UGA blog finds new home

Morning all. As I’ve said a couple of times this week, we’re converting this blog over to a WordPress platform and it will be a permanent move the first of next week.

Those of you who are regulars probably know that I’m not what you’d call techno-wizard when it comes to these things. But from what I understand the technology offered in this new format should make the blogging and commenting experience better for all. Of course, I’ll be learning as we go along, too. But I’m hoping to provide more pictures and video and things like that which should bring the blog more to life.

Of course, this blog is nothing without all you guys so I want to heartily invite (read: beg) you to come over to the new site by CLICKING HERE ON THE NEW ADDRESS and save it in your browsers. As of Monday, Feb. 23rd, this will be the permanent home of the UGA blog you so love or, in the case of some of you, love to loathe. If you’d prefer to copy and paste or just memorize, the new address is: http://blogs.ajc.com/uga-sports-blog/.

See at the new place!

Return to No. 1 could be a while

Not that it matters in the grand scheme of things, but there’s a good chance Georgia will not regain the No. 1 ranking until after the bowl games even if it goes undefeated this season.

The fact is, if Southern Cal beats Ohio State on Sept. 13 (the Trojans have a bye this week) they’re very unlikely to lose again. As long as they don’t it will be difficult for the Bulldogs to overtake them.

If Georgia also manages to go undefeated it will have negotiated a much more difficult schedule. But that doesn’t necessarily mean pollsters will adjust accordingly, not if they still believe USC is the more talented squad. Here’s the remaining schedules side-by-side:

Date —USC —Georgia

9/6— off —Central Michigan

9/13 —Ohio State — @South Carolina

9/20—off—@Arizona State

9/25,27—@Oregon State—Alabama

10/4—Oregon—off

10/11—Arizona St. —Tennessee

10/18 —@ Wash. St—Vanderbilt

10/25—@Arizona—@LSU

11/1 —Washington—Florida (Jacksonville)

11/8—California—@Kentucky

11/15—@Stanford—@Auburn

11/22—off—off

11/29—Notre Dame—Georgia Tech

12/6—@UCLA—SEC Champ.

As you can see, the Dogs appear to have the tougher slate (who really knows until we get well into the season). But strength of schedule is an undefined intangible in human polls and not directly accounted for in the BCS formula.

The best news for Georgia is it would be no worse than No. 2, and No. 2 is all that matters with the system such as it is.

Now some links:

CMU QB blogs

Not that one. Dan LeFevour’s backup, senior quarterback Brian Brunner, puts up a weekly blog on the school’s website called Blogging with Brunner. Say this for the kid, he has a good vocabulary.

Games were shorter

According to a study done by cfbstats.com and wizofodd.com college football games were shorter as a result of the new 40-second clock. There also were fewer plays so, effectively, fans were getting less action for their buck.

And finally …

Mark Richt launches website

That’s right, the Bulldogs’ coach has joined the ranks of most of his brethren and launched his own website markricht.com. He’s supposed to have a weekly blog but, unless I missed it, he hasn’t started that yet. Be patient. It takes time to download because there’s a lot of bells and whistles on it it such as music and videos. Overall, though, pretty cool.

hey Chip, what happened to this week’s game against C. Michigan being on Fox Sports South as originally reported by the AJC back in mid August?

By TybeeDawg

September 4, 2008 12:26 PM | Link to this

I disagree Chip…if we start mowing down all these ranked teams like we hope to, then no one, even Mark May and Lou Holtz can deny we dont deserve to jump USC at some point.

But it doesn’t really matter…what if we lose a game…then this is not even pertinent. And is entirely possible USC could be upset by someone. There are hundreds of scenarios at this stage of the game.

Truth be told, UGA could take over at #1 on any given week if both teams stayed undefeated. It depends on how both team would look in their victories. The same way they ‘slipped’ to #2. Both teams play AZ St. That may be a litmus test for many voters, even though USC faces them every year.

