UGA blog finds new home
Morning all. As I’ve said a couple of times this week, we’re converting this blog over to a WordPress platform and it will be a permanent move the first of next week.
Those of you who are regulars probably know that I’m not what you’d call techno-wizard when it comes to these things. But from what I understand the technology offered in this new format should make the blogging and commenting experience better for all. Of course, I’ll be learning as we go along, too. But I’m hoping to provide more pictures and video and things like that which should bring the blog more to life.
Of course, this blog is nothing without all you guys so I want to heartily invite (read: beg) you to come over to the new site by CLICKING HERE ON THE NEW ADDRESS and save it in your browsers. As of Monday, Feb. 23rd, this will be the permanent home of the UGA blog you so love or, in the case of some of you, love to loathe. If you’d prefer to copy and paste or just memorize, the new address is: http://blogs.ajc.com/uga-sports-blog/.
See at the new place!

A beautiful weekend for football
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Greetings Dogs fans. It is an absolutely gorgeous day here in Athens. Almost cool outside with a steady breeze giving off the faintest hint of fall. Hopefully it’s a prelude to what we’ll have for tomorrow’s game between Georgia and Georgia Southern.
I don’t care who you are but this time of year really stirs the senses. Driving across town yesterday and today, I’ve already spotted several RVs with Georgia flags a-flappin’ coming in on 316 and on the Loop. Even saw a couple of cars with Georgia Southern flags coming through Watkinsville from Statesboro. Word is the Eagles are going to show up in good numbers for this one. I’ve heard from a lot of their fans who are also Bulldogs’ fans so it has to be a pretty cool situation from them. Or confusing.
Last day of the week, obviously, so I want to empty out my notebook of quotes and facts I wasn’t able to get into the paper this week. I’ve also scoured the web for other Georgia and SEC stories of interest and included links here.
As for tomorrow’s game I think it’s only sensible that everybody give me their score predictions. I’ll check back after the game and see if anybody hit it right on the nose. Maybe I can get you a T-shirt or something if you do (hey, lean times, you know). Also, let me know what you’re most excited about seeing. That’ll give me a good idea of want you’re most interested in as I determine what we cover during Saturday’s game.
OK, to the leftovers and links… .
At least it’s not VanGorder
Georgia coach Mark Richt is a big fan of Eagles’ coach Chris Hatcher but he admitted he’s glad his good buddy Brian VanGorder is not still the coach.
“If Coach VanGorder would have come? Well, it’s always awkward because not only is Brian a former coach on our staff but he’s been a friend of mine for 20-something or 30-something or I don’t know how many years,” Richt said. “I’ve known Brian and his family a long time. His wife, Holly, I’ve known since I was a kid. So that’s always uncomfortable to play somebody you know. I remember at Florida State, we had a game early on [VanGorder was DC at UCF] and it seemed like a fun thing until we got down t the nitty-gritty of playing it and then it just wasn’t much fun. You certainly don’t want to lose to you friends.”
One reporter brought up a good question. He asked CMR if he’d asked BVG about the Eagles’ personnel.
“No, I didn’t think to ask,” Richt said.
Good thing as there is very little leftover from BVG’s brief tenure there.
Georgia’s D ‘pretty good’
I asked CMR to finish this sentence: Georgia’s defense has a chance to be …
“Pretty good, I hope,” he said. “You know, we’ve got as lot of returning players, a lot of returning starters. Guys that know what they’re doing, guys that understand how to play the Georgia way. I’m confident that they’ll get after it pretty good.”
Mark Schlabach of ESPN then asked if Richt thought it was the fastest they’ve had.
“I wouldn’t necessarily say it’s the fastest. It’s hard to gauge. I really think we looked faster than usual last year because I know we played more guys than usual. The more guys you play the fresher they are and the faster they look. You can go hard two or three plays. If you can get another guy going in there hard for two or three plays and another guy comes in, then other guy comes back rested and ready to go again, that’s what I think the difference is.
“I was watching us play Tennessee back in 2001 [on video[ not long ago. We counted like 15 guys on that defense that went on to play in the NFL, just on that film, guys that went in and out of that game. Almost every guy on that tape went to the NFL and played and started at one time or another. So that was a pretty good defense. That was the year we got to Georgia. The year before was when they had [Marcus] Stroud and [Richard] Seymour and Kendrell Bell and corners like [Jamie] Henderson and like five guys that started as NFL rookies. That’s some pretty good defensive players.”
Spurrier’s a softie
If you watched South Carolina’s game against N.C. State Thursday night you probably noticed the good play of tailback Mike Davis. You might have had a hard time telling that he’s suspended. Coach Steve Spurrier suspended Davis for a game recently but it’s for a game to be named later, likely one of their weak non-conference opponents according to the Columbia State. That’s showing them, Coach.
Arizona State’s tough blow
The Sun Devils, Georgia’s opponent in Game Four, proudly unveiled a new $8.4 million indoor practice facility this year. But the new digs incurred some damage from a recent thunderstorm. Hey, it doesn’t rain much but, when it does, boom!
Fan wants more passion
Here’s a guest editorial from a Georgia fan in collegefootballnews.com who wants to see the Dogs’ fans get more fired up during games at Sanford Stadium and help create more of a home-field advantage. I don’t know for sure but it seemed plenty advantageous to me during the Auburn game last year.
I WILL BE BLOGGING BEFORE, DURING AND AFTER TOMORROW’S GAME FOR THOSE OF YOU THAT WILL BE NEAR A COMPUTER. BE SURE TO LET ME HEAR FROM YOU IF YOU ARE. HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND!

