UGA blog finds new home
Morning all. As I’ve said a couple of times this week, we’re converting this blog over to a WordPress platform and it will be a permanent move the first of next week.
Those of you who are regulars probably know that I’m not what you’d call techno-wizard when it comes to these things. But from what I understand the technology offered in this new format should make the blogging and commenting experience better for all. Of course, I’ll be learning as we go along, too. But I’m hoping to provide more pictures and video and things like that which should bring the blog more to life.
Of course, this blog is nothing without all you guys so I want to heartily invite (read: beg) you to come over to the new site by CLICKING HERE ON THE NEW ADDRESS and save it in your browsers. As of Monday, Feb. 23rd, this will be the permanent home of the UGA blog you so love or, in the case of some of you, love to loathe. If you’d prefer to copy and paste or just memorize, the new address is: http://blogs.ajc.com/uga-sports-blog/.
See at the new place!

Dogs’ performance good enough for Gators?
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Well, what did you think about that? Great win or much to work out before Florida?
Obviously it was big to beat LSU on its home field, as Georgia did 52-38 Saturday night here in Baton Rouge. Dogs now 28-4 on the road under coach Mark Richt. But the Tigers sure did make it scary late in that game after getting down by 21, ripping down the field for one score and getting down there deep before turning it over on downs with five minutes left. I know from comments in the in-game blog a lot of people weren’t happy with the way the defense was playing and complaining about more dumb penaIties.
So the good news: Obviously Georgia’s offense was able to move the ball against LSU, which I thought it would be able to do but not to that extent. The Bulldogs had 443 yards in the game — the third straight of 425 or more — and that’s after they kind of pulled back late trying to kill some clock. Another big game for Knowshon Moreno, who finished with 163 yards and a 68-yard touchdown. Matthew Stafford, who was 17-of-26 for 249 yards and 2 TDs, played an NFL-type game with big throws on big downs against big pressure. O-line was shockingly good against a great defensive front.
And while Georgia gave up a lot of yards on defense, it also made a lot of big plays. Three interceptions, two of them returned for touchdowns by linebacker Darryl Gamble. I’ve forgotten the name of the guy he backs up (joke there). But I’m sure Florida, which won 63-5 against Kentucky on Saturday, is looking at the 497 yards the Bulldogs allowed and getting excited about the possibilities.
Said Gamble after the game: “We aren’t Kentucky.”
Well, let’s hear it. Georgia-Florida is less than a week away!

Thanks Chip
Nice to have a backup linebacker like gamble. Thought everyone played a great game. Penalty against Justin Anderson in the 4th should have been called on both teams and maybe coaches will have mercy on him this week in pratice. O-line played a nice game. I think coach Serals is the best coaching adjustment CMR has made since he came to UGA. Thanks again Chip

Great offensive game as far as big plays but we had better start controlling the ball more because our defense was on the field entirely too much down the stretch, these guys were exhausted. That prevent defense is a joke all it does is allow the other team back into a game.

It was not that close. Let’s hear how the national yahoos will make this out. We lose to bama by 10 at home and beat lsu by 14 on the road. I bet we’ll hear how we had to hang on to win. Please.
We dominated this game in every aspect. We didn’t show all our cards before the florida game idiots.

What an offensive performance. Big plays from Morneo,Green,White,Goodman,MoMass, the list can go on and on.
The defense just got caught in a track meet. LSU has so many skill position players that can take it to the house at a moments noticed and they showed that. Gamble will NEVER have a bigger game than today.
Who is whining now?

Good win, offense played great but defense was sloppy and out of position in many instances. It scary to think of Florida to come after giving up 38 to LSU. I think Martinez is a poor coach and with proper coaching we would be playing much better on D.

Great win for the dawgs even though I wish we could have tackled better. I wonder whether our injury situation didn’t allow us to go after it hard in practice defensively because we just plain couldn’t tackle today. However a win is a win, especially against the defending champs at Baton Rouge.

Great performance by our O line and the entire offense. The D is very suspect to me. I am afraid Florida will rip us for a lot of points if we can’t find a way to hunker down.

The glass is half empty, eh, Big Dawg? Give it a rest. So many complaints all week (especially about Bobo and OC WM - who were great) and all the Dawgs did was DOMINATE LSU at LSU. As for Florida, I don’t care what the team or fans have to say this week, they are concerned… I guarantee it. May the best team win next week, and we all know who that’s going to be… it’s Moreno… he’s at the 30, the 20, the 10… Go Dawgs… it’s Green… my God, a Freshman! Go Dawgs… Go Dawgs… Go Dawgs…

a win is a win next stop jacksonville either you on it or u ain’t… say what u want but 52 in baton rouge is a statement regardless the D stopped when they needed a stop… #7 finally realized he has a plethora of receivers and “spreading the wealth” along with #24 doing his thing. at 10 different receivers caught the ball not including the fr king and troupe…usc schedule to weak to make it if the computers do what they supposed to do…. obama in 08 and 12

Big win. Finally the O looked like it had a killer instinct. The D is missing too many tackles. We played against a great Oline, and were able to pressure LSU’s QBs into mistakes. I think our pass rush is starting to come on. All and all it’s a big win for us. Our Oline is finally starting to gel, and we are racking up big plays. Expect a shootout next week UGA 49- UF 45. I agree with the previous post regarding the personal foul call on Anderson- it should have went both ways..
Offense gets an A Need to control the ball more… Defense gets a B- yes they were in a track meet. Kicking game gets a B- We covered well, but kicking out of bounds late was not good…

Excellent game DAWGS!! The most complete game we have played all season…a little sloppy towards the end but luckily it didn’t matter. Personally, if I had been LSU I would have given Scott the ball another 20 times, and I think the score would have been much closer. I was surprised that they were able to run the ball on our D as well as they did. Like someone else said, Tebow is a real threat this year (vs. when we played the Gators last year and he was only at maybe 60%). It should be a great game in J’ville. GO DAWGS!!!

