UGA blog finds new home
Morning all. As I’ve said a couple of times this week, we’re converting this blog over to a WordPress platform and it will be a permanent move the first of next week.
Those of you who are regulars probably know that I’m not what you’d call techno-wizard when it comes to these things. But from what I understand the technology offered in this new format should make the blogging and commenting experience better for all. Of course, I’ll be learning as we go along, too. But I’m hoping to provide more pictures and video and things like that which should bring the blog more to life.
Of course, this blog is nothing without all you guys so I want to heartily invite (read: beg) you to come over to the new site by CLICKING HERE ON THE NEW ADDRESS and save it in your browsers. As of Monday, Feb. 23rd, this will be the permanent home of the UGA blog you so love or, in the case of some of you, love to loathe. If you’d prefer to copy and paste or just memorize, the new address is: http://blogs.ajc.com/uga-sports-blog/.
See at the new place!

Hold onto your hats for this one
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Greetings from Jacksonville Municipal Stadium. It’s hard for me to get used to calling it that. For me it was the Gator Bowl for years and years. About the time I got used to Alltel Stadium, then they changed it to Jacksonville Muni.
No matter what you call it this place is going to be the venue for what projects as one of the greatest Georgia-Florida games ever. Unless one of the teams blows out the other, which I don’t expect, it should be a classic. The team whose defense plays better is going to win it. I think both offenses are pretty rock solid.
We’ll know several things when it’s over. We’ll know who’s probably going to represent the East in the SEC Championship Game at the Georgia Dome. We’ll know one team that is NOT going to be in the BCS title game and likely not even a BCS bowl. And we’ll know who is going to play on ESPN at 8 p.m. next Saturday. The network has said they’re taking the winner. The loser plays on Raycom at 12:30 p.m. (Alabama at LSU is on CBS).
A few observations:
Insofar as I can tell there will be NO red pants for the Bulldogs today. They’re warming up in silver britches. Equipment manager John Meshad played coy with me and said “you never say never” but other folks on the Georgia sideline told me it wasn’t going to happen. I, for one, am glad to hear that.
TE Tripp Chandler and LB Dannell Ellerbe are running around moving as if they’ll get plenty of action today. Chandler’s ability to block could be a big help if he’s close to full strength.
Coaches were making sure of know pregame shenanigans. Assistants for both teams formed a line along the 50 to defend against any possible spillover clashes at midfield.
The weather is fairly cool, certainly not as warm as predicted (mid 70s). Pretty windy so the coin toss could be a factor for the kicking game.
Michael Moore is wearing a #26 jersey in honor of Jacksonville native Tony Wilson, who couldn’t be here due to season-ending ankle surgery.
The Redcoact Band just ran on the field so that’s about it for now. Ask me anything you want and I’ll try to get you the answer. As usual I’ll be providing updates throughout the game.

Another missed oppportunity for a turnover because of a dumb penalty, just like Alabama game, and now florida scores on a wide open option play to harvin no defense in sight. Georgia better score on this position or this game could be over fast. The announcer are saying a misalighnment on Ga’s behalf, that defensive coordinator fault.

FINALLY BACK ONLINE
FLORIDA 7, GEORGIA 3
Sorry guys but the entire press box has lost Internet access here and I wasn’t able to get on via Verizon Wireless card until just now… .
I’m sure you’re watching on TV but Georgia just kicked a 35-yard field to make it 7-3. Walsh missed a 38-yarder earlier… .
Florida went up 7-0 after a couple of controversial calls by the officials. CMR challenged a spot that gave the Gators a first down early in the scoring drive. TV replays seem to show he was justified but officials overruled anyway. CMR was furious… .
Later, Prince Miller intercepted Florida on third down in Georgia territory. But the Corvey Irvin was called for hands to the head of the O-lineman blocking him. So instead of Dogs ball it was first and 10 at the Georgia 13. Percy Harvin scored on an option pitch two plays later.
An onsides kick attempt by Georgia failed and Florida took over at the Georgia 41. The Gators are third-and-goal now and about to score. So …

FLORIDA 14, GEORGIA 3
Tim Tebow scores TD on 1-yard plunge at left tackle. Gators go 41 yards in seven plays after Georgia’s onsides kick attempt fails. Florida went for the score from a 1/2 yard out on fourth down after Dogs stuffed them on third and one.
Dogs not lokking very polished so far with penalties, missed field goal, screwy plays. Need to tighten in up or going to get blown out.

BLAIR WALSH misses his second field goal of the game — this one a 27-yarder. This freshman from Tampa has really struggled the last three weeks… .

