UGA blog finds new home
Morning all. As I’ve said a couple of times this week, we’re converting this blog over to a WordPress platform and it will be a permanent move the first of next week.
Those of you who are regulars probably know that I’m not what you’d call techno-wizard when it comes to these things. But from what I understand the technology offered in this new format should make the blogging and commenting experience better for all. Of course, I’ll be learning as we go along, too. But I’m hoping to provide more pictures and video and things like that which should bring the blog more to life.
Of course, this blog is nothing without all you guys so I want to heartily invite (read: beg) you to come over to the new site by CLICKING HERE ON THE NEW ADDRESS and save it in your browsers. As of Monday, Feb. 23rd, this will be the permanent home of the UGA blog you so love or, in the case of some of you, love to loathe. If you’d prefer to copy and paste or just memorize, the new address is: http://blogs.ajc.com/uga-sports-blog/.
See at the new place!

Stafford-Moreno play highlights Cap One
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
ORLANDO — Well, it wasn’t exactly a thing of beauty but it definitely was a solid win for Georgia.
Fittingly, in what very well could have been the final games of their college careers, Matthew Stafford connected with Knowshon Moreno on a 21-yard touchdown pass with 3:34 remaining in the game to put the finishing touches on a 24-12 win over Michigan State in the Capital One Bowl.
Stafford, after playing perhaps his worst half of the season in the first half, played perhaps his best in the second. He went 14-of-17 for 179 yards and three TDs after halftime and was named the bowl’s MVP.
Moreno was the recipient of those passes for 63 yards in the game. He had only 62 yards rushing on 23 carries as the Bulldogs were running out the clock at the end.
Great defensive effort by the Dogs. They had six sacks in the game, the most since they had eight in the Sugar Bowl last season.
So Georgia (10-3) records at least 10 wins for the sixth time in eight seasons under coach Mark Richt. Of course, they were hoping for a little more than that this season.
What thinks you?

If the defense had played that well all year long, it would have been a better season. But overall it was a great win. I hope Stafford and Moreno return for next year, but if not, I wish them all the best in the NFL.

Once again a win but inconsistent, like most of the season. Just when the defense finally shows up, the offense is stagnant, go figure. At least they showed up to play in the second half. I did think right away when Stafford threw the TD to Moreno that this game could be their last game as Dawgs. We’ll see.

Thanks for the effort Moreno, See ya! Stafford, We’ll see you next year, you still have a lot of honing to do.
Richt, you need to look at Les Miles, Eye of the Tiger you have not.
Looking forward to next year Dawgs!

Good win and congratulations to the defense for one of their best all around efforts of the season. I am not on the fire the coaches bandwagon at all, but one thing I would not stand for is the constant jawing, pushing and trash talking that the Dawgs are always doing. It is important to be excited and psyched but not to the point of excessive penalties and acting like a bunch of punks. Coaches can stop that by pulling players from games and punitive activities at practice. Other than that, great effort and go DAWGS! Glad Stafford finally got into the game. Can’t wait till next season.

Wasn’t really a pretty win, but have any of them really been this year, thanks to the defense, they looked good. Just one season though I’d love to see the offense put opponents away, stomp on them and then run the score up.

It was strange seeing the 1st half. The units played the exact opposite of what they had during most of the season. Defense was getting after it, and the offense struggled today. But what a 3rd quarter for Stafford!

It was a boring game from a team with so much talent, GA have the worst coaches in the SEC, UGA was a very overated team this year . I still think Richt should GO and staford should stay because it’s obivous he need more time to mature.

Me thinks we played a sorry MSU who we let hang around. No consistency whatsoever either defense or offense sucks and special teams. Defense was good but then again it was MSU. CMR needs to make significant improvement if Georgia is to ever win a NC under him.

Michigan State was not an elite or BCS team … did Georgia really have that great a defensive effort? It was a fair effort against an average opponent. I’m not real excited about next year. CMR needs some fire and passion … I get tired of low key football and wins over mediocre opponents. The Capital One bowl just don’t really excite me. We did poorly with the talent we had this year. Coaching (especially defensively) was a burst … I don’t see it improving against an Alabama or Florida or even Tech. We desperately need changes now.
Willie got a temporary reprieve but it won’t last long in 2009.

Sloppy first half, but they got it together at the half and handled Michigan State. Michigan State had a good, hard-hitting defense, especially the secondary.
This was a nice finish to an otherwise disappointing season and gives them some momentum going into 2009. I have thought all along that 2009 would be the year, but had counted on Stafford and Moreno being back. We’ll see.

Now that there’s not going to be a rookie salary scale at least until 2011, Stanfford is staying. Too many millions between the first pick (likely Bradford) and the second. Plus even if he was the first pick, you think he wants to go to the Lions?

Now we’re stuck with Willie. We’re screwed. This win was like a 3-12 team winning its last NFL game and dropping 3 spots in the draft because of it. I’d have preferred our defense give up another 50. 51-50 Dawg win would have been perfect. Would have been better for us in the long run. Now we’re really stuck with that bozo.

I’m glad for the win. The defense played much better than before. But, they still made too many stupid mistakes. Hopefully they will be smarter next year. And, clearly, Michigan State isn’t that good of a team. We should have beaten them by 30 points. Big 10 sucks!

Still some things to work on, but the D looked good. MSU showed up and played well, but the talent level of the SEC just shows in big games like this. Now we wait to see what 7 and 24 will do. Looks like Willie saved the best for last. Outstanding effort by the D. Loved those sacks. Loved the way we contained Ringer.
Great choice for MVP for Stafford’s second half performance. A fitting cap TD to Knowshon. My prediction, Knowshon gone, Stafford stays. Who wants to take the chance to get drafted by the Lions.

INJURIES … did you even notice the players that have not been in since prior to the Alabama game …
1 - Preseason expectations were way too high. 2 - Due to injuries we lost 50 player games …With all the injuries and dissapointments we have a 10 win team … (As only Charlie can say …) “Good Grief”.

Your lover boy JohninJAX…was lashing out against the CWM haters not CMR. Most of the Dawg Nation wants CMR to be living legend in Georgia. But we are ready to see a change at the helms of the DC. Willie has got to go. If our Defense plays plays better in the loses to Alabama (41-30) and Ga Tech(48-45) we might be looking at a 12-1 versus a 10-3 Capital One Bowl Champs…… Georgia ranks second to last in Defense in the SEC.numbers and math don’t lie.