The offense gets an A + today. The defense except for those INT’s looked awful, I give them a D. So what you want about Willie Martinez, but it was his players that were stinking up the field today. I can’t tell you how many missed tackled I saw out there today. 38 points is WAY too much. LSU may be a 2 time National Champion but the Dawgs have OWNED them in the last 3 meetings! 45-16, 34-14, 52-38: that’s just nasty.
All in all, it was a nice win on the road. But now comes the real test. Bring on the Gators.

Offense played well enough to beat LSU but needs work to compete with Florida….
Defense is a disaster… If CMR allows idiotic, incompetent, unmotivated, sloppy defensive play and defensive play calling by the DC against Florida… it will all be over but the crying… FL will go on to play in another Nat’l title game and we get to pay CMR another $2 million or whatever for another substandard season and wasted talent…

My concerns are that GA got too predicable with 5mins left in the game. Only running it up the gut, even with third and long. Is CMR the only coach that doesn’t keep the accelerator on the floor? It seems that he tries to not impress the pollsters. The last three games we have kept our opponents in the game by not going full speed. thoughts???

Gators will be a little too much for Dogs. You saw the run after the catch by Lsu. Multiply that by 3. Martinez continues to let offenses out scheme him in the middle of the field. Florida doesnt care if the dawgs stop there run. They play another brand of football. Florida is better that they were 12 months ago and Georgia is not as good as 12 months ago. Game over.

Am I the only one who hates the defensive philosophy of Martinez? I hate the prevent defense! I pull another hair out (yeah, I’m bald now), every time we have a team in third and long and I see three lineman set up. It seems the opposing team converts way too many third and long plays. I swear it conditions the defensive players into passive play in these situations and takes away the normally aggressive talent we have on the field. The defensive coaches play too much to not lose vs putting games away early when they can. This game should have never been close at all in the fourth qtr.

Big strong backs. I will say it again. Big strong backs. Our D is built on speed. We have BIG toubles with BIG backs. Now, tell me ONE RB on Florida’s offense that is comparible to Charles Scott. UGA D owns spread offenses, and not so much on power offenses. I feel like I have to educate every freaking weak.

The Offense played extremely well against a tough LSU Defense. Anyone see how well Southerland played!? Yep, he is back - and just in time to enjoy a win over The Gators.
I’m not too pleased with the yardage and points our Defense gave up though. Martinez calling a three man front prevent when LSU had it on our 30!? What the heck is with that?
We cannot allow 500 yards when we play UF and I don’t believe we will. I think we will see a solid Defense that will hold UF to far fewer yards than they’ve been getting lately.
Congratulations Big Dawgs!

Chip-The point here is that this win vs LSU in their house is a better win than FU had over LSU at FU. FU’s road record ain’t near Richt’s and they both are on the road this week in Jax.
I said it before, neither LSU’s nor FU’s defenses can stop UGA. Boy, am I looking forward to next weekend. THIS IS A DIFFERENT TEAM THAN AT SEASON”S START. They answered the call and are due a big pat on the head. Who would have thought that a makeup patchwork OL would perform so well? Who would have thought that two separate teams would win SEC victories wearing the UGA uniform?
GOOD DAWGS!! WOOF, WOOF, WOOF!!
Stick it to FU again next week. Does everyone realise that the Crier is STILL jumping up and down over last year’s game? It has warmed the cockels of my heart for a year. Let’s extend it. UGA dominated the game from the beginning! The offense made the big plays and UGA ran the ball extremely well against a good defense. The defense can be improved but do not discount the three INTS that UGA was able to get. Three INT’s in a game is incredible!
Also, regardless, the critical point was that UGA started fast and decisively with some serious attitude. There was a killer instinct that was held back in the beginning off the season and unfortunately not adequately harnessed against Bama, and I would like to assume that it was intentionally supressed given the latter part of our season!!! GO CMR GO DAWG NATION!!!

Hard to complain after a game like that, but defesnsively we really do need to tighten up. I know all of us sound like a broken record, repeating this every week, but if defensively we play the way we did today against Florida they will hang 50 on us. Hopefully Ellerbe will be back, which should add some leadership to our linebacker core. Individually, both Rennie Curran and Reshad Jones (with the exception of his pick) has subpar games, which was surprising to see. They were both out of position on atleast two plays. Moving on to the kickoff returns, I was pleasantly surprised with Ramurcus. He had that one muffed kick, but still had some good returns. Knowshon actually did not run as well as the stats may show, and that is partly because of LSU’s tough defensive front. It seemed as if every play he either busted a big run or was stopped behind the line for a loss. All of the credit on his first run should go to Southerland, though, who opened up a hole a bus could run through. Moreno is so much better when he is in there. Moving on to Stafford: simply put, he had a big time game. I believe he was just short of 300 yards on the day, but he managed the game like he was Peyton Manning. His checks at the line were right on the on the money, and he converted on every crucial down. I also thought he spread the wealth to all his receivers, connecting with 9 different bulldogs. Just a final thought… it was great seeing Aaron White get his first collegiate catch on a big stage in a big time situation, you have to love that. Now its time to start getting ready for Forida. And if anyone is wondering whether we will be prepared for the game in Jacksonville, the answer is YES. People who are close to the team have told me that they have been preparing for the Florida game since the beginning of summer practice. Both the coaches and players are jacked up about this game, and the intensit is going to be through the roof next week. See all of yall in Jacksonville, and GO DAWGS!!!!!