Dawgs 44-13.
USC looked pretty good on defense last night…then again NCSt’s second string qb looked like he was 13. That was too bad what happened to their starter, he had them moving the ball pretty good at times.
UGA should be fine in Columbia in a couple of weeks if the O-line comes together. USC’s O-line looked pretty lousy on their part, our D should eat them for lunch. Let’s hope the boys in the silver britches can take care of business tomorrow and next week against a pretty good Central Michigan team and roll into Columbia ready to get the SEC schedule off on a good start.

I watched the entire SC/NC game, and the score wasnt really reflective of how easily SC couldve lost, if state rs/frosh qb didnt get hurt it couldve been a different outcome. While he wasnt playing great behind center he was moving the ball and making plays w/ his legs.
Only winning 3-0 at halftime w/3 turnovers, LOU HOLTZ still was holding fast to his pregame assement that SC can win the SEC EAST and they have a great offense…but this same person who picked NDame to win 11 games this year!!!
SC defense looked good, but I just don’t see UGA coming to Columbia and letting that offense beat us.

Besides the victory, the biggest thing I want to see is an injury-free game.
Also, it’d be real nice to see some explosion from our WRs (maybe AJ?), the ground game to dominate (it should), and Blair Walsh to hit all his kicks.

Did anyone hear ESPN’s Mark May the other night say that the gamecocks were the most underrated team in the SEC East… then he said it was because they had a new OC in Dave Clawson and Arian Foster as their running back… last time I checked Clawson and Foster were at Tenn.??? He must have been hittin on what Louie was hittin on before the show.

I don’t know guys, personally I didn’t see anything great about that SC Defense. Looks like if you run the sprint draw 40 times and not snap the ball over the QBs head, complete a short pass every now and then, wouldn’t be too hard to control that team.