More intensisty on defense and better tackling. Play calling was suspect at times as they never really tried to get Moreno on the outside enough. Nice to see Caleb King see some action as he will be an important piece next year. I feel Joe Cox will surprise a lot of people. Get everyone healthy and finish off a good recruiting year and we should be in the thick of things next year. Not the prettiest win but we will take it.We need Brandon Smith and Marlon Brown to commit.

I am happy we won, proud of our defense, but where was this defense all year long?
I am as big a UGA fan as there is, but I am GLAD this season is over. I am tired of watching boring, undisciplined football full of penalties, turnovers, and soft defense. We have not ONE signature win this year, and got blown out against Al and Fla. Every inferior team we played we let hang around and gave them many opportunities to win.
Next year I hope we avoid the injury bug and we need to start MASHING opponents……….

Why do you want Stafford back…I have not seen any improvement since he took over as a freshman. Think about it how many times did he attempt the fade pass in the end zone 0 for 20, how many deep passes did he throw out of bounds to a wide open receiver? He reminds me of a Brett Farve can knock you down on a crossing pattern but ask him to throw a touch pass usually results in an incompletion or interception.

I don’t think beating a Big Ten also ran by 12 proves anything except that this team didn’t play up to its potential all year. Coaching is the problem. MSU got beat badly by Penn State and Ohio State this year, and both of those teams are going to get smoked when they play elite teams USC and Texas. What does that say about us? If we were as good as all of us thought going into the season, we’d have beat MSU by 30. Instead, we got a pretty mediocre result.
“The talent level shows in big games like this.” You mean like last year’s Cap 1 Bowl when Michigan beat Florida, or this year’s Outback Bowl where Iowa killed Spurrier. Making broad conference pronouncements based on these games is pretty stupid. The facts show the Big Ten and SEC generraly split their bowl games year-in, year-out. Just like this year, so shut up about the conference comparison.

If we were playing a BETTER team ,we would have LOST by 20. We are a very disorganized team.TOO many mistakes!!Bad play calling on BOTH sides of the ball.I’ve been a big follower of Coach Richt, but I’m starting to lose confidence in him MANAGING his coaches and his time management. We have TOO much talent to let a inferior team give us a game. We have got to get OUR act together for 2009.

OK, so UGA pulled out a win. Nice job of the defense finally playing like they should have been playing all along. The difference….. play calling. We went after the QB and put pressure on him. Where was that type of pressure during the year?
Thank God for Moreno. I hope he stays. But Stafford can hit the road. I thought he was supposed to be a seasoned college QB? He started out the game like this was his first bowl game. Throwing the ball through the players instead of to them. Throwing the ball in the ground. Typical strong armed, super talented QB (aka Ryan Leaf, Michael Vick, Jeff George). He’s got the arm, but hasn’t learned how to use it. The first thing CMR should have done with this kid is show him David Greene and DJ Shockley footage on how to win championships as a QB. He is definintely not a Matt Ryan clone. Maybe an NFL coach will get in his head, because Bobo and Richt haven’t been able to. Be prepared to sit in the NFL for a while Stafford.
But the real issue with this team is CMR’s lack of control over the team. More penalties. Personal fouls, false starts, etc. Moreno almost got one by almost kicking the ball after a play. You can put CMR in the same group as Wade Phillips. Both are at the top of their leagues in penalties, dropped passes, etc. That equates to no focus or discipline. I give CMR 2 more years of this crap. Then we will be looking for someone else. Every coach since Dooley has been a loose styled coach afraid to confront their players and make them pay for hurting the team with useless, mindless mistakes.
Give us 3 star recruits who are disciplined and put the team before themselves rather than these 5 star recruits that play like a bunch of high schoolers.

Newsflash “What the HAY:”
Injuries didn’t cause a 31-0 thumping in the first half against Alabama ( Georgia proved in the second half that they can play defense, but they blew it in the first half)
Injuries didn’t cause 26 points scored by Ga Tech in the 3rd Quarter. It was complacency, cockiness and a lack of discipline to stop a high school offense( LSU apparently figured it out…its not that hard just “Stay at home” and Wrap up).
Discipline reflects Leaderships……Leadership = Coaching. WILLIE has to go!!!!!!!!!!!! 2009 will be a better year.

It’s always a good when an SEC team wins a bowl game. That said, we miss all the pre-season No. 1 talk from the Dawgs. If last year’s big Hawaii victory meant they should be ranked first, shouldn’t beating Mich State qualify the Dawgs for yet another pre-season national championship? Come on, put on some black clothes and get the hype going for next year already….

I couldn’t agree with you more. When are people going to stop being content with a 10 win season. You ask USC, Texas, OU, and dare I say FLORIDA if 10 wins is a successful season, and I bet they all say “ABSOLUTELY NOT!!!!”. Richt will be gone within two years. Another underachieving year like this one and he’ll leave on his own to pursue missionary work and there’s no reason to believe that anything will change with another top ten recruiting class and no coaching changes. No new coach in their right mind will keep Willie.
The next question is when will they jettison Damon Evans? He’s as lame as they come. Time to reverse the PC crap and get a credible AD.

The defense finally played like they need to after a year of mostly being awful, and it was great to see. Of course having a Big Ten team to play made it a lot easier. I bet Stafford will come back, Moreno will turn pro, but we have other running backs. Replacing Stafford will be much more difficult. Congratulations on finishing on a positive note for what was a year that didn’t live up to the expectations, but the devastation of injuries was just too much to overcome. Oh, and by the way I loved watching all those Tech Geeks in the stands last night. The Jackets got lucky this year, expect another long losing streak to start next year.

Wow, BBR, it doesn’t take much to please you at the end of the year. I think I remember Tech beat us in our own yard so who gives a crap if we’re ranked higher?? That’s the kind of thinking that makes us such a mediocre program. Until we change that kind of thinking, we’ll always be a middle of the road SEC team and not an elite team. We missed a HUGE opportunity this year to show UGA was a national power, and we totally screwed that up.

Damn Heath, I was just about to say exactly the same things you said above. I agree wholeheartedly. I don’t think Richt has much control over this team. Until Richt develops AND INSTILLS a KILLER INSTINCT, UGA will continue with more of the same. I’m not sure anyway if CMR has that instinct in him. I guess we’ll see if he has the balls to really audit the program honestly and make the needed changes. I myself have not had less fun in a season as this year. They were consistently put in bad positions and they stood tough and played with intensity. They bailed out the rest of the team which is something they had not yet done all season. MSU may not be Florida or Texas but tackling is still tackling. We held an all-american tailback to less than 50 yds. We pursued, hit hard and wrapped up. Nice job!