LSU had won 21 of the past 22 games in Baton Rouge…and had won ten straight against Top Ten teams. It was a dominating win. Sure it was frustrating to see LSU score twice late, but the kids got caught up in watching the stadium empty and forgot to play. Florida’s defense is not as strong as LSU’s and Florida’s eyes might light up when they see LSU total yardage….but ours will light up when we start knocking Tebow on his a* all day like we did last year. But after we beat Florida next week there will still be morons on here who have never stepped on a football field complaining about the players, the offensive coordinator, the defensive coordinator and everybody else involved with the team. The only complain I have is with Uga VII. He’s way lazy. He needs to show a little fire or hit the road.

THE OBVIOUS WAY TO BEAT US IS TO POUND IT UP THE MIDDLE, BECAUSE WE ARE NOT BIG ENOUGH TO STOP A STRONG O-LINE AND BIG BACK.

Don’t get excited about this win. LSU never belonged in the top 25 this year. They were ranked high because they are the defending champs. They haven’t had a single win against a quality team this year. Meyer has been holding quite a bit back for UGA. Not sure UF fans have been happy about this and it didn’t help in the Ole Miss loss. That is Meyer though- he will have a lot of different looks on offense in particular for UGA. He also will have Emmanuel Moody. If Demps and Rainey can’t outrun UGA (well Demps is the fastest player to ever play college football), then Moody will be given quite a few carries. Moody is likely laughing about UGA. UGA doesn’t have USC and UF talent.

Well, on the one hand, the Haters did have a much easier time with LSU than we did, but than again, they were playing in their own backyard, not LSU’s like we were. All in all, UGA has what it takes to not only beat Florida, but dominate them, it’s just a matter of whether they can remain focused for an entire game or not. So far, they haven’t shown that they can. Just long enough to get the victory(Alabama game excluded). Go Birds! Go Dawgs!

What are you idiots doing complaining about Martinez!! Coming into this game we had the #1 Total Defense in the SEC!! We will struggle against teams that have huge lines - I.E. Hermann Johnson 6’8 360 - We are a defense predicated on speed - - Sure we did miss quite a few tackles late in the game but Rennie and Reshad won’t miss that many again
Florida is an offense built on speed - they are finesse - not power - Weston, Atkins, Irvin will own the middle at DT and Tim Tebow is an average passer - Look the guy is a great college quarterback but is an average average passer - Look at Mel Kiper Jr’s list of top QB’s for next year - Stafford #2 - Tebow #8
Also for everyone who says Florida is the team with the big play offense - UGA - 54 plays of 20 or more yards on offense Florida - 31 plays of 20 or more yds

CHIP, PLEASE ANSWER!!!! I think I am like all UGA fan in wondering what Knowshow and Stafford will do concerning the “league” next year but I keep hearing about an NFL rookie pay policy that will take effect in 2010 that will reduce the pay of incoming player, in effect costing those who choose to wait millions. Would you please shed some light on this as I cant find any info online and this appeats to be the defining factor. Again, thx for what you do

Now we see what would have happened last year in the SEC championship if it had of been UGA & LSU. The Dawgz are the better team again this year. Looks like that is pretty clear now. LSU AND ESPN CAN BOTH EAT A BIG D!CK!! Bulldogs were the 07 Natl champs.

Did anyone see the piece on ESPN today on the Richt family? It was great, they are such good people. With that said, I am proud of how the Dawgs played today. I was worried going into this game and am pleased that we won by 2 TD’s. I am a little disappointed in how the D played & hope they just had an off day today and play better next wk. I think UGA has a great chance of winning in Jax. Last year they were long shots to win the game, and then came out and did so handidly. Their O & D has to be solid and Stafford has to be “on” for it to happen. GO DAWGS!

The idea of going into a prevent type run the clock offense with 7 minutes to go was just plain stupid and kept LSU in the game. I appreciate Mark Richt’s nice guy image but he’s making things darn tough on his defense by doing that. If you’re ever going to go for the throat Coach Richt, do it this week please. If you leave Florida in the game, it will come back to haunt us.

Chip, I just went back to the archive of the in game blog, and I have to say that some of your own comments helped incite the comments about the defense.
It has now become official. No matter what, there is simply no pleasing you so-called “dawg” fans. The pups on the O-Line dominate the heart of the Tiger team and lead to 52 points after all we heard all week was how they would get dominated. The defense gets 2 pick 6’s after dropping 5 the previous week, and you want to yet again fire the DC. Give me a break! We win by double digits on the road against the defending Nat’l champs and the only thing on here is negativity.
So to chip and all the haters on here, it’s time you turned in your dawg cards and don’t come back until you write me a 5 page paper on why you shouldn’t be thrown off a bridge into a murky swamp and left for bait!

Good win since it was in Baton Rouge. But LSU is a joke this year.. so don’t read too much into that win. Duke over Vandy in Nashville- nice. West VA over Auburn. So who has LSU beaten again?? Nobody. Buckle up for Florida, Dawgs. Cause you still haven’t beaten anybody legit. Oh yeah, I believe its 3-3 with SEC vs. ACC games this year. and i’m not a yellow jacket- just an ACC fan who thinks your conference is overrated.

