UGA blog finds new home

Morning all. As I’ve said a couple of times this week, we’re converting this blog over to a WordPress platform and it will be a permanent move the first of next week.

Those of you who are regulars probably know that I’m not what you’d call techno-wizard when it comes to these things. But from what I understand the technology offered in this new format should make the blogging and commenting experience better for all. Of course, I’ll be learning as we go along, too. But I’m hoping to provide more pictures and video and things like that which should bring the blog more to life.

Of course, this blog is nothing without all you guys so I want to heartily invite (read: beg) you to come over to the new site by CLICKING HERE ON THE NEW ADDRESS and save it in your browsers. As of Monday, Feb. 23rd, this will be the permanent home of the UGA blog you so love or, in the case of some of you, love to loathe. If you’d prefer to copy and paste or just memorize, the new address is: http://blogs.ajc.com/uga-sports-blog/.

See at the new place!

Dogs strap on the pads, prepare to hit

Preseason practices are about to get a lot more interesting. Today will be the No. 1-ranked Georgia Bulldogs’ first day in full pads. They’re actually not allowed to tackle until the sixth practice (today is No. 5) but CMR says they’ll utilize the day to “get used to carry their pads,” which can take some getting used to sometimes.

Tomorrow will be the first day of two-a-days and full-fledged, full contact. That will be followed by the first scrimmage on Monday (actually two, a special teams scrimmage in the morning and a full-team scrimmage in the afternoon). Essentially it will be from Saturday until the next Saturday (Aug. 16, which is Fans Picture Day) that it will be determined who’s going to play and not play in the opener against Georgia Southern. After that the Dogs will start getting down and dirty with their game plan.

So this is when it starts getting fun folks. Be sure to pay attention and visit us often because I’ll be continually bringing you football news in this space.

On that note, we’ve decided to make this blog more of a one-stop shopping experience for our loyal readers. So like I do every morning I’ll be checking out all the different sites that cover Georgia. Only now I’ll be sharing links here to the ones I think might be of interest to you, may have something we don’t or maybe had something that I feel may be worthy of discussion here. The hope is that you’ll visit us regularly throughout the season knowing that most of what’s pertinent about all things Georgia can be found right here.

So …

My buddy Scott Michaux of the Augusta Chronicle wrote a great column about PGA Tour player Bubba Watson returning to Georgia to finish his degree. It’s another story in the continuing efforts of UGA to get all its athletes, past and present, to graduate whether they count toward the schools graduation rate or not, which Watson won’t… .

I’ve gotten to know Frank Ros, captain of the 1980 national championship team, pretty well over the years as I’ve continually had to call on him for perspective pieces. Anyway, it was nice to be able to reminisce with him on the sidelines yesterday as he watched his son Bryce Ros practice from a considerable distance away. Frank explained that he didn’t even want Bryce to know he was there, understandable considering the rather long shadow he could cast on his son. I’m not planning on writing anything about Bryce, who is playing tight end, anytime soon but here’s a nice piece from Anthony Dasher over at Rivals’ Georgia site (WARNING, this is a pay site so I apologize if you can’t get in).

Proving it’s never too early to rate players — well, actually it IS too early IMHO — our good friend Dean Legge over at Scout’s UGA site has decided to give (pay site warning) letter grades to the incoming freshmen so far. From my perspective I haven’t seen nearly enough of the freshmen four practices in to recite their jersey numbers much less give them a performance grade. But, hey, he was willing to do it so you might as well see what you think.

You think Georgia has been having injury issues? Check out what’s going on at Auburn and Florida. Both have already lost starters for the season to knee injuries. But don’t start counting the Dogs’ good fortunes. It’s early in camp and what comes around usually goes around in SEC football.

Well, that’s all for now. Hope y’all like the new philosophy.

Thanks for the links Chip but you might want to point out that those articles aren’t free. Other sites such as Dawgbone(http://www.dawgbone.net) provide links to many free articles for the Dawgnation to enjoy. Just saying…

Chip - it might just be my opinion, but I read this space for your insights and observations from the front lines in Athens.

I guess it would be nice for you to provide a link or two on other big SEC news, like the Ingram injury. But, I still think the focus of this space should be your opinions and observations on what you see in Athens. And getting real time updates from player discussions and practice. It is always enjoyable to read more of an editorial slant from you on this disc board, as opposed to how you have to report the news in the regular section of the paper.

