Nice thought, but let’s not get carried away …

Start Joe T. against the Jackets?

OK, nice gesture. Classy gesture. And as long as it’s for JUST ONE PLAY (and that preferably is a handoff to Kregg Lumpkin or Brannan Southerland), it probably wouldn’t do any harm.

A whole series at the start of the game? I don’t think so. The Dawgs need to get off on the right foot against their in-state rival, and the first offensive series is too important to be messing around with sentimental symbolism.

No offense intended to Joe T., but Matthew Stafford is our QB now, and he’s finally getting in the groove. Why would we want to mess with that in an important game like this?

Too big of a game to let Joe T. do much more than one play. Stafford is finally starting to look comfortable at the quarterback position, not a good time to take him out to say thanks to Joe T.

Very nice gesture even if it is for the first series. But, unfortunatly I have to agree with Bill, let’s not get too carried away. Joe T is a TRUE DAWG and he needs some recognition for all of his efforts on senior day.

My thoughts exactly. You always put the team before any individual player, and the tech game is too important. Let’s beat tech down like we did against Auburn, and then put Joe T. in at the end and let him throw it around.

I don’t care if its his birthday, wedding day, and senior day all together, this is Tech and we need to stick it to them with Stafford, not Joe. We all appreciate his loyalty, but if we are blowing Tech out of the water, then…maybe

It’s not like JTIII has done anything worthy of being honored with this gesture.

It would be different if he had been a 2 year starter and missed most of this season with an injury.

No way should Richt do it.

Mark Richt is a good coach but he just does not seem to understand how important consistent leadership is to this fragile team. They finally came together under Stafford and now he is going to insert Joe T. back into the mix?! That is ridiculous. Please, the kid had his chance to play football at Georgia!! That is more than enough. He is not that good of a football player and yet he still started at quarterback for Georgia!! This game needs to be about focus and determination. Joe T. should not touch the ball unless it is as a holder for Ely-Kelso.

Most people on this and everyother blog know that I’ve been a Stafford man ALL THE WAY!! Bill, did you read my last sentence on your last blog? I said 1st. play. That’s it.I think it’s a good gesture on MRs part but if I were Joe T I wouldn’t do it; however if it happens, ONE PLAY!!! I WANT MY MAN, THE LEADER OF THIS DAWG TEAM, TAKING SNAPS. MATTHEW STAFFORD!

Senior day…seniors play. Is that not how most schools do it? Sure, how MUCH they play is up to the coach. But on the occassion of the last home game, every able bodied Sr. should get at least a little PT. Even if it is defending a PAT.

I think it is a classy move, but isn’t it a slap in the face if it is ONE PLAY? That’s the coach telling the senior ‘thanks for being here, you can have one play, but you are no good’. I really thought Richt may start Cox against Tech. Auburn is not as good a team as Tech (proven by Tech beating Auburn the last two years straight). Cox would be a little more relaxed in the backfield. Tenuta has shown he loves going against Freshman QB’s with weak OL’s. Tech has not lost against a Freshman QB since Tenuta has coached the defenses. Period. Hasn’t happened and I believe it won’t.

Here is my pick: (the if) If Tech (Reggie Ball) plays heads up with no interceptions and Tech controls the UGA Special teams, Tech wins 24-13.

If UGA can force Reggie to make mistakes like in the past and UGA’s special teams makes a few plays, UGA wins 16-10.

Stafford will have a hard day, either way. Tech will blitz, blitz more, and blitz again. Look for many 3 and outs. He will make a few plays when the D gets crossed up, but this is no Auburn game. Tech will come harder than anyone he has ever faced. Charlie Weis recently stated Tech took Quinn out of his game. If not for a few good plays here and there, he stated they were outmatched. UGA does not have the running game to occupy all the linebackers into run tackling. They will have time to rush in and make plays. Stafford will get confused and the game will go downhill.

UH?? stafford finds his mojo, and CMR wants to put Joe 3 sticks in? I dont get it, and I dont like it. Even a handoff is one wasted play that we’ll never get back. This is insanity. And youre right Johnny, whats up with taking a knee with 2:30 left in the game agaisnt Auburn? I mean I understand being respectful, but just run it up the middle 4 more times, if you score you score if you dont, you dont. We havent played a full game yet, auburn was only 57 minutes and 30 seconds. Darn it dawgs lets play for 60 can we??

By Brett

November 14, 2006 12:55 PM | Link to this

Where did some of you see that CMR would play JT3 for the entire first series or even the entire game…or that this is even definite!?! The article says he MAY start opening play! Notice that it said “play” as in one down…not an entire series and certainly not the entire game. Get a grip!

