Strong finish lifts Bulldog Nation
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Considering how bleak things looked at midseason when the Dawgs had lost four of five, UGA fans have a right to be pretty happy about the way the season ended — three consecutive wins over ranked opponents, including Saturday night’s gutsy come-from-behind victory over one of the ACC’s better teams in the Bowl Formerly Known as the Peach.
If, a year from now, we’re again seeing the Dawgs missing out on a BCS bowl and playing their post-season game in Atlanta, UGA fans won’t be so happy. A 9-4 record and Peach-fil-A win in a rebuilding year is acceptable, despite the bittersweet thoughts of what might (and probably would) have been had our placekicker not gotten hurt (two fewer losses, that’s for sure; probably a BCS bowl, too).
But there’s no point dwelling on what if’s. Major programs aren’t immune from down years (right, FSU and Miami fans?). And despite our joy at the way the Dawgs wound up the year, let’s be frank: Even at 9-4, this was a down year for UGA.
Can the Bulldogs win the SEC and make a run at the national title as early as next year? That’s probably too much to ask, what with the defensive starters we’re losing (even if a couple don’t go pro) and the inexperienced OL we’ll have. But once our talent-loaded offense gets a bit more consistent and our redshirts gain some playing time, the Dawgs should at the very least be in the mix for the SEC East.
MORE CHICK-FIL-A NUGGETS: At halftime, I was thinking it was impossible to judge what kind of a job Mike Bobo was doing in his first game since being named offensive coordinator because the Dawgs had forgotten to bring an offense for him to coordinate. Then in the second half we took a page out of the Beamer Ball book with that onside kick and everyone in the place seemed to know that it was a turning point. It was like you could literally feel the momentum shift. That’s one of the things I love about the college game. … Memo to Danny Ware: If you’re gonna talk about skipping your senior year for the NFL, you need to catch sure touchdown passes when the QB lays ‘em right in your hands. … If Arthur Blank does renovate the Georgia Dome, let’s hope he does something about the absolutely awful acoustics in the upper level. … While the Dawgs’ offense basically put together only one semi-successful drive in the first half, the defense really only had one bad quarter, having dominated VT for most of the first. The second quarter saw the poor tackling and sloppy secondary play of earlier in the season return, but fortunately the D got back on track in the second half. I’m still not convinced Willie Martinez is the man to run our defense, but the last three games of the season showed marked improvement on that side of the ball, and since he got the blame for the midseason collapse, he gets the credit for the rebound. … It was great to see Brandon Coutu back out there doing what he does best. Now, if we can just convince Kevin Butler’s son that a preferred walk-on spot (and likely eventual scholarship) at UGA beats an immediate scholarship at a lesser program. Even if Coutu stays healthy, we’ve only got him one more year. … I realize bowl games are all about sponsors pushing their products, but the constant barrage of commercials on the video screens got awfully tiresome, and the halting of the game at the end of the third quarter for a car give-away (forcing the bands to delay their here-comes-the-fourth routines) really took an edge off the excitement in the stands. … Once the game was over, the “neutrality” of the bowl officials seemed to fall by the wayside, with President Gary Stokan not only letting out a “How ’bout them Dawgs!” but also summing up the late season Bulldogs pretty well: “If that’s not a Top 20 team to end the year and a Top 10 team to begin next season, then I don’t know football.”

Awesome game.. strong finish and yes, I agree w/Stokan we should be a top 10 in the preseason. We will be if Johnson/Oliver stay. But, they(polls) will ranked us somewhere in the top 15 or 16 at least. Why not top 10, we just beat the #1 defense in the nation.
2006 season will be something for us to build on. I’m sure coach learned a lot from this season. The young dawgs improved and they gained great experience from this season. The future is bright for the dawgs. We will contend for the SEC title again.. possibly more.
Great job Dawgs! I love you man!

Bill…
You’ve been a heck of a presence here during this season.
You’ve been a place of refuge for us in the Dawg Nation who grew tired of Carter Strickland and his snide remarks and asides about the Dawgs, the fans, and the SEC in general.
Why this rag continues to employ that piece of crap is beyond me.
I am with you on Willie. I’m not convinced. I want to see a whole season of consistancy, like we knew we could get from a Coach Van defense.
Willie seems to be able to get his guys to play well for stretches, sometimes just quarters or halves. But he is not good with consistancy.
To guys like Altamaha and Hunk and Conyers who tried to argue against everything that made the last three games of this season, including this bowl win, possible, you know, starting Matt Stafford, Mark Richt giving up the playcalling and such… I hope you guys realize that being a blind homer is no way to go through life.
I said, way back in April, that if Joe T is our QB, then the best we can do is 8-5. I said that with Matt as our QB, the worst we could do is 8-5.
I’m glad to see Matt prove me right, 8 months later.
Buck, you’ve been a fun blogger to bandy around about with. You and I have had a lot in common when it comes to being on the same wavelength about this team and what it needed to do to get better.
I don’t know about you, but I cannot wait until April.
To all the other non-blind homer Dawg fans out there, it’s been a heck of a year.
NOW LETS GET BEHIND THOSE BASKETBALL DAWGS AND DIAMOND DAWGS FOR A POSTSEASON RUN OF THEIR OWN!!!
I said it’s GREAT to BE a GEORGIA BULLDAWG!!!

Just so everyone knows, when this idiot named BirdDawg uses the term “blind homer”, he’s actually referring to those of us who “have a life, and know our a** from a hole in the ground”.
Oh yeah, and when he types “BirdDawg”… he actually means “Cafaro”.
Now you know…

Oh, I’m sorry, anonymous blogger, are you named Altamaha? Or maybe Conyers? I think you must be Conyers.
And Conyers, you’ve always been quick to label me as the guy I, Buck, and others helped run off of this blog.
You know what’s really said, anonymous blogger?
That you still, after all this time, can’t let that go. As Popeye once said, son, “I yam what I yam, and that’s all that I yam.”
And what I yam is Bill. But if you want to remain a truly, truly sad, impotent little man, that keep on keepin’ on with your little fantasy.
Just makes you sound more ridiculous every time you utter it.

And son, it’s okay if you hate me.
I mean, if you were always right about everything involving this team, like I have been this year, then I might hate you, too.
Oh no, I wouldn’t, because then you wouldn’t be a blind homer.
And I only hate the blind homers on these blogs.
And so does Bill.

And I think it’s hilarious how BirdDawg likes to refer the UGA coaches and players by their first name. As if Martinez and Stafford would even talk to you. I know, I know… I’m sure they call you each week asking for your expert analysis and advice regarding UGA football.
You are annoying.

Great win by the Dawgs. That’s all you can say. The schedule is likely to be a bit tougher next year. Whether we are in or out of SEC championship will likely ride on whether we get a break or two (see, Fla in the Fla vs. South Carolina game this year)
Maybe I’m a bit old fashioned, but I sure wouldn’t mind our guys making a play and then getting to the huddle or off the field without jawing off at the other guys. I realize that at some level, that is simply part of the fun for these guys in playing in the game, but the close-up shots on TV after the play makes us look very undisciplined, etc. That sort of thing starts with the seniors and Tra Battle certainly set the example for everyone else to follow… I may miss Tra but not his after-the-play antics…

Wow… it’s the end of the year, so I’m Cafaro now?
Come on guys, time to beat a new drum. Like how Bobo couldn’t be a better play caller than Richt.
Oh wait…
How about how Joe T is in no way a legacy and has enough talent to lead this team from under center?
Oh wait…
Or how about this nugget: Coach Richt is always right and never wrong about anything, and any fan who doesn’t agree with everything Coach Richt says and does is not a real fan?
Oh wait…
Wow, y’all have struck out, and now you keep on swingin’ away with this me being Cafaro thing.
Just goes to show you, that when you guys really have no legs to stand on, when you have no logical arguments to make, when you’ve been exposed as foolish blind homers, you have to go with the low blows.
Shame on you blind homers. I’d expect as much as Bugs, but I guess y’all are just one step up.