This is exactly what sucks about being a Georgia fan. Every year we wind up beating ourselves when the season is on the line. Every year. It will be the same next season. We will lose a game we are supposed to win, win a game we are supposed to lose, and then get crushed by Florida when we really need to step up. This is why we never get any respect. We are just flat out not good enough to compete with the best.

And yeah, Walsh is hurting us, but any Dawg fan with half a clue knew that this would happen when you have an 18 year old as your starting kicker.
Also, lay off the Defense. UF scored 42 first half points against UK. 14 against us. I think Willie Martinez has done a heck of a job so far today. Florida ain’t lighting it up. The D is playing just fine.

Everybody needs to calm down we are fortunate, with how bad they played, to only be down 14-3. Kenny Harris drops a perfect throw then Chandler and then Moreno. I would almost say they are too tight, maybe Richt should have done something to loosen them up. The defense has played well, so you can’t fault them and had Florida stopped on both scoring drives, bad calls by the officials. Hopefully they will just come out and play like there is no tomorrow in the second half.

Is there anyone on Dawg bench that can kick a field goal? Bench that loser of a placekicker. NOW! Big difference between 14-9 and 14-3. Matthew Stafford not sharp. Miss of wide open receiver in end zone unacceptable! Dawg running game pitiful. Onside kick? Big mistake. Momentum swinger! What is with these zebras? There WAS video evidence that Gator QB DID NOT make early first down. Big momentum play! Interception wiped out. Okay. Gators holding like Hell. Where are THOSE penalties> If Dawgs go bellyup in final two quarters they are finished this season. Wait till next year. As forever. Two losses will not get it done!

I think the reason UF hasn’t scored more is that they’ve been playing a more ball control offense. I look for them to open it up more in the second half. Martinez needs to be ready for UF’s adjustments.
Of course, this means our offense better start playing with the potential they have. My key to the game was for them to play solid, ball control offense and score in the red zone. We have not done it.

The offensive center for Florida “false starts” every snap! The officials should call it because the center is making a motion forward with his “off snap” hand every time! It has already caused a offside on UGA in a big play and causing the noseguard to flinch everytime. BS, call it!

FLORIDA 21, GEORGIA 3
Tebow scores untouched on a one-yard run around left end at the 7:51 mark of third quarter… .
TD set up by 88-yard interception return by Joe Hayden off a Matthew Stafford pass. Stafford severely under threw A.J. Green on a deep out route. Mohamed Massaquoi kept it from being a touchdown.
Dogs had driven nicely from the 2 deep into Florida territory before that.

Wow.What else could go wrong in this game. This is just so typical year in and year out for Georgia.Since like 2000 Georgia usually chokes a great season away.Sometimes its A early game.A ten game a Fla game.Etc.I appreciate thr fire and success that Mark Richt has brought since 2004.But championship teams are able to convert,Make fg,Limit mistakes and win during bigtime games. And georgia it seems is CHOKING once again. This kicker might do well down the road. But OMG..I love my DAWGS.But good you are.But not National Title material. And i have no idea what else we could do.We have a great offense. But for whatever reason.Blows big games..SHAME SHAME..Fla i hate to say it is playing well. Not great. But doing enough and capatilizing on Are mistakes.

Why is Matthew Stafford so well respected? He is the worst starting quarterback (QB who has played for the entire season) in the Mark Richt era.
Stafford’s decision making is terrible. It is not close to either David Greene or DJ Shockley. The sad statement about the Georgia faithful is the Dawgs actually booed Shockley for years. If you are going to boo DJ Shockley, Dawg fans should be throwing vegetables towards Stafford. It is a joke!
The play calling is ridiculous. Georgia wins when Georgia runs the ball practically every play. If Stafford is passing, Georgia is toast. This shows that Stafford is not quite as good as he is hyped to be.

Sure blown call. Sure Matthew Stafford throwing it behind the receiver (again) and putting it right in a Gator’s hands for an 85 yard TD return.
Now, Florida scores. Stafford throws it behind the receiver again. For goodness sake Coach Richt, put the football in Moreno’s hands. There is plenty of time left in this game. Give the ball to #24 and make Stafford throw short and quick passes.