I say give him the start, hand off to Lumpkin or QB sneak, and then let him shake hands with Stafford with his head held high.

Contrary to what some of you think, this season has been a complete waste. The Auburn game proved that…showing what we have been capable of and didn’t do all along. Can some of it be salvaged with beating Tech and (hopefully winning) a respectable bowl game, yes. Will it matter if we don’t, no. Too little too late.

Ugag’s season is a bust. Who cares about the starter? Why is this even an issue/story?

The issue/story should be for ugag…. how do you turn this titanic around for next year? What happened to this year’s team to lose to Vandy and Kentucky? Why is it that ugag regularly gets top 10 recruiting classes/talent and yet cannot turn them into regular top 10 teams?

Why focus on a small leak when the bottom of the boat is missing?

Ugag will have to learn a lesson that Tech has had to learn over recent years - first fix the framework/fundamentals and then worry about the small stuff.

By trouble.in.athens.again

I don’t think UGA would deserve a Peach Bowl invite regardless if they win or lose. Peach Bowl officials could care less about records. They want to sell tickets and consessions.

Just look at the records in the SEC. Kentucky may have an equal record to UGA either 7-5 or 8-4 and Kentucky BEAT UGA! The Peach Bowl will not invite Kentucky because they will not have as many fans make the trip and as in state bowl game for UGA like the Peach bowl. So if you get the invite, don’t pat yourselves on the back. A team that loses to Vanderbilt and Kentucky and one point wins over Colorado shouldn’t be playing against Bowl caliber teams. It is all about the ticket sales, not the name of your University or its history. Only money. UGA would clearly be overmatched in a bowl game of that caliber. Sorry, not trying to hate, only reality folks.

I think it would be “nice” to put JTIII in the first play, but I do see how (as another poster put it), doing so could be taken as a slap in the face. But, then again, I think the standing “O” he would [SHOULD] get would be worth it to him. Just like you did when you sat on the ball at the 8 yard line against Auburn last week, you have blown me away with your class, CMR. Cheers to ya.

TO JustMe: Maybe your name should be “just doesn’t really follow football;” UGA has fielded top 10 teams the four years prior to this one. A couple of bad games during this season will not change that, and the amount of learning these kids had during those games will be invaluable over the next few years. Granted no one wants to lose those games which we did, but UGA will be back among the elite teams before too long. Tell me again, how many times in Tech history have the Bugs won 10 games? Oh yeah, less than UGA has in the past four years, that’s right.

Troubleinathens: The same way we were outmatched against Auburn and Fla? Inconsistent and underperforming this team has been; overmatched this team has not. And, you really think Cox would be more relaxed? The kid who hasn’t played in a couple months, who looked terrible in his last - make that only - start at UGA against Ole Miss? Since you are a Tech fan (and I am trying to remember what Tech’s run D looked like in that Clemson game, can you remind me please?), and apparently someone who doesn’t follow college football that much, let me explain the decision not to switch back to Joe Cox for the last game of the year: Stafford is clearly more talented than Cox, and now has FAR more experience in game situations. I can hardly see how standing on the sideline watching all season would make Cox more relaxed in a big-time, national TV game situation.

And in case you have forgotten - or should I say missed it, since most of America did - this quote from a Utah (a team playing with their backup QB who was making his second career start against the Insects in the “WhoCares” Bowl wide receiver: “They quit on themselves,” said LaTendresse, the game’s offensive MVP. “Slowly but surely, they gave up. That first quarter, they had a lot of fight, and they were talking. But slowly their talk diminished, and their heads went down. That’s what you have to do: make them quit.”

You have never and will NEVER hear that be said about a UGA team. Losses I can handle, quitters, well…

All of the players know it, the coaches know it, the other team knows it, and the fans know it. That is it….one play. And for those of you who say that JTIII doesn’t deserve to play must have not been following UGA football at all this season or for the past 5 years. There is no one as much of a true DAWG as JTIII. Once Stafford was named the starter, JTIII asked if he could play somewhere else on the field just to help the team. He is a classy indiviual and deserves a loud, standing ovation next Saturday!

Carter and the AJC back at it again. Way to drum up some controversy with an out of context quote and a sensationalized headline.

If you listen to the whole PC with Coach Richt, you can hear that the question was will you consider playing him, not starting him. And in no way did Richt ever say or imply that Joe T would start.

Joe T is a DGD and deserves to get in the game after we’re up by 3 TDs, but this stuff about him starting is much ado about nothing, just the AJC looking to stir the pot.

