UGA’s Evans competitive as ever
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Little late getting the blog out to you today. I’m at our office in downtown Atlanta today and, ironically enough, was unable to update earlier with a new blog because I was getting some technical training regarding blogs. Nothing fancy mind you — I’m far from what you’d call a techno geek — but we’ve got some nice plans for this space and I’m hoping to make it even more useful and enjoyable for you guys. So, as always, I’m open to you suggestions for ways to improve it and things you might like to see here.
Meanwhile, it was always my intention to blog today about Georgia athletics director Damon Evans. It wasn’t necessarily to get your thoughts and feelings about Damon, though I’m sure you’ll offer them and I’ll welcome them is always. Really I just wanted to share some observations from a recent visit I had with him.
One thing is clear: Evans is now a man very much comfortable in his job and his position. Not that he didn’t always, but four years in he’s noticeably smoother moving through the many different aspects of the job, from speaking to large groups to chairing various committees to interacting with student-athletes and, finally, to dealing with coaches. And look out if you ever get Evans talking about the business and finance aspect of sports. He’ll bowl you over with facts and figures regarding long-term debt and revenue and the like.
But the thing that stood out most to me from a recent meeting is more intangible than that. Evans is very, very, very competitive. It’s easy to forget that it wasn’t that long ago that Evans was an elite athlete himself battling for playing time at Georgia with Andre Hastings and Hassan Graham and the like.
Anyway, like I said, you can still see a lot of that competitive fire in Evans. And that extends especially to football and basketball. One of Evans’ good friends is Florida AD Jeremy Foley. And like all of us, he wants to one-up his buddies. If you haven’t noticed, the Gators have won some basketball and football national championships lately. Georgia hasn’t. This burns up Evans to no end.
Evans is obviously pleased with the progress Georgia has made in football under coach Mark Richt. But he longs for a day when the Bulldogs aren’t just hoping to win championships but absolutely expects them.
But Georgia football has always been a big deal. Evans is a consummate basketball man and that’s an area in which he clearly believes he could make a profound impact. He’s the main reason why the Bulldogs now have a $30 million practice and training facility. And he has some ideas regarding Stegeman Coliseum, too, though he’s hesitant to share them at this point.
Anyway, it was just interesting to listen to Damon to talk with such passion about his hopes and dreams for Georgia athletics. All of which boiled down to one sentence in particular he said to me. “Chip, I can’t tell you how bad I want to win.”
He wasn’t referring to tennis and gymnastics.
JENNA MARINA WILL PROVIDE A PRACTICE UPDATE BELOW LATER THIS AFTERNOON.

I hope Damon Evans ideas about Stegeman Coliseum means a new Basketball Arena are in the plans in the near future! It’s needed to remain competitive with other SEC & ACC Schools. My gosh, Auburn is even building a new 100 million dollar Basketball Arena.

One thing I really like about Damon Evans is that when he goes out to speak at a TD Club he takes the time to speak with the fans. Everytime I have ever spoke to him for a few minutes he made me feel like he cared about what I had to say and would even give me a few tidbits of info that made me almost feel like he was giving some “insider” stuff. He is a talented communicator. He has also played it really smart over the last several years in letting people get to know him and earn peoples confidence and respect instead of just acting like he already deserved or demanded it.
As far as the blog goes, my suggestions would be to police it better and get some control over the trolls.
Another suggestion would be to maybe reward one of the regulars every now and then by letting them post a topic or two when you go through one of those two week stretches of being “M.I.A.” while there is a blog about moped arrests stinking the joint up. They could e-mail it to you or whoever then ya’ll could edit it and post it.

If you want to win the NC you need to get yourself a new coach who doesn’t recruit thugs and doesn’t actively persue for his players to storm the field and celebrate like they never have scored a TD.
The whole UGA football program is just classless and they try to hide behind a coach with so-called “moral values”.
HA!!
Get a new coach you might just end up winning the big one.

Why don’t we ask DE some tough questions like why does the highest revenue generating sport have such crappy practice facilities and NO INDOOR PRACTICE FACILITY!!!!!! DE should take a visit to Gainesville and see the kind of facilities most elite programs practice in and what they show the recruits when they visit.

I, for one, enjoyed this piece as it gave us a perspective that we don’t normally get - that the AD’s office is not just about budgets and administration.
Thanks for your good work.

