The unvarnished truth …
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Folks have been saying for some time now that Georgia isn’t a very good team this season.
Wrong.
Georgia is a VERY BAD team.
And just think, if it weren’t for Tony Taylor, it would have been worse.
Anybody in the UGA student body able to placekick a football? The position SHOULD be open after this game.
Other than that, it was your typical UGA 2006 game: poor throws, dropped balls, no blocking, interceptions and fumbles, and a defense that couldn’t get the job done.
We may have six wins, but frankly, unless fate somehow intervenes and we end up somehow upsetting one of our last two opponents, we DON’T BELONG in ANY bowl game.
More later.

…giving up 14 4th quarter points to Kentucky. Kentucky’s winning touchdown drive was made up of atleast 40 yards on the ground. They ran it right down Georgia’s throat. I think I was wrong about the coaches. Georgia has some major talent issues. They better get to recruiting FAST!

I think it is time to bench the freshman QB and give Cox a shot. I mean we are expected to lose the next two anyway, and I frankly do not feel Stafford is giving us the “best chance” to win. He has as many interceptions as his receivers have drops.Pitiful. I wish I could say there is always next year, but I am afraid there is not going to be much improvement

We may not belong in a bowl game, but we need the extra game to get ready for next year. Also, when is Stafford going to start showing SOME signs of improvement? I’ve seen nothing from him that gives me good hope for the next few years. We can’t keep calling these mistakes “freshman mistakes”. He needs to get better by the end of the year. By that I mean instead of 3 ints and one t.d, let’s get 3 t.ds and 1 int. Otherwise we will get blown out in our last two games.

The entire program needs overhauling from top to bottom. But, the loss to the KY Cats wasn’t really all that unexpected. What loss would be after losing to Vandy?? This IS a bad team. And CMR KNOWs it will be no better next year. NO OL recruited over the past several years has led to disaster. The defense is a joke. Don’t know who is at fault, but I see no real emotion from the defenders. To let KY move down the field late in the game almost uncontested and score the winning TD is pitiful. I think it was 1972 since GA lost to both Vandy and KY. Way to go guys. My feeling is that CMR will not be in coaching in three years. He will enter the ministry in some fashion. He knows he is 1-5 against the Gators, and will be 2-4 against the AU Tigers this time next week. At some point, the message will be delivered loud and clearly that not at least breaking even with the Gators and AU Tigers ain’t gonna cut it. No more backing into the SECCG. Plus, CMR is a horrible gameday coach. I refer back to Auburn last year as evidence, and Auburn in 2001. CMR is an nice, honorable man, but I don’t think he’ll ever take the ‘Dogs any further. I may be wrong, but it’s up to him to prove me wrong. Pitiful, just pitiful.

O’damn I,ve been a dog watcher for 30 years and have never witnessed a run like this, out coached and out played week after week by 2nd and 3rd rate teams.Richt is at a crossroads he must face the fact that this staff is seriously flawed. These problems started manifesting last season when tackling started getting shoddy. Here are some needs 1 a defensive coordinator who can prepare and motivate,2 an offensive line coach 3 turn the offence over to Bobo or bring someone in,Richt needs to delegate, get the right people in place and let them coach! Let’s hope he does’nt fall sick with stubburn coach syndrome many a good coach has been lost to this before.

He really hasn’t done anything this year. A kid can be an All American but until they prove themselves in College, I dont’ buy it.

We have another freshman to replace stafford who must be partially blind from all of the sacks, because he throws picks like a one legged pirate in a pick throwing contest… yeah this is what a georgia loss does to your brain.. stay away kids

The DAWG NATION has finally faced reality. Although, as a Tech fan, I am more nervous after every UGA loss. We still have to go to Athens before we can start talking trash. My dream is for the UGA vs TECH game to actually mean something.

Is this season an aberration or a sign of what’s to come?
Many of you believe Stafford was nothing but hype and that Richt needs to be fired, or shake up his entire coaching staff.
I believe there needs to be some fine-tuning… perhaps finding an OC is the best change that could happen.
I believe this year is an aberration. UGA has yet to be blown out of any game… they could have and should have won every game they’ve played this year, but have lost due to their own mistakes.
I think this year is an aberration which will make next year that much sweeter.

Dropped passes, fumbles, missed blocking assignments, no push in the DL, no depth on the OL, with the starters being average at best, overall - does not equate to a quality group. Oh did I mention the inexperience of the DB’s?
With the passes Milner has dropped this year, will cost him millions the draft. This guy is a very good blocker, his inability to catch the ball is mental, and cannot be corrected regardless of the time coaches spend with him- in all probably will not be drafted.
Stafford, is pressing because of his lack of confidence in the receivers. On each throw this has to be in the back of his mind. On each offensive play, i cringe in anticipation of what will go wrong next.
Some of the above may be coaching, my opinion these guys are not over achievers nor do they have exceptional talent.
At the beginning of the year was of the opinion of either and 8/10 win year.
The ship should be righted next year-hopefully.
Remembe Thomas Davis and David Pollack were signed as complimentary players. Davis’ only other offer was from Grambling. Pollack was signed as a FB,redshirted, played defensive tackle as a RS Freshman(started 3 games), switched to DE as a sophmore- well you know the rest. 5* players are overrated, when signing look for the guy with the “mega” motor. These are the people that ensure that you win, based upon sheer determination. This is what Georgia has too have.
Hope the grammar police is not in attendance-so frustrated cannot see straight, nor do i want to!!!!!

In my world making a mistake isn’t a problem but doing the same thing and expecting a different result is a problem. CMR owes the fans an explanation of what is wrong and what he is going to do to correct the problem. There are issues. At what point must Stafford show improvement? At what point must the defense hold a lead in the forth quarter? At what point is a coach held responsible for continuing to throw the ball to Milner? CMR is the caoch for UGA but now is the time to step up to the plate and to stop confusing potential with results.

Let’s face it, not having a back-up kicker has hurt us. Okay, not having an offensive line hasn’t helped either. Okay, a non-pourous defense would benefit the team too.

Where are all those UGA fans with their six-pack predictions? I remember everyone counting Vandy and Kentucky as sure wins. You believed you would have trouble against Florida and Auburn(but would win one of those) but would beat Tech for sure. Well, you guys have been wrong about everything so far. Auburn, who isn’t that great anyway, will roll over. You will make it look good against Tech in the first quarter like Miami did, but you will lose. Face it, 6-6 is the best you will do this year. Also, that does not guarantee a bowl this year. There may be as many as 6 or 7 6-6 teams from many of BCS conferences. A lot of analyst believe 7 wins is the new standard for a decent bowl. I don’t think many bowls would like UGA as a choice.
It may turn out to be lucky for you guys not to go to a bowl. You would then have a 6-7 season, unless they let you play Colorado or Ole Miss again so you can win by a point! Ha Ha Ha Ha. UGA is to the SEC as Duke is to the ACC. Easy win…..

Coaching mistakes have to be blamed for this lose!! Lumpkin had 70+yds first half and only 3 carries 2nd half, WHY? Doesn’t the coaching staff want a 100yd rusher in a game? CMR has to help Stafford or Cox (play him some) with some wise play selections and pounding/running the ball the old SEC tradition. Poor clock management on last UGA touchdown drive and poor defense on UK last drive, AWFUL. Miss 2 field goals and 1 extra point, WHY? Find a field goal kicker or go for 2 PAT!! CMR MUST MUST make some coaching changes or he will be able to except the FSU or U. Miami job. Come CMR you are a better leader than we have seen this year. Hire some new coaches, Def. Cord., Off. Line Coach, Off. Cord. USE Lumpkin until he request a rest or get both running backs in the game together. VERY VERY DISAPPOINTED IN THE DAWGS but still a Dawg fan.

The Dogs will rise again. Be a fan, support the team or get off and stay off the bandwagon. So what if we got beat by the cellar dwellers of the SEC. Some years it’s gonna happen. It boils down to chemistry and we don’t have it this year. Things will get better. Our national champion in 1980 wasn’t expected to do much and they won it all. Next year we will not be ranked high to start the year but if the chem is there, watch out. Go Dogs, play hard and keep your heads up. I support you win or lose.

