Game-changing play

A lot of big plays Saturday, as the offense carried the defense for much of the game. But for my money the key play was the take-away inside the 5 yard line on the Ole Miss fumble, which was followed by a 96-yard Bulldog scoring drive.

Fans of the running game had to be thrilled with the Dawgs offense.

More tomorrow!

Our depth was the overwhelming difference! Great primer for the Tenn. game! Go DAWGS!

By Lethargic play, then Gatoraid?

Why do the Dawgs come out so flat? This game could have easily gone the other way. The Dawgs played bad for 3 quarters, good for 1. Why the lethargy?

Will all the TB naysayer’s simply go away! Let him have his Senior Yr. Moreno will get all the carries he needs this year and King will replace Moreno next year. It pains me to read some of the dribble re: tailback posted here and other blogs. See you next week in Knoxville…………..HBTD!

Thomas Brown is man enough to now be the seventh leading rusher in UGA history. Keep it up TB, more than you think are pulling for you.

Lethargic, I understand and share your concern, but it’s college football. Why did LSU struggle so with Tulane until the end? Aren’t they the class of the SEC? Or Oklahoma losing to Colorado? Or the Gators last weekend barely beating the same Ole Miss team? Ya get my drift? For a young team, they’re definitely having growing pains, but dang it boys they’re not half bad and getting better by the week. Be thankful. GO DAWGS!! p.s. TK you beat me to the punch on the Thomas Brown haters out there. Knowshon will get the rock plenty in the coming games and years. There is more to offensive execution than just fancy runs, and TB has the edge on the whole package-

I have had to defend T BROWN more than a few times on this blog- Well today you can kiss my Bulldog rump! 11 yards everytime he touched the ball!

Now, I must say that on at least two plays (if I had not seen the jersey number) I would have sworn it was Moreno. I think this “old dog” has learned some new tricks!

When Moreno went down hard and came up slow I was very concerned. What an awesome guy to hop up and run back to the sideline- What a crowd pleaser.

Great Game. GO DAWGS!

This is a very young team, and they are learning how to win. Don’t get too carried away with this, our defense looked bad for the most part. We were getting blown off of the ball, according to LM we were not hitting anyone until they were 4 yds down the field. The defense needs to play with the intensity that they showed last week at Bama. I really liked the way that we ran the ball this week, and I am one of the many that have come out and said that KM should start ahead of TB. Great game by both and that is something that we need to continue. Good game by MS, but the defense definitely needs to step up.

Now that Defense has some work to do this week before TN.

After the Ole Miss 9 min 3rd Qtr drive to tie the score- UGA scored 21 unanswered points in 10 min. 28 by games end.

That on side kick was awesome. Coutu can kick a ball more acurately than I can throw one. I hope we have some tricks/daggers left for those Vols next weekend!

The only bad things about todays game was the slow start and having to listen to Munson trying to figure out who caught a pass, who ran for a first down, who recovered a fumble, and if I was listening to the same game he was watching. How bout taking home games off too!

I am as much for our guys catching the ball as anyone, but I would prefer our fans not be booing a player in our stadium. I’m not going to pull a Mike Gundy, but I think Richt has this under control. I am also sure he is more concerned for Chandler not being wrecked for the next year & half, and the coach cares about him as a player & person. Bottom line is Tripp has to produce and the coaches have to help him get there. (Coaching is not as easy as just pulling some guy whenever he drops a pass and putting another guy in there.) We are a better team if Chandler can snap out of it. Until then, lay off the booing.

Hey dave, got a clue for you buddy since it seems you don’t have enough sense or money to get one. The last touchdown was by the subs who never get to play. I, nor any decent coach, will ever tell them not to give it their best shot when they get maybe their only chance to play in their stadium. I am just assuming that you do not know football and are not near the idiot that your post makes you out to be.

I hope to God one day we play your team and bury your team up to their geek necks, and then start up the lawnmower.