If we decline in the Polls another DOUBLE-DIGITS we will be ALL THE WAY DOWN THERE with Georgia Tech.
Except Tech would be on the way up, and UGA would be on the way down. Remember—we weren’t supposed to be ranked at all this year (SI last in the ACC—FAIL!!!), and UGA started the season at, what, NUMBER ONE?!?! FAIL again!

Three of UGA’s remaining opponents are currently ranked - LSU, FL, and TECH. My guess is they’ll lose at least two of those games, possible all of them!
UGA hasn’t proven anything yet. UGA will finally get tested these next two weeks. Then we’ll see if they deserve that lofty ranking. The same can be said for TECH. Only time will tell where either team will be ranked at the end of the season when the rankings actually count.

I love the win and the Dawgs. Our defense is still too soft and we can’t seem to put any team away when we should. We out-finessed a very physical team so that’s progress. Too many missed tackles but much heart. I’m heading to J’Ville Wednesday though and have high hopes. Should be fun…

The best offensive performance to date. Defense produced a couple of TD’s too. That proved to be the game difference. Richt did another superb job getting everyone prepared. LB Darry Beckwith
“They have a great quarterback. Stuff like this will happen, and they had great protection. We have to make plays on third downs and come to compete.”
DE Rahim Alem
“Upfront, they made it very difficult for us. The quarterback was very well protected. They also ran the ball very well, and that hurt us.”
“We must come to fight. We are in the corner right now and we have to get out of it. We lost to two great football teams. Obviously, we are not proud of the way we lost”
GEORGIA HEAD COACH MARK RICHT
“I think our line did a fantastic job of allowing only one sack throughout the game as many times as we threw it, which is fantastic considering who they were trying to block.”
“Let’s applaud the offensive line. They fought like mad and gave Matthew [Stafford] enough time when needed and gave Knowshon [Moreno] room to run. I felt like the team that could not only punch, but handle a few shots in the mouth. I think the line did that and that our team did that in general.”
LSU HEAD COACH LES MILES
On if he was disappointed in the defensive line not getting more pressure on the quarterback…
“The issue is the rushing yardage. If you give up the rushing yardage, you’re not going to put the pressure on the quarterback. As long as they had the lead, there’s little reason for them to spread you out and just toss it over the line and allow us to get in the backfield. It’s hard to pressure a team that is running the football pretty well.”
Matthew Stafford, QB
“They didn’t heat us up too much. When they did blitz they played a lot of man coverage and we did a good job of winning on the outside. Overall, we just did a good job of executing.”

And, instead Tech LOSES to a team ranked Number 48 in the BCS with the Number 104 Total Offense and Number 56 Total Defense.

Jeff in Suwanee: Nobody knows on Stafford and Moreno. They won’t say. There’s nothing to tip them off otherwise. They’ll do like everybody else in NCAA — get feedback from NFL evaluators after the season. I’d suspect there’s a good chance both will leave. Who knows, if they come up a tad short of goals this season, they could both decide to come back. But probably it will come down to how high they would be drafted and we can’t know that for a while.

Great win by the team. All aspects looked great. I hate prevent defense but even the LSU fans knew it was over in the start of the fourth quarter. They were heading out the aisles to grab anything with alcohol. Late yardage and points by the Tigger’s was all for naught.
Stafford looked great, cool in the pocket and cannon shots to the recievers. Yeah he put too much juice on two throws that could have been touchdowns, but overall he looked like the legitimate first round pick he will be. My new favorite NFL team, which ever one Matt plays for on Sundays.
Knowshon continues to amaze to make something out of nothing. He looks like he could make an awesome trainer by cooling of Gamble with a towel if this running back thing doesn’t work out for him.
Props to UF, they played a great lights out game against UK. Just a dominating performance. What else can I say except I, and the Dawg Nation cannot wait till next Saturday. We are not the only ones. Courso and Herbstreit said they wanted to be at that game. Since I won’t make the trip, It will be must see TV. I will have the deer and ribs on the grill, the beer on ice and all my rowdy friends will come over to see the fight. Even with the Texas and Texas Tech gunfight, this will be the game of the week.

It’s easy to think that people are just being negative when they call for a new D-Coordinator, but when Van Gorder was coaching the D, I remember hoping that he never leaves. With Martinez, I fear that if he does not leave, our team will never reach his full potential as a whole.
Say whatever you want about the players, coaching determines how a squad performs with all things equal. I don’t think Bama has better talent than us on D, but they sure are coached better. Who can disagree with that?

This a a pop quiz. Two questions, answer each in fifty words or less… #1) What are the similarities between Alabama, UGA and Florida..? (hint: answer not found in the W columns or within the SEC division board) #2) Why are you worried and concerned with the Tennessee program..? Good luck and have a great day…

Pack the coolers, break out your lucky socks, buckle your chin strap, and tighten your jock strap. This is the biggest UGA/FL game in over twenty years. I can’t remeber the last time both schools only had one loss. The winner will be in Atlanta on December 6, will get a shot to beat Alabama, and possibly the BCS Championship. The loser gets a invite to be in Orlando on January 1.
Good Luck folks!

UGA’s offense is unstoppable—-they will lay 40 on UF’s overrated defense—-mark it down. UF’s offense will get a few points, but not nearly enough to overcome moreno, stafford, aj green….UGA wins this game easy, 40-23. UF goes home angry again, like last year. I think the dawgs will start a long run of wins and put uf in the second tier, as they should be. UGA needs a little help, but they could end up in the title game against Penn State, which UGA would beat easy. I’ll be in Jax on Wednesday, partying hard every night baby!!!