WesDawg. I don’t know who reported what when but the game will be televised on FSN South at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday. Bob Rathbun and David Rowe will call the game. It will be replayed on CSS with Buck Belue and Matt Stewart calling the action Monday at noon and 9 p.m… .

As for the next couple of games: 9/13 S. Carolina on CBS at 3:30 p.m. and 9/20 Arizona St. at 8 p.m. on ABC.

Chip, thanks for the reports, topics, and insight. I enjoy reading your articles, but I also enjoy reading the thoughts and insights from the regulars here.

A couple of nights ago it got pretty nasty in here. I can only hope the AJC will set a standard as to what’s acceptable and filter out the trash. There’s no excuse for some of the crap coming in here.

Cuz, Altamaha, Tybee, Hunker Down, I-DAWG, and many others, this is the third year I’ve tuned in here, I usually read more than I post, I was taught long ago that you come across way more intelligently if you listen more than you speak, you are all a classy bunch and the best fans.

Nothing wrong with some good natured ribbing and a little smack from us and the enemey, I’ve got friends and family from the schools of most of our major rivals as I’m sure most of you do. We always have some kind of wager going on.

Seems like in the world today so many good things we grew up being used to are changing and or coming to an end because of our changing demographics and culture. Hope this blog doesn’t become another example of where some things in our society have gone.

As for the topic, I could see the voters swinging back and forth between USC and UGA assuming both schools win each week. It will be hard not to vote UGA number one after (assumed for topic purposes) beating AS on the road, Bama, LSU in Baton Rouge, Florida, AU on the road. It would sure make for an interesting title game, let’s keep dreaming until someone wakes us up, hopefully that won’t happen.

Be watching on Saturday for the offense to hold on to the football a little longer prior to scoring “early and often”.

Remember when it was widely reported how statistically rare it was that a #1 preseason team finished #1. That never mattered. That statistic CANNOT reach forward. It’s a historical record, not a factor. What I would like to know is this: How many times did a team in the top 5 in week 2 make it to the MN game. And then I want to know the same thing about week 3, 4, 5……

1 comment and one question here.

Comment: Why can’t we get 3 off weekends like USC…and 2 of them before and after our biggest game?(Insert Sarcasm)

Question: I noticed we both play Arizona St. By how much larger of a margin would we need to beat them, than what USC does, to retake #1 from USC…if we could?

By BCD

September 4, 2008 12:56 PM | Link to this

I was actually wondering what I was going to do if we were sitting at #1 all season. Half the fun is rooting for teams above us to lose so we can move up in the polls.

I disagree on the fact that it will take ‘til bowl time for us to jump USC. If we make it past UF and have no losses, then they’d better rank us #1. We would have just beaten the 06 and 07 MNC winners. All USC would have done is beat the 06 and 07 MNC LOSER. We had better RUTS against ASU as that is the only common opponent that we will get.

I agree that the ASU game would be the first lithmus test. I think it would take a single digit win by USC and a double digit win by us to jump them. Though ASU goes to SC, so if we had a single digit win but played convincingly we could still jump.

After that, I think if we beat LSU and UF back to back, no matter what USC did, we’d jump back up to #1.

Great blogging Chip. Keep up the good work.

Chip,

If we lose, we’ll fall much further than USC should they lose. I wish we would’ve played them in the Rose Bowl last year. The current system is broken. As long as Tom Hansen (PAC-10) & Jim Delany (Big 10) are in their respective roles, NOTHING will change. They will never have a conference championship game nor will they support any type playoff. Their conferences are MAYBE 2 to 3 teams deep.

chip, thanks as usual. good work. i agree with your assessment, but i’ve got a question for honest conversation. do you think after usc plays arizona state, the pollsters will reassess things if both teams are still undefeated? for example, if the dogs beat arizona state soundly and usc struggles against them, will that change pollsters’ minds?

you think $100 is a lot for a ticket to a college football game?????

Who jumps who and why is going to be clouded till there arent 7 schools still receiving first place votes. If Florida kils Miami for example, they are certainly going to gain some. If they lost, UGA would likely get thiers.