To Heath,
You are an absolute idiot. Schockley and Greene couldn’t carry Stafford’s jock strap, especially DJ, and while Greene had some decent days most tackles in the SEC moved faster than him. Matthew didn’t look good at all in the first half, but the second half was a thing of beauty by the best quarterback in college football. I hope he stays and delays his place as eventually being the best quarterback in the NFL for another year. Right now that honor goes to Peyton Manning, and his little brother Eli sucks. Next best is Rivers, and then you have a bunch of nothing but average Joes.

I liked that graphic on TV about how poor the defenses Oklahoma have faced this season have been. Sorta sounds like those UNBEATABLE Ohio State Yuckeye chokers huh? Tim Tebow and pals will show the Heisman Trophy voters what they think of their choice. Florida will win in a runaway! I am not a Gator fan but I despise how overrated Northern teams which play nobody worth a damn are proclaimed invincible every season. Only until they run up against a QUALITY opponent that is! GO GATORS! Make the SEC title streak three. Perhaps one decade my Dawgs will be in that mix. I am in my 50s so I might not live to see it. Oh well. Ten wins. No SEC championship. Pretty amazing the difference halftime made for UGA today. The dawgs are so much better than they played this year and I think it all boils down to motivation issues and stupid penalties. Finally! A Great and Noble Effort by the Defense! However, just a few notable observations from the game. First, it was apparent that MSU had no deep threat which allowed the dawgs to close to the line. Second, FOR ONCE can BW go for an entire game without kicking the ball out of bounds. And last but not least B Mims redeemed himself after that flub punt with an outstanding 60yard punt. This being sais WM still has alot to prove to me and one bowl game against an inferior Big Ten opponent won’t go very far! GO DAWGS in 2009!

Hey, get a grip people. Our goal was not and is not a 10 win season. It does however speak about the qualiaty of a program when in a down year they still get 10 wins. You can say what you want, every UGA fan does consider this a down year. We have come to expect better and CMR will lead us to a MNC soon. The programs you speak about above ga tech & so carolina have been pretty pathetic over the years (yes I know about tech’s glory years over a half century ago) and they would readily swap places with us. Georgia tech knows in their heart how lucky they were to win in Athens this year, and to the victor go the spoils, so they have been rubbing it in for the last month. However, nationally the final ranking does mean that UGA is better than ga tech now matter us having gift wrapped their 1st legal win over us in 18 years. If I were a tech fan I would hate UGA too, it is the classic Big Brother syndrome. As for UF until we begin to beat them more than 2 every 8 years (as we have under CMR) they still get to talk the smack. UGA is now the sleeping giant that is about to awaken. Get use to it.

ugarulz44: Who’s speaking too soon? And who said anything about us winning an NC this year? the UF-OU game is a toss-up at best. Our program assumes nothing until we prove it on the field — unlike you outta-control Dawgs a year ago. Pitting yourselves against LSU and claiming you belonged in the NC game last year was the height of arrogance. And as for “speaking too soon” this was followed by more nauseating pre-season hype than any SEC team that hadn’t even won its own division has ever displayed. But, hey, you’re right about 10 win seasons. Somehow, losing badly to both the East and West division champs plus your in-state rivals has made 2008 a successful season in Mark Richt’s shoot-low world.

Congrats to the Dawgs for the bowl win and another 10 win season.
Hey, ga tech, keep talking! Might as well ebay those rings while they may have some value to some tech fan now grasping at anything to savor!!
I hope Moreno stays. Stafford, too, but Moreno is THE MAN! Turning potential loses in backfield to yards gained.
I did not understand, for the life of me, what coach was thinking at end of first half. we had over 2 min’s to go w/3 timeouts, and we only use one and not even attempt for another first down or long field goal with seconds left. we let the clock run down, also Stafford did have 2 bad/long throws. did not understand that series.
also, i have no confidence in martinez. the tackling was better, should have been after a break and time to practice, but we still run a three man rush giving them time to throw, get gains. if that mich st recv. did not step back they would have had a first down on 4th and over 15!!!! also, mich st offense drive before that, 4th and 6th or so, and we blitz- the correct thing to do, but he drops back the secondary so far that they complete the first down easily. reminds me of the bama game. martinez’a schemes keep the other teams in the game.
i love the dawgs. will take any win, and i’m very happy for the seniors to go out on top w/a bowl win.

Get a grip Georgia fans - you are 10-3 and finished second in your division. To those who think Georgia was better than that - after 13 games you are what you are. Georgia was a really good team - better than most but not an elite BCS team. The team rarely dominated the way an elite BCS team does.

To rickdawg
The facts speak for themselves.
Greene, the winningest quarterback in UGA history. Managed the game, threw a catchable ball and didn’t have to run for the team to be successful. Why would Stafford need to run with Moreno, King, AJ Green, and MoMass as weapons? Which brings up another question. Where was Southerland and Chappas in the play calling today? Geez!
DJ, won the SEC Championship with one year of starting. Didn’t have near the talent on the team that this year’s team had. He showed the leadership and poise that is required to be a big time college quarterback.
Uh, how many championships has Georgia won with Stafford at the helm?
I rest my case.

How important is Defense? Well, we just witnessed The Dawgs play 2 quarters of Offense and 4 quarters of Defense and we won 24 - 12. Michigan State has a good team. Besides, lesser teams scored far more points on us this year.
That was perhaps the finest Defensive Performance of the season for The Dawgs. Inspired, well executed and well conditioned.
Now why couldn’t the Defense play like this during the season? Ans. Coaching.

Oh come on! Michigan State has a good team? The Big Ten is 1-5 in bowl games (I’m giving the Rose to USC since they’re up 31-7 at the half). Texas will likely make it 1-6 when they wax OSU. Georgia just beat a mid-level team in a bad conference! MSU won’t be ranked in the final BCS standings, so this win should be about as satisfying as the Central Michigan game. I guess if you lower your expectations enough, the Bulldogs can come through. By the way, OSU beat MSU by 38 and Penn St. beat them by 31. The Dawgs got ‘em by 12! Yeah, that’s impressive.