Chip, I have to say the score will be 48-6.
I don’t see GSU scoring a TD, but I don’t see us scoring 50, because that’s not something Mark Richt likes to do to other teams.
As for Fake Bob, I’m certainly not ashamed of being 28 and attending college later in life, or of dedicating my life to teaching when I graduate. Maybe in your bizarro world-view, these are things you may be ashamed of, but not me.
The only harm you do to yourself is when you tie the knot too tight during your hourly auto-erotic asphyxiation ritual while looking at Playgirl. Not that there’s anything wrong with that.
I’ve nothing to be ashamed of in anything in my life. Somehow, I think, you have much shame. Why else do you hide? No matter. I’m going through the processes of finding out who you are. It’s really not that hard once you get the IP Address. Even in a public domain, people can be found. But I think you’re stupid enough to have posted at least once from your home computer.
Gotta love the Patriot Act.
Cheers, Fake Bob. Be seeing you.

I like how last night Lou and Mark May were talking about Hawaii this year and how UGA beat them down last year, and Mark May says, “Hawaii was sooo overmatched in that game”, like he was expecting UGA to roll them from the get-go. However, he had picked Hawaii to beat UGA before that game. He is such a loser!

I agree that their should be a bigger home field advantage! It shouldn’t take a blackout to get EVERYONE fired up. The student section is always hopping, but, and I know a lot of you are going to hate hearing this, our alumni absolutely stink. They sit down the whole game and occassionally get loud if it’s a REALLY big down (like hold ‘em hear and win the game big). We have one of the biggest stadiums in the country, it’s time we made use of it! Alumin: Get out of your seats and make some noise! Every defensive play! If you don’t have a horrible headache and a soar throat after the game, you’re not doing something right. I feel like I’m about to pass out by the 4th quarter of every game from screaming so much. If everyone did this, we’d be reallllly tough to beat at home.

Where is Gamecock Henry and the rest of the Carolina fans that were talking so much smack on these blogs? Pretty bad when your Cocks win 34-0 but don’t want to talk about it. There was only one positive note about that game last night…your special teams looked good. You might say finding out that Beecher is not the answer to the QB situation was a postive. You better get it turned around real quick GAMECOCK NATION. Also, please don’t chant “SEC….SEC” when your team is a disgrace on national TV to a bottom tier ACC team.

Bernie’s Blog…A Challenge To All UGA Fans
By Josh Bernstein CollegeFootballNews.com Posted Aug 26, 2008
With the season about to kick off it’s high time for the fans to take notice on how much they matter. Unfortunately UGA fans come up short at times in supporting their team when at home. Yes, Dawg fans pack Sanford Stadium, but it’s what they do after they take their seats that needs to change…
Last year there was a significant attitude change with Georgia coach Mark Richt. He instilled passion and energy to a team of young Dawgs that needed an emotional kick in the rear. This year the adjustment needs to come from a few more people…namely the 92,000 or so fans who wear red & black inside Sanford Stadium. And just to clear the air, I am one of those 92,000.
This hurts me to write but at some times Sanford Stadium seems more timid and mellow than a house of horrors for Bulldog opponents. I’ve been to Neyland, Williams-Brice and have heard enough about the Swamp to know that the Bulldog Nation falls way behind in creating that home-field advantage truly needed. UGA may finish first in the SEC East, but right now their fans are ranked fourth in supporting the home team from start to finish. The fair-weather fans who walk into the house that Dooley & Hershel built, must turn into all-weather fans.
Georgia fans at times seem to wait for good things to happen then cheer, rather than trying to create noise and passion on their own. I would classify the crowd as loud and enthusiastic – not hostile and intimidating as the other fan bases listed above. I’m not saying that all of those who cheer for the Dawgs are timid, but at times it seems like the fans need to be awakened by a great play rather than be loud and hostile from the start. There’s only really been three or four times where I couldn’t hear myself think in Sanford Stadium and that needs to change starting this Saturday.
It’s time for the Bulldog Nation to show up and not just support the Dawgs, but truly make Sanford Stadium a place that NOBODY wants to play. Put it this way, a 12:00 pm start at Neyland Stadium was more intimidating than any Georgia game I’ve ever been to.
Last year I sat in the alumni section and at times I was embarrassed. People would chit-chat and socialize. There’s a time for that and it’s called tailgating. During key defensive series fans would sit on their hands rather than stand up and blow out their vocal chords to support Willy Martinez’s defense. Frankly, I’m sick of this and I am sending this challenge to ALL in the Bulldog Nation who read this and ask that you pass this fellow Bulldogs who will be at the game Saturday. UGA has the #1 team in the nation that’s primed and ready to win it all. We need to support our top-ranked team with a top-flight fan base that makes any game “between the hedges” a miserable day or night for those teams who visit Athens. And that needs to start way before the first touchdown, interception or sack by the Dawgs.
I expect this challenge to be met on Saturday afternoon.
Agree? Disagree? Think I’m nuts? Let me know right here.