It will interesting to see what voters do with USC during an off week.

Better to be No. 2 with a chip on your shoulder. I assume Coach Richt or someone at UGA is whispering into the players’ ears that they are being disrespected, that the media and the public used to think that UGA was No. 1 but now they are off chasing shiny objects or something. Maybe the players will feel offended and get mad. I bet both UGA and Southern Cal will try to make a statement against Arizona State - unfortunately, USC goes after we do so they know how many points it will take to look better.

Conspiracy Theory No. 2: Chip Towers, Chippewas. Hmmmmm.

By the way I never heard about Coach Richt’s time at the Bama-Clemson game. Did he sit in the Clemson section? Did he get recognized a lot? Were people nice to him?

Even if we beat AZ state by three touchdowns and USC beats them by one point, USC still retains the number one ranking. Think on it. There is no pro team in LA. Most all football attention is put on USC, sorry UCLA, just the facts Mam. USC goes undefeated and will take the number one ranking into the BCS MNC no matter what the Dawgs accomplish. That’s just the way it is.

I-Dog we might have seen a “historic” move like that in part because of the unusual nature of somebody like a Georgia even being able to break into the stranglehold of the traditional preseason #1s like USC. And not just Georgia. There are actually still 7 different schools that hold first place votes even week 2. Easy enough to look back I suppose, But if I had to guess , its never been that spread out, and doesnt take much to move it around. When have you ever seen Florida blow somebody out and lose votes as a result? And when has OSU EVER lost any votes for anything? They got bumped most of all. Very unusual year to be sure.

Is it my imagination of does the voting process seem to re-invent itself every year?

By Dawgsrule

September 4, 2008 4:06 PM | Link to this

Bottom line is it doesn’t really matter. However the way I see it. If we win this week and USC doesn’t play then we should jump them. After all UGA got jumped last year when they didn’t play and they got jumped this year even when they won. I see USC taking the top spot back the next week if they beat OSU but then i see us beating a better oppenent every week for the rest of the year. If UGA is still undefeated after UF then no one will doubt Georgia’s ability. If they finsh the season and win the SEC undefeated then they will be number 1 by a long shot. Afterall the reason why people have doubts is because of the schedule. If we win em all then all doubts are removed.

Best case senario is that we do stay number 2 and we go into the title game with a chip on our shoulders.

Mark Richt is playing it smart. He knows that if we win em all, even if every game was won by 1 point in triple ovetime that we will be in the title game. He knows it is going to be a long grueling season and with the injuries we already have we will need as many people with game experience as possible. That is why you see so many freshman playing.

Ever since Pete Caroll has been there (okay maybe not the first year), the national media considers USC as close to a pro team as LA will come; therefore, they rank them like a pro team. I really think that USC will be ranked number one every year until the earthquake takes care of CA. I wasn’t surprised. No way we jump them til we beat them. Even then the AP and 5 coaches will still rank them No. 1.

I expected top 5 at worst case coming into the season so #2 isn’t that bad. We have to win to stay anywhere near the top anyway. The schedule dictates a #1 if we run it and run it well. USC or not. But we need to beat SC and UT with passion. Then take it to BAMA, LSU, UF, Auburn, and ASU. Can we just call our schedule “The World” so we don’t have to list these brutes every time. When I look at the schedule it just increases that damn seasonal anxiety disorder that I suffer from. Synapses firing and misfiring till January or the first loss which ever comes first.