That was the best defensive performance I have seen all year from the dawgs. Held Ringer to 47 yards, had 6 sacks, held them to like 200 yds total offense, bailed out our offense a couple of times, great day for the defense. They definitely redeemed a little dignity in my book. I hope this will shut people up for a little while. I think Willie proved today that he can still coach when his players are healthy and focused. This is ridiculous. We beat Michigan State. They’re NOBODY. They’re ASU.
Willie Martinez NEVER has his defenses prepared to beat teams we actually need to beat.
WVU in the 2005 Sugar Bowl. Tenn in 2006 and 2007. Florida, Bama, & Tech this year.
Here’s the most important stat:
Under BVG’s four years as DC, the Georgia defense gave up 30 or more points only ONE TIME.
Under Willie, our defense has given up 30 or more points ELEVEN TIMES in the same amount of years!!!
ELEVEN TIMES!!!
This year alone, we gave up 40 or more points THREE TIMES!!!
In our last five games, we gave up 38 or more points.
The bottom fell out this year because all of the players who BVG coached were gone. Marcus Howard was the last guy.
The players don’t fear and respect Martinez like they did BVG.
His defenses play stupid, they play undisciplined, and they sorely lack in fundamentals.
Not to mention he’s a terrible game planner, play caller, and he’s never met an in-game adjustment he’s willing to make.
Willie Martinez is a terrible DC, and he wasn’t all that good a secondary coach, either.
The only reason he’s in his position is the same reason why Jeff Bowden was FSU’s OC though he never deserved it: because of his personal relationship with the head coach.
Georgia is going to lose to LSU (who had the cajones to fire their DC and hire Chavis) and Florida next year, and probably to Tech again.
You want proof of how bad a DC Martinez is? Look at what LSU did to Tech.

I agree w/ FLA DAWG. The defense stepped up when they had too and didn’t give up any big plays. Not saying UGA has the best “D” out there, I’m simply saying they looked improved over the last few outings. IMHO the 3 losses this year were not so surprising. However, the whippins’ we took and the points given up throughout the season were. Man I hope the coaching staff works that out before next year. By the way, how goofy does Tech and their fans look now with the goofy, made-up “championship rings” about the time I think they might actually be turning it around they go and prove me wrong by looking like a big bung of goobers! Hey GAY8tr, things are so great for your life that you are reading and writing on UGA blogs on New Years Day. Complaining about UGA winning!!!!!!!! Get a life. UGA wanted to be in the MNC game, but they didn’t make it, like 127 other teams. So did USC, but they are making the most of the bowl that they are in. Is that what your mighty Gaytors did last year against (Ha Ha) the Mighty Wolverines. Why do we catch grief about playing a Big 10 team when they kicked you across the state last year. Give me a break, get out of your mothers basement, get out from behind her skirt and get a life. We are not on the UF blogs talking smack. Grow up. One thing about UGA that you Gaytors can never say, we may not win all the games, but we are never losers. It looks like you are.
Chip, the game was a great test of whether or not the coaches could get the team up for this type of game, and they did. UGA had everything to lose and not much to gain. Michigan State nothing to lose and all to gain. The defense played well against one of the best runners int he country and after all is said and done UGA got another W I was curious about the lack of notice for Massaquoi and Green

Greene was a good bulldog but let’s be honest. He won so many games because of the defense not his offensive play. It’s a lot easier to manage a game when you don’t have to hang half a hundred on everyone to have a chance of winning. Matt Stafford is a much better qb. We’d have a much worse record without him. While I trust Joe Cox will do a fine job next year if Matt leaves, I’ll be thankful if he stays.
As for DJ. He may not be able to carry some things but he did carry an otherwise average team to an SEC championship with a defense giving up a lot more points than they did with his predecessor. In fact, the only games he lost was UF, which he did not play in and Auburn/WVa in which the defense crapped the bed.

Michigan state had their opportunities against UGA. UGA fans should take no heart in this victory. Richt, (who is a good man) has been at the helm for years and with his recruits for years and Dantonio is ony 2 years into his tenure with much better recruits on the way (see rivals rankings) and more discipline play coming. MSU needs to have better balance and more explosiveness in offense. The two backup QBs for state have more talent than Hoyer who was always limited in his abilities. The biggest upgrade MSU needs is on the line of scrimage on both sides. The O line is big but slow of foot and there is very little pass rush presense on the Dline this year. However, the young guy have better talent (of course less PT) and this will eventually show. Congrats to UGA they were the better team in terms of talent on the field. And to all fellow spartans, richt is a CLASS ACT. next year we have two Qbs that are over Hoyers skill level and it should be quite the battle between Cousins and Nichol with Maxwell on their heels. UGA should be better next year as I believe Stafford may be back next year bbut either way the Oline should be great, PLEASE BEAT BAMA. Don’t get too excited folks. MSU is not a very good team. Our team speed stymied their less than stellar offense. Did you notice how often it appeared MSU had gotten to the corner only to be stopped for little or no gain by one defensive player running down the MSU player.
Sorry guys, but we’ve proven all year you can’t do that against quality opponents, or even less than quality opponents like GT (LSU showed how relatively easy it is to stop that so-called offense of GT - which UNC had already done during the regular season).
No, I am not convinced we are anywhere near solving our problems on defense and our lack of discipline and otherwise dumb plays. We need significant improvement to “compete” with Alabama and Florida on a regular basis.

One more comment - it must be pitiful to be a tech fan with nothing better to do than say such mean-spirited things on this blog. What’s the point? I have many friends who actually graduated from GT. I am glad to say we can go to a tech-uga game together and not lose our friendship over the result of the game. Being a uga fan or a tech fan does not reflect on one’s intelligence or character. Maybe I’m wrong, but I didn’t see any play action passes in the 1st half. Every time Stafford was under center he handed off to Moreno, ran it himself, or gave it to another running back. Every time he was in shotgun formation, he threw the ball, except the end around. MSU knew early on what to expect from these formations. In the 2nd half, we started using play action passes and it opened it up for us. Also, why did we not throw more to A.J. and MoMass? Were they covered that good? I’ve not been down on Mike Bobo, but the play calling in the 1st half was awful. No wonder Stafford could not get in rythem the first half—MSU knew when we were going to pass and when we were going to run. Gainesville Ga Dawg(fmr Ocala Dawg)

Why is it that there’s always an ignorant tech fan on the UGA blogs trying to make it seem like tech’s players are all going to be mechanical engineers? Do they know that there are programs like custodial engineering designed just for them so they can make good enough grades to play? I’m not saying that they all take the easy courses however, they have their share just like every other Div 1 school. I guess it’s just an excuse for them to use for getting beat 80% of the time by UGA. Stop the hate! LOL! And by the way, didn’t they get caught playing athletes that weren’t academically eligible? S.E.Dawg - You make a good point. Trust me, as a former football coach myself, I am painfully aware of how mean and critical and negative fans can be. Let me be clear - I think Mark Richt is a great football coach, and an even better human being. I would never entrust either of my two sons to coaches like Saban or Meyer. I would have relished the opportunity to have had my sons play for a man like Coach Richt. I am 100% sure that Coach Richt will be evaluating everything from this past season. I am also confident he will correct some of the deficiencies we’ve seen this past season. I was simply observing that we have some things to correct if we expect to compete with Alabama and Florida on a regular basis. I’m pretty sure Coach Richt agrees and will do what he thinks is necessary.