So I would vote to keep things close to the way they were, with maybe an addtional hyper-link every once in a while … as you see fit.

Anyway, just one man’s opinion. Either way, keep the up great work.

Chip, thanks for the info. I’ll be checking back as often as I can. I’m very interested in Richard Samuel and what role he might play tgis season. I saw him play in high school. He’s going to be a great one for the dawgs.

Why was this not front page material????

Making the grade

Fifty-three Bulldogs earned grade-point averages of 3.0 or better — including 16 with perfect 4.0s — in summer semester, and the football players as a group producing a 3.02 GPA, according to an athletics department news release.

“I’m extremely proud of how our players performed in the classroom,” Richt said. “The fact that every scholarship player in our program was enrolled and we earned better than a 3.0 GPA as a team is a very significant achievement.”

Chip, Nice job! I think this is a great idea as long as we don’t lose your focus on getting the inside inside scoops!

I’m pumped about full pads. Now we’ll see what AGreen is all about. We’ll see how he reacts when R Jones is bearing down on him like a heat-seeking missile. Hopefully, he proves the HYPE right.

Chip, I have to agree with nola dawg. I appreciate the links, but most of us on here already get that type of news somewhere else. I read the blog for your editorial opinion on what’s going on with the Dawgs. I hope you don’t mean to change that part of the blog to revert to a more typical link filled blog like all the other ones found all across the Internet.

Chip,

I appreciate your comprehensive information pledge.

Why would we go anywhere else? Our bashers come here to taunt us and keep us informed about all of our deficiencies then some, and BullDawg gives us the unbent statistical truth about our beloved Bulldogs. No need to go to iTunes with Tom up there linking us to Billboard’s number 1 Bulldog/Bengal song. And if we need a nap we just click over to Terrence Moore’s column.

Tom, clever song there dude. I laughed at that. Well written and a great slideshow to go with. Satirical at best LawDawg. The reason I don’t have a problem with it is that those players did what they did. If you don’t want that song written or the publicity then don’t do the crime. As the saying goes. Don’t do the crime if you can’t handle the rhyme.

Life has three people, Christians, non-Christians and those who say there are Christians, but don’t practice their faith. Either way, I have never been on a blog page before, very humiliating, what people write….I wonder if that is their true character or are they non-Christians or both. No matter what the season brings for any football team, we must all die, pay taxes and answer the final judgement call. Is football really worth it. If you have every played football or any organized sport for that matter, if you took away from the game what was important..listen-up, the key with football is perseverance, humility, sacrifice, discipline and other values. Those values will keep you from gossiping, ranting, worshiping a false idol (football teams & players can be that). Lets just hope every fan (kid or adult), player, coaches and all who are associated with every game grows closer to God’s purpose in life for them. The prayer at the end of a game, that is what it is all about.

God Bless, have a great football season, with plenty of family, friendships & worship.

It’s kind of exciting and nerve racking at the same time to think of our guys hitting our guys. We don’t want any injuries. You hate to hear of the injuries at AU and UF because you want to see these kids stay healthy and you want to beat them when they’re at full strength. Thank goodness nobody’s been seriously hurt at UGA yet and hopefully nobody else will, at UGA or anywhere else.

You are exactly right, but you won’t see that running at the bottom of the ESPN ticker every 15 minutes. This is an incredible result and really a nice counterbalance to the small number of players that got in trouble.

Wouldn’t it be great if the AJC had a headline on the Sportspage of “UGA FOOTBALL PLAYERS PUT THE SCHOLAR IN SCHOLAR ATHLETE: Half the team makes a 3.0 or better!

sadly this is relegated to a footnote despite incredible results.

PRACTICE UPDATE I:

Growing list of walking wounded: Some new names today: DE Rod Battle (hamstring), DE Neland Ball, S Nick Williams, WR Tavarres King (ankle), DT Brandon Wood. That’s in addition to all the guys from yesterday, all of whom remain with the red cross squad. Nothing considered real serious… .

QB Matthew Stafford: CMR has continually been bragging on Stafford in post-practice interviews so I decided to park myself behind the pass skel drill for a while and see what all the fuss was about. Folks, I stood there for the better part of the four periods we’re out there and I don’t think I saw him throw the ball off target. Once I thought he had led A.J. Green too much on a deep flag route and Green caught up and reached up high and hauled it in. Granted, no defenders in this drill but all I saw was tight spirals right on the money to all spots on the field. And Stafford was taking every other snap while the other three QBs (Cox still not throwing) alternated the other snaps. Not trying to hype here, just telling you what I witnessed… .