Dawgs 31-10. We’re not gonna run any firepower plays in this one. Just gonna grind it out, and they’ll score a TD on us late. The defense will look good, I think. I want to see Walsh kick a FG and I want to see our OL play well, thats what I am most concerned about.

Agree that the jury is still out on the S. Carolina defense. They looked pretty good, but that first QB moved the ball OK against them and NC STate seemed to be able to run reasaonbly effectively against it. We will find out in a few weeks.
The offense was VERY bad. I’m not sure Spurrier can fix it all that much. They are going to have to win games 14-10 if they are to be successful.

I have said the same thing about our fans in Sanford Stadium for years. I am almost forty years old and I LOVE to yell and bark the entire game. With all sincerity, I appreciate the money, but I have to wonder why you would subject yourself to a live, game day setting if you simply want to SIT and watch the game, instead of participating. It is much more comforatble at home and the cameras cover the angles better. The reason to go to a game is to be A PART of the experience. Please, stand up and cheer. Or, at least, do not glare at those around you who choose to participate.

It’s funny when these little south carolina fans write on our blog. South Carolina pulled the second biggest upset of the year last year (behind app. st.) and are usually barely an afterthought to the DAWGS. This year’s game will be somewhere in the range of a 31-3 or 34-10 type blowout and the DAWGS will get to rest starters once again. After watching the division 2esque gamecocks last night the above mentioned scores may even be generous. Bottom tier schools like south carolina just can’t really compete. Sorry. Just stating the truth. GO DAWGS!!!

I’m as fired up, loud, and stand up as much as any Alum in the building, but if I hear one more person p** and moan about how THEY think everyone else has to act at a football game, I am going to throw up. Been to 20+ plus years worth of them, and its plenty loud when something is worth louding.
If all those other teams have such a great home field advantage, how come we beat em there more than not? “hostile and intimidating” my big toe. It’s pretty interesting that folks claim that they know what other stadiums are like. Could that have possible been, oh I dont know, a HUGE game against UGA when you visited? And its loud? No kidding! And then compare that to Sanford for the sisters of the blind game. So UGA alum were socializing and sitting on thier hands the last time Tn or SC came to town huh? rrrrrrrrright.
The climate at UGA, its proximity to a major metro modern city, the demographics of its base………..it IS what it IS.
Enjoy the game and STFU about everyone else.

I want to see what A.J. Green is gonna do. I”m also interested in the play of the OL. I want to see if Matt Stafford is more accurate with his throwing.

I’m also interested in the play of blair Walsh. We will have a few close games. Walsh is a freshman kicker. He missed a 45-yarder in that simulation game. I’m just concerned if he’s gonna be able to handle the pressure.

