have been rubbing the Gators’ faces in the loss after the last T.D. not the first. What we did is told our team, our fans, and the Gators that we were here to whoop some a$$ if you don’t like it, you’ve got the whole game ahead of you to do something to stop us. It was one of the greatest psyhcological manuevers I’ve ever witnessed, for our own fans to miss the boat on it is very sad.

GatorNation, you sir are a class act. I tip my red G cap to you sir. The terms of the convention only apply to smack talk for 50 weeks. You get the two weeks before the game to smack talk all you want. If you follow the history of this blog, I waited for the Sunday, two weeks ago to start smack talking. I will continue to abide by the terms of the Jax Convention and let the winner smack talk all year and the loser, no smack till the end of the 50th week. It does not mean you cannot come on here and support your team. It just means you cannot say the loser’s team is better. That is all. Ask gator the dog catcher who is missing in action and I hope he is okay. The winner gets to say, we are better, that is all. Support your team, I would expect nothing less. But smack is out.

To all Gay-terd fans who’ve always found comfort in beating a Georgia team that wasn’t 100%, doesn’t it hurt to be on the other side? Make all the excuses that you want about Teabag not being 100%, or you starting d-line not being 100% because, guess what, the past 13 out of 15 games, our team was not 100%. There’s no crying in football, right? It sucks to be on the other side not having a bye week like you’ve had for so long. Oh, and by the way, you guys have a better chance of winning next year because as always, your schedule is easier before the Georgia-Florida game. I mean a bye week then playing Kentucky before Georgia in 2008? It’s too bad you guys have to stoop down so low as to have a mediocre schedule before playing Georgia just to get a win. In case you don’t know, Tennessee, Vandy, and LSU without rest before playing UF. Yeah, so which IS the toughest team on the block? It certainly isn’t the Gay-terds!!! Stop crying because this is the reality of having a chance to rest before a big game such as this. Next year, you’ll have a chance to celebrate because as the schedule shows, the Kentucky next year should be a cakewalk for you. But it would make it that much sweeter if we do beat you guys in 2008.

Hunk as always, you sum up the situation even Gators and Bugs can understand. Maybe if some of these so-called classy fans could understand the finer points of motivation, we would not have to be talking to a first grader. I have 40 people working for me. I get them fired up Monday morning and they work like Dawgs all week long. Richt is a class act. The suburban soon to be legend, looked like he was clueless the entire game. Tebow is a great, you heard me, quarterback. He and Percy cannot carry the entire team, and that is what they have had to do all season. I know he has an injured non-throwing arm, but if you saw the Vandy game, Knowshon was not 100% either. Both are incredible talents. UF, shake it off and go get ready to play your next game. Our celebration ends today. Now we are preparing for the fighting Condoms. And I do not for one instant think that we now are in charge of the SEC East. We only control our destiny, not others. Lets just keep playing good old Georgia football till the end.

I think all the gay name calling is childish. I refuse to partake. You want to talk about class? How about your coach throwing his headset at the end of the game. Real classy.

You want to talk sportsmanship? Nice move by hitting Stafford when he has taken a knee. Very sportsmanlike.

You want to talk records? 20-20 in the last 40 games. 2-2 in the last 4 games. Georgia still has a 10 game lead in the all time series.

Whine, cry, whine, cry. Tebow was hurt. Who’s fault is that? That’s what happens when you run a QB in a competitive SEC…morons. Our defensive line was hurt, none of our starters were in, wah, wah, wah. Keep crying if it make you feel better. I love the taste of Gator tears.

To All Gator Fans (except Gator Nation)

You want to talk about class? How about your coach throwing his headset at the end of the game. Real classy.

You want to talk sportsmanship? Nice move by hitting Stafford when he has taken a knee. Very sportsmanlike.

You want to talk records? 20-20 in the last 40 games. 2-2 in the last 4 games. Georgia still has a 10 game lead in the all time series.

Whine, cry, whine, cry. Tebow was hurt. Whose fault is that? That’s what happens when you run a QB in a competitive SEC…morons. Our defensive line was hurt, none of our starters were in, wah, wah, wah. Keep crying if it make you feel better. I love the taste of Gator tears.

GO DAWGS!

Listen to Richt’s comments. Take note, that is class. The man will go down in history with Wally Butts, Vince Dooley and Erk Russell as the greatest of Georgia coaches. It is more than wins and losses. It is the pride and love of making young men excell beyond their wildest expectations. That is what makes a great coach.

**First, I apologize for the “gay” name calling. Second, I’d like to show how low the Gators have gone since 1998. Florida has had a bye week before the GA-FL game since 1998 and won each game. The only year prior to Saturday’s game when they did not have a bye week, they lost against Georgia and that was in 2004. Do you all see a pattern here? As I said in my last post, if all Gator fans can hang their hats on the fact they beat Georgia teams which were not 100%, so be it. It just goes to show how having a bye week has been an advantage to a team which has had it prior to this rivalry.

Florida bye weeks before GA-FL game: 2006 won 2005 won 2003 won 2002 won 2001 won 2000 won 1999 won 1998 won

2004 no bye week and lost to Georgia.