General, good to see you post. It looks like now is the time to crank up the Phanatical Phans of Phat Phil to save countless do-nut shop employee’s jobs. Don’t think about saving that coach who is in the top one per cent of earners in America. Think of all the little people whose livelihood will be destroyed by the firing of such an icon. Do-nut shops and Pizza delieveries will be the first effected with the trickle down hitting lawn services and the local Big Men’s Warehouse.

Big win for the Dawgs. But we can’t dwell on this one too long at all. Because next week’s game is just as big. Everything is still there for the Dawgs. However, we need to give everything we’ve got to this game just like we did against LSU. So hunker down guys…..Let’s get this thing done….GO DAWGS!!!!!!!!!!!

Kentucky was severely limited by injuries. Let’s hope Ellerbee and Chandler will be ready (but wow what a sub at MLB). Our defense does looks scary with TT and Harvin on deck but you can’t discount the two td’s by the defense. Those count as defensive performance as well. We have a chance in J’ville. If our O=Line steps up again we will win.J. Fabris is one of the best asst. coaches in America. Get off his case.

Good call Kendall. Our D is built to stop the spread (i.e. stopping FLA). Look at the only 2 teams who were able to run the ball against us — Bama & LSU. Big, physical lines and backs. FLA is not big and physical. Hopefully we’ll be able to adjust when we line up against Bama in Atlanta!
And Techies, did you see how uneffective LSU was when they tried to spread the UGA D out with their option? It’s gonna be a long day for ya’ll on Nov. 29!

Last night I watched the Penn St.-Ohio St. game right after the UGA-LSU game, and I thought the Big 10 teams were running in mud, compared to the speed of the earlier SEC game. Then I replayed that SEC game and confirmed it… UGA-LSU were at least 2 steps faster than the Lions and Buckeyes (what a dull game that was). Outside of being a homer, I couldn’t believe Herbstreit was touting the great Nittney Lions, who he said will go undefeated and play the NC game. Those two teams would get waxed by UGA, UF or LSU if they played last night. Even USC looked awful against the mighty AZ Wildcats. Why are they ranked ahead of Georgia, I’ll never know… and the talking heads can’t change my mind.
The best NC game in the world would be with Matt Stafford vs. Colt McCoy, 2 Texans, and it would probably be labeled the fastest 2 teams ever to play the game. Remember when John Lastinger’s UGA team upset Texas in the Cotton Bowl (Jan. 2 1984), 10-9, only to knock Texas from the National Title they could have won after Miami beat #1 Nebrask in the Orange Bowl later that night? They were 16 point underdogs, yet found a way to win (once again - as they did all season). What a rematch that would be! Oh well… one can only hope and dream… but, it could happen. GO DAWGS!! ALL THE WAY!! FINISH THE DRILL!!

Just a note to all the Dawg fans complaining about “mediocre” seasons under Coach Richt:
Please jump off the bandwagon and go find another bandwagon to jump on…. Like maybe Georgia Tech.
An overall 78-20 record, four straight ten win seasons (in a seven year career), two SEC Championships, two Sugar Bowl Championships, five Top 10 finishes (two Top 5), and never finishing outside the Top 25 in his entire career is not mediocrity.
I would like to win an NC as much as the next guy and it will happen someday. However, to sit and insult the results Mark Richt has produced as “mediocrity” is just plan out lunacy. We don’t need fans like that for the team.

With all humility, THE Ohio State Buckeyes lost a tough one last night and are officially out of the National Championship picture (this year). And at the same time, THE Georgia Bulldogs took their game to a higher level (winning in Baton Rouge), which in my mind makes them more deserving than THE Ohio State Buckeyes (this year only your gearyheaded, flimwad a***** MORONS, so don’t think you can smack me down for long).

If you want a national championship, there needs to be a coaching change.
Richt and his staff don’t know how to get the most out of their substantial talent.
Richt is still learning on the job. His latest admission: that he was wrong about not enforcing discipline for the team’s outrageous penalty performance. Even a high school coach would have known how to handle that situation. Richt couldn’t answer that $16 million dollar question.
Richt’s a nice guy, excellent recruiter, mediocre coach/CEO…another overpaid CEO.
Get used to 10-2, 9-3, 8-4 forever.

How good is Stafford, lets check the numbers.
Colt McCoy - Rating 186, 2,285 yards, 21 TD’s
Mark Sanchez - Rating 161, 1717 yards, 20 TD’s
Chase Daniel - Rating 177, 2675 yards, 23 TD’s
Tim Tebow - Rating 157, 1415 yards, 12 TD’s
Graham Harrell - Rating 167, 3147 yards, 28 TD’s
Matthew Stafford - Rating 145, 1946 yards, 12 TD’s
As I have said for over 2 years now to die hard UGA fans, Stafford is not as good as his hype. That does not mean I am a Stafford hater, I am just stating an opinion UGA fans do not like. Wow, he is just about even with Tebow, I bet you dawg fans hate that!