Knowshon Moreno was in a green non-contact jersey but I think it was just to be safe and not because of an injury… .

Strength coach Dave Van Halanger said he can’t share details any more of weight room performances but did say “we set a lot of records this summer.” I know at least two of them were set by converted OL Kiante Tripp for squat (650 pounds I think?) and 40-yard dash (4.82).

Now your questions …

I-DOG, sfbdawg: We did put a headline on it and had it in today’s print edition and yesterday’s uga page… .

Tim: Richard Samuel definitely is an impressive physical specimen in pads, bigger than all the TBs. Can’t say much outside of that yet… .

Lowcountry Bulldawg: Not the same.

I hope the dogs are ready to hit someone, and just play football. We don’t need Richt keeping up his antics changing jerseys every week, and letting the boys run wild on the field. The team and the fans will come to expect some sort of spectacle at each game. We do not need our own “old ball coach” or any Miami type team running around on the field. Please keep som class and get rid of the crass.

I think the Stafford Greene threat will keep our running game going full steam. I love the input Chip on Matt’s, im my opinion, improvement. Can’t wait to see it on the field.

Fulmer for Jenny Craig, oh cmon. What would October be like withouth the Great Pumpkin on the Vol sidelines.

I think our off week gives us the x factor in our game with the Vols this year. Well that and it appears we have a better team. But never overlook or underestimate the Vols and the Punkin.

Chip, appreciate the attempt at parity, but when I want to know something about the team, I come here for your perspective. You deserve the props you get.

So wadda ya think about the boys this season? Does being so highly touted scare any freakin one but me?? If our guys let this #1 go to their heads, this season could go in the tank early. That’s what worries me the most. A loss to UT, UF, or LSU will be acceptable by most fans, but let SC, ASU, or ALA take us and we’ll be toast. Let tech take us and we might as well go into hiding. What’s your thoughts? Shane, Alt, Kali and the other vets, please chime in. I need someone to quell my pessimism.

Purdue, Indiana, Kansas, Climpson Farmers, Michigan, Boston College, Kentucky, Penn State, Michigan State, Army, Navy and Michigan again.

I don’t know but for a team that has ONLY HAD 5 STARS JOIN THE SQUAD SINCE 2004, FOUR YEARS AGO NOW this is pretty heady stuff being Ranked the Number 2 team in the nation to end last season and Number 1 team in the nation this season.

Mohammed Massaquoi, Jeff Owens, Brannan Southerland, Charles Johnson and Thomas Brown are the ONLY 5 FIVE STARS UGA HAS RECRUITED with MORE BUSTS THAN STARS in the 2004 and 2005 RECRUITING CLASSES yet the USA Today Coaches’ Poll, AJ-C, Dallas Star-Telegram, ESPN Power Rankings, ESPN Mark Schlabach, Lindys’, NBC, the Sporting News, Stewart Mandel SI, The Big Lead, Sports Illustrated, Average Preseason Poll Rankings of 21 College Football Polls on LSUfootball.net, TC Bailey, EA Sports, and Gimino AP Poll voter – all – every single one of these 15 Preseason Polls so far have picked UGA to be Number 1 in the nation as of 8/8/8.

How is it possible that with only 5 stars and more busts than stars recruited 4 years ago and 3 years ago, that UGA is Number 1 in the nation in fifteen different preseason polls and end last season Number 2 ? This cannot be so, can it ? What is wrong with this picture, you have to ask yourself.

Also Chipper Towers in yesterday’s blog, you criticized a poster to this blog who merely pointed out that there a LOT better places for UGA fans to get their UGA news than your biased, uninformed HARSH OPINIONS of who indeed is even a STAR on this Number 1 team in the nation this season and Number 2 team in the nation LAST SEASON when it was all said and done.

Hey Palmetto Dawg…OK, so UGA has a bye week before the UT game???? Now I am really scared…NOT. Let me point out the reason the Dogs will be “salivating” is because they constantly lick themselves. I cannot wait until the Vols wax UGA’s azz for the 3rd straight year. Then all you whiners will be saying…”Just wait til next year Phat Phil..we are going to kick your butt”!! You know deep in your heart that UGA is way over-rated. Being #1 is almost the kiss of death in college football. Everyone is gunning for you. The best I see for the UGA Leghumpers is about 8-4. Enjoy your time in Nashville at the Music City Bowl boys!! LMAO!!