For everyone who is happy to kick a team that would probably be a .500 team in the SEC, after slopping it around the 1st half, Congratulations!
For everyone else who wants better and dare I say “demands better”, it was just a ho-hum game that had the announcers saying “what is wrong with Stafford today?” in the 1st half. If I had been a GM of a NFL team I wouldn’t dare choose him the way he played in the 1st half. Not that he missed throws but he looked scared of being hit, he was way off the mark and looked like he was heartless. I’m glad for his sake he finished strong, maybe someone gave him an attitude adjustment at halftime or maybe it was something as simple as “finding his rythmn.” Whatever the case I’m glad we were playing a lesser team. A team with comparable talent as ours would have cleaned our clock today.

I bet that was the highlight of your Holiday….Woof, Woof….what a dipstick.

As for the mysterious play calling with 2 minutes left before the half, CMR said he did not want to get the Defense back out on the field - why? were they tired after a month off ? If they were it didnt show…
That was a real wierd 2 minutes of our lives we will never get back, even with the full supply of time outs available…

WOW! Tim can think of a comeback. A pathetic one, but at least he can think. Tim, I know who you are. Your Mom is the fat stripper that takes care of your daddy’s friends. You on the other hand, can’t take care of your own a*. You live by yourself, have no girlfriend or wife, and live in an apartment that you are having trouble paying rent on. Just shut up and learn about the game before you trash talk. Tell me what makes you think that you can comment on what the Dawgs need to do to get better? Are you a former player, coach, or just another idiot that wears a UGA golf shirt and roots for the dawgs when they win and cuts them down after every loss? Please let us all know your qualifications. Also, only queers use the word dipstick, douchebag.

The devil is in the UGA fans. You are turning on each other. Eating your own. Sooo funny to watch. Everyone needs to just calm down. You will always be competitive (pat on the head) but not a NC team. So stop expecting so much. You have one a single national championship in all the years you played. That is an anomaly, a blip. It is not like you have won even 5. So just settl down and have some dip. CMR is good enough for your program and you will not find anybody better.

Look, quit foolin’ yourselves. No national championship with Richt. Never. He doesn’t have the smarts nor the passion to make it happen. Our program mirrors Florida State’s in so many ways. Lots of underachieving talent. Distracting legal issues. Undisciplined, unreliable play. These are signs of coaching problems.

brian Jones Tech Fan, It looked like CMR had control of his team in the bowl. You need to go back to your little beanie hat and slide rule and figure out how CPJ lost control of his. Or maybe it was just that his team played way above its head against UGA, FSU, and Wofford too for that matter. CPJ is a good coach, and he is right where he needs to be, in a program that can play one or two big games a year, and then not worry about the rest becuase they are weak sister ACC teams.

UGA players are like all the other college athletes. Players that have no class, trash talk, can’t compose a complete sentence, no discipline, arrogant, self-serving, “look at me attitude”, trouble makers, etc. Most of them should not even be in college. But winning at all cost is all that matters. How many of your “heros” will be arrested this year…or have academic problems? How many UGA recruits will be denied entry because of academics? And UGA is a major university with an international reputation for it’s academics. You want to see class…look at the athletes at the military academies. That’s discipline! No trash talking! No disrespect for authority! But I guess your drunk a$$ is up in the stands every Saturday doing the “Solja Boy” screaming Woof, Woof because UGA is beating some “high School” team. Look what happens when UGA plays a contender…they get their a$$ handed to them. Don’t worry Jay, UGA will not have to play Alabama next year…but they will have to play Florida, Kentucky, Vandy. What did I say that is not the truth?

You’re wrong. David Greene and DJ Shockley played with more heart and were much better leaders than Stafford though nowhere near as talented. Stafford has the arm, but not the mental aspect. His deep ball is very inaccurate. In the NFL, you have to be able to read defenses and carry a team at QB( in domes, rain, snow, mud). Do you really think Stafford is ready to be the face of a franchise? He will go to the Lions or the Chiefs which means unlike Joe Flacco who has a great defense to bail him out when he plays bad in Baltimore, or a great running game like Matt Ryan has in Atlanta, Stafford will have to carry those teams. That means he’ll have to play with a lousy O-line, minimal running game, deal with idiot coaches and GM’s, and play from behind more times than not. Peyton Manning and Troy Aikman played on awful teams their first year, but were able to survive because they were mentally tough. I think Stafford’s psyche is very fragile and playing for a team like Detroit or KC would destroy his confidence because he won’t have any guidance. Going pro now would be a HUGE mistake for him this year.

What do all you Dawg haters want? I don’t think you would be happy if UGA won 99-3 because we didn’t get to 100 and the defense allowed a field goal. All UGA fans want the SEC and National Championships, but I will take a 10 win year with all the problems we had this year. But, if you were UGA AD, who would you hire? I don’t think we could do better the CMR? And what about Willie? Who do you want? Hate on another team, Tech needs the fans. GO DAWGS!!!

Good year. Not great. In 2009 lets never talk about “getting our swagger back” and “needing a vocal leader”. Instead get the players to focus on being faster, stronger, and smarter in their OWN individual position roles. Everyone of them could have been better.

In other games the Defense would have folded leading to a loss. The Dawg Defense never laid down. Stafford settled down in the second half and connected for major yardage.
Against The Spartans we saw a Dawg Offense that could score points and a Defense that never quit.
That’s the formula for a winning team. If they’d displayed that kind of intensity on Defense we would have beaten GT and had a shot at Bama and UF.
This season is over and we are all happy with 10 wins. This doesn’t take Martinez off the hot seat. Next season will be a pivotal one for him (and Richt).