Once this great man has risen to Valhalla you will still be a mere peon pining for a considerable way to achieve notoriety. Which is obviously well beyond your reach, according to your weak posts. If you have ever accomplished anything, or, in fact, are capable of accomplishing anything, you would not try to diminish this ICON’s glory (unless of course you are a sore loser).

Surely you can do better than that weak-a$$ rhyme. At least, try. You aren’t much of a challenge.

Run the score up? We NEVER run the score up… That last touchdown came from a 3rd string full back - after the ball had moved down the filed entirely on the ground.

Kicking a field goal when you already have 49 points is running the score up.

Keeping Peyton Manning on the field in the 4th quarter “working on thier passing game” with the game in hand is running the score up.

Know what your talking about, before you “post” Arizona - or better yet - just go away…

“Watching Auburn/Florida” - regardless of who wins - have made the following conclusion. Florida is a little over-rated and Auburn is very much under-rated…

Larry’s mother:

Exactly what do you hope to accomplish by dissing Munson? Seriously, we’re all really sorry if his style offends you, but if you’re not a fan, don’t listen. It’s a free country.

Munson fans (and there are a hell of a lot of them, myself included) love his style precisely because he is one of us. He’s a Dawg fan, through and through, and he suffers with us and rejoices with us and announces the game the way we all feel it. There’s information to be disseminated, it’s true, but there’s a lot more to college football than that. It’s about emotion and passion and the sheer poetry of a few well-placed phrases. It’s about an amazing description (“He kicked it a million miles!” “Man, is there going to be some property destroyed tonight!” “Old Lady Luck just laughed out loud!” “Tech just ripped our hearts out, and blood is running all over the field!” “We just stepped on their face with a hobnailed boot and broke their nose!”), or two, or three…or ten. Larry’s a master at that, the incredible spur-of-the-moment phraseology that most announcers could only dream of.

If you like dry, passionless announcers who sound like they eat yogurt and have manicures done on their day off and strain really hard to be impartial, that’s your prerogative. I’ll take Larry and his cigar and his anxieties any day. So go watch Bob Davie and listen to his inanities. Hear Bill Curry’s pseudo-impartial blather or Lou Holtz’s odd and irrational musings. But leave Larry Munson alone. You won’t change our minds about him. He’s one of us. And we love him just the way he is.

No way I could change your mind on Munson. You are just too young, overly self confident and just plain stupid. Savannah Jacket— you guys are back! Where’ve you been the past two weeks? Oh, that’s right—Tech lost and you disappeared. Now, you finally won a game, and you’re back mouthing off again, predicting dire things for your most hated rival on that rival’s weblog.

Is this a hobby? Or just an obsession?

If I were a fan of a school that had not won a rivalry game in, oh, six years or so, I wouldn’t blab quite so much. For example, does Tech have any quality wins? Clemson, you say? But how good is Clemson, really? They play in the ACC, a conference that makes the WAC look tough. And you talk about “another” .500 season for some team called the “Necks.” That may be so, but the Dawgs haven’t had a 0.500 season in a decade and a half. I seriously doubt that will be the case this season. Wishful thinking does not make improbable things happen, despite what you may have been told at the North Avenue Nursery School.
What’s going to be your tack when Georgia wins next week in Knoxville? Is it going to be “we’ll get you next year?” again? Or are you going to continue to rely vicariously on the Gators to do your bidding, since you can’t trust your own team to do the job?

Honestly, it’s pathetic when you have to make jabs using other people’s teams simply because yours can’t get it done. But I understand. Some of the kids playing for Tech had not even hit puberty the last time Tech beat Georgia, so they may not be able to remember what it was like for Tech to win that game.

Oh, and by the way, it’s “receiver.” You know, “i before e except after c.” I know they don’t make an effort to teach spelling or writing at Tech, but there is such a thing as Spell Check.

dawgpin, Meyer used the word, sucks, once to describe how losing feels. Auburn played a great game in the first have and surprised Florida. The true Florida team played much better in the second half. Florida, like Georgia, is very young (67% or the players who play the most are freshman and sophs per the TV last night) and will be someone inconsistent at time…Georgia at the beginning of the Miss. game yesterday and then another entirely different team in the second half. Both Georgia and Florida have excellent futures and their games will be very meaningful this year and for years to come. Don’t rag too much on one of the best coaches in America, and don’t rag on a losing Gator team too much. They might get up and bite your tail off again in Jax again this year…and what will you say then? All I have to say is, LSU better be ready to play their best game next Saturday night…because I know the Gators will play theirs.