It’s been a great year. That is all I can say. HeyJennySlater.blogspot.com posted a great read on the state of our season. It said something to the effects of When everyone said at the beginning of the year that UGA would go 8-4, you probably would have thought those losses would come from UF, UT, AU, and possibly GT. Looking back, are you dissapointed that the 4 losses came from UT, UF, Kentcky and Vanderbilt, or are you proud out of your a* to be a dawg because our team upset two major rivals and dominated the second half of our bowl game versus the No.1 defense. It is a great read and I highly reccomend checking it out. And as for you bickering pansies out there: I thought we were all on the same damn team. This whole blind homer thing is the stupidest sounding crap I’ve ever heard, simply because you are a dawg fan whether your a pessimst or an optimist. Bird Dawg, you sound like a devoted fan and a great guy to talk football with, but the “exterminate the “blind homer” thing” is getting old and really unmature. The other guys, whatever your alias might be this time around, are jackasses for the fact that you can’t respect how other people cheer on their team and bicker about the stupidest details (i.e. reffering to the players and coaches by first name). I understand your being mad about his assault on your opinion, which you have the right to, but somebody needs to be the bigger man here and attack our rivals and opponents versus our own fellow dawgs. Nvetheless, GO DAWGS! LET SIGNING DAY COMMENCE!

Hey Bill, please lay off WM and the defence. less than 200 yards of offence in each of the last 3 games. Try reading a stat sheet every now and then. Great adjustments at half time vs VA Tech, to only give up a field goal in the 2nd half, pretty impressive. Look for Kade Weston and Jeff Owens to really step it up next year, how bout the game Evans had last night, hats off to the defence, heck of a game.

The 3, who are considering going to the NFL as Juniors will all be missed. If I was the coach, I would bry to keep 1st Johnson, 2nd Oliver, and third Ware. I have watched almost every game on TV, and I think, especially if Brown is back next year, they would have a good running team. Oliver and Johnson would be the most missed.

Of all the things that happened this season I was most shocked that Adams let us play in a bowl game where alcohol was being sold. Can we call it the “World’s Largest Indoor Cocktail Party?” Before we jump the gun and get overgiddy about 2007 let’s remember how we got overgiddy in 04 and 06. Why not a New Year’s resolution by fans to take it one game at a time?

Birddawg and BuLLdog posters sound alike in their posts to me for some reason.

Then you disappeared completely after the dawgs next loss. Of all people YOU don’t deserve to revel in this win. You’re nothing but a fair weather, know it all puke who stinks up the blogs.

Of course you are allowed to criticize any coach or aspect of any UGA program. All I ever want is for people who want to criticize, have a point or an argument. Try to keep of off the personal level guys.
I am very excited about last nights win and I think that we will cary this momentum to a high preseason ranking. All we will have to do is live up to it. I am encouraged by Stafford’s second half. When the guy puts it all together he has a real chance to be good.

NAME: when I 1st started posting I used the name “Northwest Dawg”. I changed that and used my namw\e, Buck Cochran in the NW. Everyone knows who speaking when I post. I give NR credit, big time , for doing somrthing I wanted to happen but didn’t think it would for several yrs. He gave up the “OC” job to Bobo. Last night, IMO, in the 1st half, Bobo called an MR type of “O”, going East/West. In the 2nd half he broke away and became his own man and the play calling switched to an attack, attack and hit’um again North/South “O”. Everyone saw the results. Stafford’s talent was put to use like never before this season. His fakes, his precision passing and his audibles all were the marks of a true SEC QB. I predict we won’t miss Ware one bit with Moreno coming in. MR did disapoint me when he went back to Joe T as QB for the Vol game, He later said that he almost didn’t make that decision but he’s not paid one dime to please me. Calmly, very calmly. I’ve looked at the ‘07 season and I’ve never been as excited about an up coming yr. than this one. Never said I was the 1st, but I backed “my Boy” Matthew Stafford from the beginning and was happy for him the day he finished his 1st yr. as a DAWG!!!

With the disapointing season Moses had this year I can see why Johnson is considering going pro. Unfortunately, I think he will go. Dang. He will be missed.
I think Oliver will stay. Just a hunch (or maybe just my wishful thinking).
Not sure if Brown will be recovered from his ACL so would be good if Ware stays too. I can’t see him leaving. At best he’s a 5th round choice at this point.

Last night the Dome was ROCKIN with UGA fans, i left the Dome just as the game ended and didn’t get to see the awards for the winner and the MVP presentations, does anyone know who the MVP’S were? seems like the AJC don’t report things like that or maybe i just missed it. can anyone help with that? This could have been the best match-up for the bowl season. Then again if we catch the passes we dropped it could have bee a blowout too. Wish our fans had showed a little more spirit when the Redcosts played the Battle Hymm at half time, Kinda hard to get your spirits up when your down 21-3 though. proud of our coaches and players for not giving up. Had one more question in my previous blog, hope someone can answer is which conference were the officiating crew from? One of the few times i’ve ever seen CMR get on the playing field and point his finger at an offical. Maybe he’ll start getting a little more fired up during the game now that he’s got Bobo calling plays. I’d have to say the on a scale of 1 to 10 i’d give the officiating crew a 5.

Buck, I have a question for you.
Okay, a few.
What are you looking for in the Spring?
Would you like to see Coach Richt pick a guy at tailback and stick with him instead of doing this ridiculous in and out thing that doesn’t let any of those guys get into a rythem?
Do you think Jeff Bowden is going to come here as our new recievers coach?
Do you think Coach Nall will leave Auburn?
Do you think Israel Troupe and Sean Bailey coming back means that Matthew could have a monster year next year… as long as the JUCO-heavy O-line gels?
Some questions and things to ponder for the next four months.
Happy New Years, Dawgs.
Badger, Cafaro was this guy who would just say the most ridiculous things. Not like blind homer stuff, or even me and Buck and Bill after a bad loss stuff.
Just the most off the wall stuff.
Also, here’s another question… wouldn’t you guys like to see more of the “old” Dawgs come back to Athens on a yearly basis to be with the team and the fans?
I’m talking Tarkenton. Lastinger. Walker. Butler. Ward. Guys who made their names here before they went out and made it out there in the NFL or business or what have you.
I just don’t get why the “old” Dawgs generally don’t come back.
Other schools don’t have this problem.
I am just going to go out on a limb (but not really) and blame this on Michael Adams and his puppet AD for not creating an inviting enviroment for the “old” Dawgs to return and enjoy themselves.
The “old” Dawgs love Coach Dooley, and maybe they stay away in protest.
Yet another reason Michael Adams needs to hurry up and leave the University.
I don’t care about the dumb flag or anything else, but Sonny should have been fired for not stepping in and standing up to Adams when it came to Coach Dooley.
Anyway, have a good night, y’all!