Ugly finish to an ugly year. 19 season ending injuries is one thing, but the turnovers and penalties are another.
It looked like more of the same yesterday with two turnovers and two personal foul calls by the end of the first quarter.
Lots of work to be done this off season.
The defense and OL should be much better next year. Now if we can find some disipline, imaginative play calling, and get our skill players to stay, next year should be a whole lot prettier.

Stafford looked like a deere in headlights against an average as grits big ten team.
thank GOD he was not playing a good SEC team or we would have been behind big time in the first half.
georgia was very lucky that we got michigan state instead of iowa. i think we would have lost.
we still have a team that at times is out of control. it reminds me of fsu!
we need more disciplined and better discisions by our players and coaches if we hope to take it to the next level.

Nice win against an inferior opponent. The defense played well to keep the team in the game until the offense stepped it up and dominated. The second half was really fun to watch. I do so love playing Big 10 teams! But in the end Michigan State would probably struggle to win half their games in the SEC and probably would be on par with, say, Kentucky. Still, it was a nice way to end the season.

What do I think? Well, for starters, this thread by Chip is horrible. Maybe a little more thought into an article in a major newspaper sports section? No Pulitzer prizes out of this department at the AJC. The topic of this thread is about as new as 2008.
Anyway, very avereage performance by the Dawgs. If the Spartans had been even a half way descent team, we would have lost. They were pathetic. Don’t read to much into our defensive performance. I still feel that Martinez has to do some serious changing and a personality paradigm shift.
Coaching in general, very average. How long is it going to take CMR to manage a clock(at the end of the half), and the I still feel that sometimes, our play calling fakes us out of our own shoes. Just freakin’ play straight up! For every successful 10 yard bubble screen, we have 8 bad ones.
So, our season was about what I thought. I told all my friends that we would loose 2-3 games, I didn’t think we would loose to who we did. The media, as always gets carried away and propelled the Dawgs up to No. 1, which was not deserved, and then all of the gullable UGA fans believe the hype and freak out.
Please, be real, UGA will loose 2-3 games again next year, while UF, ALA, LSU, will be competing for National Championships and we will be fighting Tech for State Champs!

It was great to see the defense finally step it up! The offense was poor in the 1st half & fair+ in the 2nd. There’s many adjustments & improvements needed within the off-season. I hope CMR/CRG recruit a couple JUCO stars for the defense. Even healthy, our D needs some help.
I’m thinking YOshown goes & Stafford stays. The OL will be awesome next season & he’ll have Green, Durham & Moore returning at WR. Chapas has good hands at FB & Figgins/White will be solid at TE. If we can stay healthy & Stafford &/or YOshown stay…I’m guessing 11-2 next season. GO DAWGS!!!

Reprint from Bradley’s blog.
First of all thank you to Georgia’s seniors who stuck around 4-5 years and won 40 games for the ol’ Red & Black.
I beleive the biggest weakness this year was leadership. Not necessarily from the coaches. Coach Richt should have learned some things about high expectations and how to deal with them from his days at FSU. I think there were some mistakes made by the coaching staff in their approach to this season that won’t be made again in the future. You play the way you practice and if you don’t practice full speed and practice tackling you will sleepwalk through the first half of games and you won’t tackle well. Georgia lacked good leadership from the players, especially on the defensive side of the ball. You need a strong leader on both sides of the ball, someone the other players can look to for strength when things are not going as planned. Can any of you out there tell me who those guys were this year? Nobody stands out to me. I think this lack of peer leadership as well as the lack of full speed practice led to some of our penalty problems, especially the late hit and interference penalties.
Which brings me to my next point, injuries. Not to make excuses, everybody has to deal with injuries, but come on!! Those 20+ players back healthy in 2009 will make a Huge difference.
Personally I want both Stafford and Moreno as well as Asher Allen back for next year. Their return along with Trinton Sturdivant and Vince Vance on the offensive side and Jeff Owens and Marcus Washington and a host of others on the defensive side of the ball should ensure Georgia another 10+ win season as well as a chance to compete for the SEC Championship and BCS beauty pagent.
Of those thinking of leaving which would have the biggest impact? I think Knowshon. He is a special player that only comes along once in a generation. Stafford leaving would hurt a great deal but remember, Peyton Manning didn’t win the National Championship for Tennessee, Tee Martin did, the year after Peyton left.
We will be preseason top 10 again next year. Here’s hoping that karma and team chemistry are better in ‘09 than ‘08.
Go DAWGS!!!

If Texas intercepts a ball near your sideline, just don’t punch out the player. Oh, you forgot that highlight in Buckeye history didn’t you? Go buckeyes, another day in the barrell. Georgia did play a good defensive game, but one must put this in perspective. Michigan State is a very mediocre team with a very average quarterback. Ringer is not as good as Knowshon. Compared to Stafford, the Michigan State quarterback has no arm. Michigan State has no receivers. If Michigan State had an offensive team, the story would probably have had a different ending. Fortunately, Georgia won the game but did not put the game away emphatically like it needed to. Not scoring a TD on their first possession set the tenor of the game for UGA……just another win against a lack-luster opponent.
Unfortunately, I saw nothing that indicates to me that either the defense or offense will be any better next season, particularly with Stafford and Moreno leaving. I can’t see anything better than a 2nd place finish in the East next year. Richt, in my opinion, has reached his maximum level of efficiency and productivity. Sadly, if UGA wants to advance to the next level, I am afraid Richt will not be the one to lead them to it.

Well I guess we will actually see when we play a lowly South Carolina team next year at home. I bet it will be another underachieving performance. UGA will either loose or eek out a win. The excuses will be flying…. Gamecocks always play us tough or we were breaking in a new QB and RB in their first SEC game. A win is a win in the tough SEC. Of-course that is if both Moreno and Stafford leaves and the previous comment would be either or. CMRs glare at the Michigan news reporter was him solely posturing that MSU was a very good team. Coach Richt doesn’t have enough confidence even for simple clock management for his team before halftime…pathetic!