TampaGator, if CTT made the comments CUM made and had his serial instinct, I would have lost all respect for him and I think both are two of better coaches in the country. Myers show ZERO class as when Bama kicked his butt 2005. He is a gutless loser when he said’ “give credit to other team, they play good and has a good coach”. CMR would never lable a loss in those word. LSU and UGA will beat the Gators, SEC east is SC or UGA with Kentucky losing out not having a SEC defense.LSU is about 2.5 TD better than Auburn..SUCK it up and go Gators!!!

Anyone else think there’s going to be a rule amendment during the off season that prevents an opposing team from calling a time out once the lines are set for a field goal?

It that catches on my money says the rules committee will address it, just like they addressed running time off the clock by intentionally being off-sides during a kick off.

The DAWGS are progressively maturing each week and this is critical going into the meat of our schedule. Tenn and Phat Fhulmer must be wondering are we gonna pass or run with the new formations we run. Bobo has done a BRILLIANT job disguising our formations whereby the DC on the opposing hasn’t a clue to what we are running. Last several years it seemed we were very predictable as to what we were going to do. I know Tenn is coming off a by-week and has plenty of time to prepare, but you gotta love our chances as their defense has more holes than a good bar of swiss cheese.

Speaking of by-weeks, why the hell does UGA always get the shaft of by-weeks with both Tenn and Fla. It seems they (FLA & Tenn) always have a by-week leading up to our game and I’m wondering who (SEC or AD) in the heck allows this to happen on such big intra-division games? Anybody out there have an answer or could shed a little light on that one?

Lastly, I’m a DAWG stuck in Jacksonville and have to endure all of these OBNOXIOUS GAYTOR fans and must give a huge shout out to the Auburn Tigers for finally laying some wood on the beloved Gaytors. I can deal with the fact UFL actually does have a very good (almost great) football team with a very good coach, because they do, but its absolutely disgusting the way these fans act and carry their Mullet-head, trash talking, sister kissing a*******e$ around and need to be brought down a few notches. Thanks to the AUBURN TIGERS (2nd fav team in SEC)and hopefully LSU, SC, and UGA will oblige the Gaytors with the same. GO DAWGS and keep the Knoxville trend going and send the 105K back to their Jed Clampett sheds!

I’ve being saying since MR became the HC that he needed to run the ball more because Ga has produce more quality RBs than anyone. Last yr I was couldn’t believe how much MR kept ignoring the running gain when we couldn’t pass on any 1. I hope MR now realize that the running gain is our strength. I always knew that TB and ML are 2 outstanding RBs who can put up 100 plus yards a game. However Moreno is the best RB on the team but if TB and ML can put up the kind of numbers we witness against Old Miss after a win, then TB should be our go to guy no matter how good Moreno is. JUST KEEP POUNDING THE BALL!

The best moment for me inside that stadium on Saturday was hearing a huge roar, trying to figure out what people were cheering about in between plays, and seeing Knowshon, whom we last saw injured and being helped off the field, dancing with Thomas Brown on the sidelines. The place just erupted seeing those two talented kids enjoying an incredibly entertaining football game.

That second half was some of the best execution against a competitive SEC opponent that I’ve seen in a long time. GO DAWGS!