It’s hard to take these so-called freshman QB mistakes when all over the SEC freshmen QBs are shinning. Today it’s Tennesssee’s Crompton. Mustain at Ark. Tebow at FL. They seem to be improving and taking a real leadership position. Meanwhile Stafford still looks as green as ever. Coaching? Maybe. Maybe the kid just can’t get it done at this level. Time to give Cox another shot. Or maybe that other QB we’ve all forgotten about, Blake Barnes.
We are the laughing stock of the SEC. Top notch recruiting classes year after year should NEVER result in this kind of year! It’s time for MR to either get his act together, get fired up and coach like it matters (and that means firing some assistants, hiring some with fire in their bellies, kicking some player’s butts, and raising some holy hell in the locker room) or move on to the ministry.

In times like this it boils down to coaching. The players no longer believe. The rest of the season is gong through the motions. It is most obvious on the defense. Kentucky ran up and down the field…need there be any more evindence presented to prove Martinez doesn’t have what it takes and if we want any more blue chip defenders we will have to have a coach they will want to play for, cause it aint this one…The defensive schemes have proven time and time again they don’t work. The type of defense played does not work, the style of play does not work. In tackle football the man with the ball is supposed to be tackled. Our defense hasn’t figured that out yet…why? Because the coach doesn’t teach it.
These next two games should be used to get ready for next year…a year without Martinez.

I know the ACC had a few games this year that looked like it was down, but face the stats, the ACC has better offensive and defensive teams than the SEC has. I can’t see a powerhouse team in the SEC at all. I will admit Tennessee looks to be the better complete team than anyone there, with Arkansas looking like a competive team. But the rest is a joke. Florida is so overrated. They are not blowing anyone away with that makeshift offense. Alabama and UGA continue to show they can’t compete with anyone. Miss St, Vandy, Ole Miss, Kentucky? Give me a break. Even SC with the ol’ Ball Coach can’t field a good team. They barely beat Wofford! LSU can beat the heck out of the worst teams in the nation like UGA can (thats why the SEC schedules cream puffs…to pad the win-loss column) but LSU has only scored 13 points total against decent teams in their two losses. The SEC is the biggest joke in college football. They always cry when it comes to playing each other, saying they can’t win the NC, but funny how when a team goes undefeated, the are left out of the National Championship game (remember Auburn?). Also I like the way the SEC competed in the Bowl games last year with Missouri kicking SC to death and West Vir mauling the Dawgs.
Take a look around and see the writing on the wall. the SEC is in a down year. Worse than the ACC who is also down. You have to admit the ACC would wipe the floor against the SEC, just like GT did against Auburn the last two years. Like Clemson does against SC…so on and so forth…get over yourselves…….

This is where we see if Richt is truly maturing as a head coach. For the first time, he needs to fire an assistant coach…and one who’s a friend. Willie Martinez is just not very good, and Richt MUST realize it. Richt has to learn his loyalty is to the program and not coaches. He’s given Martinez his chances, and he’s just not making it. In addition, I would hope he’ll take another look at an offensive coordinator—Richt isn’t too good in that position either. He’s the man we want running the program…greeting mamas and promising to take care of their boys. Heck, he’s even the guy we want coaching up the QB’s as he did at FSU, but he’s not the guy want running the offense. He’s had his chance, too…

Ouch! We lost to everyone in the East except S. Carolina. Let’s be fair. Richt’s a good coach. Let’s not get stupid and run him off. Honestly, the Dawgs failure is a little bit of coaching, a thin offensive line, a freshman quarterback, a tough division, and a little bit of bad luck with injuries at key positions. We can’t win it all every year, and its only a sport. That said, we should have a much better year next year. Look what happened to Michigan and Tennessee after their down years. Sometimes it takes remembering what it is like to lose, to remember how to win again.

hey idiot, err reality check, or whatever your name is. my comment was actually more of a knock on our coaching staff than anything. the reality is mr. reality check that the rosters of perennial super bowl contenders like the steelers and the patriots are littered with bulldawgs, just as are the pro bowl rosters. and then when you check all of the other decent playoff contenders, you see UGA players make steady productive contributions to their teams. the fact that the bengals got the playoffs for the first time last year when they added pollack and odell was not just a coincidence to me. You want to kill Odell, that is fine. he is self-destructive enough to warrant that. But to go after Pollack who is really one of the most selfless guys around, well I have no idea what to even say to you about that. calling you classless or anything like that would not do you justice. all i can say is that you better make your peace with god for that comment because the big man upstairs heard you say that.

TO YOU TECH BOYS
I will repeat. Stop writing on our boards when we vent. I have no doubt that the Dawgs are still one of the top teams in the nation. We had a few plays not go our way, and the refs have been out to get us it seems. Take those away and we are 8-2 or 9-1. We should be in the National Championship picture. Heck the way Ohio State and Michigan played today, we could easily beat them. The SEC is the top conference in the country, nerds! The only reason we lost a few games is because they are interconference games. We haven’t lost to any outsiders! We could still beat any other conferences teams. I can’t remember the last time we lost to anyone outside of the SEC. You Techie nerds are so jealous. You have never beat any SEC teams when you play them, let alone us! Ha Ha Ha…nerd loser! When was the last time you techies won a National Championship?? HUH?? can’t hear ya?? It sure wasn’t in 1980 because we won that one nerds! Go Dawgs!! You wish you could have had an undefeated season like we had then. You haven’t even come close since what, 1950 something?? Ha ha.
Go Dawgs!! 8-4 will be easy. Bowl games here we come!

The David Pollack comment had better not come from a Tech fan. I hate the dawgs, but Pollack is a classy guy. He had a neck/spine injury jerk! Thurman is a thug, but Pollack is a great guy. ESPN did a story on him a few years ago at UGA and I was glad he was recruited by the Bengals. I wish he would have gone to Tech! Great guy! I wish him a speedy recovery.

Hey bigdawg88
Fans of other teams shouldn’t post here because you say so? As Paul Hamilton pointed out it’s no wonder other fans come here and rub it in, because UGA fans suck.
UGAg fans are the most delusional fans I’ve ever come across in college football.
You still live in 1980 with your single national title.
One subpar season this year and you idiots want to run Mark Richt out of town. Let me humnly point out that until Richt came to Athens UGA’s last SEC title was in 1982. He’s won 2 SEC titles in his brief tenure.
Keep running your yaps and when he leaves to take the FSU job at some point you’ll see what kind of head coach you wind up with…UGA isn’t the primo coaching job you morons seem to think…because other coaches don’t want to deal with the delusional fan base as is, and when you run Richt off even fewer will want the job.

Can someone explain to me why you relegate a RB who has gained 70 yards in the first half of a ballgame to 3 carries in the second half? I am beginning to think that Coach Richt has something personal against Lumpkin. Or is it that Georgia’s current head coach doesn’t know how to adjust to coaching a team with no passing game? It seems he has given away this season to stubbornly follow his pass happy ideaology. No wonder the defense is so bad … They keep being put back onto the field!

FIRE WILLIE MARTINEZ!!!!!!! Plese read and see if you agree We couldn’t get a defensive stop today to get the win! We couldnt get a defensive stop against Vandy to win. By the way Vandy has done NOTHING on offense since playing us!! We had a huge lead against UT and the defense couldnt get any stops! See a pattern!! It isn’t like we don’t have talent on defense. Charles Johnson, Quentin Moses, Tony Taylor, Paul Oliver and even possibly Jeff Owens will probably be playing on Sundays!!

The sportswriters are brain-dead. Stafford’s interceptions had no impact on today’s loss and resulted in zero points for KY. They had no impact on the other 3 losses. He has 9 interceptions in 5 games but they have resulted in zero points to the 4 teams that beat us [he gave up 14 pts in the Miss State win] Today, the defense gave up a game-winning-drive again, just like Vandy, after Stafford engineered the go-ahead touchdown. The numbers do not lie. The defense has given up 144 points in the last 5 games [29 pts/game] and we have lost 4 out of 5 games. In our first 5 wins, the defense only gave up only 24 pts total. How can you ever win if you are giving up 29 pts a game. If it keeps up, the bleeding will never stop. The offense is scoring enough points [24 per game] to be 8-2 or 9-1 if the defense had not fallen apart. The defense has been invisible, except for the FL game when they stepped up & showed a heart beat. Too little, too late. Don’t blame this on Stafford. If you want Cox and T to play, their talent is desperately needed on defense.