Nobody else (other than disillusioned Dawg fans who think Mark Richt CRAPS GOLD while dishing out a 4-4 record in the SEC paved with LOSSES to Vandy & Kentucky) is posting here because NOBODY CARES about UGAy Football anymore…Which is now mearly a SHADOW of its former self!
What a bunch of morons who can’t face FACTS that are staring them square in the face…”Damn good QB?!?” Are you referring to the one who threw 6 TDs and 12 INTs? You see, that’s why UGAy is now a MEDIOCRE team. You worship a QB who throws twice as many INTs as he does TDs. He’s WORTHLESS and by next November when you’re 3-5 and wondering WHAT WENT WRONG THIS YEAR?, remember ME.
I TOLD YOU THE FACTS! UGAy has incompetent coaches who should take at least partial responsibility for screwing up your season by NOT SOLVING the QB CONTROVERSY BEFORE THE SEASON STARTED! POOR EXECUTION ON THE FIELD is just as much the fault of incompetent coaches as it is UGAy’s inferior athletes.
SEVEN DEFENSIVE STARTERS ARE NOW G-O-N-E! And you think THIS was a “Rebuilding Year”?
But ENOUGH FACTS…Here are my PREDICTIONS for next year. Print em out and read em next NOVEMBER while you’re drying your tears!
UGAy WILL LOSE TO TENN, Vandy and Florida in 3 CONSECUTIVE ROAD TRIPS next year Then the wheels will REALLY FALL OFF and the game with TROY will be a tossup.
Your “Awesome QB” WILL BE PULLED from the starting lineup after throwing 5 INTs in ONE GAME.
BOBO will prove to be a NO-GO as OC with an offense that produces less than 20 pts/game avg by November.
Men’s BB will go into a tailspin following CONSECUTIVE LOSSES to GT, Clemson and Wisconsin (all in “inferior conferences”)…Oh, wait a minute! That one’s ALREADY COMING TRUE NOW! LOL
UGAy continues to accept those who were REJECTED FROM and FLUNKED OUT OF Georgia Tech…
Dawg Fans FINALLY begin to recognize that Mark Richt has brought MEDIOCRITY TO UGAy FOOTBALL with a season of 7 LOSSES and NO BOWL APPEARANCE.
So, CELEBRATE YOUR UGAy ATHLETICS MEDIOCRITY…Since Dawg Fans are now viewed as LOSERS by Florida Fans, Vandy Fans, Kentucky Fans, Tennessee Fans, etc.
IT SUCKS TO BE YOU!…Dawg Fans who EMBRACE MEDIOCRITY!

BirdDawg, I see you called me out. Just because I think you are kiss butt to Bill and a wanna-be ajc writer doesn’t mean I hate you. I just can’t stand your pompous attitude of thinking you are some kind of genius. I’m not the only one. Bill King what does Martinez have to do? He has no pollack and Davis type AA and our D in one of the best in the country. You are so negative. Come on Bill!
(how about the dawgs new shut down corner Br. Evans, he is going to be a special one folks)
Van Gorder never got the game changing int. that CWM defenses get. Did you see van gorders defense at Ga. southern this year. Bill you act like our defense should never give up points or a sustained long drive. Wake up Bill! Are you sure you are a true dawg supporter?

I enjoyed the game quite a bit (more the first half than the second) and had a great time with you UGA fans.
I think its a shot at VT to have Hershel Walker give a prayer to start out with, along with entering former UVA coach George Welsh into the hall of fame in a “neutral game”.
That, and the BS ticket splitting process (VT didn’t get the chance to buy as many tickets) will probably make this game my last Peach Bowl for a while. I understand its sort of a hometown gig for ya’ll, but Chic-Fil-A should be ashamed of itself for some of the stuff that was set up.

Here Bill, from the coach himself:
Georgia’s football coach answers questions following the Bulldogs’ come-from-behind 31-24 Chick-fil-A Bowl victory over the Virginia Tech Hokies.
(on team’s defensive production over the last three games) “It compares with some of the best we’ve had. For a three-game stretch against ranked teams it certainly does. I can recall some games playing tremendous defense the Auburn game in 2002 when we had five straight three-and-outs that helped us win. This reminds me of that performance, only three in a row.
on team’s mid-year struggles) “It was such a tough time when we did lose those games and turned the ball over so much. But it was a time that helped us grow and gave us more confidence in each other. The slogan Finish the Drill maybe means more now than
Bill, the season was never about the defense but about a freshmen qb learning his ways. We will be better off for it next year. CWM did a heck of a job this year!

Bird Dawg, I hope with Moreno playing, we’ll end up with two RBs in the back field. He(Moreno) can play sevsral positions and I hope they don’t relegate him to one spot. Bobo needs to use multitalented RBs in as many ways as possible. EZample: Percy Harven in Reptile land. I think the days of one RB getting the ball 25 times a gmae are gone. We have just to many weapons to use and have a much more varied attack, Yes, with those two guys I know the Stafford is going to have that big year. I don’t think Nall will leave AU and come home. With Bobo calling plays like he did in the 2nd half, I believe every team we play had better be ready. That is if he’ll play call like that the entire game and not let us get down before he switches into the ATTAVK,ATTACK AND HIT’UM AGAIN mode. Don’t know if I covered all the questions but I did burn some trees.

I think with a couple more years of recruiting like this year and gaily leaving nix alone with his play calls the ga ga tech rivalry will be well and alive and deep down as rech and uga fans we all want that with national spot light with both teams ranked in top 10 top 15 would bring this rivalry back to the forefront of college football

Matthew Stafford Game MVP and Tony Taylor Defensive MVP. Personally it should have been the Defensive and Offensive Lines as the MVP’s because after re-watching the game they dominated the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball, even Daniel Inman had a whale of a game. He had 6 devastating pancake blocks. Fernando Velasco had 7 of these as well and on one play the TD run by Lumpkin he pancaked two Hokie defenders. Like Buck said in his post this is the most excited I have been going into a Dawg season in a very long time as we are absolutely loaded with 2 or 3 impact players at every position and that has never happened before at GA. As for Charles Johnson, Paul Oliver and Danny Ware possibly going to the NFL, they all would be missed especially Johnson and Oliver as both, if they stay, will be projected as 1st or 2nd team All Americans going into the year and are looking at being very high 1st round draft picks after next season. As I have said before they each have to weigh the risk of getting hurt vs. where they would be drafted in this years draft.
As for Coach Martinez I was very critical of him after the losses to Tennessee and Vanderbilt, he has redeemed himself in my eyes as it is obvious to me that he realized he had to change up his defensive schemes. It was also apparent that he finally realized he had to stop protecting his DB’s by playing a soft zone coverage and let these very talented DB’s play one on one and in your face and to blitz more often.

Good grief. Nick returns to the SEC just in time for us? Can the Dawgs get SEC revenge for the loss by Bama to the Pokes, Sept. 1? Will next year be bearable if the Gayturds are NatChamps? Can Darth win in Athens next September? Will Yech find a team who can play, or if Jim is right, someone who can coach? Will someone {please} hire Cutcliffe away again so phat phil falls back on his face {and suffocates in hillbilly crap}? Will Yech stink up the Gator Bowl site so bad that FL-GA is played home-and-home for two years; it catches on; and we never have to play endless consecutive away games against the short legs again? Will Bailey commit? Can we best last year’s class? Will Mikey free the offense? Just a few things to think about over the summer. Oh yeah: And how many W’s will there be?

i think our offense next year will be one of the best in the country if our oline can come together. we got stafford, lump all those receivers and tight ends. if we can just get this oline to come togather and get all these new guys up to speed. the guys we got comin in have the tools, we just have to get them up to speed. the line has the potential to be really good, something else to consider is if bobo is gonna be the oc then hes got all spring to change the offense to suit his style. this could look some of those offenses at fsu when they had weinke and all those big time receivers like warrick and coles.