Breaking News…this just in. UGA Bulldogs will change their fight song for 2008 to “Jailhouse Rock” in honor of all the players currently incarcerated at the Clarke County Jail. In addition to the new fight song, CMR will do the “Soulja Boy” dance prior to each homegame as a lame attempt to inspire the remaining players. I guess you could say UGA football is “going to the DOGS”!!

Phat Phil, your comments lead me to believe the Jenny Craig diet may be depriving you of your normal daily intake of sugar and starches. I respect the UT program and most UT fans, but you make no sense. Cutcliffe is gone. I admit it - he owned us, but he’s gone. Your QB - who owned us - is gone. Your recruiting has suffered. We have the week off before playing you, and the game is in Athens. We have 17 starters returning. All thing considered, I like our chances. Now, regarding the discipline problems at UGA. I truly felt the LAST fans to poke fun about it would be the UT fans. Kind of like the pot calling the kettle black. Oh well, people in glass trailers….

Hey Maddog 20-20…my Jenny Craig diet is working just fine. I eat the boxes it comes in and throw away the food. Personally, while I liked Cutcliffe, I am glad he is gone. No more “dink and dunk” crap..the new OC brings a lot of fresh stuff to the table. Also glad Ainge is gone…he only was sacked 3 times last season..wooohooo..thats because he would throw the ball away after 3 seconds. Crompton brings a whole new dimension to the offense. He has a cannon arm and will actually RUN the ball if needed. And my final reason the Vols wiil kick UGA’s butt once again this year…UGA is WAY OVER-RATED as usual. I predict and 8-4 season for the Puppies and I am being generous…just remember, “Everybody in the whole cell block was dancing to the Bulldog Rock”….LMAO!!

Has Brandon Wood practiced this year so far? It seems like he was hurt for the Spring game. I just was curious if this was a new injury or something more serious?

Is AJ Harmon playing on the offensive or defensive line. I know the staff said he had to come in at a certain weight to play defense.

SATURDAY MORNING PRACTICE UPDATE:

Not much new to report. Same players on the injured list. Tavarres King hobbled pretty good with that ankle injury and methinks that’s probably getting him a little behind… .

Enjoyed watching some of practice this morning with former Dog Buck Belue, who remarked how much Tanner Strickland looks like former Georgia standout Hugh Nall. Other players that impressed Belue were OT Kiante Tripp and WRs A.J. Green and Israel Troupe.

Zeb, that number one ranking is nothing to be afeared of. Actually it is a help. When we lose the inevitible game we do not have as far to fall, and if it is a one loss and everyone else is a one loss, then it is the luck of the cards on where we wind up. Right now I think we are holding pocket pair Aces, Knowshon and Stafford.

Mobiledawg, sorry about the neglect on the end of my commentary yesterday. I spent five hours in the emergency room getting fluids and anti-biotics and when I came home I was confined to bed. I notice in your practice reports that you aren’t giving very many details. Is this because they (Coaches) are limiting your time in actually watching the practices? Also Chris above asked about Brandon Wood and how he is doing? A little more details would be nice especially about OL and DL’s. I find it interesting that my friend on the staff has told me that this group is very, very close and that bodes well for us this season.

I wonder sometimes Phil, does our band playing Junkyard Dawgs over and over annoy Vol fans as much as Dawg fans hearing Rocky Top played again and again. Hopefully he can beat the Gators this year early, and keep that one in his pocket till after his long trip home from Athens.

For the longest time - and it started in 1968 when my wife and I, along with a fellow AF guy and his wife attended the GA/TN game in Knoxville - Doug’s Rug Debut. Got to tell you it was the most fun I’ve ever had at a game that we didn’t win. Yeah, we were probably robbed with the tie, but the UT fans, in the middle of which we were sitting, were a hellovalot of fun - of course they were real happy with the outcome, but still it was ‘fun’.

Fast forward to the 1980 game (I had been to a couple of other Knoxville games in between - Bill Battle’s fake punt…Andy Johnson’s magic fumble) Herschel’s Coming Out Party - My God a Freshman - of course I didn’t hear the call until the next day since I was in the stands, but it was glorious. But even then, it was civil. My Tennessee friends and I maintained a friendly rivalry.

Now it seems like everybody wants to treat this like politics - you’re either with us or against us. Jesus, lighten up. It’s just a game. Now Florida, or Georgia Tech, that’s a different story.