Georgia is in the SEC so week in and week out they will have more phyiscal battles and win by less than 10 points. USC is playing in the Pac-10 and their schedule just isn’t tough enough week to week so they will win games by 20 plus points so #2 is all that matters. Georgia got the preseason pub, USC will get all the regular season love all the while each week GA wins they will get more and more critics and god forbid they lose…that is when they will lead off Sportscenter and we will hear and see it more than any beatdown they dished out prior to the “loss”. PACWIN, I think it would be a great game. And yes the best teams in the PAC 10 are 10-6 against the midlevel teams in the SEC. The worse loss was UT, but honestly I wasnt that sad. Tell me how the PAC 10 has done against UF, LSU, and UGA the last few years. USC beat Auburn on their down year. They also lost to Tech around that time. PAC-10 is as strong as it has been in years. PRACTICE UPDATE

Some real interesting stuff from coach Mark Richt today. We meet with him BEFORE practices on Thursday because the workout is pretty much a walk through.

Here’s some of the stuff we found out. I’ll expound on it all in tomorrow’s notebook:

Quintin Banks and Brannan Southerland could be back earlier than originally thought. CMR said they both could return for the Sept. 27 home game against Alabama. If Southerland comes back then it will be just as the “personal protector” on punts. “I think that would be a good way to ease him back in,” Richt said. After the bye week, Southerland would be full go for Tennessee… . Banks should be full go for Bama …

Richt likes Thursday games: Said he wouldn’t mind playing in one himself. Right now Georgia does not allow it home or away but Richt said he’d like to play an away date on Thursday. It’ll never happen for home games, however, he said… .

MarkRicht.com: CMR talked about his new website, launched Thursday. Said he plans on blogging every Sunday, even though he admitted “I don’t even know what a blog is.” …

Injuries and suspensions: Richt still won’t spell out his punishment for Jeff Henson and Donavon Baldwin, who were suspended indefintely before the season for drinking-related arrests. But he said he’s, “getting closer on both those guys” as far as a conclusion… . SE Kenneth Harris (ankle) is doubtful for Saturday’s game. DT Kade Weston (sprained knee) is on track to return next week.

That’s all for now.

USC has 11 NC (including 1 BCS)and 30 Bowl wins; unless your a Tide fan your team can’t top that. How many NC has UGA won (any in this century?)

Talk about being delusional- USC has 6 uncontested Mythical National Championships as follows- 1931 & 1932 Consensus NC (CNC)10 polls, 1962- CNC 14 polls including AP & UPI, 1967- CNC 13 polls including AP & UPI, 1972 Unanamous NC and 2004 Unanamous NC. As for the other 4 times- they were split 1974- OK- AP 13 polls total, OSU- 1 poll and USC- UPI- 5 polls- I don’t count this because you lost the Rose Bowl to Ohio State and Oklahoma was on probation so they couldn’t be named NC by the coaches (UPI), 1976- Pittsburgh unbeaten/untied 11 polls including AP & UPI, USC named on 6 polls this one doesn’t make sense since you lost a game- Pollster Bias, 1978- Split NC AL 7 Polls including AP, OK- 9 Polls, USC- 7 Polls including UPI, this one should have been a Consensus NC for USC as they beat Alabama the first game of the season at Alabama. This one IMHO is a NC for USC and lastly 2003- LSU 11 polls including BCS, USC 3 polls including AP, This IMHO is not a NC as you had a loss and a tie and points to pollster bias. LSU was the true National Champion. Now USC has been named NC on at least 1 poll on 6 other occasions i.e. 1928, 1929, 1933, 1939, 1979, and 2002.

Even with the 1978 NC that gives USC 7 NC not 11 as you posted. USC has a storied history but please don’t give them credit for MNC that they did not earn or deserve. Of all the teams in the PAC 10 IMHO USC at this point is the only team that would be able to compete in the SEC.

Chip,

Answer me this, is it true that the change of rules regarding the clock was pushed hard by the press ‘media?’ They wanted to shorten the length of games so they would have more time to meet their deadlines on stories and whatnot??

College football fans wait from January through August, basically 8 months just for 3 months of football, followed by another one month break(most of December) before the major bowls. Having said that, WHY would anybody who really cares about the game want to shorten it? We wait for so long to see so little football. It makes no damn sense to me and p** me the hell off!

Alt, Cuz, Hunk, I-DOG ya’ll know my style. I’m going to be out of the country some during the season, so if you see somebody posting anything negative about the Dawgs using my blog name feel free to call him an imposter.