Chip, did he mention anything about an Indoor Practice Facility (IPF) for Football?
Dang, Cuz, you should copyright that phrase.
I’d love to hear what his thought\plans are for the Stegosaurus…I agree it at least needs a major face lift…it would be nice if there was another arena in Athens they could use while they tore down Stegeman to build a new arena like they did with the Omni & Phillips…If he can get a IPF built then maybe they could bring in some seating to use it basketball while the Stegosaurus was being replaced

Hey UGA in 08: I found irony in your post… You use Florida as an example of having superior facilities to those in Athens while UGA and Florida are the only programs in the SEC without and indoor practice facility. Evans and Richt have both stated that an indoor practice facility is “on the list”, but there are higher priorities. The lack of an indoor practice facility certainly hasn’t hampered recruiting! Besides the lack of an indoor practice facility, in what way is UGA’s practice facilities inferior to others in the SEC?

Hammerhead, it is the quality of the toilet paper in the facilities. If they only used Charmin, the facilities would be equal or superior to any other in the SEC.

HEY CHIP!!!
I have some serious STADIUM RENOVATION questions for you.
These questions apply to both Sanford Stadium and to the Stegosaurus.
Okay, here’s the deal with the buildings on “todays” Georgia Campus: they’re all beautiful brick buildings that harken to the days of Georgia’s past, while being the tops as far as new tech goes.
Just look at the SLC and soon to be finished Tate II.
So my question is, when are our two sports stadiums going to reflect this new, great-looking trend in campus architecture?
I look at the main gate under the bridge at Sanford and it looks cheap. barbwire on top of chain-link fences with dingy little concrete ticket booths?
Why not have some wonderful wrought iron gates which proudly proclaim this stadium for what it is: the best-looking stadium in all of college football, as far as all of the additions being added and such go (not like the erector-set stadiums in Gainesville and Knoxville).
Also, along the outside of the stadium, instead of bare concrete, why not brick up some of the open concourses so the outside of the stadium looks like the new buildings across Sanford Drive, which it shares its space with? Get a nice brick facade going, with some big columns like the SLC has, and now we’re talking about a true, stately and regal stadium in the finest Southern traditions.
Besides, with Tate II and the new “park” that actually highlights the creek that runs underneath the stadium, Sanford really needs some nice sprucing up like the wrought iron main gate and a nice brick facade would bring.
Same think with the Steg. Why build such a wonderful practice facility and attach it to the Steg which on the inside is really nice (though the concourses need expanding), but on the outside it looks like a dump? And the inside is nice. It doesn’t need more seats at all, and the acoustics are nice (my ears are still ringing from the Kentucky game two seasons ago!) and plenty loud when the fans actually care.
They need to tear down the outside walls (they can do this because the ceiling is self-supported), expand the concourses, and put up a new brick exterior that matches the practice facility.
But keep the roof! It’s iconic at this point, but in need of a fresh coat of paint.
These are just some ideas which I think will not only improve our signature facilities and help with recruiting, but it will make one of the most beautiful campuses in American that much more beautiful.
Besides, when the athletic department is running 20 million in the black (which helps pay for things like Tate II), they can kick back some of that money for refurbishments like this.
Now, if we can just get Evans and Adams to finally allot a fair percentage of the seats at Sanford for students as compared to other SEC schools, thereby giving the Dawgs an actual homefield advantage, then we’ll be getting somewhere.

PRACTICE UPDATE Hello out there.
Just got back from a glimpse of practice. For those of you who don’t know who I am, I’m the summer intern helping out fearless leader Chip with Georgia’s preseason coverage. Any way, nothing huge to report in the four sessions we got to watch but:
Two players have been added to the green, non-contact jersey list: Starting MLB Dannell Ellerbe and backup TB Kalvin Daniels. Richt will hopefully address why after practice.
Georgia is continuing to be cautious with receiver A.J. Green. Green was pulled out of Monday’s scrimmage after three receptions because his hip flexor was bothering him. Green wasn’t wearing a non-contact jersey today, but he didn’t participate in the early throwing drills.
That’s it for now. We’ll keep you posted.

UGA’s expectations for this season is perhaps the biggest Atlanta sports story of the year, and an INTERN is down in the trenches. Good grief. I am shellshocked.