Chip,

Great pre-season coverage.

As of the time I am writing this, there are no headlines on the UGA sports edition of the AJC on-line referencing any academic success. Here is what there is in addittion to the three larger headline stories above it:

Moreno’s shoulder ‘nagging him’
College Football News from the SEC, ACC and BCS
Which freshmen Bulldogs have best chance to play?
Moore the latest UGA receiver to be injured
UGA practice report: WR Green returns
NCAA against college fantasy football, beer ads
Position change no problem for UGA’s Boyd

Someone coming to the UGA page today, would have no idea that half the players got a 3.0 or that a huge number got 4.0’s

I don’t get the print edition of the AJC and if there was a big headline about academic success for UGA football, I think that is wonderful. However, it would not be easy for a casual reader to find this info on this incredible positive story on the UGA page on-line.

There are still two headlines about UGA suspensions under more UGA news…even though that news is much older than the story about academics, but nothing you can click on that would knowingly bring you to the positive story about academics.

Expectations are high once again in muttville. UGA fans tend to act a little redneck and ignorant from time to time but let’s be realistic. Stafford and No show the next Lienart and Bush? Please. Then the article about Stafford possibly going to the NFL after this season. Good one. Stafford is a good QB but he’s no Joe Hamilton. He’s not even played as good as a George Godsey yet. Check the numbers. Will he? Maybe. Has he? Not yet. My prediction is UGA will not be national champs and might not even win the SEC. Will they beat Tech? Probably so. Mark Richt is a good coach but he used up all of his tricks last year. No more black out and no more stompimg on the goal line. Every team is going to be coming after them extra hard this year. So get ready for a dissapointing football season and be prepared to be let down. I can’t wait to hear all the excuses from all the rednecks. It’s going to be hilarious. I just wanted to spend a little time over on this board since the UGA guys can’t seem to stay away from ours.

Div II… don’t bring God into this. God does not care who wins or who gets hurt or anything else in regard to sports. I went and played at an all boys Catholic HS. We had 1,500 boys. Our coaches, many were ordained religious. All they wanted was for us to beat the crap out of the team we played by the most point we could score. So the next time we played them we could score even more point against them. The only thing in sports is to be king of the hill. Sportsmanship is for checkers.

SATURDAY PRACTICE UPDATE

Looks like Georgia may have been hit with its first major injuries of the preseason this morning. No.. 2 strong safety **Quintin Banks was on crutches because of a left knee injury that appears serious. No details yet — we’ll get Richt after practice — but it doesn’t look good… . Also, freshman defensive back Makiri Pugh was on crutches with his left ankle heavily wrapped during Saturday’s afternoon workout… .

From you guys:

Buford: Georgia opened with Oklahoma State and South Carolina last year, Western Carolina and South Carolina in 2006, Boise State and South Carolina in 2005, Georgia Southern and South Carolina in 2004, Clemson and Middle Tennessee in 2003, Clemson and South Carolina in 2002 and Arkansas State and South Carolina in 2001. And they open at Oklahoma State and South Carolina next year., So while they’ve had one weak opponent in the first two games in a few of those years, they don’t by design schedule weak opponents the first two weeks so that suspensions won’t be impactful… .

BigGAdawg: DeAngelo Tyson seems to be like most of the other freshmen from what I can tell. Working hard and trying hard to stay up through all the drills and scrimmages. Not standing out so far as far as I can tell.

The old cliche about injurys being part of the game is true. That’s why it has become a cliche. Elite fotball players force their bodies to perform feats that the human body was never designed to do. Players get bigger and faster every year, increasing Their momentum and the strain on various joints of Their bodies and the force of Their collisions. Every team has injurys, that is why depth is so important. The Dawgs will deal with the injurys, just as They always have.

I have to agree with AJC=JOKE. Seems like the AJC is going overboard with these constant injury reports. Banks is a big deal, but he’ll be back (Georgia didn’t “lose” him AJC). Everything else is hardly even worth a report. There will be even more strains, sprains, and soreness to come. You can bet on it. Its football. I personally hope we have a very physical pre-season with plenty of hitting. We aren’t going to get through that schedule playing like sissies that are scared to get hurt. I know football season is nigh, the Gen has laced up his gloves and begun sparring! All across this great nation the air is filled with the sounds of pads popping and the shouts and curses of coaches. What a Country! I survive August in South Ga wth liberal applications of DEET, cases of beer on ice, and frequent dips in the pool. All the while I dream of crisp fall days in Athens. A man has to have hope!