BE#3…if you don’t think Florida is physical, you are going to be in for a major surprise. Florida’s OL dominated LSU defensive line. They mauled Kentucky’s DL yesterday. On the DL side of the ball, Marsh is 6’4 and 300 pounds of pure strength and speed at NG. Sanders is 6’2 and 320 lbs at DT. Very strong and unmoveable. Cunningham is an All=SEC type DE, physical and fast. Dunlap is a monster freak at DE. So is Tratou, their backup. Spikes is the most physically gifted MLB in the SEC. Physical. You bet. Fast. You bet. Now, the DB is outstanding, too. Haden and Jenkins are shut down corners. Wright is playing All-SEC at FS. Brown is outstanding a SS. And, oh, Will Hill is starting to play in the DB as well. He will knock your head off. You better take another look at that Florida D befoe saying it isn’t physical, dude. They are very physical. And they are very fast, too. This is not last year’s Florida D. It is loaded with future NFL players. And, by the way, the offense is clicking big time. And the Gators get back Moody at RB and Tartt at OG next week. These two teams are both loaded. No doubt, Florida, Georgia, and Alabama are three of the best teams in the country. It is going to be fun in Jax. It is going to be a great game. Can’t hardly wait. It is going to be a long week at the office for most of us.

Great win Dawgs! The stakes get higher each week with a win. I wish there was a little more time to enjoy the great victory at LSU. Baton Rouge is no easy place to play for sure. The line came together and we finally played a semi complete game. Defense had some play makers and that has been laking however was a little more giving than most would like but LSU is a good team. Very big and good win. Visions of last year?????

On this ACC vs SEC thing, there is one fact that has nothing to do with football but is impt and every high school recruit with a brain (and some don’t have one) needs to know. The ACC last year graduated 75% of its football players (first among major conferences) while the SEC graduated 17% (last among the majors). I know you nat champ people don’t care about this but that tells all of us a lot. With all that said, Tech can’t wait to play UGA this year.

I remember three months ago UGA talking smack they were number one and were playing the best football in the country. Now, UGA is wondering if they are good enough to beat UF…like Chip asks…”good enough for the Gators?”
Like the three other UGA wins in 18 years, the UGA win streak against UF ends at ONE. Thanks for coming out.

TampaGator,
I was referring to your (FLA) style of rushing. You don’t line up in the I and run the ball up the middle behind a fullback like Bama and LSU. Your backs are small compared to Coffee, Ingram and Scott. Those 3 backs behind their lines gashed us up the middle.
Fla’s defense is much improved over last season. But UGA’s offense is balanced to perfection. You can’t just line up with 8 in the box and stop the run b/c Stafford will shred your secondary. BTW, Knowshon has ran for over 150 yds. the past 2 weeks and King has been filling in very nicely to give 24 a breather when needed. And if you play zone, Stafford will fire the ball to the receiver before your DB’s have a shot to get there. This is going to be the biggest challenge your young D has faced all season. The same is said for us too as ya’ll are clicking on O as well. Should be a great game on Saturday! And one more thing…..special teams…..Mimbs has a knack for huge kicks with little or no return. That could be a difference maker!
Go Dawgs!

Looks like it’s not going to matter much in terms of NC game who wins this game. Texas and Penn St. will play for the marbles.
Winner of GA-FL game will be who has best running game, and who plays best special teams. We all know they both have great receivers and qb’s.
Not sure if Gators can get it done against a gritty GA team

Wait a minute Gato haters. The gator havent played a team with as many offensive weapons as Georgia have. I will admit our defense is soft this year due to poor coaching, injuries, and being undersized, but Florida’s defense is not that much better. Ole Miss through bombs all over Florida and you know AJ and MM will open things up for the third reciever Goodman, Wilson or Durham. With Tripp Chandler coming back, hopefully he will catch some passses. This is going to be a track meet. Whoever has the ball last will probably win. The turnover factor will also be huge. Whoever can make the least amount of mistakes will win this game. Both teams will move the ball, turnovers, coaching, and special teams will decide this game.

For all the flack He has taken Stafford has carried this team untill the run blocking started to come along in the past few games. I was glad to see Moreno break the long TD run, He has had so many long runs just to be run down inside the five. It was nice to see him get a little luck, and some great down field blocking from the WRs. If the O line can run block and UGA can play some ball control the Dawgs have a good shot at another victory in J-ville. I don’t want to see Stafford and Tebow in a shoot-out. If Moreno can get 160 yds the Dogs will win.

All you Fla. Gay Turd fans and players too. When are you going to stop your whining about the whupping you took last year? Oh, we just could’t play the rest of the game under those conditions. Those awful Ga. players just stomping all over our field. We’re really going to pay them back for that this year! This will be the one reason we will win, no doubt! You all sound pathetic. You too Urban !

Its pretty funny how many UFag fans come on a Dawg post. Do you not have your own newspaper in jean-short country. By the way Fla. hasn’t played a quality team like Georgia, so quit thinking that your a dominating team just because you put points on the board against UK and Hawaii.

The fact that the gators have made the celebration from last year’s game such a big deal will only motivate UGA that much more. Your crying and “wait til’ we play you again” nonsense is going to shoot you in the foot instead of help you. Didn’t you guys have most of that game to exact revenge? I mean, that was at the beginning of the game. Don’t you think UGA’s players are listening to this too? It’s going to make this year’s win even better. Gators are headed for a beatdown. Go Dawgs!

REPTILE DYSFUNCTION
They just cant get “up” for the game w/o mentioning our celebration last year. Looks like getting into the head of the gators isnt that hard..of course, since gators have a brain the size of a marble, that isnt hard to do. Sorry, Mullet Nation, the lizards are going down.