Mark thinks about this type of thing a lot. Be nice, make everyone happy, do not run up the score, never go for the throat etc. So, it is no surprize he would do this. Do we want a coach to always go for the kill and instill fear and dread into our opponuts and possibly win a national championship someday or make nice and do things like play Joe T. on Seniors Day? Come on Mark…IF you just must do it, 3 handoffs to Lumpkin, 1st down or not, get Joe off the field and go for the “bees” knock out.

Brooks and mike12:

If you have to ask me to prove it to you, then you haven’t watched a single UGA game this year. Have you guys seen how UGA has played? Enough said. mike12, your statement has no merit. YOU proved my point with your post, dropped balls, turnovers…Auburn is not that great of a team as Tech has proven the last two years. mike12, just because your team beats one of the 4 ranked teams it plays this year does not give it the right to play in a good bowl game. I throw the question back to you, Why should UGA play in a bowl like the Peach Bowl?

If you answer, because we beat Auburn, then it is easy to see that you have no knowledge about NCAA football.

My answer that it shouldn’t is because of losses to (4-7) Vanderbilt, (6-4) Kentucky, 1 point come-from behind win at home against (2-9) Colorado, a come-from behind win at (3-7) Mississippi, and a 3 point win at home against (3-7) Miss St. Merit, you say? I think I just held you down and rubbed your nose in it.

There are other SEC teams that would deserve the invite many times more than UGA. The only reason is because they are in state. Period. Brooks, I UNDERSTAND the money inplication, it was my intent to implicate it. The decisions to invite teams SHOULD be to have the two best teams available to play the game, not who will make us the most money. I DO know that is the real reason. I’m just saying they should want a better team, and not settle for a mediorce team just to fill more seats.

I almost had a breakdown when i saw the headline. I thought it was a joke. I think we need to stick JTIII on the special teams and let him be. We need Matt Stafford to stay in the game and establish rhythm with his receivers and backs. Thank JTIII for his dedication to the program but we don’t need to play two quarterbacks. I am sure the Tech defense will try to confuse Stafford so he needs to be in the game and get some confidence. I am not trying to second guess CMR, but I hope to see JTIII on the special teams. That is my point exactly!! Clemson had the top rated run offense in the BCS leagues at that time! Tech can’t blitz and stop the run at the same time. Same with the loss with Notre Dame. They had a great running back. UGA does not have a dominant OL and run game. Tech WILL have time to blitz and stop play action. Well, this won’t be anything new - Richt is definitely a class act BUT - 1) One play is would definitely be a slap in Joe T.’s face 2) Now that Stafford finally is playing like he’s getting it, taking that momentum away would be silly, at best, 3) If tech was the typical tech team that we have seen the past several years, sure, but we’re going to need our best giving their best to win this thing.

God bless Joe T. He should get the biggest ovation of any of the seniors but starting him at QB to play more than a couple of plays would be counterproductive to the team and their goal.

I wish Richt would give his explanation for taking a knee with so much time still left in the game. It might have been different if Auburn was not going to get the ball back but that was not the case. If we score again then that is fine. It is up to Auburn to stop us. I was actually upset as I was watching this. UGA should have “finished the drill”.

You Tech folks are hilarious. Georgia absolutely destroyed the 5th-ranked team in the Country on Saturday, while the Jackets put up 7 points against a UNC defense that I-AA Furman hung 42 on!!!!!! With such a performance, I can guarantee you that Vandy and Kentucky would have beaten Tech by much worse than 2 and 4 points, respectively.

Good luck against the mighty Blue Devils this week, and even more luck against the powerhouse Demon Deacons in Jacksonville.

I played football for about 15 years, and I know that the best way to stop the run is to blitz - ie: send more people, put 8 in the box, whatever cliche you want to use. And if Stafford is able to connect on the long passes, ala Auburn game, it will slow the blitz down tremendously and open up the running game.

I think it will be a helluva game, as it was the last couple years, and for either side to say one team will be blown out is moronic.

And to continue your little Peach Bowl argument: no one has even been given a Peach Bowl invite yet, much less accepted one. And with that squeaker against UNC last week, the pull one out in the 4th quarter against Troy, and the close calls against NC State, Maryland, and Miami, I don’t think any Techie has much room to brag about great wins.

Also, a kid named Mike Schneider- Duke, remember that one? - got the best of Tenuta in ‘03, so while I will agree that Tenuta is a good coach, he is not infallible.

mikegadawg:

What? Eliminate turnovers and dropped balls? That makes no sense. If we did that most teams will only lose one or two games. Look at Tech, I can say take back the two bad calls by the refs plus the two missed pass intef calls and we would have beat the #2 team in the nation. Notre Dame did nothing to win it. The Big 12 refs who called the game made some bad calls, but I don’t come on here saying ‘take those away and we could be in the National Champ talk’. All the same, UGA has played like a mediocre team all year, except against Auburn, but that one win does not make them a bowl team that plays near Jan 1. Wake Forest, Clemson, Va Tech, BC, Maryland, Miami, and Florida State would all roll over UGA. And the latter two aren’t that good, but better than UGA.