I have never written in this blog or any other about the Georgia Bulldogs but I do remember the first time in 1964 when Georgia beat Alabama which was a big favorite at that time.
Mark Richt is a nice fellow by all accounts and winning football games is not as important as the prosperity of a nation but I really think that the President of the University should not ask us to watch games like this and should lower the ticket prices if he continues to put up below average programs. Obviously this nice young fella Stafford can throw the ball a long ways very fast but he is light years behind Johnny Unitas and the coach is not Vince Lombardi. It would not be so bad if the football team was just average and no publicity accorded them a real reputation as a winner which they are not. Is it really important that Georgia win a lot of games or is it more important they do not embarass the state with poor coaching and poor execution and mental preparation. The best thing now is let Stafford go to the pros and fail since he simply is not up to the mental process to succeed—some who think Elway maybe forget how Elway actually played.
The Bulldogs cannot block, cannot tackle, and we may still love them but please do not list this team as an elite team every again till they get a new coach and a new philosophy. If all are happy with mediority then keep Richt after all football is just a sport.

Outcoached - unless Willie Martinez’s defense gets a couple of gifts from the other team, they stink. Same old-same old.
And Mark Richt really ought to go to Urban’s camp next summer. Mark Richt has NO system, other than - “need somebody to make a play!”
Good coaches put good players in position to succeed. Mark Richt just recruits and tells them to ‘make plays.’

Tebow connects with Louis Murphy on a 44-yard TD pass. Murphy beat Georgia cornerback Asher Allen on the play. Murphy grabbed Allen’s early in the route which helped him get by initially but hard to tell if Allen could have stayed with him otherwise. Perfect on the money ball from Tebow.

Georgia should just opt out of the SEC , be like the Irish set up their own schedule be 12-0 every year.Put it like this if you walk to school every day an you have to go by the same bully’s house an he gives you a butt whooping every day you would change schools or find a different route to school since the SEC sets up the schedule there is not another route so opt out of the SEC. Florida should just stop playing college teams since their so much better than everyone else. Florida should just go pro then they could or might could have some competition.

I am not a Florida fan. And normally, two blatant non calls such as those would bother me, but today they don’t. They don’t because Mark Richt deserves every bit of misfortune that comes his way. Instructing your entire team to run onto the field after a TD to embarrass the opponent - are you KIDDING ME???? Ordering a “blackout” against a Nick Saban team to try and drum up some gimmicky intimidation? Whatever! Richt is an embarrassment to college fottball, and a used car salesman turned coach if I ever saw one. He will never be a big time coach like Saban or Urban Meyer. There must be a house cleaning at the end of the season. If Richt is not willing to making and move and surround himself with a couple of the best coordinators in the country then he needs to go. CMR is not a very good game coach so he must have great coordinators or you will get more seasons like this one. I agree with the others on the blog we don’t need to be hyped until we prove for several years that we are an elite program and can win the big games consistantly. Currently, we recruit good and play mediocre and are defined by undisiplined play with poor execution and very questionable play calling. It’s very frustrating to watch.

Dawg fans stop disgracing our proud institution by crying about the terrible officiating. Our problem exists at the quarterback position.
There is no doubt in my mind that Matthew Stafford is the worst quarterback to start in the Richt era. This guy can’t hold Greenie’s or Shcckley’s jockstrap. His decision making is horrid!!! To imagine Georgia legends like Fran Tarketon and Herschel Walker had to beg unsavory eliments of the Bulldog Nation to stop booing Shockley. Someone needs to boo Stafford.
I am tired of guys saying that Stafford is teh best pro-style QB in the nation. There are, at least 5 Big 12 QBs, better than Stafford (and I love the Dawgs).

Let’s see, last UGA scores one TD and storms the field and acts like they liberated Berlin in 1944 - Richt offers only “Ah shucks” platitude apologies. This year UF is handing it to UGA in a way I haven’t seen in the SEC for a long time and UF hasn’t as much peeped once. Not a single peep. I hope UF keeps the first string in all game and beats you UGA babies so bad it makes your gums bleed. You were so cocky all summer and this is what you deserve. Richt and all of his teams are crass and classless and now you are being ground to butter on national TV. At the rate this game is going (and after that Bama pasting you took) it will take 5 years for UGA to be taken seriously again. Good riddance.

This really is ridiculous. Does anyone have any theories on why Georgia completely tanks in big games? We showed up last year but UFs defense was severely overmatched.
If we come into a game evenly matched with a team and get a couple bad calls, our whole team gives up and start moping around.
I’m honestly ashamed of the Dawgs right now. No effort whatsoever. They just want to get off the field and take a shower.

Execution, Mistakes, execution, mistakes…please do not blame bad calls on this loss. I’ve said it before and I will say it again…we do not know how to play a COMPLETE game much less a complete season. LSU was as close of a complete game as we have played all season. We have glimpses of grandeur only to be let down with a loss of focus. We gave FLA some points, but we’ve got to execute on all phases of the game for 60 minutes. I still love the DAWGS, but this is frickin embarrassing.