Let’s stop calling for wholesale changes. We have had a great team since Richt came on board and will be great again. You can’t win 10 games every year (like Richt has done the previous five years). I love the DAWGS win or lose and they don’t have to go to the SEC championship every year to earn that love. Richt hold your head up high, you’re a h3ll of a coach. DAWGS hold your head up high, you’ve been beaten by better teams and that’s o.k. too. GO DAWGS!!!

I hope the majority of you are under 12, otherwise there is no excuse for the childishness. The homophobia is ridiculous and the nanny, nanny, boo-boo your-team-sux stuff is really getting old. Let’s talk football without all of the redneck hyperbole. I lived in Georgia for the majority of my adult life (from college on) and moved to Southern California two years ago and when I read this stupid, classless sh*t, I am glad to be gone. Stop reinforcing the redneck stereotype.
I was very angry about the loss today. I cannot believe it has gotten this bad. I truly hope that Martinez and Eason are gone after this season. Personally, I would love for Van Gorder to come back. He understood how to motivate players. He would have ripped several of those players a new rear end by now. I think MR is a good coach but he has lost control of his team. Finish the drill is over. Find another way to motivate. Scream, get angry, throw something. Show the players that you care about winning.

HT,
ummm, 12 interceptions simply does not cut it. even if points were not directly scored when his passes were intercepted, that stat can be misleading. because what turnovers do is change momentum and field position. the other team gets the momentum when you turn it over. your teams loses morale when you turn it over. the field position is ultimately, however, the big thing. if staff throws an interception at our 45, the other team advances to the our 37 but no further, then punts, and then we go three and out and advance the ball to say the 15 yard line or the 27 or 33 yard line and then we punt again, the other team gets good field position again, an extra 20- 30 yards they would not have otherwise have had, thus putting our already weak defense into a compromised situation where they have less field to defend. and this pattern goes on and on where the other team has better field position until either team eventually scores or the other team turns the ball over. SO, the point is that you can make the simplistic statement that stafford’s turnovers have not DIRECTLY led to scores on most occasions but they have certainly altered momentum, killed out battle to win field position, and have repeatedly placed our weak defense into compromises situations because of the poor field position they are given

We knew going in this year that it was likely to be a down year. Shutting out South Carolina and the Ole Ball Coach at SC raised our expectations a bit much. No one should be happy with losses to Vandy or Kentucky, but I’m willing to stick with CMR and let him figure it out. Last time I checked, he had 3 more SEC Eastern Division wins, 2 more SEC championships, and One more Sugar Bowl victory than Donnan and Goff combined. He’s an adult, and a pro. He knows improvement is expected next year. He’s drawing down a bit of the good will he’s built up, but I for one will give him the chance to fix it his way, whatever that may be.

One last comment from DAWGFAN. TEAMS play solid football and win games. We don’t have a TEAM this year, we have talent and position players and that’s about it. I don’t see this group of players hanging out and spending their non-football time together. This season will be great motivation for what not to do next year and we’ll be back. Hang in there DAWGS fans, there’s always next year.

I love the Dawgs good and bad but what is going on with this team. The defense has fallen apart. I think that has to do with the coach. Willie Martinez is not the right guy for the job. With the talent they have they should be great. On the other side of the ball. Mark Richt needs to give the play calling to some one else, maybe even change the offense to match the talent on there team.

The writer who said he believes CMR will be out of coaching in 3 years and in the ministry hit the bullseye. I’ve been calling him Granny Richt for years. He’s a sweet guy, great minister..but A VERY LOUSY FOOTBALL COACH. There is absolutly no fire in the him. How he bumbled his way to 3 SEC championship games is beyond me. Green, Pollack and Shockley provided some very strong leadership over the past 4 years but they’re long gone. Martinez IS NOT the problem. The defense played great until we started turning it over 5 times a game. How could any defense survive that?? The problem is CMR’s inability to motivate and his love affair with some over-hyped kid out of Texas who is possibly the worst quarterback to ever play at Georgia. Losing to Vandy and UK in the same season is as bad as it gets..no wait, we still have to play Tech. It could get even worse.
By the way, I hate to tell those of you who have now decided this is a rebuilding year..Stafford is toast. Whatever potential the kid had has been destroyed by CMRs insistance on playing him this year. I predict once this season is done, he’ll never play another down for UGA.
I’ve followed UGA footbal for 40 years..went to my first game in Sanford Stadium in 1964..there wasn’t even an upper deck then..spent rainy nights on the tracks with all the crazies..was in the press box for Herscel vs. Rogers..lived through the post Jan Kemp / Ray Goff years..and I’ve NEVER been this disappointed in a Georgia team.

SO, does that mean even though i am not a lawyer, i should not have some criticism of my lawyer if i end spending 10 years in prison or if my ex-wife gets everything in a divorce? if my kid can’t read or write in the 3rd grade, does that mean i should not criticize my kid’s teacher because i have never been a teacher? i’ve never been a politician, so i should not critize politicians when things are a mess? i’ve never been a police officer, so when a bunch of cops go rodney king on some guy, i am not allowed to criticize? my garbageman has not picked up my trash for the last 5 days, but i’ve never walked a mile in the garbageman’s shoes, so i should not criticize? some company created a malfunctioning car with brakes that failed causing me to total my car and kill a pedestrian, but i’ve never owned a car company, so i guess i can’t criticize a car company owner according to your pansy @ss logic. get a clue dude. that is one helluva weak excuse for CMR you are throwing out there

Good post “grow up”. Some of these blogs are idiotic and annoying to sort through. Also agree that with you about the defense. There is a lack of emotion. It would really help to have someone on the staff go into the locker room (kinda like tubberville did in their florida game) and fire up the team. Last year that was VanGorder, now we don’t have that presence. Did anyone see Les Miles in the halftime interview today, he was p**. You could tell he was going to go in the locker room and get everyone fired up. We need that desperately.
Richt has proven he is a good coach. But something has changed the chemistry of the team. I suspect it is complacency and the loss of VanGorder.
I still have faith that this will be turned around next year. But it just seems nothing will change until there is an attitude change. I fear that this season is going to hurt our recruiting and then end up having a very long term effect. If we can just get fired up and go out and play with reckless abandoned on defense we might be able to pull an upset next week.
This would at least show that our program has some signs of life.
We need to stop shaking our heads and looking confused. We seem so flat, its almost like we just expect to beat these teams because we’ve done it in the past. Now that those expectations have been brought down, it is time to play like we have something to prove—-No doubt we do.

Sitting here listening to the 5th quarter show a caller ask if UGA had a tailback like Hershel would CMR run him like Dooley did? They said NO because that type of back doesn’t fit into CMR’s offensive scheme. Sometimes smart and wise coaches adapt and offense to the type of players that they have. Ex. Bear Bryant changed his offense to the players ability Joe N. pass run the wishbone if you don’t have a passer and he was successful. Today’s college coaches have a offense they want to run and will run regardless and will not adapt if it doesn’t fit the players they think they have recuited. CMR look at the players ability and what they do best and adapt to use their ability, 2 good running backs, 1 good fullback and another above average fullback, offensive line that does a fairly good at run blocking, receivers that haven’t caught too well, freshman QB that has thrown at least 3 int. per game. ADAPT to your players abilities CMR, and get a new wild and crazy Def. Cord. with some emotion. Def. is an emotional and wild Coach Mart. isn’t wild and crazy, Was Erk and was VanGroter and is Mickey.

Hey “mad dawg” you make a great point. My point isn’t that you can’t criticize. My point is that the guys posting comments on this site aren’t going to fix anything. What our team needs is for a helluva coach to right the ship. I think we have that in Mark Richt. NO ONE can say the man isn’t a great coach. Wouldn’t it suck to see him go elsewhere and take their team to greatness rather than give him a pass on a bad year? We lose to Florida every year because Florida is DAMN GOOD at home.
I agree that some things need to be done differently but firing Martinez, hiring an OC, setting fire to Stafford, and revamping the entire defense isnt’ it. What needs to be done differently WILL BE DONE. Mark Richt isn’t going anywhere in three years (I realize that’s not your comment), he will still be here when my children are adults!!!

mad dawg I agree that turnovers cause loss of momentum and puts stress on the defense. However, the ones making simplistic statements are the sportswriters who don’t go to the game. They see 3 interceptions and automatically print Headlines that blame the loss on that. 2 of the interceptions today were at the end of the first half and did not change the score from 14-10 and the last one was a desperate attempt to save a game. The key point of the game was when GA was down 17-14 with 8 mins to go and Stafford engineered a 83 yd scoring drive and ate up 5 ½ mins of time to put us ahead 20-14. Then Andy Bailey missed the Extra Point for his 7th missed points for the day [2 other missed FGs] All the defense had to do was stop a 70 yd drive over 11 plays to win the game with 3 mins 40 sec left in the game. Instead KY goes 70 years on 11 plays eating up chunks of turf at 6, 11, 5 , 14, 9, 6, 7, 8, 1 [for a 1st down], 3 [for a TD] leaving only .59 seconds. Stafford only had 59 seconds to go 63 yds and the odds of an interception is likely. This loss lies at the feet of the DEFENSE, not Stafford.