Buck, I have a question for you.
Okay, a few.
What are you looking for in the Spring?
I’m looking for a lot of head knocking competition during the spring and for the coaches to get some of the inconsistancy issues we had this year taken care of.
Would you like to see Coach Richt pick a guy at tailback and stick with him instead of doing this ridiculous in and out thing that doesn’t let any of those guys get into a rythem?
I would like to see Lumpkin, Southerland and Moreno in the backfield at the same time maybe using Moreno or Logan Gray like Florida uses Percy Harvin or maybe like Arkansas has used McFadden. Open the Offense up as we have some unreal talent on this side of the ball.
Do you think Jeff Bowden is going to come here as our new recievers coach?
I don’t think so, Coach Richt is loyal to a fault and the only way I see Bowden on our staff is if David Johnson gets the OL Coaches job or Coach Eason leaves on his own.
Do you think Coach Nall will leave Auburn?
If the job is offered IMO Hugh will accept as he has told me many times that he wants to come back to GA and coach. But having said this Dave Johnson is the better coach and recruiter and has earned the job.
Do you think Israel Troupe and Sean Bailey coming back means that Matthew could have a monster year next year… as long as the JUCO-heavy O-line gels?
GA’s and Stafford’s succes does indeed rest with our OL and DL, but we have so many impact OL we will be 2 and 3 deep at all five positions. We have the nucleus of a very good to great OL coming back in Chester Adams, Fernando Velasco, Seth Watts and Ian Smith. Plus with Josh Davis, Justin Anderson, Scott Havercamp, Vince Vance, Chris Davis, Kevin Perez, Trinton Sturdirvant and possibly Joe Blaes we are deep and hopefully these guys will be able to blend in together and gell as a cohesive unit. I believe that the next 3 to 4 years are going to be special. As for Troupe and Bailey the WR/Flanker position along with TE are the area that concerns me the most as this is where we were very inconsistant with all the dropped passes this year. What concerns me the most is we had great talent here but at times they all seemed to be dropping balls that cost us in all the games. IMO the coaches need to make them take off the gloves as the gloves make it harder to catch the ball. The receivers trying to imitate Pros is not a good reason to be wearing them.

Bill, Conyers is right about your attitude toward WM. What does the D need to do in order for you to say something truely positive about the job he has done? The portion of the second quarter where you claim the D played poorly had more to do with bad field position (Int and Punt Return) and a fluke tipped lateral on a trick play…I didn’t see the missed tackles and poor DB play you referenced. In fact, what I saw time and again was a D in proper postion that made solid tackles. WM deserves more from you than your “he took the blame so I’ll give him the credit” comment.
And Bill, I’m still waiting on you to give Milner a little credit for the way he turned his game around late in the season…you were merciless with regards to his drops early in the year, now step and give him some credit for a great end to the season.

Arkansas, far be it for me to speak for Bill, but I can tell you why many of us are still unsure about Willie Mo’s defense: inconsistancy.
Conyers wantsa to point out about big interceptions and the like.
But that never mattered, as Coach Van’s defenses were always agressive and more importantly, consistant.
With Willie Mo’s defenses, they have been very passive and reactive, dare I say it, Donatell-like. They’ve also been inconsistant.
They’re great for a quarter and it falls apart. They’re great for a half, and then it falls apart. They’re great for a game or two, and then it falls apart.
No consistancy.
With Coach Van, we never had that problem. Coach Van wouldn’t have let Eric Ainge sit in the pocket and pick our defense apart as they sat in a lame two deep zone, comleting third and long after third and long passes for first downs.
Yeah, they’ve had three good games in a row. But is that the abnormality?
What are we going to get from Willie Mo’s defenses next year? His pattern is well established, and until he can get his defenses to play consistantly the whole year, and until it can be shown that he can make good in-game adjustments on a consistant basis, then I’m sorry, but there will still be questions about him as the DC.
Maybe three good games in a row is enough for guys like Conyers. I say we need a whole season. Let him show that he can be a DC for a whole season, not just 3 games.
And Buck, Moreno is the guy I am thinking about.
I don’t nescesarily agree, about the days of 25-30 carry guy being over. There are colleges all over the land who still have that. But what about the 20 carry guy? And then the guy who can come in and also get 15 carries?
My problem with the offense is that okay, we have three good backs, but when one got hot, Coach Richt would always put someone else in. My thing is, RIDE YOUR HOT HAND!
I just don’t get it, and you can see that not doing that hurt us this year. I mean, during the bowl, in that first drive, Lump was running decently. So what does Coach do? The next series he puts in Ware.
It makes no sense.
Moreno is a beast. I really think he’s the next Garrison Hearst. I mean, he has the same body type, he runs the same style. He’s strong back who is fast and can catch. And he’s durable enough to run for 1000.
If our staff lets him.
In 2008, King should be our Reggie Bush. Moreno should be our Lendell White. And with Matthew throwing to Troupe and Massaquoi and NeDaris Ward at TE, man… I’m salivating.
And as for next year, I really hope that Brown can come back by the fall to be the switch-em-up guy that Tyson Browning used to be for us. That way, when we need a quick spark and Lump and Moreno are tired, Brown can come in as the scat back.
Also, Dawg fans, do you think next year we see more of the spread formations that Matthew is most comfortable with? And if that is so, do you think the coaching staff uses Henderson and his speed more to stretch the field to leave the middle more open for guys like MoMass and NeDaris Ward?
I’m going to say, Dawgs next year finish 11-1. Go to the Championship Game to play Arkansas. And we’re Sugar Bowl bound.
Also, we handle Turdbow next year, as I think will LSU and Tennessee and in a shocker, South Carolina, and the main difference in the game being Coach Bobo calling the game on offense. Turdbow the Golden Boy loses 4 games next year, and those ungrateful Gayturds are left to realize that hey, Chris Leak wasn’t all that bad.
Also, I think South Carolina, usually a tough game anyway for us, is going to be, along with the Auburn game, the toughest game we play. They are going to be really, really improved next year.
So what do y’all think about some of my ramblings?
GO DAWGS!!!

Bird Dawg, “Attack, attack and hit’um again”! That is my own slogan to discribe the type of “O” I like to see and I used that to talk about MR’s “O” at FSU. We saw Bobo, in the 2nd half, stand on his own to feet and go to that type of “O” I want to see that expanded. with Moreno coming on line I would like to see more that one RB at a time on the field. Moreno and Southerland can catch the ball(Sat. night was an abberition)so between the 3 we can have a lot more motion and more ways to get to the outside quicker. I don’t know Coach Nall so really I don’t know what he wants. War Eagle does. Addington Troup and Bailey just give Bobo and Stafford more weapons to work with. One thing I’ve disagreed with about coaches is this idea that you don;t wantto show all you have. Bobby Bowdenand a couple of us reporters would sit around in hid office about kick these things around. He knid of felt the same way. Givem more to think about. These changes that are taking place on the coaching staff are very good. May have missed a question but tried to give you my opinions and killed a lot of trees in doing so. Happy New Year and let’s all stay tuned today and pull for the SEC teams against the country.

No response BirdDawg? There must be 2 different birddawg’s on this blog.
The birddawg that just mentioned logan gray playing next year must not be to up on our recruits. He knows he is coming to ga to red shirt. The boy needs to get strong lest he get killed by a sec lb.
The area to look for in spring will be LB. can Gamble a safety turn into a middle lb. He is up to like 225. M. washington got hurt this season and seems slow. Akeem Dent is a possibility as well. I don’t think they will make the dew play middle. He is definitely a sam. Hebron at the will.
Another issue. If Chandler starts at TE, can he block like we need him to? I hope n. ward is ready to go.

Bird Dawg, I am in complete agreement about putting Ware in there!!! If you notice, more and more people are talking about “total yardage gained” by the RB. They’re touchimg the ball but not just linning up in th I formation and runnig. I think Bobo’s “O” will have the backs involved in more than just running. Will we see more of the spread offense?……BANK IT AND DISCOUNT IT, WE WILL. BOBO IS SMART ENOUGH TO PLAY TO THE STRENGHT’S OF HIS LEADER. THE SPREAD ALLOWS STAFFORD,”MY BOY”, TO USE HIS ABILITIES MORE. As to Coach Nall I don’t know enough to make a call. Judging by the way Nabraska is running all over AU untill that int., some body better do something on the AU team or they’re going down.