This is ridiculous. We are getting outcoached, and outplayed. I read a post that says we have overrated recruits, that my friend is not true, the recruits are fine, it goes back to coaching. Ask Spurrier what players he’d rather have, because at Carolina, he does a lot more, with a lot less, same with Paul Johnson. A-Hole coaches win titles. Spurrier, Meyer, Carroll, Saban, Parcells, Belichick, Jimmy Johnson, Phil Jackson, Pat Riley, etc. Unless Richt finds a mean streak, and the balls to fire Bobo and Martinez, we’ll be close, but no cigar.

With this announcement we officially begin the 29th consecutive season of the “RECRUITIN’s WHAT ITS ALL ABOUT, WAIT TIL NEXT YEAR” Association. Some ground rules, please: 1. We do not project next years entire lineup until after midnight tonight. 2. As UGA moves on once again to the # 1 recruiting class, do not comment about the fact that only four QB’s have played a single down for the past 7 seasons. Even though Stafford is still in the process of giving away another one, WE NEVER PLAY A SECOND QB AT UGA. 3. We will petition the NCAA to allow 200 players next season so we can go after more great recruits. Thank you. This meeting is now officially open.

I’ve seen Georgia play twice this year. They were down by 31 to Alabama before the pizza got delivered, and now they’re down by 32 to Florida and I haven’t even ordered the pizza yet.
Seriously, you can’t talk about a national championship in Athens ever again. Whoever voted UGA preseason Number 1 should be forced to watch Notre Dame football on NBC every week. From what I’ve seen, this year’s Dawgs don’t even deserve the Independence Bowl this year. They should be sent up to Idaho to play on the blue field, but they’d probably lose to Boise State, too.

Whenever Mark Richt and his coaching staff shows the players that they have more confidence in them they will start winning these games. This game was there for the dawgs, but the play calling did not inspire any confidence in the players. Imagine 1st and 10 at the 10 of Florida, then two bonehead calls, we missed the field goal. On the ensuing play for some unknown reason Richt tried an onside kick giving the ball to the Gators in excellent field position. If anyone told me the Dawgs would perform this ugly I would not believe, and would almost bet all my possessions. Richt needs to start coaching, get coaches who can coach up the players, and call better plays on game day, you are getting very good talent there, the results should be better. Second, to Coach Richt and the staff, I have to say that this year has been the worst effort I have seen by the staff since Coach Richt became head coach. This game and the Alabama games were not just losses; they were embarrassments. The play calling, the decision making, the penalties, the defensive schemes, etc. have been pitiful. I hope that all of the coaches will take a hard look at themselves in the mirror after this season is over and re-dedicate themselves to making Georgia a contender in the conference again.

I can not believe that Georgia fans are blaming the coaching staff. If we had a quarterback, we would not be getting our rear ends handed to us. The sooner Matt Stafford declares for the NFL Draft, the better. Then he can hold a clip board and be someone else’s problem.
In his career, Georgia has won big games when another player (i.e. running back or superb defensive effort). This guy is pathetic.
I am shocked that these commentators from CBS are comparing this guy to Brett Favre. Are you kidding me?
If we can point a finger at the coaches, we can point a finger that asks why Georgia fails to line up Moreno, King, & Samuel and run the ball every play. Stafford is most effective as a play action QB who passes about 10-15 times per game.

We keep talking about execution. It is a problem. But UGA’s game plan is, as I’ve said time and time again, is the real problem. Our guys have to play against our coaching too.
I know…if they execute the coaching doesn’t look so bad…but the play calling is not aggressive enough. I think that’s why our guys play flat. We are running a smash mouth offense without the smash mouth players. When you play two wide receiver sets you have to have elusive receivers who can get open consistently. The coaches are not giving us the best chance to win.
Play calling…gameplan…adjustments…we have failed in all those areas.

The best college football coach that I have ever seen is Paul Johnson when I was a graduate student at Georgia Southern in their aports management program.
Georgia fans better get ready to be made an example of by Georgia Tech. If Mark Richt is going to let Matthew Stafford throw the ball all over the field, Paul Johnson is going to expose our Dawgs.
You heard it from me. Why doesn’t Richt give someone else a chance. I’d like to see the kid from Missouri.