MY JOB IS TO GET THE BALL TO THE PLAYMAKERS AND LET THEM DO THEIR THING.REMEMBER WHO SAID THAT? YESTERDAY THE RUNNING GAME CARRIED US TO VICTORY BUT THE PASSING GAME KEPT THEM GUESSING. NOTICE HOW, AS CMR SAID, THEY DIDN’T PLAY AS MANY IN THE BOX AS LAST YEAR.OUR OFFENSE WILL VARY FROM GAME TO GAME AND WE’RE ALMOST IN THE POSITION TO BE ABLE TO TAKE WHAT OTHER TEAMS GIVE US. I HOPE THAT TENN. PUTS 8 IN THE BOX OR PLAYS A DEFENE LIKE ‘OLE MISS. DID. DON’T FORGET THAT WE HAD SOME NICE LONG DRIVES. OUR SCHEDULE STILL LAYS OUT IN OUR FAVOR FOR THE REST OF ‘07. BOOING. CMR SAYS THAT WHAT’S UPSETTING IS IF IT’S SOME KIND OF PERSONAL PROBLEM AND PEOPLE BOO. CHANDLER WAS BOOED WHEN HE DROPPED THE BALL AND CHEERED WHEN HE CAUGHT IT. I THOUGHT THAT WAS VERY FUNNY AND WE COULD MAKE THAT A REALLY FUN TRADITION AT GA.

I was disgusted when the crowd booed Chandler. That’s scrub work I expect from an ACC fan base. Tradition? Not a chance. Disgrace? You bet. I never want to see that again from our great DAWG FANS.

What a crazy day in college football. UGA avoided the upset bug and did a great job running the ball and finally shutting down UM. What is going to happen in the SEC East? Who knows. Let’s just enjoy the ride. UGA has a good team that is getting better every week. Go DAWGS

For you idiot SEC fans that still say that the ACC isn’t a football conference, how did you like this past weekend?

  1. Unranked Maryland defeated #10 Rutgers.

  2. Unranked FSU defeated your SEC #22 ranked Alabama

  3. Boston College is 5-0

  4. Four ACC teams are 4-1 (SEC only has 3 teams at 4-1)

Yep, the ACC is a very strong football conference. We are just waiting for the rest of you to give due props.

I will be offering consultation services to anyone in the dawg nation in regards to how to beat the Florida gators once in a blue moon. 3 things about the new rankings that are just an absoulte freaking joke. 1. There is only one team in the country that is more OVERRATED than the pups. That is the Gaytors. Even with all the upsets will someone PLEASE explain to me how in the hell they can be # 7????? 2. The pups are also SEVERELY overrated. They have beaten ONE average at best team and that is it and are ranked # 11????? Please again someone explain this to me. 3. The AU tigers are not even ranked! Granted they have two losses but one of them is to the number 6 team in the country in overtime. Not to mention they just beat the defending national champions in their own backyard ( which is one of the toughest places in the country to play). The rankings are just simply a joke!!

I’ve seen all the games this year and am concerned that the defense just doesn’t show enough fire. I noticed this week that the band no longer plays “Junkyard Dawgs” when the defense does do a good job. Could this be the problem?

AP polls are worthless. How can UF only drop a few spots by losing to an un-ranked team at home; OK loses to a bad Colorado team and only drops a few spots. USC wins on the road and drops a spot, while LSU struggled w/ Tulane and leaps them.

I agree…The AP polls are worthless…Almost as worthless as the ACC. The ACC is the 4th best conference at best this year..5th IMO

ACC Rules- Did you not look hard enough for good stats…the SEC now has 5 teams in the top 12 including 3 4-1 teams and 2 5-0 teams. Guess you forgot those stats in your analysis. I will say the ACC looks to be better than the Big East, but thats about it.

J-Bo, The polls are nothing more than a beauty contest - and you know that it is true! Heck, they had Notre Dame ranked, remember?

Polls mean nothing, especially at this point in the season.

J-Bo, The AP polls are worthless, you say in one paragraph.

Then, you say how wonderful it is the SEC has teams ranked in the top 12.

Can’t have it both ways, bud. Wait a minute…. u must be a dumba$$ ugay sec fan, so you probably do go ‘both ways.’

HEY ACC Rules. What exactly is it that the ACC rules? Heck, your weak a* conference doesn’t even show up in the Directors Cup anymore and no one ever says the girls of the ACC are hot!! Well, maybe after a few pitchers of beer