Did anyone else catch the remark MR made about “OL” recruiting? guys get used to it as a tech fan i have had to struggle through reggie ball as yall well know but i dont mean to scare you but i see many similarities in ball and stafford. while i will say it looks like stafford has more talent and upside his freshman numbers were worse than balls. also he lost to teams he should beat and beat teams he shouldnt like ball ie auburn at miami.
chip jones.. Not so fast my little techie bud. You have got to be freaking kidding me. How in the h3ll can you compare thug Reggie to Stafford. It’s not even a comparison.. not even close.
Matthew is 1-0 vs. Reggie.
Shockley 1-0 vs. Reggie.
Greene 2-0 vs. Reggie.
Reggie’s record vs. Dawgs.. 0-4. Reggie is in the same club with the Clausen brothers.
Stafford poses more talent than Ball. He will win more championships than Reggie ever has.. or does Ball have any?.. other than those little dinky little bowls. No brah, I’ll take Stafford over Reggie any time.. it’s a no brainer. Even Calvin Johnson knows that. C’mon brah.. have a happy New Year anyway.
Meanwhile, I’m going to Hang Loose and enjoy the win and watch some mo’ bowls.. and looking forward to beat you guys again.

Conyers, if I ever have the displeasure of meeting you, I’ll be sure the first thing you see is my driver’s license.
Buck, have faith, both spiritual and in your oncologist, and you will be there with the rest of us to see Matthew, Sean, Israel, MoMass, NeDaris, and Moreno tear up Okie State.
And Conyers, I don’t know everything. I just know this team. And as much as you don’t like me (feeling’s mutual, blind homer), and whether you want to admit it or not, my predictions after the G-Day Game last year were uncanny. Y’all scoffed when I told you that the team wanted Matthew, not Joe T, and when I dared to say that Coach Bobo should be handed the playcalling reigns because he earned them.
But I was right. As I was about Willie Mo’s defense being inconsistant.
So you better hope my hotstreak continues when I say Georgia 11-1, going into the SEC Championship game and finishing in the Sugar Bowl.
But, once again, Conyers, it’s not luck. I know this team. And I’m sorry if I come off as an @$$ with the I-told-you-so’s.
It wouldn’t have been so bad if I wasn’t proven so right after being ridiculed by the blind homers.
But a New Year brings a new humility, methinks.
So, Buck, you’re in my prayers, and I offer a truce to the blind homers. Stop being blind, and I guarantee we won’t have any issues next year.
Oh, and for the Falcons fans, our New Year’s wishes were granted. Le’Infant Terible’ is gone. Can you say Ken Whisenhunt (the only Bug I have no problem rooting for)?

Wanna say to all Dawg Fans everywhere, How Bout Them Dogs!! Nice come from behind win. Thank goodness the defense stepped it up some again. I just found this blog today and was reading some of the remarks others left. I guess we all have an opinion as to what happened this year and why. But even though we stumbled through this season unbalanced, i was at the south carolina game and noticed it then. Win or lose i just love my Bulldogs! They always seem to surprise me. But i will drop my opinion on this: If we dont win the recruiting battle in the next few years around the south…it’s gonna get ugly. Spurrier (i still cant stand that name..lol), is doing a great job at putting together a team that will compete for the sec east next year or so. UT seems to be back in an upswing somewhat on their recruiting efforts.(i hate all things orange..hehe) and UF is gonna get their lions share as well. In my mind we must continue, esp over the next few years, to recruit very well. Or its gonna be a b#@$%. And i only want one gift from my bulldogs next year. Just beat UF and quit making them look so good when they aren’t. we give it to them most years and i for one just want it stopped next year if nothing else. Yadda, yadda, yadda. Nothing left to say except…GO DAWGS!!!! You guys made this fan so proud to be part of the Dawg Nation!! Hats off.. :)

Thanks everyone for the kind thoughts. SCDAWGFAN, more than once I’ve said we better kep and eye on SOS. He’s a building but I think we now have the antidote. Did you notice my posts above about the comments MR made about checking out physical backgrounds more? I do believe that with him now being the head coach only, we’ll see a lot of changes and one will be even better recruiting. Allen Bailey is one example. He hurt his back and only played in 4 games this season. Read where he was eaten alive in the all star game. MR, not the line coach , will evaluate his condition. IMO, these move will do nothing but help the Dawgs…….right now ,the Vols are losing and the bugs are leading W.VA. 21-7. AU down to start the 4th. SEC not looking so good

One more thing:
There is another reason to wonder about Willie Mo. His inability to make pregame and in-game adjustments when facing a mobile QB. Mobile QB’s have killed our defense while Willie Mo has been the coordinator, and as more and more mobile QBs are coming into the league, this is yet another reason to still be wary of our DC.
Oh, and it looks like the Bugs are going to lose.
Jim Mora fired, and the Bugs losing on the same day?

Blacksburger(aka Sore Loser), Take some more shots at the Dawgs and the Chick-fil-a bowl because that obviously makes you feel better. You were probably one of those VT fans I saw strutting around at halftime like the game was over. You should feel honored to have a legend like Herschel Walker ask the prayer in your bowl game. I heard they were looking for a Heisman winner from VT to say the prayer but they were fresh out of them. Just another case of blowing it for the Hokies. Just like the ACC championship last year. I bet you complained about the game being played in Florida with Florida State being the opponent. Virginia Tech has a football history. A history of blowing it. Thank goodness you guys had Michael Vick and Bruce Smith or you wouldn’t have anything. BRIAN JONES- I feel sorry for you man. You have me mixed up with BirdDawg. I only mentioned Logan Gray because of his speed and that he might figure into a more wide open offense with multiple backs in the backfield at the same time. I got into a discussion a few days ago with BuLLdawg over Logan Gray as I was told by Dave Johnson that Gray was not promised he would play quarterback. He was only told he would be given a chance to compete at the QB position but was told the coaches were looking at him playing CB and/or flanker and yes I know he probably will be redshirted especially if the kid insists that he will only play QB. Including Gray we will have 5 QB’s i.e. Stafford, Cox, Barnes, Johnathan deLaureal (walk-on) and Gray. His speed and running ability are his biggest assets at this point.

We Bulldawg fans are glad that he started this year instead of Taylor Bennett the young man had a great game today but the team came up a little short on defense. Just look at the day Calvin Johnson had today with a real Quarterback passing to him. Johnson had a career record day today. If Ball had played Tech would have been blown out! As a Dawg fan I will miss Ball and do not look forward to Taylor Bennett starting. How much eligibility does he have left?

No, on “D” that doesn’t mean a blitz every play or throwing deep on every “O” play. We need, right now, for MR to be right in th middle of recruiting and he is. being aggressive in our picks. In ‘07 we’ll have the hosses we need . Now lets have a “chasing og the Bulls” mentally and attack, attack and hit’um again style of play. Right now, ‘07 prediction…… SEC champs and a chanjce to play for the “NC”. No I’m not a dumby, that’s a true well thought out pick.