You, sir, are a great American. Besides your honorable service to our country which spanned what, 3 or 4 presidents, you are getting your game face on. Stay in this game. I’ll be reading but not injecting much on matters Dawgs. I haven’t made my picks for the SEC East or West as of yet. Still watching the lead up to battle and seeing who survives basic with the least amount of damage. We lost a DT. Can’t afford it, but injuries are a part of this game. I will say, I fear for Moreno’s health in 2008. Unless CK or another can spell him, toooo much will be on his shoulders and that won’t bode well with UGA’s schedule…Keep on keeping on…

I’m not angry; you are just FOS trying to make out that CRAPPY VOLS FOOTBALL PROGRAM since the DAY Coach Richt took this gig, to be better than what Coach Richt has done by direct comparison.

General, you have come in here and bragged how great Phfat Fil is and the vols with him as their SNITCH, er I mean coach. This despite the fact that Coach Richt now has been ranked AHEAD of Phillip Fulmer Seven (7) now Consecutive Seasons and Counting.

And, while we are on the topic that no one can come in here and dare to point out to you and your Loser Buddies LOST in the UGA Blog about how great the vols are and have been now 7 consecutive seasons and counting - or, you rip all of them a new hole in their butt too as you just did another, may I please ADD that everyone in the blog has ALSO ripped a new hole in the AJ-C’s butt for their constant sensationalism about what finds today but 2 players on our team who were underage drinking, while Georgia Tech for example has a current player on their roster only suspended for **RAPE.

And, try to tell us all our players are injured when what separates from everyone else, is our Depth.

If the vols were any good any season the now 7th Consecutive Season, the vols would be ranked ahead of UGA 1 time.

Just once.

But, they have NOT been.

There are Nine (9) Offensive Linemen at UGA today who will go on to The NFL. It is so good that there are 2-Deep Players who would be Starting at any other program; and that includes especially at Ohio State where they are slow-footed.

I’m tired of the Bleacher Report continuing to be a Homer for the down Big Ten (11.)

Is it unfair to the Big Ten (11) and unfair to Ohio State that 15 different Preseason Polls have selected UGA Number 1 ? I hardly think so. Anyone who saw the SEC Championship Game knows that if The SEC didn’t disregard the rankings and the vols’ horrendous loss to California, that that day, UGA would have beat LSU.

Georgia played 4 Final AP Poll Top 25 teams, and Won 3.

Ohio State played only Wisconsin in the Final AP Poll Top 25, and Wisconsin beat No Final AP Poll Team including their bowl game. Look the Big Ten (11) is a joke.

The object of the game, is not to play SoS Number 73 like Ohio State did last season and claim you are better but refuse to play a Conference Championship because you are afraid you will Lose like you have Every Single Ohio State Bowl Game to The SEC at 0 Wins and 9 Consecutive Bowl Losses by Ohio State to The SEC.

Georgia has a fine football team and yes we played the Number 7 SoS in the nation and tops among the BCS Bowl Teams; and, will again this season.

That’s called a great football season to be playing all these great teams when we went 3-1 vs. the Final AP Poll teams last season. The Bleacher Report knows nothing at all about UGA’s Offensive Linemen and our OL Coach, the fact that every single 1 has been redshirted already, and that they are very good, very big and very fast. Get used to their names. You will see them for the next decade in the NFL - all 2-deep.

A Bleacher Report comment off-hand that UGA has a nice defense doesn’t do justice to the team who played NCAA SoS Number 7, ended ranked Number 2 in the Final AP Poll (ranked in the Final AP Poll for the 11th Consecutive Season), and has the NCAA Number 14 Total Defense in the nation.

I would not be putting forth the proposition that Ohio State is better because they play in a WEAK CONFERENCE, play 1 game against a good team that will destroy them, and then show up to the mythical national championship game with zero football players under 4.5 in the 40-yard dash, as they did last season.

So, while you sit there and ponder that UGA plays 14 games this season against 9 former National Champion coaches, and 11 of whom are ranked in the Preseason Polls, recall please that their toughest game - all 11 of these Ranked Opponents UGA plays THIS SEASON - is UGA. See you on the football field.

And, if there is a God; it will be against Ohio State - as it should have been last season - and, you know it Bleacher Report.