I think Bobo and Richt have to take a long look at themselves. Calling an onside kick that early…stupid. 2nd and 2 on the 10 and don’t score…stupid. Unimaginative play calling…stupid. Discipline not established…stupid. Believing the Dawgs would show up in this one…stupid. The thing is…I learn from my mistakes.
By BCS Slave

There are two things going on here that need to be pointed out.
Our team blew it. Our coaches blew it.
With that said, this game was a continuing story that has been a part of UGA’s season. The officiating…the number of penalties…has been unusual for a UGA team. As I have said all year…I think the celebration cost us with the stripes. The disparity in yards and calls between UGA and other teams is so wide…I believe we are right to question it. The no calls we’ve seen and the crucial calls against UGA that were questionable have been obvious.
I hope that UGA will look at a coaching change. Our offense is too simple…too predictable. Our defense has not been aggressive when it needs to be. Our coaches have not been able to adjust to anything the other teams do at half time. This is coaching pure and simple. This too is a continuing story that needs to be addressed.

Georgia was outplayed and out coached today. Bad plays called by Bobo and bad throws by Stafford. Florida came out wanting the win more. To EagleNationRising, the Favre comparisons are probably pretty accurate, think about it. Big arm, can make all the throws, but has the tendency to throw the game away. Favre is either great, or terrible, not much middle ground, same with Stafford, one week he’s looking like elway in 97, this week he looks like an old Brett Favre(pick a year, lots of int’s to choose from). He needs a better qb coach and offensive coordinator, how quickly we forget that Bobo wasn’t a very good quarterback, he was mediocre on his best day. Eagle you are very correct in your assesment that they need to run the ball more to set up play action, I agree totally. But, it’s not the end of the world, just an embarrassing loss to a well coached and very motivated football team. Can’t knock Florida. And people, quit blaming the refs, yes, they missed some calls, but players play, coaches coach, and refs ref. We didn’t play well, and we didn’t coach well, just chalk it up as an L and keep it moving.

That is always the way Urban Crier coaches. He ran it up against Miami too. The celebration last year had nothing to do with it. That is Urban “Classless” Crier for you.
I think we need a change in coaching. I’ve not said that before, but this is the time to think about it. We’ve had top five recruiting classes and still we don’t have the players to run this offense we’re running. That is coaching.

If this game is not proof that Martinez MUST go and BOBO as well then mark richt needs to be fired today. Under ray goff we were this good always lose to florida and beat enough teams to get a decent bowl game. Until either Richt is fired or he gets some go-nads and fires martinez and gets Muschamp and chitcans BOBO we will never go any further than we are now. Always outcoached, no balls, undisciplined, but hey Richt has formed a bowling leaque for the team and we can’t forget that annual trip to the pool with the team as a reward for hard work, great coaching, and good game plans. Richt sux as a head coach and needs to go now!

Dog fans,
A tough loss, no doubt. During the big games, we do this. Why?
For all of you who are apologists for our coaching…you can’t say this was about execution alone. Something else is missing. It is not about talent…we’ve got enough talent to compete.
What needs to change here?

Hate to say it…but I am reminding my friends that I never bought into the #1 stuff. Today, again, proved me right. We play bad teams(SC, UT, Van) and let them hang around all game. We play good teams and get crushed.
Our D-line is AWEFUL. Been that way all year—before the injuries. Injuries just made it worse. TIME FOR MARTINEZ TO GO!!! Our poor D has put too much pressure on the O and made us run a desperate offense that we just can’t run the whole game. Again…TIME FOR MARTINEZ TO GO!!!!

Richt’s team is an embarrassment and Meyer just rub his nose in it. The man does not demand excellence from his player’s and it shows. Do you the think the top coaches in the country would allow this twice from their team’s in just 9 games? There are 4 or 5 better coaches in the SEC and we have the worst coordinators in the league - great combo

I’m a Georgia fan, always have been. But, as I and some others have been saying, Richt will not, cannot win at the highest level and beat big time teams in big games. Nor will they ever win a national championship with Richt at the controls. An onside kick while the game is still in doubt!!!! A pass to Moreno in the end zone when Moreno is not known as a good pass receiver!!! Richt showed the nation again, why Georgia is not respected around the nation. Two enbarassing blowouts in big, big games on National television for all the world to see. Top recruiting classes for the past five to seven years and not even one appearance in the National championship game. IT’S TIME TO LET MARK RICHT GO!!!!! Unless you’all are satisfied with just being average!!!!!!!!!