Tybee and Mobile, no Chip cannot do anything about the imposters taking your names. The AJC bosses think it is funny to have homophobic, racist, gay comments on a football board. In other words, they don’t care what you think. Join the list of others who have had their names stolen, shane, Alatamaha, Cuz, Wareagle, reality check, godawgs, Hunkerdown, Zeb, Roswell Ed, Gen Neyland and the list goes on. If you are going to post something that actually is about football, you will have your name stolen. The AJC has everyone’s e-mail addresses but they could not give a rip about enforcing standards. Get used to it.

I would love for the Dawgs to be #1 all year. However, their schedule is so tough to go undefeated. Per USC, they are the darlings of the sports media and will be until the cows come home. And, they do have some great teams most of the time. Go DAWGS.

My afternoon poser, eat turds and die. If you are so homophobic, it means that you must want some man love yourself. Talk football and I will engage you in some intellectual commentary. Pose as me or my friends, get ready to be stomped.

Royston, kinda hard to tell right now between Moreno and CK. I think that they are very similar, shifty backs. Both can take it to the house any time they get the ball with their combination of speed and elusivness. I think Samuel is the old school three yards and a cloud of dust back. When you need those three yards and the line is stacked with the LB’s on top of the DL, Samuel will get you that first down. Good comments.

Jimmy: The clock rules are the result of TELEVISION wanting to shorten the games. No one else. Coaches and the press share your view — that the game was fine like it was. But I don’t like it when a night game stretches toward four hours and I’m on deadline.

BCDawg97: The coaches are loving John Knox and think he’s going to be a solid player… .

Ft.WorthDawg: CMR sat in a suite at the Georgia Dome and watched the game. He always has notes scribbled on one of his hands, too. Y’all are way too mean to the cocks. This just furthers screws our schedule. Now we will probably drop to three. Today. Without even playing. This is the nightmare scenario of having SC mad and having them in their house. But it may give us a chance to let our d-line stretch their legs.

I like talking smack but I don’t understand talking to teams we don’t even play: where’s the fun in that? It never gets settled. And I hate the PAC 10, but it has gotten better and the Big12 actually looks to have more than 3 teams. The ACC…there is always basketball. Almost as bad as Who’s More Now.

Bwaaahhh. Bwaahhh. Bwaahhh.

Intramural Vandy, who has no offense beat Steve Spurrier’s Lame Gamecocks for the 2nd Consecutive Season when South Carolina was a ranked team at game time. They will finish neither season ranked.

Lame Duck South Carolina, will make up the excuse that they were looking ahead to next week. I assure you UGA is not. Not now. We will take you lightly now, as well we should.

Good Lord.

You big-mouthed do nothing South Carolina Gamecocks, in here for a year now whining how great you were last season when you didn’t not even earn a bowl berth.

Whining how Intramural Vandy’s win over you last season was a FLUKE you said.

Fluke.

Bobby Johnson is a lot better football coach than Tammy Bowden. Climpson Farmers should have hired him years ago to replace that half-wit.

South Carolina destroyed North Carolina State last week despite 4 turnovers.

But Vanderbilt is not an ACC team.

Vandy has to spend none of its shared SEC monies on any Athletics Department. They don’t have one.

This is Vandy’s 1st win against a ranked team at home since 1992.

The Biggest Victory in more than 70 years last season, Vanderbilt beat Steve Spurrier’s LameCocks when the LameCocks were ranked Number 6 in the nation. I came in here before game time and said that South Carolina would lose 5 games last season when the LameCocks were ranked Number 6. And, boy did I enjoy Vandy’s Biggest Victory over a Number 6 South Carolina team last season.

This one is even sweeter.

By ............................................BuLLdawg

September 5, 2008 5:00 AM | Link to this

Number 24 in the AP Poll and Number 24 in the USA Today Coaches’ Poll, Steve Spurrier’s LameCocks utterly stunk up Nashville.