Too bad this is the last game of the season. I can’t wait ‘til next year. I am a true Dog and will never be anything else. This is a geeat finishing of the memorable season. I am truely honor to be a little part of the Dawg Nation. This will be my last blog ‘til Feb 16, 07. Coaching: Great toward the end of the year, hope to carry on the momentum to next fall. Coaching staff: Good choice of personal switching, much improvement in BIG GAME defensive calls. Recruiting: What FU have that we don’t have? Can’t let the big nose Urban put his hands on EVERY prime recruits. Watch out for Ray Goff recruiting (for USC), the man can really toucth the kids minds. Thanks Dogs for give us a great season ending. Hope Oliver and Johnson stay with us. the game breaker, Bailey is comming back. Everytrhings looking up, and I can wait a few more months. My bad BigDawg! Accept my apology. I used to post here all the time and I don’t get the chance as much anyomore.
Logan is still way to skinny. We will all be wondering about him transfering by the time we land another top 10 qb next year. There are some good ones out there that the dawgs will be in the mix for.
I found one thing I agree with birddawg about i hope, we are going to get a good draft pick for the falcons at #10!

Altahama, it’s the very type of injury that MR says he’s going to take a closer LOOK at before we offer a scholarship. I’m talking about Bailey. According to Scout .com, he was handled in the All-Star game. I’m not saying MR won’t offer , I’m just repeating HIS OWN WORDS ABOUT MORE CHECKS INTO MEDICAL HISTORY WHERE A QUESTION MAY EXSIST.

Brewerfan, Congrats on the PSU and Wisconsin wins. You guys definitely deserved them today the way UT and the Hogs played. But, that most deserving Number 2 team in the nation is having their a* handed to them again in Pasadena. All we have heard is that they are absolutely, without question the #2 team in the nation. Not sure how the Gators will do, but one myth has been clarified. Michigan ain’t no #2 team except in the Big Ten.

I watched the USC/Michigan game, and one of the announcers commented (about USC) that if the team chemistry is correct, you don’t have players leaving early for the NFL.
USC reportedly has all juniors returning next year. I would like to see this type of team loyalty from the Dawg juniors, and all of them return to be seniors.

Dark Corner Dawg,
Can’t count? Hmm, let’s see, how’s this for you? Penn State defeated Tennessee, and Wisconsin defeated Arkansas, that makes it Big Ten 2, SEC 0 in head to head play! That good enough for you? Oh, and to all Arkansas fans out there, you have NOTHING to be ashamed about because you played your @$$es off…good game on your part, you just came up a bit short, but it was a GREAT slugfest! I have nothing bad to say about Arkansas because I think they are about as underappreciated in the country as we are…no one seems to give us both any credit, we just win! Oh, and to all you other SEC’ers, please don’t say that Michigan was our only decent opponent this year because we waxed Penn State, who happened to beat Tennessee, and we beat Iowa, who played toe to toe with a damn fine Texas team.
Bob,
Yes, Michigan is getting beat down, but YOU try facing a pi$$ed off USC team that lost to a wimp in the SAME stadium they are playing in now, which happens to be, oh, about 5-10 miles down the road from the USC campus. My point is, give MAJOR props to USC because they are extremely talented and could beat ANYONE at any given time (look what they did to Arkansas AT Arkansas earlier this year), but Michigan, who was pretty much griping over their being shafted for the re-match with Ohio State, just didn’t stand much of a chance in this one. Again, take nothing away from USC, but this game smelled like a USC win when this matchup was first announced.

USC/Michigan, did Michigan get off the bus or, are they just that bad. After watching them play Ohio State I knew they didn’t have much of a defense, but I thought they would at least score enough points to make it a respectable game. This game was a good example of how speed and good coaching will be the pants off of big and good coaching. By the way, War Eagle!!!

Brewer,
If you feel like you got screwed, you should be out to prove how good you are. I mean they were playing one of the most prolific teams in the history of College Football in the Grand Daddy. For 4 weeks we have heard many of the ESPN and ABC talking heads about how Michigan was DEFINITELY the 2d best team in the country. Like the OSU game, they scored late to make it look closer than it was.
Kudos for your two wins today. There are indeed too many SEC fans that don’t give enough credit to other teams from other parts of the country. Still, the SEC is sitting pretty good to have a winning bowl season.
As for the Dawgs, we will miss Johnson. We should have enough depth at RB to take up any slack for the loss of Ware. Hope Oliver decides to stay. And kudos to the Coaching Staff and players for a real character check this year, and especially at the Dome on Saturday night.

As a charter member of the FANS OF CHAN, I have to bow to the amazing wisdom of the greatest coaching mind in college football. Who else would have lost their last three games just to set themselves up for a National Championship dark horse run in 2007. The utter brillance is stupefying. Lose each game by three points or less so you can move through the ranks of ner do wells in 2007 as Patton ran through France. If only Mike Adams, Allah bless his name, would fire Mark Richt, Mike Bobo, Willie Martinez and the nutrition director at Sanford Stadium and hire CHAN and company. In the words of Louis the Satchmo Armstrong, What a wonderful world it would be.

No problem as I only wanted you to know that no one was posing as BirdDawg.
Buck you are welcome and I have been praying for you. If you could continue giving updates on your health I would greatly appreciate it. Just like you I am excited about this group of players we have coming into next year. As for Bailey I heard and read the same things you did about his back problem. If he has a disk problem that will never get better only worse, what a shame. I think it is more important that we get Cameron Heyward anyway as he is the type of interior defensive lineman that can blow up plays. Did CJ announce that he is entering the NFL draft today? As for Nick Saban it is expected that he will announce his decision tomorrow, apparently Alabama is offering him $40 million over 8 to 10 years as reported by ESPN. As for talented and game breaking WR’s everybody keeps talking about Bailey, Henderson and Troupe well you have forgotten about Tony Wilson who is an absolute burner and Walter Hill who has size and speed much like Calvin Johnson. The thing here is for these guys to be consistant in catching the football.

brian jones… Stafford will help us bring mo’ championships. Yes I do know a thing or two about the great Amercian sports, especially football. I had good coaches who introduced football to me in 10th grade. Fell in love with it/love the game passionately. Blew my knees out after high school and never tried to make it to the next level. But now, I enjoyed coaching my son in youth league and teaching the basic/fundamentals to the young kids.
I’m a young dawg fan since ‘95 when I met a Georgia dawg-southern girl. Married her/dawgs since then. Swam all the way from Oahu to Southern Georgia.. ha!

Dark, that would be one whipping and one win in the Game I Hate To See. The more recent one was close. As I said on the other blog, the SEC is good but is not the giant that is head and shoulders better than everyone else as some of the kool aid drinkers here believe. I know playing ACC teams as out of conference competition will give anyone a big head because of the ease of victory, but this year the Big Ten, while not nearly as good in the bottom 2/3, is better at the top. 2 for 2 today and 3 for 3 after THE OSU destroys UF will be icing on the cake. Even AUbarn had problems against a medicore Nebraska team. As for Michigan, #1 I wouldn’t call Michigan good coaching, that advantage is for USC all day and #2 it’s an obvious letdown game for a team that thought they should be in a rematch for the title.

Hey Dark Corner Dawg,
Dude, you make me laugh! OK, yeah you whipped us 33-6, what, back in 1996? Come on here, that’s almost a generation ago! Then 3 years ago, you beat us, but you sure as heck didn’t “whip” us…it was 24-21. Well, since that game, we have won 2 straight against the mighty SEC, including last year’s thrashing of Auburn.
Again, I’m not knocking the SEC in general, I’m just more pi$$ed at the media for thinking we’re the same league we were back in 1950. What people don’t realize, especially Corso and Holtz, is that we DO have alot of speed, we’re not just a bunch of plodders. I think we’ve proven that, within the past 5-7 years, we can hang and BEAT the SEC, and realize too that the majority of our bowl games with you guys is played in an SEC backyard (Tampa, Orlando, etc.). Yeah, I admit, this year the Big Ten was kinda down, especially after OSU, Mich, Wisc, and PSU, but Iowa is usually much better than they showed this season. Remember last year, when the SEC was kinda down, especially Tenn, and you guys sent only 6 teams to bowls? Well this year, we were the down conference, but we’ll be much better next year…you watch!