UGA is having a bad year but Richt better stem the tide before his guys get mental and lose confidence going into next season. It looked like a hiccup at first but has since proven to be a stomach virus. UF appears headed towards years of domination in the SEC again so UGA may be back on the doorstep again. mad dawg wrote “SO, does that mean even though i am not a lawyer, i should not have some criticism of my lawyer if i end spending 10 years in prison or if my ex-wife gets everything in a divorce? if my kid can’t read or write in the 3rd grade, does that mean i should not criticize my kid’s teacher because i have never been a teacher? i’ve never been a politician, so i should not critize politicians when things are a mess? i’ve never been a police officer, so when a bunch of cops go rodney king on some guy, i am not allowed to criticize? my garbageman has not picked up my trash for the last 5 days, but i’ve never walked a mile in the garbageman’s shoes, so i should not criticize? some company created a malfunctioning car with brakes that failed causing me to total my car and kill a pedestrian, but i’ve never owned a car company, so i guess i can’t criticize a car company owner”
Actually mad dawg, you’re examples are asinine and I can’t let it slide. By you’re examples you wouldn’t go and talk to the teacher, you would go to a blog site and “group complain” about it. You wouldn’t fire the attorney, you would go to a blog site and “group complain” about it. You would address any of the issues you mention by dealing with the people involved, not by blogging a website.
I only stumbled accross this while reading online about the game because I was away for the day with my wife and children. This is lame, you’re opinions are posted on a website that the Bulldogs will never see or read.
I am outta here but I hope this methond of venting gives you what you need it to. It hurts me to see the DAWGS lose too but I don’t think “group complaining” on this website will make it any better for me.
Don’t forget what the DAWGS need now more than ever…THE SUPPORT OF THEIR FANS!!!

Dawgfan I agree that CMR hasn’t had a Hershel Walker while he has been at UGA and won’t ever have a Hershel Walker because CMR isn’t going to give the ball to a running back 30 to 40 times a game, that’s not his offensive beliefs. That’s why Buford’s D. Walker wasn’t recuited at UGA and went to the Fighting Irish and that’s why Lumpkin gained 80 yds. in 1st half and only got 3 touches of the ball in the 2nd half. I have coached high school football for 24 years (NO that not like college coaching not even close)but I learned that the successful high school coaches (who can’t recuit special players) must change their offenses to match their type of players they have from years to years. If you don’t have a QB that can throw you don’t run a shotgun and if you don’t have a tailback then you don’t run the I formation, if you have a 160 lb lineback you had better try to hide him from the lead blocker and let him make plays. High school coaches have to play with what they have and change offenses and defenses to fit their players. College coaches don’t change to fit players, but recuit players to fit their system and sometimes, just sometimes those recuits don’t fit the system either but college coaches DON’T change. Coach Richt is a good coach and a good man but may need to adapt or change some things to fit his players if they are being successful.

Coach Richt won’t run the ball but 10 times per game, you are a 1st round draft pick at any other school but Georgia. God forbid you fumble the ball, you will be run out of town and labeled a thug!

OK for those ragging Matthew Stafford and hailing the play of other frosh QB’s Mustain, Tebow, and Crompton —- look at what the players have done and wake up.
Yes, Stafford has made some poor decisions, but he was 20-32 against Miss St with 5 dropped passes. He was 16-28 today with 4 dropped passes. The kid is hitting 55-60% completions — that is great for a Freshman.
As for the “Gods” — MItch mustain has been BENCHED for Casey Dick by Arkansas, because of Mustains Mistakes — basically 3 INTERCEPTIONS to Fla International last week.
Tim Tebow - Meyer doesn’t even allow him to throw the ball. He runs One play — Tim tebow runs to the left. That’s it.
Crompton??? Two long bombs today — other than that, 9-22 and he made the mistakes that cost Tennessee the game today.
Notice a trend?????? All 4 have either lost games, Been benched or are not even PLAYED because they make mistakes.
WAKE UP, and mark my words — Matthew Stafford will be A 4 year starter, he will be an all-American, and he will be mentioned if not win the Heisman.
NOW - As for Willie Martinez and the rest of the Defensive coaches — update your resumes LOSERS! No tackling, p** poor coverage, and terrible simplistic schemes. UGH UGH UGH
Also, let Ely-Kelso kick, he can;t be any worse than SHANKS Bailey.

HT,you’ve made the point about Stafford better than I could. MS didn’t lose that game, no, he took us down field to win the game. He didn’t fumble the ball, no he threw a completed pass and Railey got crushed and fumbled. Larry Munsun hit the nail on the head when he said that Ky. was attcaking the edge just the way Colorado had. I’ve said all I need to say except stay with Stafford and anyone who hasn’t seen a quantum leap on his part I’m not going to try and change their mind

Does that not also mean that you can not come on here and criticize us because you are not some one who does this sort of thing because you are not a so-called “group complainer” like the rest of us? go to bed, hypocrite. maybe when you wake up, you will make sense and have some logic to you. it might have to start with looking in the mirror, either before you go to bed or when you wake up, and realizing that you are the biggest hypocrite.

Just in from the Plains, where Auburn played sloppy offense and so-so defense. I missed the UGA game and was surprised of the outcome. I know UGA has bought some teams worst than Auburn into Jordan-Hare and won. We will have to play real solid to win especially offense. Auburn is not as good as placed, just a mighty7 good job of coaching..Trey Blackmon will be another Teako Spikes..best LB at Auburn in many years.

Whew! You guys are really getting too worked up.
I remember a certain Dawg team that went 6-5. They lost to South Carolina. Hell, they barely beat Ole Miss (by 3). They got their butss handed to them by Auburn.
The coach? Vince Dooley.
The year? 1979.
I think we all know what happened the next year.
Relax guys. I’m not saying a National Championship is in the cards next year (although if anyone can find the 2007 equivalent of Herschel, that’d be great). I’m not even saying a SEC championship is in the cards. All I’m saying is we’re a year removed from our last SEC championship.
Our team is youngish, and young guys make mistakes and are inconistent. Honestly, has there been a game this year where we just couldn’t compete?
So, again, relax. Have a drink of your favorite beverage. Cheer for your dawgs and don’t give up on ‘em. And stop with the “Fire this guy. Fire that guy” routine. If you’d like to do a better job, quit your day job and start working your way up the coaching ladder. In 20-30 years, maybe some drunk guy will be demanding that your kids have the sad Christmas because some 18-23 year olds forgot how to tackle one afternoon.

I’m kind of glad we lost. Maybe these bandwagon morons will get OFF. Fire Mark Richt? Are you three-quarters stupid. Florida, UT, Vandy and such deserve to gloat, as that will make it better when we beat them next year. And to the guy who “statistically” show that the ACC is better than the SEC: If Weak Forest is your best team, you are not a powerhouse conference. The SEC is soon to have 4 teams in the top ten (Auburn, UF, LSU, Arkansas) while the ACC will have ZERO (?). Hopefully Coach can pick up the pieces, pull an upset, and get us into the postseason with 7 or 8 wins. Go Dawgs!

Stafford’s interceptions have had no impact in UGA’s losses? What are you 7 years old? Are you stupid? We have the ball on the Kentucky 2 yard line just before the half, Stafford throws an interception… no impact on the loss? If we score the T.D. versus giving up the ball we win. Even CMR admits that you don’t win games against ANYONE turning the ball over 3-4 times a game. He said that tonight after the game, so the “brain-dead” sportswriters are just quoting the head coach. If you think that an average of 3 int’s per game does not impact the outcome, you should pull the covers over your head and swallow the rest of those sleeping pills bro, cause you are out of it. I don’t mind someone giving support to their favorite player, but let’s keep it real. What’s it been, 12 interceptions in 4 games? But they had no impact in the losses? No wonder people think UGA fans are stupid…
The good news is: If the kid will learn when to throw it and when to throw it away, he’ll get better. God knows, he can’t do anything BUT get better at this point. The biggest surprise to me about Stafford is his uncanny ability to tuck and run for the first down when he needs to. He does not appear to have that quality when you look at him, but somehow he gets it done. If we can get him some blocking next year I think we will be much better than we are, but I sure wish we had a break out receiver. Maybe someone will step it up.