I still believe that this Georgia team was good enough to win this game, I would not argue about the Alabama game, as Bama was too physical for the young offensive line. However one could argue that Sturdivant went down before the season started and Richt had time to find a replacement, who was #2 on the depth chart behind Sturdivant and did that player not moved up to fill that void instead of moving everybody on the Oline and still moving people after six games? All of that is on Mark Richt and points to a an indecisive coach. I beg for the day that we have more reliable OC and DC, Bobo and Willie Martinez just don’t get it, their play calling is atrocious. It is time Richt leave all the nonsense to the media and the fans and coach up the team instead of all the gimmicks about black out and all red uniforms. If Mark wants to reach the upper echelon of college coaches he has to stop this nonsense of paying so much attention to the media, voting and the gimmicks. He also needs to get coaches to coach up the team, I am tired of losing to these guys.

Urban Myer, Jim Tressel, Pete Carroll, Mack Brown, Mike Stoops…..Mark Richt????? I don’t think so!!! He will never be mentioned or thought of on the same level as the aformentioned coaches. Heck, Mark Richt is probably laughing at the easy money Georgia is overpaying for such an average job. CBS ran a graphic that Georgia, under Richt’s tenure, is only 15 and 14 when trailing at halftime!!!!! Which means that he is incapable of making necessary adjustments or the opposing coaches makes better adjustments!!!! Thought I’d throw that in for you bamboozled Dog fans who are always touting his record. Sure he’ll beat Miss., Miss State, Arkansas, Vandy, Kentucky, and sometimes Auburn or South Carolina, but he can’t win against great teams at critical/meaningful times. Thus, again the reason why Georgia is just an afterthought/average team that will contnue to not being respected as a big time program. PERIOD!!!!!!! It’s so embarassing to be hyped by the local/regional media or fan base and fall flat on our faces/asses every year!!!! Get rid of Richt and get someone like PAUL JOHNSON!!!! Dog Fans,
I hope Mark Richt is a changed man after this game. I love him for his faith. I love his approach to life. I just wish he would change his approach to football. Football is a game. It can be played with class while still having a killer instinct.
I know…CMR doesn’t want to humiliate players on other teams. I understand. But there comes a time when you have to do something to keep your own players from being humiliated. You have to give them the best chance to destroy other teams without acting like Urban “Classless” Crier. It can be done.
Richt needs to make the following changes for next year:
Stop talking to the media. Don’t talk to them next week…or next year.
Coach like you have a chip on your shoulder. You have something to prove each and every week. Never be satisfied with your performance or the performance of your team.
Either find a new defensive coordinator or allow Willie to call a more aggressive game. We won’t get the big time defensive players running the scheme we did this year.
Make scoring points a passion. Run the I and the spread. Run the no huddle. Make us two or three dimensional.
I know the season is not over. But the way the defense played to close the game…it looks like it is. Let’s just hope we can win the rest of our games and punish some teams as we do it.
Please don’t respond to trolls. Ignore them and they will go play on their own blogs. Tip your cap to UF, but don’t respond to UF fans (and Yech fans) moronic chatter.

To GeorgiaBoy You have a lot of class my friend, Georgia was just outplayed today as last year they outplayed Florida. Every team has bad games and this was the worst time for Georgia to have one but Georgia has a great team and a great future ahead. I do tend to blame Georgia’s play calling more than anything the players might have done, but the missed field goals were very big as they set the team so far back that passing instead of using Moreno was the option and the Gators sat on that and could play ball control from then on. I’m a fan of both these teams as they both have super players and great coaches. I wish the best for both of them in future and hope to see a closer game next year.

Play calling is dismal. I like BoBo, but he really seems like a freshmen play caller with senior talent. Too many times GA falls short on 3rd down due to some off the wall play call. His play calls leaves the offense looking confused.
The defense just sucks. No two ways about it, absolutely horrible. I blame an inept coach for not preparing his defense, and not teaching them class.

Dawg fans, you heard it here first…the fix was in. We were not going to let UGA get away with embarassing us from last year, so we sent that great Ga hater, Penn Weathers, and his cracker-jack team of the worst officials in NCAA to Jax. Their calls and non-calls in the first 18 minutes set the stage for a good a$$ whoopin’. Of course, Willie and Bobo made it a lot easier. Why and how can Damon Evans and March Richt allow these us to officiate any of their games. I guess it’s all about the money. Anyway, UGA surely didn’t help its cause. Stafford is the worst come from behind quarterback to have ever played the game, and that’s what the we (officials) were counting on. Peace.

Good win for the gators. Urban Meyer showed us what he’s all about with his pathetic time outs at the end. That’s fine, they won fair and square and are most certainly the better team. Dawgs got lots of talent but not alot of magic on this team and the magic is usually the difference maker when everyone else has talent too.