Trouble - speaking of Clemson’s “top ranked run game”, name the cream puffs they rolled those stats up on before they played the bugs. Only one good team (BC) and they lost. They have done nothing but struggle since killing Tech. Close games are a part of football. Ohio State “barely” beating Illinois. Michigan “barely beating Indiana. Do you really think the fans up there care about those scores? No!! A win is a win, you moron. One of them (if not both) will play for a national title, and who will remember that they barely won those games? Tech barely beat a completly pathetic UNC team. Who cares? They won. Make sure Reggie “bedwetter” Ball makes the trip. I really am going to enjoy him running around, completly lost, blowing the game for you again. Kind of like Dean Smith was the only man that could stop Michael Jordan, Reggie Ball is the only man to stop Calvin Johnson. Go Dawgs!

PS The reason UGA would be a better pick for the Chick-Fil-A bowl is not only because we travel better but we also bring more teeth with us to the game. Better for eating those Chick-Fil-A’s with.

jd Here is a link to a recap on the Bulldog Hotline call-in show with CMR on the Anti-Orange Page that is a good read. Here’s what it says regarding taking the knee:

“Why did we take a knee on the 8 with 3 minutes left? CMR’s number one goal is to win, not to humiliate anyone for next time. We don’t want to do anything to cause something crazy to happen. The safest thing to do to run the clock .. it would literally be impossible for them to score three times.”

Also from that recap:

“When the buses were rolling out, CMR noticed about 100 Auburn fans left, who just stood there and tipped their hats. He’d never seen that except at Nebraska when FSU won there. Not only those Auburn fans, but Auburn’s players and coaches offered heartfelt congratulations after the game. Richt wanted to compliment them on it.”

Appreciate the class Auburn!

It’s just a way to keep Matthew “The Savior” Stafford from taking a loss in a game that he started. It’s like Richt’s away record in other team’s home stadium (does not count UF games)

Wouldn’t this be more of a slap in the face of GT by saying: hey, we can start the 2nd string QB and still beat you. But hell, I ain’t got nothing against slapping Tech upside their pointy heads.

OK…I’ll start off with the obvious, yes I am a Tech fan. Of course, starting JT would be the classy thing to do. Playing him for very long would be the stupid thing to do. (I think most Tech fans want you to take your BEST shot so we can kick the snot out of you and leave you with no whining excuses!) I’m sure that being classless AND stupid UGA will probably find a way to not start JT and then play him the rest of the game….

Let’s see Mr. Trouble in Athens, you think that “Wake Forest, Clemson, Va Tech, BC, Maryland, Miami, and Florida State would all roll over UGA”? Are you under the influence? Do you really think any of those teams are any better than Auburn, Florida, Tennessee or South Carolina? Although Tennessee certainly “rolled” over UGA in the second half (but remember UGA “rolled” over UT in the first half), UGA outscored the other three teams 69-35.

As for Mr. “Ramblor” and his comments about UGA’s “bad” wins, Tech REALLY looked sharp against mighty Troy and UNC (whose only win was a 49-42 squeaker over a Furman team that may not even make the I-AA play-offs). The Techsters can also point to a huge seven-point win over Miami, a team that beat Duke by 5 and Houston by 1!

UGA has absolutely no chance against a team with such an impressive resume!

TO: trouble.in.athens.again

I don’t think you watched the Dawgs as closely as you claim! Because if you had then you would have observed that being able to run the football was not one of our problems on offense. When we ran the ball we were successful, and at times we were dominant as in the Tennessee game, only problem we had was that Coach Richt would go away from the run and start throwing the football on every down. This led to turnovers, dropped passes, penalties etc. and it also led to the defense having to stay on the field way too much. Anyway this argument will be settled on the field on November 25th. Go Dawgs

trouble in athens, you wrote: “I don’t come on here saying ‘take those away and we could be in the National Champ talk’.” But isn’t what you say you just did; come on here and make that point? You did come on here and just say that. With that said, I agree that it’s stupid to day without turnovers, we’d have a better season (like saying if we’d win instead of lose we’d be better).

Oh, and whoever posted “Ugag” earlier on, is that supposed to be a joke? I guess those techies have a different sense of humor.