Whats our excuse…… I’m afraid we will hear those excuses fly before the South Carolina game when we play Okie State. Our defense looked somewhat better yesterday but yes it should have and it was MSU. We still cannot run a successful gadget play. We run one, then the result was a fumble. This team lacks serious focus. Maybe coach Richt has the team hit the practice fields hard instead of the bowling alleys and the swimming pool.

dawginduluth, You may be right, I may be a Richt apologist. I just don’t know what I am making excuses for, is it the two SEC championships, or the best road record amoung active Div 1 coaches, or Richt’s winning percentage, again one of the best in the country. Maybe I should apologize for Richt building a program that lead the country in net profits for the university. I do apologize to you for going too far in my last post. To the person who attacked me without using a real handle. Not that it’s any of your business, I did not go to Orlando because both of my daughters, and my grandchildren, were home for the Holidays. I have been going to games in Athens since Wally Butts was coaching, I saw UGA, with Stanfill and Scott, lose to Arkansas in my first Sugar Bowl, and I was in the stands for the beatdown of the Warriors last year. That is about a forty year spread. I saw the infamous endzone dance in Jacksonville in person, and that game will stand out aoung all the UGA games I have attended over the years. I don’t remember much about Butts, I was just a kid at the time, but I was around during the Dooley years and I will say that Richt is the best coach that UGA has had in my lifetime. BTW, “why wasn’t you at the game”? Please! You must have gone to Tech!

Chip- Here’s hoping all players who want to play for UGA another year will be able to do so. Some of you go back and forth concerning Staff and Moreno. If you want them back, then let them know with letters and messagges to show your appreciation thus far. Above all of that? Then curl up like a kid who thinks pride has anything to do with letting players trail off into the sunset because they were underappreciated by fans who don’t have the guts to even call themselves “Dawgs”. Besides Cox, Gray and two newly recruited QB’s we have targets for them, runners of great capability and return of some of our best players on the lines. Most of the negative crud on here is not by Bulldog fans although they have played the part most of the year with their poster names. The anti-“Willie” remarks appearing here are not even fair-weather fans. Cynical remarks toward that end shows you not to be a true Dawg, just a spoiled complainer. Martinez and the defense had a good day and were instrumental in controling the score such that the O could get back into the game. They deserve as much of the game ball as anyone. Byrd showed up and contributed on plays that he had performed poorly on during some parts of the season. Several players demonstrated their abilities to a higher level than they have in other games. You could see the difference in their play. It should stop the anti-Martinez conversation if you paid attention. The players were right. They stated earlier that they were happy with their D coach and that they were not playing to their potential. They proved to me in this game that they were correct. MSU was no weak team(and I purely dislike that conference who we should dub “the little 10”) and played hard, tho dirty at times. They wanted it bad and played that way. Ringer wanted to beat Moreno ,but Martinez’s D prevented that. MSU concentrated on Moreno, but the offensive plan took most of that away with the screen passes to Moreno. Richt used Green sparingly to prevent aggravation of his groin pull, but earlier said he would play (in order that MSU had to prepare for him). All of those go together for a good game plan. Staff was off and didn’t deliver in the first half. The score could have been 21pts higher. So what! We won and didn’t use the sleazy “style” points, especially at the end. That is another b******* of college ball that was started by ESPN this year. Running up the points is never “stylish” in college and Richt continues to play the game with respect toward his opponent’s school. Get used to it or get off the fan wagon. It is not pro ball and some goons want to make it so. And some of you snuggle up to the college sports pundit thugs who are trying to influence this sport negatively and to their personal betterment. Not my school, thanks to Richt, who is a better COACH than the great PERSON he is.
If some of you consider that you are a fan and still want Richt or other coaches replaced, lets see how good that you think you are. Let’s get your insight as to who the coach would be if these coaches weren’t here. Don’t give me this VanGorder crap. Don’t name other SEC coaches and demonstrate what a weak fan you are. Name somebody so that we get a shot at your fuzzy thinking and true lack of football acumen. Some of you creeps make me sick pursueing low-ideal and poor representatives of other Universities as if they were god-like because they beat us this year. Think back one year . Where were they in your estimate last year when we beat them? I don’t include Paul Johnson in my rant. He is the type coach like Richt and others who keep college coaching creditable. And this rivalry will continue now as a rivalry of old where the year doesn’t even matter except UGA beating GT at the end of the year.
Uga VII- Thanks for your help in our wins over LSU, Tenn, Aub, So.Car and revenge over Vandy and Kentucky this year. It made this ole’ dawg happy and thankful. Now go beg the barrister’s daughter for a good reward of smoked pig’s ear for being a good and honorable son and grandson of great Dawgs. 10 wins make for a great start. GOOD DAWG!! WOOF,WOOF!!

i think the D finally showed what i could do, and i wonder, were the hell were these guys against uf, bama and tech. Moore had a great game and looks to be a great replacement for mo-mas. Next season looks good with a more experienced O-line, a D looking to make up for mistakes this year. Only real question is whether Stafford and Moreano are in the backfeild as well.

shane#1-Written like a true Dawg fan. After this game, some of the jerks are beginning to ID themselves as false fans. Some alums are just plain mad about how we lost those games this year. Folks, we gave them away for a reason that only the players know (and I think most of it was players’s fault) ie, Staff was off the entire FU game, special teams didn’t perform well and the entire team seemed inconsistent. It doesn’t really matter, most of us were embarrassed by the defeats because we are Dawg fans and we like to brag without our team making us look like fools. Well men, we should be grinding the stone finely for next year and quit trying to throw the baby out with the bathwater.
I was surprised also by not seeing our fullbacks brought into play. The pass to Moreno for the TD came the moment after I mentioned to my fellow watchers that it would be thrown straight down the middle to the fullback( the ole’ “Hobnail Boot” play). Before it is all over with, we will find out the extent of our injuries going into this game and how Richt faked MSU with announcements of Green and Southerland playing although they were too injured to practice this week. That would keep them busy looking. Before the game I blogged that the bowl team was no different than what we had played our last 4 games. That was correct.

During the first half Stafford’s play reminded me of Paul Crewe in the movie the “The Longest Yard”. It looked as though he was intentially throwing it away. Stafford has been a good quarterback just not a great one. In my opinion he should head to the NFL, maybe he can live up to his “billing” there. He sure hasn’t at Georgia.

Someone posted that Coach Willie was coaching as if his hair was on fire. So that is why he is bald. Man the things you learn on this blog.
Can’t wait for The Ohio Stake University to get their teeth kicked in on Monday. Must see TV. Hook’em Horns. Anyone know a good Dentist, gonna be plenty of sets of teeth to make on Tuesday. Maybe OSU can get the discount rate.

Oledawg….you are becoming old and senile my friend. Vangorder Crap? How about only 1 game he allowed over 30 points in 4 seasons. Buffoon Willie has 11 in 4 seasons. Yeah thats crap alright! LSU destroyed the youngest team in the ACC in their bowl game. Like it or not Les Miles, Nick Saban and Urban Meyer are hard nosed coaches. CMR is a good coach but isnt consistent enough to win the big game to get UGA up with the big boys. Yes UGA will lose to teams but most fans are sick on how we lose and for that matter on how we win. BTW I’m the biggest dawg fan you will ever meet but CMR needs to get it going.