Thank you Bob Sacamano! I’ve had some very similar thoughts about the upgrades our sports venues could make. Tennessee is actually doing something very similar to what you’ve discussed, with their stadium (which, though Neyland is an icon I can appreciate, truly could use it), and it looks much better.
I would just add that while the new Sanford expansion is nice, it could use a little help too. I can deal with the loss of its beautiful symmetry, but the stairways at either end look like unfinished stacks of center blocks. I honestly thought for the longest time after construction completion that they weren’t finished. Is their nothing that could be done to improve the aesthetics of this, IMHO, eye sore.
Lastly, let’s face it; the view from inside and around the stadium could be vastly improved with the demolition of those green, monstrous throwbacks to the whimsical architecture of the 60s (by this I mean the entire “Hill” dorm community. Imagine looking out from Sanford Stadium on a fall Saturday afternoon towards that hill and seeing the East Campus Village.
I won’t even touch central campus.

Seriously? the AJC has selected a Gator Grad to report on UGA’s summer camp? I’m not concerned about info going back to coach crier, but last time I checked there was a large school of journalism that I’m sure they could pull a less controversial and maybe even UGA enthusiastic intern from!

Jesus H. Christ. The intern on the beat blog is a Gator who worked for the student newspaper covering the Gators. Now that interview with Tech fans dissing the Dawgs makes sense. Oh heck, lets just give her the playbook so we can make it fair when we play in Jax. Has the AJC totally lost it’s collective mind. Put her on the dang Tech blog, they don’t play the Gators. Oh I am sure that now she is the UGA beat intern, she has disassociated herself from UF completely and will be totally objective. Yeah when pigs fly. What idiot thought this up, can’t blame the ignorant slut Carter Strickland, he is gone with the wind. Looking forward to some real objective journalism here. I would say the same if I was a Gator and they put a Red and Black sportswriter as the Gator beat intern. 1 plus 1 no longer equals 2. Guess I will take her reports with a grain of salt the size of my dang living room.

The rest of you stop acting like someone is gonna steal your pacifier. Show some class. You’re acting like Tech fans.
Besides, as of last year the Dawg Blogger who was universally acclaimed as the best in DawgNation (including a national nomination for “Best Mainstream Sports Blog”) was David Ching, of the Columbus (Ga.) Ledger-Enquirer. David’s an Auburn grad. Didn’t hear any of you ninnies whining about him stealing the Dawg playbook. One or two of you numbnutz may also recall that several fairly decent Dawg coaches also matriculated to us from elsewhere. Eh, Coach Dooley, Erk and CMR? Chris, sure I am going overboard, if you read my posts on a continuing basis you would realize that sarcasm is one of my favorite forms of expression. As I wrote in a previous blog, why did she not find some Ohio State fans and ask if they thought the Dawgs were overrated. Tech fans and students, they hate us and I understand why.
Jimmy what is objective about saying two players have been added to the green non contact jerseys. That is like saying the recent rain has caused the grass in Sanford stadium to be cut twice a week instead of once per week as usual.
I have a question for all readers of this blog. What is my intent for these last posts I have made? And I will give you a freebie, it is not to run her off. But there is an answer, there is a method to my madness. The winner gets a visit to my observation post on the banks of the Savannah keeping an eye on the Henhouse across the river. Come on guys. Gimme a break! You honestly believe where Jenna went to college means a hill of beans about how she covers the team? Check out the stories she has written for us so far. Even the rival fans’ reaction story to Georgia’s No. 1-ranking — which was assigned to her by an editor who is a UGA graduate by the way — was right down the middle. I’m sure you know that objectivity in reporting is a big portion of what we study in journalism school. She’s one heck of a reporter and writer and has done a good job for us… .
AltamahaDawg: That has been explored and the powers to be are not in favor of it. Remember, as a newspaper we’re all about Freedom of Speech. The less censorship the better. I think there is a difference in censorship and making an effort to hold people to a level of decency that should be reasonably expected from the only source of locally generated print news.
We went through a period of time there when some people were publishing vile descriptions of gay, man on man, sexual acts. They were stealing the user name of good and loyal readers to publish this trash under.
That has very little to do with censorship and a whole lot to do with common decency. Its sad when I finally get my 15 year old interested in something other than playstation… actually reading a newspaper between keeping up with the sports blogs, then I have to be the one to enforce censorship, because the AJC won’t even make an effort to keep it at a PG-13 or even an “R” rating.
There are a lot of very good web-sites that protect the identity of their users and keep the content safe for teenagers and folks who just don’t want to read about gay sex on a sports blog.
Scan for sensibility
Isn’t that just a nice way of telling us to wade through a room that is 3 feet deep with horse manure because there might be a pony in there somewhere?