Bobby Johnson was born in Columbia and grew up there, and graduated from Climpson : He’s a farmer.

To begin the game right off the bat, Vanderbilt fumbled the football inside the South Carolina Red Zone. South Carolina would score the TD obviously. It was the ONLY TOUCHDOWN on the night for South Carolina, until the Game was Over and Intramural Vandy put in its 3rd and 4th strings, allowing the last touchdown when South Carolina was Losing at the Time by Several Touchdowns. Then, South Carolina watched, as Intramural Vandy ran the clock out as the LameCocks could not stop the Running Attack of Bobby Johnson running the clock out.

Miserable.

In-between the opening TD of the game and last Meaningless One behind by several as the clock wound down, Vanderbilt blocked a field goal, punted the football OFF THE BACK of a LameCock , intercepted two (2) Chris Smelley’s “passes” and sacked Chris Smelley four (4) times. Does that about cover it, LameCock Fans ?

Bwaaahhh. Bwaahhh. Bwaahhh.

Please come back in here and keep up your LameCock posts in The UGA Bulldogs’ blog about how bloody great the LameCocks are.

Remember last year, how you bragged how great you were Ranked Number 6 in the nation ?

Remember all your posts in this forum this season, especially after your blowout of the America’s Cupcake Conference North Carolina State, when this season you were Consensus Number 24 in the Top 25 ?

Hey, South Carolina LameCocks, your Season is OVER.

Breather Game for us, as we can now turn our attention to the game after your game next week, and look ahead to Arizona State Ranked Number 15. Your season is OVER.

And, don’t give me this you’re mad stuff. I think you were mad last night after the FLUKE Win by Intramural Vandy over the LameCocks last year. You could not do a thing about it.

Your return to the Top 25 could be a long, long, long, long, long time – many years from now. You will NEVER live this one down.

It could not have happened to a Bigger Bunch of Losers. Wonderful. You don’t care about having Winning Football in Columbia. You Never have and Never Will.

“The USC Trojans football program, established in 1888, is a member of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I-A and the Pacific Ten Conference (Pac-10) under head coach Pete Carroll. The Trojans have been a football powerhouse throughout NCAA history, making claim to 11 national championships in total.”…Here are the years USC has been national champions:

1928 Dickinson poll (other sports historians consider Georgia Tech to have been designated the national championship this year) 1931 Consensus national champion 1932 Consensus national champion 1939 Dickinson poll (Texas A&M received the AP national championship) 1962 Consensus national champion 1967 Consensus national champion 1972 Consensus national champion 1974 UPI national champion (Oklahoma received the AP national championship) 1978 UPI national champion (Alabama received the AP national championship) 2003 AP national champion (LSU won the BCS national championship) 2004 Consensus national champion

USC teams have also been selected as national champions in five other years (1929, 1933, 1976, 1979, 2002) by various nationally published ratings systems. These ratings systems are not generally viewed as part of process of selecting the national championship. USC does not claim to have won titles in any of these years.”

I have to work with a lot of Buckeye fans on a daily basis, most are on his level and are blind and have no idea what they’re talking about or even who the Buckeyes are playing from week to week. A few actually know a thing or two about football outside of Columbus and can carry on an intelligent conversation about it. Anyway, ignore him and the others here. Hey Ohio State Buckeyes, why don’t you just admit that you’re not really and OSU fan. No one in the south would be that stupid considering the beatdowns you took for the past 2 years at the hands of SEC teams.