Scooter noted in one of the earlier posts about the “after the play antics” by some of our players. I agree 100%. Cut out the trash talking and the after the play pushing and shoving and just play ball. Or, as my old high school coach would say (actually, it was more of a growl while he had ahold of your facemask…) “you got something to say, say it with your shoulderpads.”
We blog about Miami being “Thug U”. Well, we’re not too far behind. Richt needs to get a handle on this and instill some discipline.
One final note, who is advising Danny Ware? Starter in his Freshman year (well, he wasn’t really a Freshman, but that’s another story…), third string by his Junior year. Yep, the NFL is just salivating at this prospect…

Buck and Cuz prayers for you guys and your health.
I made it to the game. Awesome. Bill as much as we didn’t like some of the things the defense did this year you cannot say one negative thing about the way those guys finished the season. As I have said all year and told the VaTech guy sitting next to me when we were down by 18. “Our offense is doing it again, turnovers, quick three and outs, no rest for the defense. They will get tired then we might be in trouble. BUT ONE THING FOR SURE IS THAT THIS TEAM DOESN’T QUIT!” And damn if they didn’t. I yelled the entire time. Starting at the fan fest. I was disappointed at the UGA crowd though. Most were sitting when the dawgs came out for the second half. I was impressed with the VaTech crowd. I don’t know what the guy above was complaining about, it appeared that they had a good size, very loud crowd there.
Lee, good point. I don’t know who #39 is on the special teams, but he seemed to be a little bit out of control. I like the fire but not the extra activities and jawing.
Props to #11 ReMarcus Brown. That kid can flat out fly. Missed the tackle on the long punt return, turned on the burners and caught up back with the VaTech guy. Always the first one down on the coverage team. Don’t know what he runs the 40 in but damn.
Anyway, great way to end the season. With GaTech getting WHIPPED by WVA what a nice way to ring in the new year.

brian jones, I would like to know about all this Tech football tradition you talk about. You must be referring to the 1920’s and 30’s. As far as Stafford goes, he is going to turn into a superstar. Just give the kid time. He’s only 18 years old. You know you would take him. You probably didn’t see the 5 passes that were dropped against VTech. Stafford has had to deal with that all year. He made freshman mistakes this year and learned from them. Reggie Ball made freshman mistakes as a Sophmore, Junior, and Senior. It wasn’t too long ago that everybody in Atlanta was talking up Reggie as a superstar in the making. Stafford has many intangibiles that Ball didn’t. Us Dawg fans heard the same trash about David Greene when he was a freshman. He had a pretty good career wouldn’t you say. All-time leader in 1A QB wins. Not too bad. “CJ’ is gone. There goes half of Tech’s touchdowns next year. GO DAWGS!!

Hey, Brewer…
Did you know that the Dawgs haven’t lost to a Big 11 team… like ever?
Dude, top to bottom, the SEC is the better league. 9 bowl teams. Y’all had 3 very good teams, I even said that. After that, your drop off was emmense.
In the SEC from top to bottom, every team’s talent is one or two players apart, accept for our bottom 3 or 4. And this year, it was just a bottom 3.
I mean, 5 teams from the East made a bowl this year, and our 4th and 5th in that division teams won 8 games apiece.
The Big 11 can’t even come close to those kind of numbers. Also, because you won’t admit a 12th member, you never really know who has the best team in the Big 11 because there are times when two teams can win the conference because they don’t play each other.
How cheap is that?
Time to get with the big boys, Brewer. Time for your little conference to admit a 12th member and get a championship game.
Also, count me as one of the guys who can’t wait for Bobby Cox to retire or die or whatever, so we can poach Ned Yost to come and lead the Braves.

I guess I’m in a field of one. To me, there were two turning points. 1. MR,and that gut check on sides kick. Man what a daring call. It’s what I’ve been waiting for. 2. In the 1st half, Bobo was calling plyas just like we had all season long and Va.Tech was all over us. They knew what we were gonna do before we did it. THEN, IN THE 2ND HALF, MIKE BOBO BECAME HIS OWN MAN AND CALLED THE GAME HIS WAY AND WE SAW A WORLD OF DIFFERENCE IN THE PLAY SLECTION. i SAW PLAYS THAT WE HADN’T SHOWN ALL YEAR. HE TURNED THE “SPECIMAN” LOOSE, QUIT WORRYING ABOUT EVERY LITTLE THING THAT COULD GO WRONG AND USED HIS WEAPONS. AS MR SAID, HE MADE SOME “GUTSE” CALLS. You disapeared after the Dawgs spanked your team in your pitiful stadium in front of your loser fans, and shut out your big mouth coach.
Where have you been since September, LameCockGary?
Where have you been you front-running piece of crap?
What, so you beat Houston, so you think you can come talk trash on our boards?
LameCockGary, I have some news for you:
Our defense will be just as good next year, well, as long as Willie has found the ability to stay consistant.
We have a safety we redshirted who hits harder than Davis and Blue.
We have Oliver coming back (God, please let him come back).
We’re going to be okay.
But the only thing y’all have going for you (Sidney Rice) is as good as gone.
Have fun, LameCockGary, talking trash for the next 9 months. Then, when the Dawgs shut you up again, and you disapear, once again, we’ll have another quiet four months or so.

Bird Dawg,
LOL! Ned Yost? Shoot, take him, please…all he is is another Bobby Cox! Please take Dead Toast, maybe then we’ll win some ballgames!
Back to the Big Ten. Alright, I’ve stated this numerous times, WHO do you recommend we get as our 12th team? Notre Dame would be logical and we’ve asked them about a million times and they don’t have the gonads to join…they want their money instead. Who else? I’ve said that I would prefer Louisville because they are an up and comer who have already migrated from the C-USA to the Big East, so this jump wouldn’t be too big. Let’s see, who else? NO ONE from the crappy MAC conference, so if you have any bright ideas, I’m all ears!
Again, yes, this year the Big Ten was in a funk, but remember last year, the SEC was in a funk (only 6 bowl teams), so I’ll bet my left arm we’ll be MUCH more competitive from top to bottom than this year. This year we had Ohio State, Michigan, Wisconsin, and Penn State as legitimate powers, and Iowa is usually in that group but they went through a rough spell this year. Purdue is decent, but one team to watch out for next year is Illinois. They were extremely young but had a Top 15 recruiting class (remember Zooker is the HC) and this year it’s a Top 10 class. So we should be well stocked in 2007. Remember, ALL conferences go through a lull every now and then…SEC’s was 2005 and Big Ten’s was this year.

Nice comeback Dawgs, defense is the name of the game, great LB play and # 8 played a hellva game.Auburn won on turnovers and defense also.We had several freshman who played well on defense, it should be a interesting year in 2007. Auburn has to improve QB play, its not very good as the year concluded. Best football game last night I have seen in many a year(Boise State overtime win). Auburn will ranked in the Top Ten probably between 7th and 9th. Kedric Golston was named 2nd team All NFL Rookie Team. Marcus McNeill, Auburn(same high school ?)) was named first team. Bird, Saban gave up one of the top3 jobs in the ACC(along with UGA and UF.) As good as he is, he’s going to be even better than I think he is to pry recruits to Tuscaloosa. He won’t have the in state advantage he had at LSU(great recruiting base and no instate comptetition, kind of like UGA but even better since Tech pretends to be major), and we all know there’s not a ton of instate talent there(and another big time to school to share with.) Saban is nuts if he takes this job, if he wants to go bck to college he should out for a good job. The Bama job is tradition and nothing else, kind of like Nebraska.