Chip tell the almighty powers that be, that it is the stealing of another persons blog name that is ticking us off. I don’t want censorship either. At other sites I have to register my name, and no one else can use it. That is all that I, Alt, shane who quit because of it, Gen Neyland, Hunkerdown and others have said. The heck with censorship, but leave us our names so that others don’t pirate them and say things that make us look like homophobic, racist bigots. That is all and should be simple. I think the powers that be are a bunch of dont give a krap wusses that have the intellectual capabilty of a South Georgia G-nat anyway. Collectively, they could not buy a clue, much less rent one. You’re showing your age. I recall when proper language and written expression were the norm, not the exception. We are living in a time where respect is a one way street and chances are, we ain’t going the right direction. Don’t expect it to get better. Many blog sites excercise their property rights and throw out the trash…As Chip says, the ajc wants an open forum, not one limited to common sense and a measure of decency.

Chip——I whole-heartedly endorse what Alta~Dawg, Hunk, Cuz and many other AJC blog regulars have repeatedly requested: user name and e-mail address/password registration. Minimalist registration is NOT CENSORSHIP, and you should know better from whatever introductory course in First Amendment law that you were required to take in J school.
Personally, I believe the AJC’s failure to act is only because of the relatively minimal effort and cost that would be required on the part of the AJC website personnel. If not, your editors and managers surely have a very different view of the First Amendment from that which I studied in my 19 credit hours of undergraduate and law school constitutional law courses. The ability of posers, impersonators and those who share their juvenile sense of humor by disrupting the community of AJC blog regulars is not beyond regulation by a privately owned newspaper. Self-evidently vulgar, libelous and profane statements are not protected by any mainstream judicial interpretation of the First Amendment.
The AJC should be embarrassed by what it permits to be “published” on line on the newspaper’s website. Registration would eliminate a great deal of the most vile posts made under the blog handles of others. The AJC’s failure to implement a minimalist registration program that reserves the blog names of your regulars does a great disservice to itself and to the AJC’s most loyal readers. Your editors’ invocation of “freedom of speech” as an excuse not to do so is sophistry of the worst kind.
PLEASE implement a clean-up of these AJC website blogs. Otherwise, you will be left with only the least desirable bloggers who post only insults, vulgarities and tripe.

Ah, but Atlanta Gator, you are forgetting yourself.
As Cox is bleeding money like something… that bleeds…. the need their advertising money.
And by making people register their names, as they do over at ESPN.com, SI.com, SportingNews.com, and even at other papers like the NY Times and such, that means less people would be hitting these web pages to assume the names of other people to stir up trouble.
Without these idiots, Cox loses half it’s profit margin from advertising.
Come on now… you’re not thinking Gator.

You’re right… I’m getting old. Seems like we have become such an ACLU slanted society that we stomp all over the rights of decent folks to make sure that the scum can get away with anything. The very idea that someone’s posts could not be edited for inappropiate content while they posted it under someone else’s identity because that would somehow be an example of censorship is quite puzzling to me. In fact, it is a crock of bull because they do censor my posts if I use a word like a$$. But someone can steal Shane’s user name and post something about sticking their mandingo johnson up Tebow’s hershey highway (please excuse the vile, but accurate example) and that would be an assault on his constitutional rights????
Give me a break… they just don’t want to spend the time and/or money to police the blog. That’s fine bt don’t try to come off like its about rights when it is really about the lack of desire to do anything about it.
I still think that if someone is caught, purposely stealing another’s user name, so that they can carry on some type of troll activity that person’s e-mail address should be blocked from the privilage of using the site. Everyone should have to log in with a user name exclusive to their e-mail address and not be allowed to use one that is already taken. That is just plain old standard procedure on 99% of the internet, not censorship or unreasonable.

damon evans and chip towers are both worthless individuals who do not have a clue about anything.
the horrible handling of the basketball coach was the tip of the iceberg for damon evsns who was a below average player and is a figure head for dr. adams. adams runs the athletic department and nothing happens there without adams giving the nod.
coach dooley is the reason georgia is where it is today not damon evans.
chip has usual give softball questions and did not ask tough questions of the lack of vacilities as compared to other sec schools are concern. he let damon evans off the hook because he had his noise up his__.
we have dropped quite a bit since damon took over.