Nice. Ga. celebrates in Fla. endzone up 7-0 in the 1st period in front of all of their jean shorts wearing, mullet haired red faced idiot fans. Urban Meyer calls 2 timeout in the final 44 seconds in front of a handful of Ga. fans, with the game already determined. COWARD!!! I guess we see who has the guts and who does not. Give Fla. credit for the win, but do not forget that 21 points were GIVEN to them. That was even acknowledged by an unbiased commentary. You turn Ga. 1 dimensional and force them to put the ball in the air, and sure, a team with Florida’s talent will dominate. Momentum is HUGE in this game, and Florida got it with the help of the refs. Including the chain gang ref that was high fiving Tebow at the end.

31-0 at the half?!!!!!
Well Dog fans … I TOLD YOU SO!!!!
My prediction was 51-3 - I was pretty darn close.
Why did I predict the blow out?
1) Richt is not that good of a coach - in big games - he trys to get cute.
Just like this game. 2nd down and 3 deep inside Florida territory - score 0-0. Got Cute - Got burned.
On sides kickoff - got cute - got burned.
2) Uga is a STUPID team - makes mistakes at the worst time.
UGA helped Bama on our first two drives with STUPID penalties - thank you very much.
UGA got STUPID again today - negating #23’s interception.
3) Freshman Field goal kicker choked.
4) Red Zone Offense mediocre
5) Uga defense is not physical - your defense had way more upperclassmen than Florida’s O-Line - and got whipped!!! Please keep Martinez as your DC!!!!!!
6) Flordia and Alabama have the best coaches in the SEC - by a wide margin.
If UGA could not win the SEC with Stafford, Moren0, Green, Massaqua, etc - you will not win the SEC unitl Saban and Urban have moved on.
Bama or Florida is going to win the National Title this year.
How far away is UGA from competing against National Title caliber teams?
Answer - 31-0 at the half against Alabama…….49-10 against Florida.
Looks like Ray Goff time in Athens!!!
Ha ha ha - ROLLL Tide!!!!

You folks can call each other names or what ever you think will keep UGA fans from a big dose of reality. But I’m about to give you a dose. Fire Mark Richt. Fire him and pay him off and let him go coach for Indiana, Perdue, Utah State or somewhere that can except 8 or 9 wins every season. Folks, that’s all he’ll ever give you. He’s another Vince Dooly. He won one National Championship when he should have won at least 4 or 5 with the players he had. Coach Richt is a great man. He’s a good family man and he’s never had any kind of problems off the field in the community and he’ll make one of the best AD for any college he might would go to. But he lacks that intangible that makes him an also ran year after year. He has this cliche’ that he uses for his team that he can’t quite do for the big game….. He can’t finish his own drill folks. So Damon Evans needs to start his search now. He can find that one coach that can come to UGA and then and only then can the Bulldog Nation have it’s National Championship every 3 to five years. I’m sorry Coach Richt cause I like you but unless you make some changes in not only your coaching staff but your coaching DNA you’ll never give UGA what they want so bad.

I wonder sometimes why it takes some, maybe most, people to see the light. Anybody who wasn’t blinded by BullDawg loyalty and who has analyzed each play of each game would have known that at the beginning of the season we should have been ranked somewhere around 12-15….not number 1 by any stretch. And even as late as a couple of days ago many bloggers, and a certain AJC writer, were saying that Stafford was as good as Tebow and they thought UGA had a good shot at beating Florida. Please. I hate to admit it, but Stafford cannot hold Tebow’s jockstrap. He can’t take control of a big game and guide us to victory. The game controls him. How many times today did we run three plays for a few yards and then gave up the ball? As I have said all season, when Stafford throws the long ball, I just cringe because the odds of completing it is about 1 in 10. Yes, Green did catch a long one, but it was an exception rather than the rule. Richt should tell, no, order Bobo and Stafford to NEVER throw another long ball. Crap. And a lot of you bloggers seem to finally be beginning to see the light about CMR. As some of you have noted, he is a mild mannered, nice guy, but the a**-hole coaches like Spurrier, Saban, and Myer are the ones who will win you a championship. CMR, as I have said before, will always win against the lessor teams and get us a record of maybe 8-9 wins per season, but he can never win against the teams that are equal in status to us. It’s like a high school coach in AAAAA who can beat the AAA schools but not another AAAAA school. Crap. I’m frustrated.