If Saban comes back to ‘Bama I’ll be supprised. He did leave one of the best jobs in the country and left for what? To prove something to himself? Oh well, we split with him so come on back. We’ll have a home coming party for you next Sept.

Never underestimate Saban.
He goes to Bammer, and he can tell those kids he’s recruiting that he knows the kind of players they need to become to make it in the NFL. And he knows how to make them into those kind of players.
Look at USC, another school which had fallen on hard times, and which was nothing more that tradition, Badger.
Pete Carroll came in, sold a bunch of in state and out of state blue chip five star recruits that he can make them into NFL-ready players.
Never underestimate, Saban.
He goes to Bammer, and he, not Tubby becomes the best coach in the state, the man with the ring and the rep. He is established in Louisianna with all of those high school coaches. He’s established in the Florida panhandle. He can pull the guys from Georgia we don’t target over Tubby, because he’s the better coach.
I’m telling you, if Nick goes to Bammer, and no one can say for sure if he is going or not, but if he goes, Tubby will be sweating and may even be looking to move away from Auburn before he has to face Lowdes’ wrath.
Besides, with Saban at Bammer, that’s just one more loss Fat Phil is staring into. And anything to give the Great Pumpkin heart pains is alright by me.
And Buck, we didn’t split with him. We went 1-2 against him.

Bird, you just made my point by being a little off. USC is NOT just tradition, there is a ton of talent in CA and most of it is in southern California. Like FL, that area supplies 10 schools worth of teams. There aren’t 10 players coming out of AL in any given year worth anything. Also, where would a typical recruit rather go, Tuscaloosa or LA? I’ve been to Tuscaloosa many times and while if I HAD to be there 4 years I could deal with it, it would by no means be my first choice(or second or third or tenth.) Saban will no doubt improve the Tide if he goes, but I don’t think he will make them a power on a consistent basis. At LSU, he had a much better talent base and no in state schools to compete with. Alabama =Nebraska, hug tradition but no feasible way of ever living up to it. Saban could go to Indiana or Miss St and do as well as he will at Alabama.

Bird, I do agree that UA will trump AU if Saban comes to town, and I have no clue where TT’s ego is going to hide. He will obviouslyly outcoach and probably outrecruit the Pumpkin(UT doesn’t have any instate talent either, although Knoxville is nicer than Tuscaloosa.)

Saban would be crazy to go to Bama. He has an owner that likes him a lot, pays him extremely well, and he still has a challenge ahead him in building a team in Miami with plenty of time to do it. Besides I heard on sports talk this morning that his wife might not want to leave the high style living of Miami to go to the high style of living in Tuscaloosa. That might be the hang up. Huizenga (?) might match the offer so if the money is the reason he will stay. Just my opinion though.

There you go! Little Nicky to Bama. Now if you are a recruit do you believe him when he says he will be there for your entire four years? That looks to be the timelines on his job changes. One thing for sure the conference just got tougher.
“I don’t know how many times I have to say this I am not going to be the coach at Bama” Little Nicky take my word for it, a week and a half ago.

I’m glad MR started recruiting nation wide because with Saban back recruiting just got a little tougher. Just take a look at the coaches in the SEC! So let’s get some more young men from the Jersey shore to Cal. We’re going to need the mix.

BadgerDawg, Saban might trump the dawgs too. He is not God as Bammer wants everyone to think.CTT is 3-2 against Lord Nick.. If he goes 6-6 his first year, hello Bear Jr, goodbye Nick.Bammer fans don`t understand, names does not win in the SEC…

Martinez: Three man rush most of the year resulted in horrible results. Safety blitz once aganinst Tennessee and it worked, then did not blitz again. Last three games of the season abandoned the three man rush. Results obvious. Even rookie coaches know you cannot win without putting pressure on the QB.

Well, there goes the SEC! Cant believe they acutally went and got Saban. Man, Although he might be a very good college coach, I still think his character and integrity just sucks! Never did really respect him and now i see why. Sad. I hope UGA never gets into that position where we are so desperate that we “bribe, beg, etc”, no matter how embarrassing. Jeesh, I’m beginning to think less and less of Bama as a whole. Oh well…thats college football nowadays i guess.

Oh Yeah, one more thing. Who saw the Boise State / Oklahoma game? That was absoluetly the best game ive seen in at least 4-5 years! Take a bunch of 2-3 star rated players and give them good coaching and makem believe they can win and lo and behold..hehe, a great game!! Hats off to Boise State for the effort. Be nice to see that hook and ladder and the statue of liberty play added to Georgia’s play book. Hehe, might come in handy one day….I loved it!!

I wish UGA’s strong finish would have had a better impact on recruiting. It would seem that the big name blue chippers that remain uncommitted are not really considering UGA. In addition, so many of the top commitments for this year are guys who went to Hargraves from last year’s class. Well, hopefully there is a Tim Jennings out there somewhere!

I posted the conference rankings to show that clearly the top “major” conferences include the Big East, the SEC, and the ACC. IMHO, we need to stop quarreling with each other.
The over-rated “major” conferences include the PAC 10, Big 10, and Big 12. Notre Dame is always over-rated as well.
We, the fans of the ACC, SEC, and Big East need to continuously point out to the media that they always over-rate the PAC 10, Big 10, and Big 12 (and Notre Dame) and so they need to STOP VOTING FOR THEM!!!!!

2008 will probably be Ga. greatest recruiting class. Tons of skill talent will be comming to Ga. including the potential #1 player in the country. AJ Green was the only junior to make the usa AA team.
Searls is a recruitng machine and has ties to Texas, Lous., and other parts in the south. Great Hire CMR!
Here is his bio. We got a good one guys a true teacher and producer of o-line men.
http://www.lsusports.net/ViewArticle.dbml?SPSID=28715&SPID=2164&DBOEMID=5200&ATCLID=174020&Q_SEASON=2006
Get ready for 2009! With Searls teaching our o-line, King and Moreno running, Stafford to Green, and the defense we will put on the field full of top 10 athletes in all positions. The BullDawg nation will be going crazy.
Little looked horrible. We have plenty of o-line men in this class and can land one more, a kid out of miami named Franklin a one time miami commit who is big real big.
great recruiting is based on how well you fill up your needs. Ga needed o-line men and we are signing the best o-line class in georgia history. We needed a RB. Don’t get no better then King. I would take King over any of those kids running today. There you have it.

Coach UM will leave by 2009. $$$ is calling, and UF football is sliding down the next two years. For this year, it is great and congrat. Hope UF football is not too good to be in SEC.

For Phillygator. Gosh i just love you gator fans..lol. you have enjoyed very good coaching but mostly the sweet recruits over the last ten or so years. but you forget something bro, everything recruiting goes in cycles. eventually other schools will drain off more and more of those sweet high calibur recruits, then the gators will enjoy a mediocre season at best just like the rest of us..hehe. me being a dawgfan i expect up and down years. been following them since the 70’s. nothing new…just the way recruiting goes more or less. but i’ll bet since you just love rubbing it in for all to hear..lol, when the gators recruiting falls far short of what theyve been used too and they start having so-so years…the rest of us wont hear a peep out of you! lol, other than complaining and making excuses. I know so many fans like that. Loud and proud when theyre team is up but never hear from’em again when their teams take a drive down so-so seasons…hehe. just my two cents worth bro. :-)

You got the wrong Gator. I never hide like a cockroach.
You couldn’t be more wrong about recruiting. check the rankings. Plus harvin and tebow will only be sophmores. When you are NC’s you usually follow up with the recruits begging to come. Like most athletes in Florida the off season. Miami and FSU are down, and we are going way up. good luck stopping us!
I will always be here no matter what their record. Anytime you wanna discuss good college ball. I am on the sporting new’s site as phillygator also.