TIGERS ARE WHINNERS-Mike,if i remember right CMR was a assistant coach before coming to GA,unlike your coach.CMR has set records your coach hasnt-like 72 wins in 7 years a feat only the bear, spurrier, and dooley have accomplished.UF fans are for the most part a bunch of retards, before 92 and spurrier came to gainesville,UF had no idea what a NC was much less an SEC title.Damn 105 years years have gone by and UF only has 6 sec titles.UF has only been ranked in the top twenty 18 times.GA has been ranked 32 times in 112 yrs.TWO NTS and 3 CTS-titles that GA won before NTS were invented in the 50s.12 sec titles and about 9 sharred or out right east sec titles.Hell just in shut outs GA leads 15 to your 5 shutouts.GA-492 points to UFs 112 points.DAWGS DANCE IN THE ENDZONES OWNED BY TEAMS WHO CANT STOP THE DAWGS FROM SCORING MUCH LESS DANCING.CMR has 2 sec titles and 4 east titles.your coach has only one sec title-crybabies dont get trophies for graduating whine 101 class.

As I predicted, UGA beat LSU and Penn State beat Ohio State and it was too much for his suckeye mind to take.
Ohio State is going to be Outback Bowl bound. Enjoy playing LSU there where they will kick the crap out of your sorry a&& team once again. SEC is in the minds of the Ohio State SuckEyes! Big Time!

“L”esclassless “SU”.
Guys, I was one of the lucky ones to attend the game and it was great. The LSU fans were actually very nice - better that typically reported. Everyone commented “Beat Florida”. CMR did the right thing and held the score under 60 late in the fourth and what did no class Les do? Hail Mary with 20 seconds left and about six laterals on the last play of the game. No chance to win and should have taken a knee like the Dawgs. Pretty poor sportsmanship. No wonder the handshack at the end of the game was “cool”. CMR is a better man than me. I would have done the spit handshake. Next meeting will be 70+ to not much for the Dawgs. Let Les explain that to the LSU fans.

Hey bulldung…those are truly impressive stats you threw up there to knock on Matt Stafford. The reason why NFL scouts are drooling over him is his PRO POTENTIAL you moron. All those other QBs on your list are great college QBs…and maybe one or 2 of them will turn out to be decent pros. Stafford has played in a pro-style offense at UGA for 3 years. He makes all the checks and audibles himself at the line. Find any other QB on that list who does that. Sanchez is the only other QB on your little list there who is even comparable to Stafford….and I doubt many would argue that Stafford has a markedly stronger arm than him. What does your list prove? How much spread offenses inflate QB stats. Stafford and Sanchez are the only ones who do it in a pro-style offense and I would bet that they will be the only 2 of the bunch who have good pro careers.

Florida is not the ‘85 Chicago Bears (and maybe not as good as the ‘85 Gators, either)
Florida went 9-4 last year
Florida lost at home to Ole Miss earlier this year
Georgia beat Florida last year
Was the Dawgs’ performance yesterday good enough to beat Florida? Maybe, maybe not, but they looked a lot like they did in Jax last year - unstoppable on offense, porous on defense. That formula was good enough for a 12-point victory.
What will the Gators bring this Saturday? Their Ole Miss performance, or their LSU and Kentucky performance? We’re about to find out.

Oh.
And, I have zero respect for any poster of any team, who is a homer and refuses to admit that their team (coach) is not, and has not been for 8 solid years better than The Bulldogs in the Final AP Polls.
General Neyland, who comes in here and BRAGS on Phfat Fil and ONLY states what GREAT STUFF Phfat Fil is, therefore gets zero respect from me.
So, I would say that it is directed even more so toward General Neyland.
But, the facts REMAIN that the vols are the WORST RANKED SEC TEAM in the BCS today at Number 70.

Les Miles makes me sick. Here is what he said after the game: http://www.theadvertiser.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20081026/SPORTS/810260348/1006
“”I can take a loss where our team plays well and we’re beaten by a better team,” LSU coach Les Miles said. “Certainly we were beaten by a better team without any question. But how do we know? We gave that team so many opportunities. And they never played from pressure. “
He spent that entire press conference talking out of both sides of his mouth. He wanted to say LSU beat themselves instead of giving credit to the team that blew them out. Les Miles shows once again why he is considered a jerk in the league with Urban Cryer. Just give the team that beats you credit and stop qualifying the beat down you took by suggesting you beat yourself.

Why not ask why I write about Georgia Tech ?
I have said repeatedly that I do not believe that Georgia Tech will win a single remaining game.
They must do so to go to a bowl game, which Chandler Gailey did every season.
And, he was saddled with 6 Lost Scholarships for Academic Cheating every year of his career at Tech.

As predicted in the preseason:
No one can usually make it through an SEC season unbeaten. Bama’s the only one left, and whoever wins the East will take care of that piece of unfinished business in the Dome.
Georgia-Florida will be for the East title.
Ohio State will NOT play for the title again this year.
HOWEVER, unless the winner of the Georgia-Florida tussle simply destroys an unbeaten, #2-ranked Alabama team in the SECCG, the Longhorns and the Nittany Lions will probably play for the BCS title. That is, unless the Longhorns stumble in the next few weeks (Texas Tech or the Big 12 Title game), opening the door for the SEC champion to play Paterno’s boys for yet another title. If THAT happens, the SEC will become the first conference to have three consecutive national champs in college football, because Penn State could not beat Alabama, Florida or Georgia this season.

Great game offensively and defensively for 3 quarters and a little extra, however CMR conservative trying to run out the clock and not throw a pass with 10 minutes to go almost blew up in his face. Way too much time left to start running 3 straight plays and punt. Our defense got worn down by LSU’s bruising big guys on the O-Line and that back they had was the toughest runner I’ve seen this year.
Good thing there wasn’t one more quarter to play. Obviously our D was gassed. That was because we shut down the Offense way too soon, we were scoring at will and we shut it down and then LSU scores at will, on simple runs and screens none the less. THank GOd for Gamble or the game would of been one not to remember. THat conservative crap won’t fly against the Gators. They score faster than LSU.