I’ll be relatively nice since no one else on this board is, but what goes around comes around. Being a Gator fan in GA is not fun, but after listening to all the crap all year, this was excruciatingly superb payback. Maybe Mark Richt will get the message that games are not won by unsportamanlike celebrating. GA fans got to see the real Tebow this year, unlike last year when he could barely raise his right arm. Teabag, as you dawgs like to call him, made a nice cup of tea today. Go Gators!

I’m really, really smart. I have multiple degrees from NORTHERN schools, but I’m living in Georgia and love the PUPS. I think everyone posting on this board should be required to state their allegiance to a college football program and give the details of their degrees; who granted them and what area of expertise.
Given my obvious intelligence, let me emphasize that UGA actually is better than the Gators based on the last 10-12 recruiting classes. The game today was a fluke. We will definitely whip their but##### next year!! Go puppies!!!!!

Beau, you hit it on the nose. Richt is the nicest guy you can meet, but he does not have the fire in him to get in your face, go Terminator, and smack the opponents in the face. That is how his players play, just like his coach.

This was a tough game to stomach. A few breaks went Florida’s way and it snowballed from there. I like Tony Barnhart’s way of saying what we learned this week.
Urban Meyer is a douchebag. I would never want that man to be my coach. CMR is a great guy who is still getting better as a coach.
We will learn a lot about our team by how they bounce back and finish this season. This is when GA needs their fans to help pick them up even more.
Why Tech fans get on this blog and talk trash when we are not playing them is beyond me. We’ll see you in a few weeks. Until then, owrry about NC next week.

Why didn’t the GA Players storm the field and dance in the end zone after finally scoring in the 4th? That move last year may turn out to be the dumbest coaching move ever - now if we can just keep the team out of jail between now and the Tech Game, we might whip those Jackets. Maybe we can dance then - oh I’ve got an idea, let’s have a Black Out. Maybe we should quit the stupid tricks and play some football

I would want that liar and wuss Mark “THE PRICHT” Richt as my coach either. He’s a bold face liar who can’t coach.
I guess beating a team thoroughly in every aspect of the game and taking time outs at the end is a douchebag. BUt sending the whole team to dance in the endzone isn’t?
No wonder Richt is considered average!!!

No, GATORS you’re the joke. Your coach is just as much a joke as Bobby Petrino is. He lucked into the Championship by getting OSU. If he gets USC that year, UF goes home beat down. Example? Look at last year’s bowl game. He got out smarted by Lloyd Carr. That tells you that your Gators won’t win another one. So shut your pie hole unless you can bring something to this column that’s worth looking at. Oh by the way, how long did it take him to find his RB? Half a season. By that time Houston Nutt had his way with your over-grown lizards. Believe me, Saban will stomp a mud hole in UF’s rear end when he gets them in the GA Dome.

Dawg Fans,
This is a tough loss to swallow. I know because many of you are not here today. We are all feeling like crap. But we need to face it. We need to open our eyes and see the truth.
I have never called for anyone’s job before this week. But now it is clear. Something has to change. We top five recruiting classes and this is what we get? Something is missing.
I think we have a good head coach. He has brought stability to our program. We can win 10 - 12 games a year every year. The problem is that we can’t seem to win the really big games. CMR is nice. He has a great philosophy for life.
What is missing is fire…creativity…aggressiveness. Richt is a great head for a program. He offers a classier alternative to the jack a..es with LSU, UF, and Bama. However, he fails as a motivator. And he is failing as a game planner too.
We have played the same ball control offense all year. Even when the game dictates a change…we stick to it. We don’t seem to be able to go down field very often. That threat is the only thing that will force teams to take 8 men out of the box to play more pass coverage. We are one dimensional and that is a HUGE strike against us.
Our defense is the same. One dimensional. Predictable. Bend but don’t break. Play steady and take no risks. That is stike two against us.
Strike three is our uninspired play calling and lack of ability to show any credible ability to make in game adjustments. Are our player so bad that the coaches have to keep it so simple? I’d say not. Our coaches are just married to their philosophy…win or lose.
I think it is time for CMR to look at replacing the OC and DC. He needs to hire his alter ego.
Van Gorder was an aggressive coach and look at how powerful that defense was. They were not the best talent wise but they played above their abilities because it was an aggressive, attacking defense.
Bobo calls plays like a Richt clone. Maybe Richt is holding the reigns too tight. If so, he needs to let Bobo call the games without interference. If Bobo is doing that…he needs to be fired. He is losing the battle with opposing coaches.
I know one thing for sure…we can’t take many more of these kind of disappointments. Richt needs to step it up as a coach and address these problems.