AltamahaDawg:
I never said that this is how fans should act. G-d bless you for screaming your guts out each game. I wish more alums were like you EVERY game.
It’s your money and you should be able to do what you want with it. It’s not my place to badmouth anyone so if they want to sit on their butts the entire game so be it. So if you thought that was my point, you’re mistaken.
I can’t force things on others, I was just making a suggestion and it shouldn’t take big plays or top ranked opponents for people to get fired up from the start of the game to support the Dawgs.
Also, my story is not from an independent blog, it’s from Collegefootballnews.com. I’m not a professional blogger, I’m an unpaid one with a full-time job on the side. I do it because I love the Dawgs and I enjoy writing as well.
I’ve gotten over twenty e-mails all in support of my article so I’m guessing it’s not just me who thinks this way.
Either way, Dawg fans I ask that you all prove me wrong and get loud and obnoxious from the start of the game tomorrow. And if you still want to argue, you can e-mail me. It’s listed at the end of my article…

I think my problem is when the alumni tell me to sit down when it is 4th and 1 inside the ten with our defense trying to make a stop. I understand the alumni “I paid my money and no one can tell me how to act” mentality. But I won’t apologize for asking people to get excited just like I want stop high fiving people I don’t know after a great play at every game I have ever been to.
Our alumni are generally fantastic and great to young bulldog fans in school when I was there. Still wouldn’t mind a little more enthusiasm and still not ready to give up because we live near Atlanta. Also, driving in Atlanta, people hear yell pretty good and are pretty darn hostile.

To much MBL last night, couple that to a really boring game and I fell asleep. Figured to hear ole lamecock cockadoodledoo a little. Don’t get to high there henry, just further to fall.
South Carolina not very impressive last night IMO, even with the lopsided score. NC State even less so but what did you expect.
I believe the Dawgs get off to a fast start, scoring early and often putting it away the first half. Look for a slow second half with a lot of folks playing, Southern may put a few points on the board the 2nd half.
Should be able to find the game at Beef o Brady’s or Baumhower’s over this way.
Tybee, when I feel like a good beer I usually go find a good micro brewery, I like an IPA….

…and the # of times that somebody has told you SIT down, 4th and 1 inside the 10? I dont know where you folk are sitting, I’ve been in about every section there is and I dont get that. I have stood up and watched every 4th and 1 for 20 yrs and never had anyone complain. I suspect that isnt the play where that guy got upset at you. That being said, I am not going to stand the entire time. Like it or not, some of our L5-S1s are what they used to be, and I’m not there to have somebody rudely telling me when to stand. (anymore than when to sit down).
my point(s) gentlemen is this:
1. You’re preaching to the choir in here. 2. Some people are just aszholes and that didn’t start at a football game. But 99 out of a hundred are NOT glaring at you for cheering thier team. 3. While you might not start acting like a fat ol grumpy fart anytime soon, you are going to get the point where you really arent there to prove anything to anyone, and just don’t care what the other guy does. Just do your thing, and let him do his thing. In short, you can’t say “hey dont tell me how to act, but let me tell”. It has nothing to do with who paid what. 4. I agree with everyone, it is better to get into it, its certainly an occation to do so, its what I go for BUT complaining because somebody who isnt going to give a hoot what you think isnt going to do exactly what you want, and when….. Is there some point to that?josh, Extremely good responce from you and thanks. I suspect you are going to appreciate the crowd on this particular year.
That was my last words on that topic. Now GO Dawgs.

Ladies and Gentlemen; Are you ready for some football?? Let’s get it on!! Now, I must admonish ya’ll for EVEN paying ANY attention to either Lou Holtz or Mark May. They are liars and dillusional idiots as well. The thought of Mark May saying Hawaii was overmatched in the S-Bowl last New Year’s night after he was picking them to win is pitiful.Someone ought to run a tape of his prediction, and then ask for his justification of why he thinks s.carolina is so great. What a track record. Why continue listening to these fools as well as that failed coach fool that comes on Saturday am with Gameday? Do as I do and switch to C-Span when they come on during the half time. If the Dogs play ball like they are capable, no worries ‘til Tempe. But, any let up and all bets are off. Hope the ugly effort with south carolina last year will linger over, and show them the way. And to all the s. carolina fans out there screaming SEC, SEC, STFU!! None of the old line SEC schools respect you, and do not want you in the league. Guess s. carolina paid off the league enough to get admitted in the early ‘90’s. You are an old ACC school, which along with Clemson served as the whipping boy for the SEC teams for a lot of years. But, I do admire your fans pluck and moxie.