BigDawg88…get a life. You should see the crap your fans come and put on the Tech blogs everyweek. I must admit that it seems to be a little less this week. Wish you could go look at the archives. Then come back and apologize. I would never have posted on this blog except for your opening your big pie hole.
I bleed white and gold…would pull for the Taliban against UGA in a tittly winks game, but you guys should lay off Richt. He is one of the best things that has happened to UGA. He is a man of great character.
And if it is true that his wife is fighting cancer and you “fans” are kicking him at a time like this…it just shows the character of the DawgNation. What is it 2 or 3 SEC championships in four years? Give me a freaking break. You redneck UGA fans think that you deserve to be on top every year.
NEWSFLASH! THE WORLD DOES NOT REVOLVE AROUND uga FOOTBALL. You will have down years no matter who you hire.
Geez, I remember hearing from dawg fans how this was one of the top five coaching gigs in the country…by whose standards? GET OVER YOURSELVES.
YOU WILL FINISH 6-6 THIS YEAR. If you are lucky you will keep Richt as a coach for the next 5 years and will be right back in the mix for another 1, 2, or even 3 SEC Championships.
Believe it or not, there are other programs in the Southeast (SEC & ACC) that are just as deserving of winning as yours. They have coaches of great character and some of not so great, they have beautiful campuses too, they have beautiful co-eds too, they play for championships too. You don’t have the corner on the market in any of those areas.
Get a life and support your team and take your ribbing from your friends that are just as loyal to their schools (Tech, Auburn, Florida, and even Vandy & Kentucky). You can dish it out, but you can’t take it. GROW UP!

Please look to the tape of the games from the distance (to see the overall picture). Time to fire Willie Martinez and hire an offensive coordinator. We can’t stop Kentucky, Vandy, ole Miss, Miss State, Colorado? Erk is rolling over in his grave! Time to see if CMR is really a good head coach and takes the necessary steps. How can Lumpkin have 73 yards in the first qtr and then only see the ball 5 more times? This is out of control and CMR is not showing much at this time. I love the guy and have enjoyed watching us improve over the last 6 years but those old little things weren’t taken care of and are now new huge things! Things have to change and now. Let’s go Dogs!

Dawg fans is this time of misery(he he he) just remember recuiting recuiting recuiting you know all those young men who now are gonna go to other schools. They have seen what fair weather fans you are plus the idiots who call for Richt to leave would have to watch another coach rebuild the recuiting base. You guys have probaby run good kids off to the up and coming programs like Vandy,Kentucky and old Miss. You can count on the fact that any recuit Florida wants this year they get,Auburn will march thru Georgia High Schools like Sherman marching to the sea, any cast offs South Carolina gets will look like an NFL player in 2 years and Tennessee will own the recuits in Atlanta..So Georgia fans think about how your intelligent blogs and booing of players set with that 17 year old 5 star recuit who grew up wanting to be a Dawg and now will be wined and dined by Les Miles, Fat Phil, Coach Steve and my personal favorite the Urbanator..for some reason I think copies of these blogs will be left on their doorsteps. Coach m.r. is to loyal of a man to make any changes no matter who tells him to he is to loyal to his players example playing milner on sat he should not have seen the field, if coach m.r. is that loyal to his players he will not make any coaching changes he does not want to see anyone lose their jobs he will lose his job before anyone on his coaching staff does. I am a huge fan and supporter of m.r. I am not sure if things will get better under his coaching staff, however I think nothing will change.

Look. It’s no surprise the Dogs are bad. Everybody else already knew it. They scheduled all theose “patsy” teams early in the season and came out looking like they were invincible. They weren’t fooling anybody but themselves. I blame the coaching staff for not challenging the guys early in the season. Throw a couple of good teams in their early so you can see what you have. That might have ended the QB travesty and cleared up several other problems as well. And hey, lay off the kicker. He had a bad day. Everybody is entitled to one now and then. You want to blame somebody blame the rest of the offense for not scoring and the defense for looking like a bunch of morons out there on the field. Oh, don’t forget Mark Richt. He can’t call a game to save his skin.

Funny how the comments have changed this week. All of the cheerleaders have either changed their cheer or are saying nothing! Willing to accept reality now? The Dawgs stink from coaching to the players and have gotten worse as the year has gone on. We are lucky to have won 6 games this year. No excuses for a coach in his sixth year to lose to Vandy and Kentucky. If I did my job this way, I’d be fired - what about you?

coach richt, please change your laid back attitude. it is causing your team to played laid back. find something to get them fired up like the previous coach did when he drove a steam roller to the game and told the team to steam roll the compitition. why does the defense suck? its simple. paul oliver sucks, your linebackers suck. as long as you play with 3 dlinemen, you will never put pressure on the qb.

so-called uga student, you said Hey i go to UGA and I was at the “Ritz” nightclub last night in downtown athens. Almost every UGA player was there, however i didnt see Stafford, Brannan, or T.Taylor or Joe T. but almost everyone else. Joe Cox was having the time of his life. two beers in hand, Ray gant was outta control, Danny Ware was drunk off his u know what. I said to my friend “they sure dont seem upset about the loss”. his response, “they could care less”. Thats the problem there is something wrong when a team is partyin hours after an embarrasing loss. none of these guys give a damn. and by the way Cox is so gone after this year. i got accounting with him. told me himself the game was in kentucky yesterday nitwit. you are now banned for being a lying idiot. it is okay to criticize but why do you feel the need to make things up? aren’t there eogh real things that are truthful for us to criticize this year without making things up?

+++++++++Gen Neyland, I have said all along if you read my blogs that LSU is best SEC team this year.I predicted last week on this blog they would win out.I listen to the fourth QT on TV and Crompton did a good job. The dawgs are going through a nightmare as we did in 2003 and Vols did last year. My only concern is UGA recruiting was much better the last 4-5 years than Auburn or Tenn. A down season like this is kinda questionable, but they will rebound. Auburn will have their hands full next week, if we play like we did against Ole Miss. and ARk. State. The last East Division game Auburn lost was 11/15/03, when UGA beat us in Athens. Kenny Irons did not play again this week, but should be full steam Saturday.

This is pathetic. Good Lord. Come in this blog and you would think the world is ending. Now this is coming from a life-long dawg who suffered through the Goff-Donnan years, we are having a down year. Now good teams find ways to win regardless but. What if?? (1) Couto (spelling) hadn’t gotten hurt? The missed field goals this year would have changed the games. We wouldn’t have lost yesterday nor would we have lost to Vandy. That in itself would have shut up about 75% of you on here now. Besides, with the limited scholarships how many teams carry more than one reliable FG/PAT kicker? (2) The OL situation. Many on here are saying we haven’t recruited OL so next year is toast as well. We have recruited OL but due to various reasons (grades, misconduct) several have been dismissed from the team. (3) For all the Stafford doubters—Greene was a red-shirt freshman his first year starting not a true freshman. I believe that with the receivers dropping balls, the 18-yr old Stafford feels he needs to force the ball in, make plays himself the way he knows how. Give him a little time. Next year he will have this valuable experience, know the system better, and be the QB we all knew he would be.
I firmly believe it is one down year in a run of many good ones. I mean come on, if we had blogs in 1977 (Dooly’s only losing season) would we have been calling for St. Vince’s head?
I also believe, as an earlier blogger stated, that CMR’s focus hasn’t been as sharp as it should due to Kathryn’s cancer. Tell me yours would if your wife faced life or death! There are more important things. So, for all you fair-weather, johnny-come-lately jump on the bandwagon fans, get off, we don’t need you.
Didn’t mean to get like BULLdawg and go on forever—just frustrated at all the extreme negative stuff on here. Come on guys, the players read this stuff too.

I though you were BuLLDawg, in all due respect, SEC football is big business with CEO`s HC making big dollars and carry a heavy load. If his wife was a distraction I am sure he would let other responsible coaches take the reigns. CMR would never hurt UGA in that manner and think its kinds out of place to even mention.