…and next year, another easy schedule for Florida prior to the GA-FL game. Wow, don’t you guys feel like men now? Again, you guys have gotten so desperate in order to try to tie the series. You should win next year. You guys have a lot of class, don’t you? **

Gators are a different breed. I grew up deep in UF country, and they would trash talk when Georgia was on a 6-game winning streak in the series in the 80s. When they had gone 50 years or more without a single conference championship, they still acted like God’s gift to the SEC. Even with all the success they’ve had since the 90s, I don’t see any difference. A Gator is a Gator is a Gator.

My brother and I were debating whether to pull for SC or Tenn. last night. He thought our best chance to win the East would be if SC won, since they still have to play Florida. I think Florida is done and not a good bet to win that game. I pulled for Tenn. because they have played one less conference game and I’d rather see them try to win 3 games to win the East than SC only having to win 2. The Vols have laid two huge eggs this year and didn’t show up for much of the second half against SC, so playing at a high level for three games won’t be easy for them. Then again, assuming that the Dawgs beat UK, we will have to find a way to break the home field jinx against Auburn.

Well, after reading about 1/2 of the comments - safe to say this game did the rivalry some good. Georgia won because they were the better team. Whining about UGA having a week off is nothing short of stupidity, consideriing that UF did this for 14 of 16 years. If we are smart, we will work to schedule it this way EVERY year. Next year BOTH teams will be loaded and next year’s game will be a war - if both QB’S are healthy - it should be a great game.

Bottom-line: Everytime I pass a “hated” Gator Tag in Georgia - I can smile…

First Georgia stomps on Vandy’s Logo, next the entire Georgia team runs on the field and to celebrate a touchdown. I guess Georgia will bring down the goal posts after a victory against Troy. Way to go Richt, you really have accomplished a lot by doing this. Come back down to reality because there are no national championship possibilities.

The game stays in Jax for the dedicated South Georgia faithful of the Bulldawg Nation. It is their homegame. And it is also a wonderful tradition. Athens and Gainesville, where is the fun in that.

Atlanta Sooner, have you ever noticed that when an opposing team wins in Athens they rip up our hedges for souveniers. Jumping on a logo does not even compare to that. If it was me, I would rent a bobcat and dig up their stinking logo. Maybe then they would stop trimming our hedges. Go sell classless somewhere else, it aint working here nimrod.

I have been down on the Dawgs this season with good reason. I predicted a loss to Fla on Saturday IF the UGA that played against Tenn and vandy showed up. The team that beat Fla on Saturday was the team we have been waiting to see— players with emotion, coaches with emotion and a good game plan, the OF giving Stafford time, and the defense fired up and gettin’ after it. If we had played like this all season there would have been no complaints. Congrats to the Dawgs. Let’s keep it up now.

To Gator Fans-It was a great game. Very very exciting game to watch and this year the better team won. Good luck the rest of the season to the Gators. Bobo-17 INT’s…the very same thing I see you on here posting about you just posted yourself….well you can talk about injuries….or hurt d-starters or what ever…but I won’t bring up anything other than the fact that we won. I mean it has not happened that much we all know that….but we won…so just tip your hat/Move on/get ready for your next game….and for the love of football quit making excuses for your team losing…you lost get over it. Now great win to all my FELLOW DAWG FANS can we plaese start getting ready for Troy…THIS WIN MEANS NOTHING IF WE LOSE TO TROY…>REMEMBER THAT…TROY is averaging 28 points a game against SEC teams this year..and that was against UF/ARK. Troy is 6-2 overall..and can you say hungary for a ranking in the top 25 if they beat us DAWGS. I would not take these guys with the slightest of lightness. They have 2 losses….they hung 31 on UF and 26 on ARK…those are there only 2 losses. Plus they manhandled OK.State as well. DO NO LOOK PAST THIS TROY TEAM…THEY ARE RIDING A 6 GAME WINNING STREAk..and we saw what happened to Kentucky after the big win over LSU…lets get the game plan rolling and get ready to play a super tough TROY team that will no doubt be looking to make a name for themselves this weekend. GO DAWGS

and you idiots wonder why it is SO EASY to hate the dawgs and the dawg nation. ONE WORD. Class. UGA and its fans have ABSOLUTLEY none of it. Will someone ANYONE please explain to me why UGA and its fans have to act as if they have just won the national championship after every victory and hell now after every play? UGA is the only team in the country that storms the field like they have just won the nc jumping all over the opposing teams logo after beating VANDY. UGA is the only team in the country that again acts like they have just won the nc and rushes the field after SCORING A TOUCDOWN against and AVERAGE at best UF team. What are you idiots going to do your next SEC win( which should be Kentucky becasuse there is no way in hell you are beating AU) AU is 12-3 in the last 15 in Sanford. Not quite 15 out of 18 but almost. They will STUFF the one dimensional running game of UGA just like they have done to Ben Jarvis Green Ellis, Hester, Felix Jones, and Mcfadden in the previous weeks. The pups do not have a prayer. So back to my point. What are the UGA fans and players going to do if yall beat UK or hell even Troy? It would not suprise me if the goal poasts are torn down after a victory over Troy. One word sums up the Dawg nation. PATHETIC!!! And it is only getting worse!