Bob Sacamano——“Thinking” is what this Gator does for a living.
As for your point about blog registration and website hits, I can argue it either way. Intuitively, I believe that happy and loyal blog regulars will generate more website “hits” than a handful of posers and impersonators whose goal appears to be to aggravate regulars and drive them away. I am quite certain that the AJC has access to market research studies on this topic, including what blog reader demographics generate the most hits and the most purchases of potential on-line advertisers’ products and services. If the AJC editors and business people aren’t using such studies, they are damn fools.
BTW, that’s “fewer people,” not “less people.” Also, “it’s” is a contraction of “it is.” “Its” is a possessive pronoun like his, hers and yours (see the pattern?). I recommend that you purchase a copy of Strunk and White’s Elements of Style and read it, especially if you plan to critique the thinking of other bloggers on a regular basis.

I’ve been asking the same question Atlanta Gator of the AJ-C for 20 years on their WebPages here.
Whoever the hell you are.
If you are going to do something TECHNICAL for this blog, how about UNIQUE LOGINS ?
Or, is that asking too much ?
By ............................................BuLLdawg
August 14, 2008 2:28 AM | Link to this
The facts are that the AJ-C coddles the two (2) Tech fans Tech has with their Georgia Tech FOOTBALL PLAYER STILL ON THEIR TEAM charged with RAPE. Only suspended. At UGA, he would be off the team and in fact kicked out by The University. So, while we sensationalize UGA’s 2 players on our roster who were underage drinking this Summer, we coddle Georgia Tech by comparison who also had their ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR of PLAYER PERSONNEL little Joey Hamilton take his 1st paycheck and buy drugs, hit and run, leave the scene, flee police and be found with drugs in his car when he was so drunk that he could not even stand up.
This is why the AJ-C does not require UNIQUE LOGINS to only their blog where every other blog does.
Because they want to coddle the Georgia Tech fans (both of them) who have nothing better to do than attempt to ruin an entire blog forever with their posts as every single one of us - saying nothing.
Otherwise, certainly the AJ-C would have long since done something about UNIQUE LOGINS.
So, don’t come in here Chipper Towers and tantalize us in this UGA Blog that you are going to do something TECHNICAL to improve this blog.
There is but 1 improvement this UGA Blog could use most.
But what would the Tech fans do (both of them), if you did ?
So, you do nothing – as the AJ-C has done since the time it was known as Access Atlanta where you had the same problem 20 years ago; and put this up as a fix.
This is no fix.
Neither will be any TECHNICAL IMPROVEMENT you do the blog.
Because you coddle the Tech fans, both of them.

Gator… really?
First of all, I was agreeing with you, dummy.
Second, the whole concept of ironic humor is totally lost on you, isn’t it. Isn’t being a contraction of is and not.
Secondly, only Bugs and morons chastise someone about proper grammar on a blog.
Seriously, get over yourself for just one second, re-read what I wrote, and understand the underlying context of what I said.
And after that, don’t take yourself so seriously anymore. The daily stress isn’t worth the hassle.

Dear Dogs, Someone please explain why you keep whinning over a indoor practice facility?? It cant be the reason you cant beat UF because they dont have one either. You live in Georgia please explain why cant you practice outside (its not Minnesota or upstate NY) ….the games are still played outside right?? You just spent 2 Mil to honor your beloved Dooley, maybe that should have been used to put a tent so your little precious ones dont get the sniffles.

After sleeping on it I have concluded:
Chip, I realize that it puts you on the spot to keep harping on this. I don’t think there is doubt one that you would do several things to improve the level of conversation in this blog. Still I think we all know what its like to have to maintain the company posture. That wasn’t one of your more convincing arguments. I think we all know where you stand.
But in all due respect, your boss is full of crap. Every person in here had to register a log-on and password to even gain access to the online version of the AJC newspaper. So appearantly, recording that information, is only sensorship if it pertains to talking about games. Maintaning that it’s an affront to Freedom of Speech to carry that through to the voluntary sports comments section is pretty weak. I am pretty certain its a money issue.
I suppose if I write a letter and sign it “Robin Henry” I should be able to say any thing, and it would have to appear in the print version. Or offend my constitutional rights.

I just had to vent. I was watching the ESPN preview of the SEC that’s on the ESPN site. Tom Numberg or Luniberg or whatever his name is picked Florida to win the East because (this is what he said) “That Georgia had to many holes to fill and Florida did not”???? This is why the media should not vote and I’m glad they do not count in the BCS. First off, did he not see the last couple of games on Flordia from last year??? The defense was horrible. They have lost two starters in their. secondary and one of thier best recievers I have a good friend that works in the Gator Atheletic Department that says Harvin is worse off than what the Gators are saying and also the running game is not coming together as was expected. Georgia has more starters coming back, and in the key positions. Yes UGA lost a key offensive linemen, but that’s not a reason to put Florida ahead of Georgia. The media loves Teabow and that’s why the media will pick them ahead of Georgia in the Associated Press Poll. Nevermind the Gator team was 5-4 in his last nine games and did not get better, where Georgia was 8-1 and was probably one of the best three teams in the nation at the end! Florida fans have yet to say why they are better than Georgia? We need facts!