I’m not a fair-weather fan, so I will root for the Dawgs no matter who is coaching and who is playing. However, I am very frustrated with what has happened this year. We have too much talent to let Kentucky and Vandy beat us the way they did… a drive down the field to beat us when we had the lead…way to go defence. I know we have the talent on that side of the ball to stop people, with the exception of our startiung safties, so it has to be coaching! OK, I am officially ready to jump on the fire Willie Martinez bandwagon too. Send him out, along with Eason, Calloway, and Janek. We need some fresh blood on staff. I too would like to see some improvement from Stafford, but don’t think benching him is the answer. I think we just need to scheme to his strengths right now, all you Cox people need to realize that he is transferring after the season. Let’s go with the future, just run the ball more from the I formation and throw in some more bootlegs. My concern for next year is not Stafford, it is the OL which has been horrible. I have not seen an OL this bad at UGA in 12 years. It is a disgrace. We need some blockers bad, our RBs need to pick up blocks better, our WRs and TEs need to catch, our safties need to play more physical. Our DEs need to live up to the hype! I really cannot find a bright spot to think about for next year, with the exception of Coutu if he is back and healthy. Come on coach Richt, let’s see some changes before we let all the good will of the past 5 years slip away in the mind of the recruits.

It’s really hard to think that UGA is the defending SEC champion.. Just one season removed & we are now at the bottom of the league we ruled only one year ago..
There’s not one single positive we can take away from this season as far as Offense, Defense, Special teams (yes this season we are the definition of “riding the short yellow bus”).. every facet of our Dawgs game sux.. There are only a few individual efforts that are playing well ( Tony Taylor, Kregg Lumpkin, Brandon Southerland, That’s All Folks!! Please play that to the Warner Borthers Cartoon, too!!)) but the overall team play makes them invisible..
Many in the Dawg Nation say that we are a year away… We have been used to reloading & not rebuilding.. WOW!! this is a rebuild that needs the foundation imploded & relaid…
Talk about being the most overrated team in the SEC!! Hell we were the most overrated team in the Country.. I knew we were in trouble even at 5 - 0 because though winning, we looked terrible doing so, against the bad teams.. From 5 - 0 & # 7 to 6 - 6 (yes AU & UGA Yech will take us to the proverbial woodshed! and enjoy every minute of it..) and at the bottom of the SEC East!!
CMR has to re-evaluate EVERY piece of this team, because at this time there is not a TEAM effort.. The team is NOT prepared!! Mentally or fundamentally or coaching..
This season is the true definition of the old “Crash & Burn” theory of a team…

My, my, my how the tables have turned. GT is heading to their conference championship game, receiving commits from top tier talent on a seemingly weekly basis, and have two highly rated QB’s coming in next year’s class (but neither of them HAVE to play). Meanwhile UGA is dropping games to, gulp, Vandy and Kentucky, and has a freshman QB who is obviously color blind at the rate he throws balls to the other team. Richt should have been recruiting the QB position 3 years ago, instead of last year. He forgot to plan for the future.
You may ask why I’m on here picking at a sore spot. It’s cruel I know. But I’m here because there are still Dawg fans out there who keep thinking they’ll beat GT. I told them earlier in the week they should be more concerned with KY than talking s-h-i-t to the Wreck. But they didn’t listen and now I’m throwing it back in their faces. Funny, I haven’t heard a “51-7” reference or a “Reggie can’t count to 4” in a while. (Reggie can count to 4 by the way, 4 TD passes.)

I’m p**, mark my words all the Tech fans, Wildcat fans, Gator fans, Tiger fans when you loose a game I am going to lite your blogs up. I relate this to that buddy you have that calls you right after UGA looses and rubs it in your face like he’s funny. Wildcat fans? They probably don’t have blogs because they suck so bad, thats why they have to come on here.
Stafford 28 passes? Way to many! Richt tried to have a balanced attack yesterday with 32 runs and 29 total passes. Stafford should be asked to throw 20-25 passes a game no more. Then Lumpkin should have had the rest of thoses carries, and Sutherland should not have 5 carries. Sutherland 1-2 carries then the rest should have gone to Lumpkin. Sutherland if you want him to touch it short passes in the flats or dumps over the middle. Lumpkin should have had 20-23 carries yesterday. This would have allowed us to control the clock and would have put Stafford in manageable 3rd downs(3rd and less than 5). Richt needs to remember he is not afforded the luxury of having a tried and true QB back in the pocket. We also need to remember that. We are trying to rely on this kid to much, make Calloway and his offensive line go pound somebody and help the kid out. Mark Richt is a great man first and foremost, a good football man as well. He needs a OC to allow him to better do his job which is to manage the team.Richt shouldn ot go anywhere, perhaps CWW needs to be replaced, as well as Calloway. Richt humble yourself go outside of the program and find a bright you mind to take this program to the place it rightfully belongs(no Mike Bobo). Tech Sucks, Wildcats Suck, Gators Suck, Tigers Suck, Volunteers Suck!

This team does not deserve to go to a bowl game. Mark is looking a lot like Donnan when he continues to die with Stafford and not even look at other options. Do we only recruit on physical ability or does mental ability count? No off or def lines and Mark always looks to pass first then run no wonder we can’t beat Auburn or Florida

I have lived in Georgia since 1973 (moved here from Ohio), and am an Ohio State fan. But from the moment me moved here, I was always bothered by the arrogance of Georgia fans, so I adopted Georgia Tech as my “home” team.
One thing I have always noticed about Georgia fans is that they think it is a birth rite that their team is always the best, should be SEC champs every year, should be ranked #1, and if they aren’t, it is ALWAYS someone elses fault. Read the above blogs for proof. Can’t you people ever admit that sometimes, other teams are actually better. Last time I checked, UGA won a National Championship in 1980, but some UGA fans hold on to that like it was last year, and therefore you think that the “Dawgs” are a perennial powerhouse of college football. You continue (until this year that is) to beat up on the Vanderbilts’, Kentuckys’, Ole Miss and Miss. State teams, then throw in a few non-conference and barely Division 1 schools, but then lose to Florida, Tennessee, and Auburn. Your excuse then for a 3 or 4 loss season is that the SEC conference is so tough.
Good teams don’t whine. They prepare for the season, then they go and win!

The fact is this - CMR has NEVER coached us to a win. He has coached us to several, several Losses. Talent won those games in spite of his lousy play calling and allowing his DC to coach like a high school assitant. UGA is not a very bad team this year — They are a very LOUSY program. That is just an ignorant post. All over the SEC FR QBs are excelling? Tebow? Tebow doesn’t even have 20 attempts on the season. He is the equivalent of Brannen Southerland on 3rd and short. Mustain was benched and prior to that did little more than hand the ball off to McFadden. Crompton is in his third year at UT. Stafford has been thrown to the wolves. If the WRs and TEs had caught most of the perfectly thrown balls to them things would have been easier for the offense. Staff led us on a 92 yd TD drive to take the lead with 4 mins left. Neither he nor Cox could help the dawgs in stopping KY from driving the length of the field for a game winning TD.

My how the mighty have fallen. I am a die hard UK Fan and must admit we savored the flavor of a sweet win yesterday in Commonwealth Stadium. The funniest thing in reading your posts is all of the references to losing to lowly Vandy and UK. Vandy gave Florida one hell of a scare yesterday, so that loss does not look to bad in hindsight. UK is comprised of about 70% freshman and sophmores coming off the probation years (Thanks Alabama for bringing in the bloodhounds down in Memphis) and in no way a bad team. Last year Mark Richt had the keys to the city and this year you guys want to tar and feather him because he is an idiot. Makes me feel much better about the way many UK so called fans treat Tubby. It seems that KY is not the only state in the union that harbors an over abundance of fair weather fans that concern themselves “with what have you done for me today”.

First post ever. Likely a sign I am going insane. The Dawgs are a few fumbles and interceptions from being a contender. It certainly not as if we have been overpowered. At the exact moment we were leading TN 24-3 - what happened? All we have to do is change that. Wins over Auburn and GA Tech will mean 8-4 and a great way to end the season.
As for me, I admire all those young men on that field. They get to wear the uniform of the Bulldawg, and for that they will always be proud and I will be proud of them. So to Joe T and Matthew and all the rest that have gotten kicked around by the volunteer coaches in this blog and others - here’s to you. I know you hurt worse for the record than all those butts in the stands. Don’t mind them. Just keep on doing your best - and know that at the end of the day - you will stand tall and tell your children and grandchildren about your pride in having been one of the chosen few to actually play for the Dawgs.