That is a nice gesture by Richt HOWEVER Stafford finally looked comfortable out there against Auburn this past weekend. There is NO I in team. There is no reason to put Joe Tereshinki’s interests above the teams well being. Thank you JT for being loyal BUT lets face it you couldnt get the job done. If you do get to play then please let it be one play handing it off to Southerland. On a side note I love how all the Tech fans on here are loving Joe T playing the whole game. Are we a little a scared that we are going to pull a Clemson on you?

Maybe let JT3 take the initial snap & hand it off to Lumpkin…then put Superstud Stafford in there. This kid has NFL caliber talent and is going to set all kind of UGA & SEC records before he leaves. Tech is a 1 trick pony (on offense) with Calvin Johnson. With an extra week to prep, the Dawgs will take the victory indeed!

Earth to Space…..Earth to Trouble in Athens… you don’t know squat about FB but you get an “A” for trying to fool all of the people all of the time!!! Our offense is never going to be the same as long as MR is in Athens. We paid and Matthew Stafford paid dearly for it but we are entering the age of the spread set offense for the Dawgs. The pass will be used to set up the run. MR want to have set with 4 & 5 recerivers on the field at the same time. Against AU, we saw the spread “O” run like a charm. It finally clicked. Took time but the man who has to make it work had grown up enough to do the job. We’re headed back to the wide open “O” that MR use to run at FSU. For myself, this is what I’ve been waiting for since the day MR drove into town. Watch Ohio St. and their QB and you’ll see where we’re going. Eventually, we’ll come out in the I-formation set about 20% of the time but coach had to get his man and now he has’em. Who is the outstanding QB coming in next year? Logan Gray. What type of “O” has he run his entire career? The Spread. he can throw and run, Stafford has shown that he too can do both and ask your recruiters what the young guys are looking for and they’ll tell. Excitement and that’s what we’ll have to offer.

I dont think it would hurt the Georgia offense to let Joe T take a couple of snaps. I also dont think it would be smart to let him try a 30-50 yard pass downfield. Mabey a couple of short pitch outs to Lumpkin or Ware. The guy is a true and loyal Bulldog, let his last regular season game bring back good memories.

On the other hand, I would also like to see Joe Cox take a couple of snaps. I know Stafford did a great job against AU, but I still think we are looking over some great talent. Joe C is smart with the football. He only had 5 ints his senior year, and passed for over 4500 yards. Dont get me wrong I enjoyed watching Staffords deepballs Saturday, but I did not enjoy those 2 fumbles, one on the 7 yard line of the opponent. I did not like watching his 12 or 13 ints in the games before AU.

I would just like to see who the best man for the job is. I have faith in MR, he is the coach, he watches the players in practice I dont, but I look at stats, and black and white dont lie. I think we have a great combo in Cox and Mass. that is costing us valuable points in these games.

True Dawg, it’s obvious you just that a true dawg but numbers can give a false impression. Sat., 1 fumble was just a dumb play but the 2nd fumble was just a great play be the AU defender. He played the play textbook perfect. Richt could have tried to run the same old “O” we’ve had in the past but he saw where the future was, so that’s the way he went. Everybodys attention was on his mistakes because they cost us a couple of games and they quit watching for all the little things he started doing right. If it had been anybody but a true freshman, the 3 fumbles in the SC game when he came off the bench and helped lead us to a win on Sat. night in Columbia against SOS, they would hardly have been counted. Every QB had his chance. In pratice they were graded, when they played they were graded and MR then had to make a decision as to who to go with. He had to! He felt that Stafford had what we needed for the future and Matthew was his choice. Stafford payed his dues, made his mistakes and all the while he was learning. Sat. it all came together. From here on watch. He’ll still make a mistake, every QB does but you can tell that this is his team based on just what his team mates said about’m. You’ll see a different QB walk on the field against Tech. You’ll see that he’s the leader because he EARNED THE RESPECT OF HIS TEAM MATES AS A TRUE FRESHMAN.

Exclusive: Richt says all assistants staying

Mark Richt By Josh Kendall Dawg Post Reporter Posted Nov 14, 2006

ATHENS – Georgia coach Mark Richt will not fire any of his assistant coaches, he told Dawg Post Reporter Josh Kendall in an exclusive interview Tuesday.

“I want everybody to stay,” Richt said. He also contradicted an AJC.com report that said senior quarterback Joe Tereshinski might start on Nov. 25 against Georgia Tech because that game is the Bulldogs’ senior day.

Tereshinski will not start, and there is no plan to play him any differently than in any other game, Richt said.

“Senior Day means a lot around here, but so does winning,” he said. “I hadn’t really thought about that dynamic, getting so-and-so in the game.”