Dawgs 38 - Eagles 13 Any t-shirt is fine but I’d prefer a red (or black); size XL.
The real question I have is if Coach Richt would run up the score to help influence UGA’s ranking. Having seen Tech get smashed 51 - 7 I think he might. Coach Richt didn’t run up the score on FSU when he could have so maybe whoever the opponent is could be a factor.
By the way Coach Richt was on ESPN radio this morning. He said (i) he’s getting 3 to 5 times more media contacts over last year, (ii) he is tired of answering the same questions over and over (my paraphrase, but I’m sure it’s accurate), and (iii) he thought South Carolina was the SEC team that was underrated (because of their defense and coaching).
Wish I could make it. Go Dawgs!

Thanks for the kind words, feel free to email me anytime. See my “blog” for my address.
To everyone else here are 10 other thoughts:
I’d rather go 8-4 with a great man like Mark Richt as our head coach than go 10-2 with someone like that arrogant, pompous, rear end Urban Creyer coaching my school. It’s nice to win, but it’s not everything at the end of the day.
It’s going to be hot as hell tomorrow.
Knowshon Moreno will be the second most loved player in UGA fb history and if the dawgs win it all with this schedule and he takes the heisman, well watch out Hershel.
To those who bet on the “UGA VII is going to be a white english bulldog” line in Vegas…congrats you’re a winner.
This may just be me, if Arkansas is leading Florida in the 4th quarter this year, I’d root for the Hogs to pull it off but I’d vomit afterwards. That being said if Florida is going to win that game they may as well hang 70 on that jerk Bobby P.
Let’s home that Gustav is an LSU fan and spares Louisiana.
Clemson wins by 17.

54-3. I got it from a mayonaise jar on Funk and Wagnols back porch. My apologies to the Southern fans, the backups score the most points. Heck Southern could score 10, but I would be amazed if we scored less than fifty. This is not the Southern teams of old.
On a more festive note. USC east bites. In the words of the father of one of their starters, “We got nuthin.” Yeah no kidding. Anyone see their All American LB Jasper Brinkley, he played at least five plays. He is over twenty pounds overweight. How many starting LB’s weigh 270 lbs. I guess he could fall on Knowshon. But his days of running down any running back like he did at Thomson High are over. Lamecock Henry, don’t bother to show up at the fairgrounds. Breaking news, Steve Supperior announces his resignation on September 14.
Just having fun, but USC is no road block this year, they are not even a yield sign.

Hey Alt, where’s Shane??? Me and a friend of mine were at one of the smaller games 2 years ago and were actually asked to sit down by some old farts behind us. We stood up pretty much the whole game and they asked us 2 or 3 times and we finally told them to go f’ck themselves.
This Alum thing is really bad. There are some 80 year olds that have the tailgating pass right at the stadium. Now, that’s great, they probably contribute about 100k every year, but they’re not making any noise. This team needs to have LSU type fans on gameday. Sometimes, Sanford is rockin, but more than not…….it’s not. Every game I’ve gone to, I’ve pretty much lost my voice the next day, and hell, I’m 44. The student section is great. I hate they are kinda screwin them over with this split ticket package. Thank you Mr. Adams.
Let’s have a good showing with Ga Southern. Can’t drop the ball on this one. (No pun intended)

To clear things up once and for all.
I DON’T have my own blog, I write for CollegeFootballNews.com (part of Scout.com) which is probably the most informative college football website out there. The site has great views on every conference and great columnists (who are actually columnists and not biased like Terrance Moore). I am classified as a “blogger” b/c I’m unpaid and submit articles when I have the time to write them.
Put it this way, some of these guys at the AJC could take some lessons from CFN.