I doubt anyone will read this since its so far down the list, but I do want to say a few things. As true Dawg fans we must remain committed to our team, through the good times and the bad. You don’t jump on board when we win SEC Titles and then disappear when we have disappointing seasons. Dooley went 6-5 in 1979 and then proceeded to win one National Championship, three SEC Titles, and 43 games over the next four years. This is a down year, it happens. Every major football program experiences this. What Richt has done is elevate this program from the Goff and Donnan years and has built a foundation for UGA to succeed. I think this program will continue to get better with Richt at the helm. Richt is certainly not without fault and he has some tough decisions to make with regard to his coaching staff. He will however make the right choices and continue to take UGA to the next level. Stick with your team, stick with your coach, and ride out the storm together.

I cannot believe a Tech fan thinks we should fire our coach, especially if said fan is convinced that the Bugs will prevail in the intrastate rivalry. I issue a challenge to all you Tech fans.
Last year when you were ready to tar and feather the preeminent football coach in the country, Coach Chan. We Dawgs seeing the injustice of it all, started the now legendary FANS OF CHAN and started a groundswell movement that saved Chan’s job. And what thanks did we get, none. Now Tech is set to play for the ACCC and still no thanks from the Tech fans for the vision of the FANS OF CHAN.
My challenge for you Rambling Wrecks is to start a similar club to save Mark Richt’s job. Since originality is not your forte, I propose the name MUTTS FOR MARK.
We had fun last year with the FANS OF CHAN, a fan club meeting and T-shirts. Your turn. I know a sense of humor is not a requirement or even desired in a Jacket fan but go ahead and give it your best shot.
See you guys Thanksgiving weekend.

lowcountry, I made the same statement you just post last August, when I didnt think Joe T. was the man.Lumpkin 20-25 rushes, 15-20 passes?? Hindsight is one way and other...We have problems at Auburn, no consistant offense, WR limited to big plays and complicated defense which is 7 th in the nation, but gives up too much between 20-20. CTT has done a remarkable job coaching this year, we just dont talent level everyone though, we are not rebuilding, just developing.

Bill, you are absolutely right on this one.
Georgia is a VERY BAD team, with a VERY BAD coach.
I have written extensively about my problems with Mark Richt on my own blog, so I won’t bore you with it here, especially since it is VERY BAD netiquette to post a comment longer than the piece being commented on. But the summary version is as follows:
Ray Goof could do what Mark Richt is doing this year. I would bet that Ray Goof could have done what Mark Richt did during the last five years if Florida and Tennessee had been as weak during his time as they were back in the early 00’s.

Well gang, so far my predictions are on track to become true! We BARELY beat MSU, lost to Florida, and Kentucky, just like I predicted. We will lose to Auburn and Tech. As I’ve said, 6-6 and there will be no bowl game!
This is the same story since losing to Tennesee. Poor coaching, no defense, no offense, handless receivers and an ineffective quarterback. The only differnce is that then everyone was blaming Joe T! Now it seems that everyone has realized that Joe T wasn’t the problem!
I’m sick and tired of hearing about a learning curve for a freshman! Stafford apparently hasn’t learned a thing all year! He’s averaging 3 picks per game and fumbling the ball! I don’t see Mustain having a great deal of problems! Tebow seems to be holding his own. Is it a coicidence that you’ll probably see Florida and Arkansas in Atlanta? What happened to our freshman sensation!?!
If we wanted to give Stafford experience, we should have ran a rotation like we did with Greene and Shockley! Anyone by chance remember how Shockley did his Senior year…on his own? We won the SEC. Now we have an inexperienced QB who isn’t learning anything and now WE are the bottom dweller!
We deserve to be where we are. We are a joke and it is sickening!

If Auburn wins out and ARk. goes to SEC title game, we will go to Orange Bowl(At Large Bid) and probably play ACC champs(Tech, WF or Maryland), Ark wins goes to Sugar Bowl playing either Notre Dame or Louisville(if not in the nc game).I don`t think Ark can beat Tenn. and LSU, so you never know. The West Division is tough this year…1. Ark. LSU tie #3. Auburn #4. Florida #5. Tenn. cuz, I think UGA will be ready to if CMR rolls some heads and get some fire under their butts. Yeah War, hard for me to get drunk enough to take the game this year at that time slot. I hope it is like Auburn-UGA games of old, but I aint holding my breath.
Thanks for your concerns, everyday is a step to feeling better. I hope to be recovered enough to go to Athens for the Tech game, though I doubt I will be able to make it to the game. I will just hang out with my new and old brothers at my frat house. Always good to see old and new friends.

Great analogy to the Titanic. As the ship goes down, the band plays on. The Redcoats are one constant in this season of our discontent. Give the band some love.

Sad how this season has turned Dawg fans against Dawg fans. But what I read is nothing compared with the infighting that went on for years among Bama fans, Auburn fans and - yes, Gator fans. It is the unwillingness to accept mediocrity that makes great teams. Just ask the coaches of those great teams. But according to some of you, if a Dawg fan vents his frustration over embarrassing losses, we are somehow traitors! I hope the Dawgs come back bigtime next year. But the fact is they’ve gotten worse as this year has gone on and I see nothing to indicate hope for improvement.

H T, jbirdawg and Ward along with a few others. Staffrod isn’t the problem and we should stick with’em. QB coaching is what Bobo is suposed to be doing. The last int. was horrible but don’t forget he led us on long scoring drive, putting every ball where it should have been. No excuses, he need to keep working hard and he will. Also noticed when the “D” has put us in position for a short field scoring drive, he’s produced. I wish that we had gone for the TD as opposed to trying a FG both times yesterday. Stafford also picked up 1st downs running the ball. No, there’s a lot more wrong on this team than Matthew Stafford. We’ll all see if MR will make some hard decisions about the coaching staff. Question; what part of receruiting does the “OL” coach play?

Or are you simply an uneducated redneck that can not think of an intelligent response? Not to worry, loser, football season is almost over for you. Then you can look forward to basketball and the feeling of Deja Vu when UK smacks that a* for you all over again.

To those people saying that UGA has some major talent issues…they have been ranked in the top 10 in recruiting the past 5 YEARS!!! And right now this year they are currently ranked third. So do not blame the talent because it is there, but rather blame it on the lack of leadership because of all the inexperience on the field. Give them 1 or 2 years and Georgia will be right back in the thick of the SEC championship hunt.

What happened in 1980 ? Most of us were not here then. I remember my great grandfather said that UGA did something special that year. Some guy named Hershel Walker was a great player either just before or just after WWII and Herman Talmadge. Boy those must have been great days. If any of you are old enough to tell me about them I would appreciate it. Has anything worth remembering happened since then ?

We cant win a spring game right now. I quit. Wake me up when we get a real coach!!! F U Richt. F U Martinez. F U Millner. F U Innman. Richt may get a new OC but it will probably be Mike Shula. Hell, he would be an improvement.

OK, I’m gonna be perfectly honest here; I don’t know what to think right now. I knew that sooner or later we would go through some growing pains of some kind. I knew that it’s hard to get up for every game every week and that we would slip here or there. I knew that playing w/ a low-talent QB (senior or not) that we would drop a couple of games this year, and I also knew that playing a young true-frosh QB would also cost us a game or two, but I never imagined we would fall this far this fast. It’s not just the QB’s. It’s the ENTIRE team! EVERY coach, D-fence, WR’s, O-line, kicker(s), game plan’s for every game. They are all terrible! They don’t even play like they want to win. Even if we’ve dropped of on talent we should still beat Kentucky. We should still beat Vandy. Think about this: we should have lost to Colo. We should have lost to Miss.St. We should be 4-6 right now. In the past couple of years I could tell, at times, that we seem to be playing acording to the level of our opponet. It’s way obvious now. It would seem that these guys (coaches & players) would have a little more pride than they’re showing. It would seem. I just wonder if CMR will wake up and make the changes that need to be made (he truely knows where the problem(s) lye). I just wonder IF he does, will Georgia ever get back to where they were — with that passion that they’ve so obviously lost. It takes a lot longer to gain it back than it does to lose it.