The mighty DAWGS will go undefeated. It goes a little something like this: GA southern- c’mon 48-13 central michigan-closer, but still blow out 47-21. south carolina- payback time 35-14. Arizona St- this is a fun one and I’ll be there 38-14 (pac ten? puhleaze, the big boys are coming into town. Alabama- not there yet 35-24. Tennesse-payback numero dos 28-17. Vandy- yawn 40-0. LSU- first real test 14-10. Florida- always biggest game of year and big mo is ours now 41-28 (can’t wait). Kentucky- do they still have that little white guy receiver that played for 9 years? 51-10. Auburn- another close one 24-20. Ga tech- unfair 47-7. Then LSU in sec championship- 31-17. Nationl Championship VS. Who else but the SEC’s annual whipping boy Ohio State- 28-3. Let the reign begin. Go Dawgs!

I love UGA but they won’t go undefeated. I think we’ll lose to one of the teams from the west.
However, FL’s defense will cost them two games. I see TN taking them down as well as UGA.
As for SEC Championship it will be either AU or LSU, tough game but if we get through that I see us playing a team from the BIG 12 this year.

Chip- Thanks for the update on AD Evans. how about an article in depth? The alumni love the job he is doing and I”m glad he was handpicked by Vince. His credentials are impeccable and so is his fire. No better Dawg was ever born that can aspire to AD at our UGA. His pride is evident and you better bet he doesn’t wet himself when he deals with high profile coaches.
We understand that the indoor facility is underway and past the planning stages. For those professing ignorance as to the facility’s value, you should read more columns in area newspapers wherever you are and you would see that Richt needs it for inclement weather similar to what was experienced this week(above 100 temp and rainy with lightning) to give continuity to practices. It also helps with sneaky practices by closing the door on a spy or two. Richt and other coaches have been patient waiting for this facility for several years, but money has to be distributed to other sports as well. A lot of us have been patient.
The suggestion that bloggers’ signatures be traced back to e-mail addresses is a good one. Can’t a computer whiz peck out an automatic check on each blogger and use the program each time you write a column? Why did we register until a password or signature came back as unique to ajc’s bloggers if it wasn’t to ID us as the legitimate one with responsibility for our blogs? What was the registration for if not to hold bloggers responsible? I fear that many people with good opinions don’t reply to your articles because these muggers take over and trash any legitimate comments. Could an ajc hater do this to denegrate bloggers and your paper such that your columns and writers aren’t popular enough to warrant the time and you lose readers and money?
Let me refer some of you Jenna haters to the article written in ESPN about Coach Johnson at Vandy as being the “roadie”. I thought I was the only person that respected Vandy’s team and coach. Every school in the SEC defended him in no uncertain terms and set the author straight about the team and coach’s ability and the respect in which they are held in the SEC. Wow! and you(bloggers) are afraid of Jenna’s objectivity because she is a gator? Read the article and you will get a different idea about competitiveness in the SEC. It is all laid aside when fans defend a coach as one of their own in the SEC. If response to that article doesn’t extend his contract for several years then I’m not a Dawg. I was proud of all SEC fans for their knowledge and vigorous factual defense of the coach and team. They told the author what would happen in any other conference if Johnson coached elsewhere. You find out that not only UGA fans , but fans from Tenn,Fl,Ark, Ga,SoCar and even all the teams from west SEC states hold their breath when they play Vandy nowadays. They are as competitive as anyone, but don’t have the high profile players. I found out that they play everyone else meaner than snakes and twice as tough. I thought they only played UGA that way. The point is that there is a time and place for critical comment on misplaced loyalties, but going after Jenna for reporting our practices aint one of them.
The idea of a guest blogger story is great!. I’ve read some pretty good AND KNOWLEDGEABLE blogs here and would like to see some of those people sink their fangs into a story….and Chip, you could lay back and laugh your butt off when they get blogged!
Reading the blogs to this low key article is hilarious when ignorant idiots change the subject on a dime and don’t show signs that they ever read the article!