Huh, shane is gone, he got tired of having his name kidnapped by homophobic Tech fans. I just ignore the idiots who steal mine. Last week I had a post about me getting up with some guys at the time I was at a movie with my disabled daughter. I came home to find out that according to the AJC I made some gay comments while in a movie theatre. I care less about color, creed, sex or sexual preference. shane got tired of it and left. The AJC could stop it if they wanted, they have our e-mail adresses. Chip cares, his bosses are a bunch of panty waisted wusses who care more about numbers on a blog than about running a classy blog that could be respected. Sometime before the game starts, someone will pose as me, happens all the time. Idiotic pathetic losers who must be miserable to steal someone else’s name and post fake comments other than using their own handle and commenting on the merits of football. Belive it or don’t, I feel sorry for these idiots. Something in their life made them this twisted. I hope and pray they come to grips with it one day before someone finds them hanging in a closet like a suit of clothes.

Cuz, I really hate that Shane MAY be gone. He was one of my south ga buddies that could relate to how BIG Ga football is outside of Atlanta. This Atlanta melting pot of people from all over the country just doesn’t get it. They bring their teams with them and want to b!tch when we talk Ga football. Then, they say that the SEC and GA are not the only teams that are relevant. They’ve obviously never been beyond the 100 mile radius of Atlanta.
Non Ga people….understand this…when you get even close to Macon….you won’t find anything BUT Georgia!! But that’s the way it’s supposed to be! If your state is not the same way, then you are probably part of the PAC 10.
I think some of our out-of-conference friends move down here and realize how passionate us southern folks are about OUR teams that they’re the one’s that come on here and talk smack.
Go ahead…………run your mouth. We’ve got a tough road to hoe. We know that. We don’t need your flapping jaws to say a dam thing. We fans beat ourselves up enough without any help from you guys.

As an alum, I have to admit that the Physics dept. at UGA is not up to snuff. Otherwise you guys would have figured out that the acoustics between the hedges simply do not work like they do in other places… like say Jordon - Hare. Sound reverberates there like you are inside a canyon. The open bowl slope of the lower stands in our arena , a product of the original stadium being built into the natural hill that borders the creek which created this little canyon (which now runs though a tunnel underground toward the graveyard on the other side of the tracks). It is much the same in the Rose Bowl, where 100,000 can sound less imposing than , say, 35,000 in a place like Death Valley in Clemson. That means that there must have been some serious energy to produce the rumble felt during that Auburn Game last year. Old timers talk about other games when the same thing happened… the Alabama game in 76 comes to mind, and the South Carolina game in 80 was a rowdy sound… but the fact is we will never have the cushion of an effective echo chamber like our brethren in Auburn or Clemson. We will have to earn any respect that others have for a home field advantage… so how about? Are we ready?

I’ve got to check out that Josh Berstein blog sometime.
Cuz, the real reason to feel sorry for those guys is that thier entire college football passion is all about what some rival team did 2 years ago. Very sad. It’s a lot more fun to actually pull for your own team boys, even when they aren’t so hot. We did.
Lou Holtz…I thought he called them the Peregrines…… and great new segment there…….be nice to your wife? uh-huh…
and ok THIS is my last word on the previous subject………our football team is where it is today because of tackling dummies, weight benches, and highly PAID coaches that know how to recruit good football players..and 20,000 cheeseburgers..being over 30 and paying for all that stuff does NOT make every Alum a bad guy. Losing your voice screaming at the game is something you do for yourself, you enjoy it. Let’s be honest and not overexagerate that sacrifice for the team. Now somebody getting in the way of you vicariously feeding your innner warrior, that’s not too cool, but fortunetely that is by far the exception, not the rule.
Again choose your sections wisely.

I hope I’m wrong, but there’s always the strong possibility of the same ol’ CMR sh1t if we start to win by 14+ points, like that’s a sure victory or something. He acts like we’ve got the game sealed up, and starts to lay off. You know, we wouldn’t want to beat a team too bad. No statements or anything like that. I so hope I’m wrong and we lay it to Southern.