Although the Bulldogs turned around the tone of their season on Saturday by upsetting Auburn 37-15, the question of staff changes was broached after a span of four losses in five games. Defensive coordinator Willie Martinez was the most notable target of fans’ ire despite the fact that his defense is ranked second in the Southeastern Conference this season.

However, when asked if all nine of his on-field assistants will be staying another year unless one of them leaves on his own, he replied, “Yes.”

In fact, Richt credits the makeup of his staff with helping the Bulldogs (7-4, 4-4 SEC) survive their rough patch and rebound with the victory at Auburn.

“If you’re letting guys go every year, then it’s tough for those guys to stay unified if they’re thinking, ‘Well, coach may cut me loose, I better get out of here before the ax falls,’” he said. “It’s hard to stay loyal if you don’t feel like there’s loyalty from the top.”

Richt himself wonders why so much heat has fallen on his assistants.

“You’re probab ly looking at the second-best run in Georgia football (in the last four years)and a great majority of these coaches have been here through the whole thing,” he said. “If something as simple as keeping from turning the ball over means we win two or three more games, does that mean every guy here has done a horrible job or this guy here has done a horrible job? I just don’t see it that way.”

The only assistant coach fired by Richt was Tony Pierce who was let go in the middle of the 2002 season for off-field reasons, but Richt isn’t afraid to make a move, he said.

“Everybody has to be accountable,” he said. “Everybody has a job to do, we can’t become complacent. I’m not going to say I will never let an assistant go, but I’m not going to do it to relieve pressure from me. If I believed it was the best thing to do for the program, I would do it, but I’m not going to do it to relieve pressure or to satisfy somebody’s appetite. I won’t do that.”

Look guys, who knows what the genesis of this story was, or is, but it sounds like a sincere effort on CMR’s part to show some appreciation to the seniors. I would hope that every one of them get to play in this last home game and that includes Joe T. My guess is that Joe T. himself wouldn’t want to be handed some kind of special, token, deal - particularlky if he were the only senior to be so ‘honored’. Richt is the kind of person, and coach, that knows that while this may be the final game for a group of seniors - most, or parhaps all, he recruited - but it’s not the final game home game for UGA…every year there will be another group of seniors that have contributed much and not necessarily been recognized for it, and they deserve to be. So go ahead coach, play ‘em as much as you like…but preferably after we’ve got a five touchdown lead…heh, heh, heh.

You know what’s funny? UGA thinks we actually care whether they play Stafford or Joe T. Even on the off chance we lose to UGA, we are still going to the ACC Championship game. And possibly the Orange Bowl. UGA has no influence or bearing on our season or successes at all.

Nice gesture but what could possibly be gained? At best it looks like Joe T is nothing but a charity case. At worst he screws up (fumbles) and then what? Stafford is the QB and needs every look at the defense possible. Just no upside.

I agree Spud. I think they sould fit Joe T in somewhere. Just being on the field one or two plays would mean the world to him. I love players like Joe T who dedicate themselves to GA football. Always willing to do whatever it takes to help his team win.

Well there is alot of fuss about Reggie Ball. There are articles stating that he is pretty banged up. This has been affecting his game. His rushing yards have been almost nonexistant and his pass efficency is almost half of what it was at the beginging of the season.

I have also read that Caleb King could be the next Georiga Bulldog workhorse. I cant wait to see this kid. We need another great runningback to help carry our offense to a national title.

I have also read that Caleb King could be the next Georiga Bulldog workhorse. I cant wait to see this kid. We need another great runningback to help carry our offense to a national title.

I am here to quetion Caleb a little, in his big games he was less than stellar. The kid i really want is Eric Berry. And Allen Bailey would be a huge boost on the d-line. Kids that don’t play well in big games in hs rarely play well in big games in college and lets face it, playing for Parkview and GAC, he was not playing for the Blind Sisters of GA.

Dear hateathens, If you hate athens, why in the hell are you on a UGA blog? Do you not have a normal life. Did you get rejected by UGA or a girl that attended UGA.

We have a young QB who is playing well, a coaching staff that is learning to work together, the second best defense in the SEC, and fans like me who would be loyal if we lost 8 games this year.

Hey Dawg fans,

Why aren’t all you guys getting geared up for your basketball season? Tech is. We still back our top 25 RANKED football team and at the same time cheer on our top 25 RANKED basketball team. What?? Thats right. Sorry, forgot your football team isn’t ranked and your basketball team has already lost to Western Kentucky. How does it feel to have another UGA athlete leave your sports program during the season? Guess it shows that some athletes don’t consider UGA an ‘outstanding college that all athletes want to play for’. So the rankings for in state bragging rights is something like:

1- GA Tech 2- GA Southern 3- Savannah St 4- West Georgia Military 5- Some other low ranking school 6- UGA

Can’t wait to hear how all those Dawg fans are proud of their school….