To REDANDBLACK:

Why do you care about next year’s schedule for Florida and who they play after Georgia? Who cares if you play LSU next year!!!!!!!!!! Florida plays them every year!!!! LSU is our permanent SEC west opponent!!!! SO suck on that for awhile!!!!! Why don’t you worry about the rest of your schedule because you may not even make it to ATLANTA!!!!! This year’s FL - GA game had no national significance because neither can win a national championship and that’s how a program is measured!!!! Not by SEC championships, but by National Championships!!!! 1980, 1980, 1980, 1980, 1980……

Mike, you’re an idiot who can’t see the point in my statement. Who said I was complaining about playing LSU in 2008 stupid. As a matter of fact, I’m proud of our schedule leading up to the Georgia –Florida game because if we do win, IT WILL BE SWEET! My point is Florida has always had an easier schedule before the Georgia –Florida game, nutcase. You guys are real men coming into this game since 1998 thumping your chests after a bye week. It seems to me that the Florida nation puts way much more importance to this rivalry than Georgia to try to get an off week…or maybe it’s because you guys want to look nice and pretty and not bruised up on national tv. Ask anyone, the coaches, the players, how much of an advantage a team gains after a bye week Oh by the way, I’m not focused on the Troy game. The team is doing that.

Shall I point it out again?

Florida bye weeks before GA-FL game: 2006 won, 2005 won, 2003 won, 2002 won, 2001 won, 2000 won, 1999 won, 1998 won

2004, 2007: no bye week and lost to Georgia.

Gator fan says: Waaaahhh, we were not 100% this time like all those other years. Can we have another by week? Waaaaahhh

What was different about the ga/fl game vs other games the last few years? EMOTION. Since the dawgs have highly rated recruiting classes every year it is reasonable to expect a highly rated/performing team. The frustration is watching each each and not knowing who is showing up for the game. Lost/confused/flat dawgs or focused and emotional dawgs. Dooley had Erk to play the emotional leader to his calm, cerebral leader. Richt had Van Gorder. Since then, who plays that role? The result since has been a rollercoaster of performance. Individual players have played that role, but who does it now? Every week? Richt did on sat. Who does it going forward? Somebody players and coaches need to step up and fill that role every play, every week. If they do, they will live up to their dreams, the expectations of the bulldawg nation and be revered forever with the great ones. If they don’t they will be soon forgotten and no one will remember they wore the red and black. Win out and live forever.

I AGREE WITH GEORGE! There are only stories that emerge now that this game is over and the rankings have come out. the SEC East is probably the worst division in college football. There is a 99% chance that a team with 3 SEC losses will be representing the division. PITIFUL and embarrasing to say the least.

Unsportsmanlike and Dumb.

When UGA rushed the field at Vandy, CMR said, “this isn’t GA football, this isn’t how we run our program”, because he knows that behavior is unsportsmanlike. It was unsportsmanlike against Vandy and Florida. (Doubly unsportsmanlike, because you were penalized twice during the same scene.) Unsportsmanlike conduct is a nice way of saying, “you were rubbing it in the other teams face”. …which GA did repeatedly in the game…

Dumb: next time FL is up 30-40 pts on UGA and does something to rub it in GA’s face, UGA will have no leg to stand on to complain that FL was being nasty or in the wrong, because now, UGA clearly has it coming to them.

Dumb: You should not create a national image of being unsportsmanlike just to fire your team up. You should be fired up because you are proud and want to represent your school and conference, but alas, pride and representing has gone out the window now.

Dumb: This will serve as quite a motivator for FL and any other UGA opponents going forward for quite some time. Giving your opponents motivation is DUMB.

gatech92, obviously you didn’t listen to watch Coach Richt had to say about the incident. THAT wasn’t the coach’s intent for the whole team to run onto the field. How many times have you ever seen that happen before? Me never. And I don’t think we will ever see it again.

We didn’t invent the unsportsmanlike penalty. The unsportsmanlike penalty wasn’t created for UGA so obviously we aren’t the only team doing it. If I recall UF had atleast one if not more of those called during the game. And the game wasn’t decided until the clock struck zero. So don’t give us bull about being unsportsmanlike UF was hotdogging it also.

Have you seen the national reaction to that? ESPN crew and others thought it was a good thing that got team fired up against a tough opponent who we haven’t done well against in recent years. Looks like it worked. OF course there are people like Terrence who probably lost a lot of money on the game and didn’t like it. Fine with me.

If other teams score and want to do that then fine that is there perogative and they can take the 15 yarder. Don’t want teams putting it in your face then don’t let them score on you. Plain and simple.

Like our competition needs anymore motivation to beat us? We have a target on our backs week in and week out. Any win over a UGA team is a quality win, even in a down year.

Pride in your school is not having to give away free food and drinks to get people to show up for a game.

gatech92-

dumb: not knowing your facts. MR told him that they better get a penalty for celebrating but did not tell them to rush the field. His intention was to fire up his team and raise their level of intensity, not provoke a fight or be classless. This is a good christian man without an ego.