I think you’re a Georgia Tech fan with nothing to brag about, so you pick a wuss team from up north to do your bidding. The comments in your posts, especially your disdain for the SEC, gives it away. The NCAA agreed over a decade ago that the crystal football BCS series would determine the NC and that was LSU holding that ball. Otherwise let’s give Auburn a title and JoePa a couple more for his undefeated seasons. Now let’s look at the big picture if we may. Since 1978 UGA has as many NC’s as USC does. That would be one. I like Pete Carroll and I think the Trojans are an excellent football team. But if so great why the mental let downs the past few years? You guys lost games that you obviously should have won just like UGA has. Frustrating it is. Losing a game that you had no business losing that cost you an NC. Since Richt has been our coach our chances have improved greatly year in and year. But we still manage to lose a game here or there that defies logic. It does take luck to get there too. Ask Les Miles and Rich Rodriguez about last year. Pitt a 30 point dog to WVU? I wish the Rose Bowl had given the country the game we all wanted last year that way we wouldn’t be having this debate. It would have been somewhat determined on the field for better or worst for my dawgs.

Gamecock Gary,

Way to come in and stand up and face the music! We have to respect that. There is a lot of football left to be played and sincerely wish your team good luck in all but next week’s tilt.

That being said, This is the worst Spurrier offense I have ever seen. I just don’t know how he will turn it around this season and think that every SEC game will be an uphill battle for S. Car.

Teams might start going for it on 4th down frequently on the USC side of the field, not fearing that the Gamecocks can put together a drive over 50 yards.

Remember when Spurrier was at Florida.

He ran the Fun & Gun.

Now he’s at South Carolina.

Its the Chicken Coop and Poop.

Spurrier has given up on South Carolina. He doesn’t even care enough to get upset and throw the visor anymore.

THE Ohio State Buckeyes ARE the best college football team in the USA over the last 40 years. You can look it up morons!

LOL, Georgia Tech is the nastiest campus I have ever seen. It reminds me of a lot of industrial areas around Akron.

ALL southern SEC and ACC schools are sub standard. Academically AND Anatomically.

Simply put the south is full of stupid morons and mouthy football fans.

End of story (today)

THE ohio state buckeyes- “Simply put the south is full of stupid morons and mouthy football fans.”

Back at you. And about OSU (it’s not TOSU) being the best football program in the last 40 years, keep drinking whatever you’re drinking. How have the last 9 games with SEC teams gone? Go to your own blog and quit cluttering up a team’s blog that can actually beat SEC teams most of the time, if not every single game.

PACWIN

I haven’t posted because I was doing other things, like sleep and then at work, but you can say whatever you want but USC has not won 11 National Championships and I stated why I don’t consider those so called 4 other National Championships that you claim they won. As for 1928, you just proved how delusional you are USC was named on 1 poll- Dickinson and GT was named NC by 8 polls, was unbeatenand and played in the Rose Bowl and won.

The reason I didn’t talk about the 30 bowl wins is because that happens to be true. Now as for GA- We only claim 2 NC but like other teams including USC have been voted # 1 on several other occasions but we don’t claim them unlike some people. As for 1942 GA and Ohio State were both named NC on 6 polls which means both teams were Consensus NC that year, also GA played in the Rose Bowl and beat UCLA who was the # 3 team while Ohio State stayed home. As for Bowl wins GA has won 25 of those themselves.

BTW USC is # 10 and GA is # 11 all time in wins with USC having played 5 more years than Georgia so I would say both teams have storied programs. Also I will repeat myself of all the teams in the PAC 10- USC at this point is the only team that could compete in the SEC.

To the poser- you are the one who has made themselves look like an idiot. My facts come from the NCAA’s official website- NCAA.org/champadmin/iafootballpast_champs.html concerning National Championships. While the other information about # of wins all time, bowl games and other specific facts about Georgia football are from Georgia’s official website- georgiadogs.com

Big Dawg, until each person is required to register a unique name and email address together all a poser has to do is get another free email account to steal your name again if they’re blocked.

AJC has to get serious about cleaning it up or people will eventually quit coming here which is probably part of the reason some of the posers are here. Other reason is they’re just “sick in the head” non puppies.

If you want to “talk’ to the Poser, I know who he is and why he does this. Chip from Yankees Beat is a former friend and co worker of mine, with a bit of a gambling problem. He told me something about a Big Wager in a College Football game between Univ Georgia and Hawaii, I dont even follow this stuff, but he lost alot of $$ green over this game., and as a child throwing a tantrum, well.getmy point. Nice chatting, wont be back, best wishes on whatever your team does.