What’s the perspective of the Gators and their fans? Confidence, not cockiness. After the Gators’ offense finally seems to have hit on all eight cylinders the last two weeks, I feel pretty good about the coming game. Win, lose or draw, I expect the Gators to make a strong showing.

Dawgs looked good on O at LSU, but lots of big holes on D. Gators D is improving and the O will be fine this Saturday. Dawgs better be ready on special teams, Gators much stronger. I don’t think the Athens version of “Stomp” is going to make much difference. 15-3 historically in favor of the Orange and Blue. I expect the Gators to win by 7 and matchup much better than the scared pupps did with ‘Bama in Atlanta. (UGA will be preparing for thier BCS game vs. Boise State) Go Gators!

Great win @ LSU but this week’s challenge is on a completely different level. I see this game breakdown really simple…
Both teams are better this year on offense…tie
UF is better on D than last year and clearly UGA is not as good as last year but still as good as UF this year…tie
Special teams…UF has a slight advantage because of their return ability
Coaching…you could make a case either way but I give a slight edge to UGA.
The big issue for UGA is that last year they put heavy pressure on Tebow with a 4 man rush…so far this year our pass rush has been terrible. If you combine a healthy Tebow with more weapons against a UGA defense that cannot get in the backfield without blitzing we are in for a shootout.
If UGA can get some pressure with the front 4 and execute in the red zone UGA wins…If we get into a track meet UGA loses…
Go Dawgs!!!!

The offense looked great passing and running. The O-line looked super. The defense should give Gamble the game ball with the 2 picks for touchdowns. UGA defense needs to improve a lot cause Fla. is even better than LSU offensively. Fla has a lot better defense than LSU also. UGA will need their A game to win.

Larry & Gutcheck,
Is that the same Will Muschamp that gave up 35 plus points to UGA in each of his last three tries as D coordinator?
I like Muschamp and think he is a good coach (when he has most talented defensive players in the entire country) like the one season at LSU, but Texas is winning on offense and he certainly hasn’t slowed down the dogs when we played him.

Scooter, Bobo and Willie STILL NEED TO GO. One good game and you all are over joyed. Yes they played a goo game but as a coach myslef. Overall performance they suck in important faces of the game.. You don’t talk conference or national title playing the sloppy way they did. Pretty soon our talent won’t win games for us. We should have thrown to all those target all year even if we have a young line or not. Thats why you play and coach. Finally he utalized his assets. WOW! ok now do it this week and/or shut up. One big win wooodi dang dooo. Win Saturday then talk, cause the rest of the season should be peice of cake, then again we are GEORGIA, the let down team of the ages. Go read Kendall’s two posts…2 of the last 3 losses by UGA in the past 2 years has been to teams that can pound the football with a big bruising back. What was Les thinking not just jamming it down our throat the whole day and take pressue off their inexperienced QB’s? We couldn’t stop Charles Scott. He was running over our D and that’s why we were missing tackles in Q4.
Who on the Gators is going to do the banging? TT? I thought he was done running.
Bring on the spread. FU will get their points, but we are playing some decent O lately.

True Dawg:
Amen Brother!
Bulldung:
Sanchez gets to play in a conference where they are 45+ point favorites. That doesn’t exist in the SEC. McCoy is a very good QB, but he plays in the big 12 where 70 points is a normal occurence.
Tebow is an excellent college QB, no doubt about it.
Stafford is having a very good season and is an excellent QB. I wouldn’t trade him for anybody.
No QB in the country has won more games since last October than Matt Stafford. That is the best measure of a QB’s performance.

So let me get this straight, our OC, Mike Bobo, who has been bashed to no end on these blogs, is praised because of how our offense looked just this past week?
Maybe he had good game plans called in the other games too, BUT the players just didn’t execute. That’s the bottom line w/ both CMB and CWM, THEIR GAMEPLANS ARE ONLY AS GOOD AS THEIR EXECUTION BY THE PLAYERS THEMSELVES.
It’s the coaches job to put the players in position to make plays, but the players themselves have to do it.
Oh, and btw, those 2 INT’s by Gamble, he only made those because he was dropped back in designated spot, via Willie’s “soft 2 deep zone” that most of you dooshbags rambe on about. So don’t praise him and then blast WM about his schemes.
By Jimmy
October 27, 2008 9:42 PM | Link to this
You dooshes can’t talk out of both sides of your mouths. You can’t praise Gamble for his two INT game and then bash WM for his gamecalling. Who do you think put Gamble in the position to make those 2 INT’s?? It was Willie’s “soft zone,” morons! Even the CBS announcer talked about it. The “Tampa 2,” the 2 safeties splitting the field and the MLB dropping straight back, reading the QB’s eyes, and bam! Making the 2 defensive plays of the year.
I look for more of that against FU, as their speed will kill us if we play them straight up. As always, if we don’t get any pressure on Timmy Teabags, they’ll pick us apart and we’ll have ourselves a 45-40 UGA win. If the D comes through, I see it as 45-28.

Gosh Jimmy,
Maybe we should just let Willie play the games for us too. Please! The mere fact that Gamble made a couple of good plays cannot be definitively linked to Willie’s play calling. Even if we agree that his play calling was good on those two plays…his bend but don’t break philosophy is what people complain about. His lack of consistent aggressiveness in play calling has upset people. So yes, we can praise Gamble and complain about Willie’s play calling and it is NOT talking out of both sides of our mouths.