I guess it’s a nice touch to give Joe T a series against the bees in his last game. The fact remains that he is not an SEC quality QB. If his name was not Tereshinski, with a grandfather and father that played at GA, he would be playing his last game for Newberry or Presbyterian.

I think Joe T should play an entire half and if Tech isn’t up by 30, he should play the entire game. He gives us Jackets the best chance to end this 5 game losing streak, so go ahead Mark and give the guy his due…Have a heart. Whats the worst that can happen the UGA fans want to fire a coach that won 10 games last year and 7 this year?

Someone posted in here that Joe T. turned down scholarships to several other major schools so he could come to Ga. knowing he wouldn’t play because of Greene and Shockley. WHO IN THE HELL ARE THESE OTHER “MAJOR” SCHOOLS THAT WERE OFFERING HIM SCHOLARSHIPS?!?!?! WHERE R YOU GETTING THIS INFO FROM? Maybe I’m just computer illiterate but I don’t know how I would find scholarship offers of a player 5 years ago. Let’s say for arguments sake that he did turn down other “major” scholarships. Does anyone here actually think he could’ve started for any major program in the country? So he decided to sit the bench at home as opposed to driving all the way to Oxford to do it, big WHOOP! I’m sure he’s a great kid and a likeable guy but make no mistakes, we owe him nothing! You want to play him because you’re going to play all the seniors at some point for a play, fine, but let’s not make this into “we owe it to Joe T.” bullshi*! I’m sure he’ll make a fine coach someday but the boy is no starting QB and he’s 0-3 in games he’s started. WE OWE HIM NOTHING! He got to stay in his home town and wear the jersey of the team that he loves and get a free education out of it. Thanks for stopping by, goodluck to ya! Play him a play, let him wave, and get on with the game! Besides their not going to put him in a situation where it’s going to affect the outcome of the game. Hand it off, tip your hat, trot of the field, let’s get down to business.

troubleinathens- football is number 1 to us. We support our basketball team as well as our baseball team. IMO Tech is really more known for it’s basketball and baseball but since football brings in the most money of course that’s going to draw the biggest crowd. Unfortunately last year was not to good for you.

“The ranking is something like” UGA basketball 1 Bugs 0 UGA baseball 2 Bugs 1 UGA Football 1 Bugs 0

Not to mention your beloved diamond bugs decided to pull not 1 but 2 of the biggest choke jobs in College World Series history!!

C.J is the best player (and pretty much your whole team) you’ve had since Keith Brooking and he’s gonna be outta here so fast you won’t even know what hit you. So i’d enjoy the excitement while it lasts.

Why don’t we all just settle down and not worry about ‘cause it ain’t gonna happen. Did anyone of you read the cut & paste post I did back up toward the top of this? No? Well go back up and read it. Josh Kendall of Scout.com had an exclusive inter view with Mark Richt. Don’t just shout and as you go back up you’ll see what Bill Kings answer to my question about this whole deal. Read my post and we’ll all not waste any morew time on this question. We will, if we want the truth, start asking the AJC why they printed this rumor? crs, I think that Moreno definitely RS or else we would’ve seen him this year. Also, IMO I don’t think there are any juniors qualified to leave this year. Meaning after losing to Vandy and KY what game film are you gonna promote? I don’t think one Auburn game would get you an NFL contract. Although Charles Johnson might be another consideration (I hope not though). With double teams on Moses he has had a good year.

mark… are you really a bulldog fan? you have no knowledge of some players yet you scream and btch like you know everything… just FYI.. joe t was the 10th ranked quarterback (by rivals) coming out of high school… *please don’t jump to conclusions and say that high school ratings don’t mean anything because i already know that… instead i’m just trying to show you that this kid had some other options

i apologize as i don’t remember all the schools that were recruiting him.. but i do know that auburn extended an offer…

my point being… here is a guy that had options .. but he chose to come to play for the dawgs… why? because he has always been and will always be a dawg.. i sat in front of the guy a life insurance class… and he’s one of the most humble, down to earth guys… and from what i’ve seen he’s the ultimate team player… it was his life long dream to play for uga… finally got his chance… then was replaced by a true freshmen.. yet i have yet to hear any complaints.. or any other word from him… that kind of character should be comended and in this case rewarded… I’M NOT SAYING HE SHOULD PLAY AN ENTIRE QUARTER, HALF OR THE FULL GAME! a series folks… a series.. guy was here for five years… giving it everything he has… and SOME OF YOU HAVE A PROBLEM WITH HIM GETTING A SERIES? give me a freaking break…

mark you are a rambling moron and i must say i’m embarrassed to cheer for the same team as you..