FLA DAWG, We haven’t agreed on a few things but I will say this. By giving WM credit when he deserves it, you are 100 times more credible when you do critisize, than those who cannot give any credit. It really makes you wonder what thier real goal is. Yours and mine is a better looking UGA defense. Thiers? Who knows. Somebody paying for thier hurt little feeling I guess.

Congrats to Ole Miss, way to represent. Methinks Coach Nutt will be a stumbling block to more programs than the one in Gainesville. My hat is off to you Rebels, I consider Ole Miss fans to be some of the nicest people I have ever met and I am glad to see them get a bowl win. BTW, it seems the cracks about Big 12 defenses were correct, at least as far as Texas Tech and Okie St. Now for the hard part, Go Gators! Boy, that hurt.

AltamahaDawg,
I call it like I see it - sometimes I’m right and sometimes I’m wrong. I hope this is the beginning of a performance turnaround for the “D”. Nothing like a smashmouth, 6 sack game to end the season for an SEC Defense!
Big Time Congrats to Ole Miss. Wow! I was way off base on my prediction there. I guess I didn’t even hope for a win since it seemed so far out of reach. Man oh man The SEC is looking GOOD! And this is a Down Year!
I must admit though, I’d prefer one extra loss in The SEC to UF winning the NC. Spurrier got his tail kicked (though I truly respect those SC Players & Fans) but good. I hope the same happens to Urban M.

Dawgs still couldn’t put it together as a team for 4 quarters. Defense played solid — probably best performance of season or at least since ASU game. Was hoping Stafford would indeed bolt for the NFL at the half and Joe Cox would get a chance but glad to see #7 put it together in the 2nd half and ended the season on the right note. Mimbs 8 yard run on the botched punt attempt was longer than Ringer’s longest carry of the day (7 yards). Maybe Mimbs should have got a look or two at RB!!!! Mike Moore could be one heckuva WR next season! He’s had a great 2nd half of the season. Gonna miss MoMass but Moore could be the perfect replacement on and off the field. Would love to see what Moreno could do behind a healthy OL. Can’t wait to see what some of the young pups look like in spring practice!
Even though the season was a “disappointment” to most, another 10 win season and NYD bowl victory is something to be proud of especially with nearly 20 season ending injuries.
I’m still holding hope for mens bball to make a tourney run (we can hope can’t we) but know that the Diamond Dogs will be taking the field in several weeks and look forward to afternoons on Kudzu Hill! Can we start the countdown to Okie State?!?!

I invite all the Bama fans that gave us untold he11 on this blog to come to the altar of Dawgdom and humble theirselves. Oh what the heck am I saying, humble Bama fans. What an oxymoron. In the vein of hamburger steak and military intelligence. Hey I got the last one from a career army guy.
I never had anything against Bama until after the loss to Penn State for the MNC in 1982, 83 Sugar for those of you counting at home. On the way back to God’s country we had to cross the Bama wilderness. On more overpasses that I could count were signs reading Roll Tide, Burn Georgia Burn. Penn State National Champs. When we got to the state line, I had my friend stop the car and I got out. I was a pagan back then and I hurled every drudic curse I knew at the state of Alabama. Four months later the Bear died and I gave up my pagan ways and turned to the Cross and begged forgiveness. Karma is a b-tch Bama. Remember that the next time you open your toothless mouth.
Gotta hand it to the Nuttjob. What a great game, I am ticked I had to work and only caught the victory lap. Ole Miss, you made us proud.

An excellent come-from-behind win for Kentucky. Congratulations Wildcats.
BAMA - Congratulations on a damn fine season. No one (except me) thought you’d do as well as you did. You guys sure cleaned our clocks! I picked you boys to win big over The Utes and I sure underestimated Utah.
I saw the game and the postgame interview with Saban. Saban said Bama Players were not prepared for this game and he did not know why. Only afterwards did he give credit to Utah. Well, he got it backasswards. Bama just got beaten - period. And Utah has talent - did you see that speed!? Those guys came not just to play - but to WIN.
Tide Fans - Don’t feel too badly about that loss. In my humble opinion you lost to the best team in the country. They’re undefeated and just beat the second best team in The SEC. If I had a vote it would certainly be for Utah. They will be robbed of a National Championship Title because of the BCS. Yep, the BCS screws up college football yet again.

When Saban said he didn’t know why his team was unprepared he was probably telling the truth. When a team has their butts handed to them the coaching staff will have to go back and view the film to see what actually happended. They are too busy trying to stop the bleeding during the game to reflect on what went wrong. I think Utah gave the SEC a dose of it’s own medicine. ESPN was talking about the size and power of the respective lines for Bama, reminds one of the OSU hype before they were trounced by the Gators. We SEC fans sometimes believe that we have cornered the market in team speed, Bama learned what Messers White and Slayton taught the Dawgs, some of these other guys can be pretty fast too! I know that there is at least one Randy Moss hanging out on every street corner in Liberty City, but if there is another Slayton or White anywhere up north I am sure CMR would like an introduction. BTW, I think an opponents speed is one of the hardest things to prepare for in practice. You don’t have a Percy Harvin on the scout team!
By shane#1

Speaking off practice, the Hat showed real innovation when he had LSU’s scout team run Tech’s plays without the ball. The spread option uses a fast defense’s ball hawking abilities against it. What better way to break the ingrained habit of chasing the ball than practice without one. Every one learned to stay at home and stay with their man because they had no reason not to. I still haven’t decided if Miles is brilliant or merely insane.

A strange season. By all accounts, an undefeated team that beat the mighty Tide should be playing for number one. Or perhaps a team that beat the mighty Gators and put it to Texas Tech should be in the top five. On any given week, any team could win. UGA has a tough schedule next year, but it is more favorable as far as home/away. I think Richt is the greatest thing since sliced pie, but all said, UGA went 2-2. They beat UT and Auburn and lost to UF and Tech. Nice finish, I hope the rednecks will lay off, but many more 2-2 seasons and we will be making an equally stupid move like Auburn hiring Chizwick or Chicklet or whatever the heck his name is. The dogs looked good against MSU, but not great. They have the potential to look great. We will see what happens in the off season. By the way, either or both Stafford and Moreno going pro is definitely not the difference between a good and bad season.