I wholeheartedly agree with you 2N4Years. It is not the losing that bothers me so much as the fact that the dawgs just do not show much heart or enthusiasm. Don’t get me wrong-I like and respect Coach Richt but his passiveness on the sidelines carries over to the team. If the team sees the coach not getting upset at drop passes, interceptions, etc., they are going to think that the coach doesn’t care and they will stop caring. I can’t stand Steve Spurrier but at least when he did not like what was going on the field, he would yank off his headphones and visor and throw them on the ground (I would count the number of times he threw his visor on the ground during games). Tuberville chewed his Auburn team out during halftime earlier this year and they came out a different team. In a “60 minutes” profile last Sunday, Charlie Weiss of Notre Dame was seen chewing out his players and assistant coaches for miscues on the field. Even Coach Dooley, during his coaching days at Georgia, got into the emotion of the game. It was fun watching him do some of his gyrations on the sideline. Those players knew that he cared. Of course many of us cannot ever forget ERK. He was one of a kind. This is one reason SEC football is fun to watch-the passion of the coaches, players, and fans. I just hope that Coach Richt makes the necessary changes and light a fire under the players and assistants and fire any assistants if necessary. If Richt wants to be laid-back he needs to move to California and coach.

I can understand a “rebuilding” year from time to time, however, with top 5 recruiting classes every year, it should be more of a “retooling” than “rebuilding” year. There is no question that CMR and his staff have done, by far, the poorest coaching job in the SEC this year. How do other teams with nowhere near the talent level of Georgia play over their heads week in and week out and compete and occasionally beat some of the top teams. Look at the coaching job that the perennial cellar dwellars in the SEC are doing with “no name” recruiting classes and ask yourself how can Georgia play at such a poor level if the coaching was outstanding. Poor offense, poor defense, poor special teams, poor adjustments during the game, continuous mistakes, penalties, dropped balls, poor non-innovative play calling, lack of fire and motivation, etc. goes back to the coaches. There has to be a major change in attitude from CMR toward his staff, his and their performance and what is needed to consistently be competive in the SEC year after year. The top programs don’t totally fall apart in a down year. Look at Auburn and Florida to see how they perform when things aren’t quite right.

FIRE WILLIE MARTINEZ!!!!!!! Plese read and see if you agree. We couldn’t get a defensive stop today to get the win!

War Eagle ** I read your writ…The SEC has, again, been narrowed down. The Thundering Pumpkins are true mid-packers this season…By all rights we are due to lose this week against the Slophawgs… Ainge now has two bum ankles so odds are we’ll see Crompton Saturday… To me, the biggest play was LSU’s fake punt in the 4th. UT was peeling back for a return and LSU punter took off left. EZ as pie…LSU made a great call there…As Scarlett said, “Tomorrow’s another day”…

Thanks for the support T.Slay. And I couldn’t agree more w/ you & Bulldog Pete. Bulldog Pete, you also brought up a lot of very good points that I didn’t, but were thinking myself. I have learned something over the last couple of years, though. TT at AU looked like he wasn’t a very good coach a few years ago. Ditto for PP at TENN last year. And UGA is worse since BV left a coulpe of years ago. Asst. coaches make Head coaches look like either a genious or an idiot. MR knows better than I do as which one is making him look like the later. Lets hope he does the smart thing & make the neccesary changes.

The dogs will be fine they are a young team that is still growing.next will be better, but like with any sport you have to take the good with the bad.I hate seeing them lose just as much as anyone one else but the kids on the team hate it more and a little moral support from the fans goes a long ways booing the recievers off the field is noway to treat a Georgia Bulldog. We’ve had a lot of good years with Richt and we’ll have a lot more. EVERY DOG HAS HIS DAY. Johnny

What sucks is, all you air head mutt nation fans have to go to work tomorrow and show your face after talking all that smack last week how you won’t loose to Kentucky. It really must suck to be a dog fan these days.
Then I read in the blog, some of you still running the lips about beating Auburn and Tech, My god people what are you smoking, do you not see that you suck yet. Face it you suck Georgia, you would think with lowering the grade point avg 4 years ago that you could have found some good football players… wait I thought you guys were the king of recruting the last 4 years? anyway I could go on and on but Im not. Im done with this.
Well as a matter of fact you have to do this for the next 2 games.

Gen. please get A.Foster out of jail and others, Vols need to win bad this week. I am sure LSU will jump on Arky and they will wear Miss state down to nothing, so please win. If Auburn wins out they will play in the Cotton bowl(AtLarge BCS Bid) and play winner ACC conference. Of course we prefer SEC game, but scores will tell. I know Auburen has UGA and bammer left who has lost 8 games among them, but still will be tough, especially at 12:30 PM. Go Vols

After reading a few of the negative comments on this site, I have this to say: Grow up, get a life, and try to have a perspective longer than one season. You sound like a bunch of psycotic ‘Bama people!
My friends who are alums from other SEC schools would love to see Coach Richt leave UGA so the Dawgs can return to mediocrity. They know what he’s meant to this program more than some of our own so-called fans.
Nobody wins all the time. The ‘79 Dawgs struggled mightily, losing the first three games of the season. Guess what happened in 1980?
When Coach Richt brings home a national championship, you negative posters will be singing his praises. I, however, won’t be reading it.

man, i swear on everything when i say that most of the team was at the Ritz last night partyin. i “spoke” with d ware and i quote spoke cuz he was drunk as hell. lets just say he was happy to have scored a touchdown. those guys were living it up last night man. i left around 1:30 and they were still there drinkin and listening to some crunk, bounce around and yell rap music. the cover charge was 5 bucks but of course free for players. I actually had a good time but was just shocked that no oone seemed to have any ill affects from the loss or even seemed remotely disappointed. how old is joe cox anyway? he was double fisting two beers. itds funny cuz there was all these big black guys in there, then i look over and the one having the most fun and being the wildest is a white kid with red hair.

The dawgs are having a bad yr. I do believe the defense hasn’t been the same since Van Gorder left so a change needs to happen there. Now with all the turnovers you can’t blame the coaches for that. That is a player issure just the same as dropped passes. A coach has to have faith that a player is going to make the play when it comes his way. We can’t win every year even though we’ve come used to it. Richt is the best thing thats happen to UGA since Dooley. Lets not forget that.

I have faith in Richt. We won 2 SEC titles in the last 5 years. We are not very good this year, I agree. But we can turn it around and Richt is the guy who will do that.
Richt’s had a lot to deal with this year (wife’s cancer). He might not be all there which I can understand because I wouldn’t either under those circumstances.
I think Dawg fans should calm down a little and realize that one bad year does not erase 5 good years!
We will be back but in the meantime when does basketball start?

ugastudent, it’s unfortunate to hear that our players were partying after we took a disappointing loss on Saturday. We should have been watching film or running through form tackle drills instead of downtown living it up. Our tackling has been ridiculous. We are just sloppy right now in many phases of the game. Our pursuit angles have been poor. Our outside rush has been average at best and our interior blocking is pitiful. I also would like to know why we went away from Lumpkin in the second half. If we are going to get another W Lumpkin is our man. I would also like to know why I didn’t see Tripp Chandler on the field like I thought we were going to . What happened to that? I haven’t given up. I’ve been a fan for a long time and know you go through the good and the bad. I just can’t stomach losing 4 out of 5. That is unacceptable. Win the next 2. That is all we can hope for. In this situation you have to look to the future and not the present as a fan . We will get back to the top of the mountain. Coach Richt will take us there. See you at the top. GO DAWGS!!

We are lucky to be 6-4 right now, could very easily be 4-6. Georgia is down this year. I certainly didn’t think we were this far down, but it is what it is.
Richt and this team as a whole are learning very valuable lessons. I think you will see a lot of changes in the off-season. Coaching, personnel, transfers. And Georgia will come out of this a better team and Richt will come out of this a better coach.
That being said, Georgia is headed for a 6-6 record and I think they should decline any bowl invite they get as a statement to this staff and these players. They don’t deserve a free trip to Winder. Instead, they need to start the mat drills a little earlier.

I have said it and said it ……give Stafford the boot play Cox. The Coach says he has to stay with Stafford. Well he sure did not feel that way about Greene. When he was struggling in comes Shockley . Then after the brink of defeat Greene back in to try and salvage it. What in the world goes through his head!!!!!