The Ohio State buckeyes fan must have something against South Carolina. I guess it must be that the gamecocks only 2 bowl wins in their history of football came in back to back whoopings of the buckeyes in 2000 and again in 2001. OSU has the ignominious, dubious distinction of taking A_skickings in bowl games against South Carolina. Obviously it must still stick in this guys head.

Sorry, but that is not true. South Carolina’s last bowl game before beating Ohio State January 1st of 2001 and 2002, was a Victory over West Virginia and South Carolina won their bowl game after beating Ohio State in 2001 and 2002 when South Carolina beat Houston in last bowl game after that too. South Carolina is 4-9 in Bowl Games. But, all 4 of these bowl wins by South Carolina are as an SEC team, where the LameCocks are 4-1 representing The SEC in bowl games.

Ohio State is 18-21 in Bowls overall and representing the once proud, now not, Big Ten (11) [One.] UGA, by direct comparison is 24-16-3, all representing The SEC including the bowl win over Ohio State as well when Mitch Davis shut the suckeyes down on defense while Garrison Hearst lit them up for 163 yards rushing in 1993.

.

That’s not true at all. Nebraska and Michigan has significantly more Wins over the Last 40 years.

http://football.stassen.com/cgi-bin/records/calc-wp.pl?start=1968&end=2007&rpct=1&min=1&ss=on&se=on&c1a=on&pt=on&by=Wins

Nebraska, for example has 389 Wins, while Ohio State (playing cupcake strength of schedules) has 363 wins.

If you are going to make crap up, how about being at least close to be right, do you mind ?

Do you seriously think you can come in here and say that Ohio State is the Best College Football Team in the Last 40 years, look it up morons, and no one would when you already admitted we know MORE ABOUT FOOTBALL THAN YOU.

In the last 40 years, Ohio State is -0- Wins (None) (Nada) in Bowl Games against The SEC, and 10 Consecutive Straight Losses in a Row and Counting.

As a Matter of Fact, Ohio State has NOT EVER BEAT The SEC in a Bowl Game. Look that up you biased Northerner who is Jealous as All Get-Out of us here in The Bible Belt, Sun Belt and Prosperous South where all you damn Yankees come down here to take all your Vacations and now stay to live.

The population of Atlanta is 5 and a half million people. Would the last person leaving Cleveland, please turn the lights out.

9 of these are end of the season bowl games and 1 is in-season to begin the season.

LSU tied Ohio State once. LSU is 1-1-1 against Ohio State and there is not 1 SEC team in the history of mankind who has a Losing Record to Ohio State.

The facts on Ohio State are that Ohio State has the single worst credibility of any football team in all of America today.

Ohio State’s Official NCAA Strength of Schedule for 2007-2008 including being allowed to step on the field against an SEC team in the bowl game was Number 38 in the nation. UGA was Number 7 by direct comparison. Do you think this has anything to do with the fact that UGA ended the season ranked Number 2 in the Final AP Poll while Ohio State ended up Number 5 ?

http://web1.ncaa.org/d1mfb/Internet/toughest%20schedule/ia9gamescumm.pdf

And, as for the Academics of your DAMNED FOOTBALL TEAM compared to UGA’s, please note the Academic Progress Rate (APR) as of April 2008 is only 942 APR for Ohio State to UGA at 965.

Nice win on Sat., but I have concerns about USC and Arizona State. The Ole Ball Coach is hot after losing to Vandy, and will most likely take it out on the Dogs.

ASU crushed Stanford this week, and is rolling in the Pac-10. UCLA kicked UT to the curb, so I now have major concerns that the wheels are coming off in game 3 and 4.

I am disappointed how self-centered Moreno is and over-confident. It will be another season as usual with high expectations, then the usual 3-4 game losses, then it is back to another Chicken Bowl.

Ugh!