And, as for this ESPN radio station’s THE HERD Colin Cowherd ESPN Friday Ruse that it is unfair to Ohio State and unfair the Big Ten (11) to put down the team and the conference they only represent to hold them exactly responsible for what they do in the bowl games when they refuse to get on board with a 4-team playoff (Plus One +1) because they would have to play a Conference Championship Game against a team they heaven forbid might beat them like Southern Cal will like a drum too…

Excuse me.

” “Ohio State has a SEASONED 5th-Year Returning Starting Quarterback.** “

Todd Boeckman only threw 299 passes all season long including their bowl game and threw fourteen (14) Interceptions against the Number 73 Strength of Schedule beating not 1 team who was ranked in the Final AP Poll except for Wisconsin who beat no Final AP Poll teams at all including Wisconsin’s bowl game.

Todd Boeckman averaged 1 yard per carry on 56 rushes, weighing in at an out-of-shape 244 lbs.

Terrelle Pryor at 235 lbs. a true freshman only recently paid for by Ohio State after national signing day, is your quarterback. He’s neither seasoned, nor returning, nor is Terrelle even a 2nd year redshirt veteran.

In total offense, Todd Boeckman was Number Eighty (80) in the nation despite playing all of every game against the Number 73 Strength of Schedule beating no ranked team in the Final AP Poll except Wisconsin who beat no ranked team all season including Wisconsin’s bowl game.

And, Colin Cowherd, by the way, Ohio State with their seasoned 5th-Year Returning Starter Veteran Quarterback was Number 76 in the nation in Turnover Margin despite their Number 73 SoS because Todd Boeckman also cannot hold on to the damn football.

Poor Ohio State, so mistreated and the WORTHLESS BIG TEN (11) because Ohio State never has and never will beat an SEC team in any bowl game anytime anywhere.

Colin Cowherd also was the guy who said that the Pac-10 was the best college football conference in the nation last season with The SEC 5 of the Top 15 in the Final AP Poll and the Pac-10 one.

Gen, thank You for Your kind words, but I am far from a great American. I am proud that this Country allowed Me to serve and thankful that a Kid with very little was given a chance to achieve success. Like I said, what a Country! I look forward to doing battle with You Vols and the other great SEC teams. A native American adage says that the geatness of a tribe can be measured by the greatness of it’s enemies. If this be true then We SEC fans are truly blessed. Where else can a team play the likes of the Dawgs, Vols, Gators, LSU, Bama, and Auburn week end a week out? You can’t go to sleep against the little guys either. Crooms and that Missy State D are capable of putting the hurt on any team, Petrino will make some noise at Arky and Spurrier upsets one or two teams every year. Even Vandy can rise up and bite You. We Dawgs and Vols know all about THAT, don’t We? What a Conference!

Just for the record, the post above was full of lies. During the Vietnam War, I lived in Toronto, Canada on Yonge Street, and currently blog on my site Queerghetto.com, as I came out of the closet, and Rainbowed in 1982. Health issues prohibit me to venture to games, as I am a well known gay activist. Power to the People.

Fake Shane, I am not here to do battle with You, whoever You are. I am not going to defend My service, certainly not to You. I will say this. Your last post was one of the most mean spirited I have ever read. In the past I thought you posing and Your gay references were a lame attempt at humor, now I know They are not. They are an underhanded, cowardly attempt to hurt those of Us that merely enjoy the sport of football. You are correct in one way, I am no hero and I never claimed to be. The real Heros come home in body bags, if They come home at all. Some returning Vets have talked about being spat upon in airports, some have said They were called “baby killer” and worse. None of that ever happened to me. I was treated with respect, or at least indeffernce, but never directly insulted, at least untill now. You set out to hurt Me and insult Me, well congratulations Sir, You have succeded.

Whoa, whoa. So there are 3 shane #1s now? Okay, so shane #1 that was a little harsh, even for me. I apologize shane #1 for shane #1’s comments. It was not me, shane #1, who said those hurtful things. Shane #1 you should be ashamed.

Okay guys, if you haven’t guessed already, im Herschel Walker

To denigrate one is to denigrate all. Next time you’re in Washington D.C., stop by the Vietnam Memorial and tell it to the 58,195 there…or if you’d rather, Jesse Ventura will give you the opportunity to speak your mind.

Coach Richt now has been ranked AHEAD of Phillip Fulmer Seven (7) now Consecutive Seasons and Counting - and this includes both with David Cutcliffe and without him.