OJ, we all know you are a prophylatic from USC. I’m sure our cheerleaders are safe from you. Have you seen them this year? YIKES!

‘zoo, CMR said early in the season that Moreno would RS because he was hazardous to our QB (apparently his blocking leaves something to be desired). I doubt they’d take off the shirt for the little left in this season. More likely we may see Sutherland line up a TB some.

Oh and those of you saying Joe Cox is our best quarterback think again. If he was our best quarterback then why did his best effort come against Colorado with nothing to lose, and then his effort against Ole Miss barely produced a first down. There is a reason Stafford is playing. But I’m sure you sit at Georgia practices everyday and watch Joe Cox play. Enough of the Joe Cox is great stuff. Let him transfer. If he does he’s going to UNC to play for Butch Davis.

gdawginkalamazoo,

when i think of the “proud” uga tradition, the first thing that comes to mind is wally butts calling bear bryant and spilling his guts.

The first thing I think of is the Harrick basketball scandal, then I think of all the thugs in the UGA athletic program. Sure every team has them, but when 1 out of every 5 recruits is arrested or academically troubled, there is something wrong with the program. All other teams have 1 out of a 100. The last thing I think of is the alcohol issues UGA has. They applaude themselves for being one of the top ten party schools. Tech fans have average sport years then an occasional top ten team. We like to boast about being in the top ten of almost every scientific degree category. UGA fans get excited when they have a top ten recruiting class in a sport or if they are one of the top ten party schools.

Priorities people!! That is why UGA is not taken seriously.

Your comments are exactly why Tech people are viewed as pompous asses.

trouble.in.athens.again, the problem with your smack talk it that YOU HAVE TO BEAT US FIRST. It is the same damn thing every year from you folks. First football then basketball then baseball. We beat you then you come back the next year with the same old same old.

The thugs in our prgram get there dope from your thugs. Must be bad stuff. Don’t start with the thugs crap either. How is that Al-Qaeda student exchange program working out for you guys?

Don’t start with the academics dumbass. Each university has excellent programs that they specialize in. You guys have engineering and we have everything else. Plus the babes. Damn your jealousy is annoying.

It must be a boring day back home way, otherwise, why is so many trees being wasted on this trouble guy? After we beat the “bugs”, I’m more interested in who me might play in a bowl game. Any ideas? I really hope we play some ranked on up the list. We beat AU, now we need to beat bugs then we win Bowl game. All 3 will have been on national TV. Guess what? Those mid-season losses will all be forgoten and with Stafford, Lumpkin and the old and new players ready to go, the talk will be about how strong will we be in ‘07. Nice thought. So, who might we play in a bowl game?

After the Bugs get the turkey knocked out of them in Athens, they’ll enter the ACC title game unranked. And with no other ACC teams in the current BCS top 15, it sets up for a lackluster game in Jax. Don’t tell that to Tech fans, who will dismiss the fact that their conference is down, nor will they recognize that their audience will be a 4th of the crowd watching UF vs FSU, and even less of a share than SC vs Clemson!

I agree with ‘zoo, when is the last time a GT men’s team beat the Dawgs at anything????!!!! Oh yes, it’s been a couple years. But the reckless rambling (feel free to pick up this moniker) continues on, as it does every year.

And speaking of monikers, following the bi-annual bloodbath in the Classic City, Mr. ‘Trouble’ may want to change his, along with his drawers! Time is running out bug-a-boos, get ‘em in while ya still can!!!!!!!!!

Question for the ‘nation: When we begin taking a knee with 3 minutes to go next week (in respect for our man Chan), would it be out of character for our fans to start chanting “ACC, ACC, ACC!” …..just a thought.

Hey Trouble, How many Tech fans will even show up in Jax for the big champinship game? 10,000 at best. Your football team is the ACC’s worst nightmare for that ball game. If Wake gets in, there might be around 20,000 total show up . Respond to that …..

Abe- I don’t remember ever saying that Joe T wasn’t a nice guy. I’m sure that since you sat in front of him in class you feel as if you’re friends and you have some connection with him and loyalty towards him. The fact is he doesn’t help us win games. There are a few guys on this team who are seniors that don’t help us win. They are there for depth reasons. Here we go again with the “if you don’t support every player and the coaches at all times then you’re not fan” crap again. The bottom line is that i’ve bee a fan of this team since before you were born and the fact that I don’t feel obligated to want to see a perennial bench warmer who is 0-3 when he’s at the helms play does not make me “not a fan!” Your “rambling moron” comment was cute but it just shows your immaturity.
