UGA blog finds new home

Morning all. As I’ve said a couple of times this week, we’re converting this blog over to a WordPress platform and it will be a permanent move the first of next week.

Those of you who are regulars probably know that I’m not what you’d call techno-wizard when it comes to these things. But from what I understand the technology offered in this new format should make the blogging and commenting experience better for all. Of course, I’ll be learning as we go along, too. But I’m hoping to provide more pictures and video and things like that which should bring the blog more to life.

Of course, this blog is nothing without all you guys so I want to heartily invite (read: beg) you to come over to the new site by CLICKING HERE ON THE NEW ADDRESS and save it in your browsers. As of Monday, Feb. 23rd, this will be the permanent home of the UGA blog you so love or, in the case of some of you, love to loathe. If you’d prefer to copy and paste or just memorize, the new address is: http://blogs.ajc.com/uga-sports-blog/.

See at the new place!

King not guaranteed No. 2 tailback

As it turns out, one of the better competitions of preseason camp might be at backup tailback.

Coach Mark Richt was asked after practice Tuesday what the competition was looking like at No. 3 tailback. He responded with, “There’s still competition at No. 2.”

It’s generally been assumed that the No. 2 spot would be held down by heralded redshirt freshman Caleb King and that’s how the depth chart was set coming into camp. But Georgia has continued to recruit at the position and two of its signees from last year, Richard Samuel and Dontavius Jackson, were early enrollees and went through spring practice. Carlton Thomas of Frostproof, Fla., joined the group this summer. And you can’t forget about walkon sophomore Kalvin Daniels, who has often drawn the praise of coaches.

Samuel, in particular, continues to generate positive commentary from coaches and apparently is a very cerebral player. Richt was talking about how all of them look very impressive carrying the football. The key, he said, was going to come down to how they perform “when Coach Ball walks away and goes to the sideline.” In other words, when the players have to think for themselves and carry out their assignments not only correctly but handle them excellently. That, of course, goes deeper than carrying the football.

Again, the general thinking is that Georgia will operate with three scholarship tailbacks and the other two will redshirt. Not necessarily, Richt said.

“We’re not saying it’s etched in stone that two are going to redshirt,” he said. “Special teams are very important. Our feeling is if a player can maybe start on three special teams, that’s worth playing.”

Meanwhile, I talked to Caleb on Monday for a story I’m doing later and was asking him about goals for this season. I asked him if he was hoping for 10 carries a game this season. He grinned widely and said “at least that many.”

Clearly, he’ll have to prove he’s worthy of that many.

REMEMBER, LIVE UPDATES FROM PRACTICE COMING THIS AFTERNOON IN COMMENTS SECTION BELOW!

It’s scary how good we can be at tailback, thanks for the fix Chip.

Judging by the spring game King looks alot further along than the other newbies, but what the hell do I know. I’m no coach. Richt is likely just playing mind games with these guys. He does this every year with the tailbacks. Hard to argue with the results.

What a great problem to have, as far as I’m concerned… I could see only one of them getting redshirted. I think Carlton Thomas could be a bigtime threat in kick-return situations, which could be a major asset this season with question marks in that area. Richard Samuel is a freak of nature physically, and I have heard from people that played against Dontavious Jackson that he was pretty amazing in highschool, very elusive for a bigger back. Not bad considering we already have the #1 back in the nation! Go Dawgs!!!

The “G” stands for Georgia, you big dummy!

I’m not surprised Richard Samuel is in the hunt as I got to see him play some at Cass High. He was phenomenal. He is awfully young (17), so I thought he would redshirt. However, if he earns the spot he should play. Regardless of the outcome, this is a nice “problem” to have.

The tailback position is set for years with Samuel and Jackson waiting and don’t forget about Ealy coming next fall. But my main concern was receivers what happen to Green why wasn’t he on the spring depth chart?

We need them all…..We will have nicks and bruises all year and hopefully nothing worse. Ankle injuries scare me, especially Knowshon with his running style. Doesn’t look like we’ll miss a beat Go Dawgs.

I tend to agree with SI that the Dawgs this year have no chinks in their armor. The running game should be the best in the league by far, and now that Stafford is a 3-year veteran with at least 2 long threat weapons to go to (MM & AJG) we are a threat to score every time we touch the ball. The defense has the talent to stop most teams, and really slow down the rest. The only question mark to me is injuries and for that reason, the more backs competing for that 2nd spot the better off we are. Bring on the season, I can’t wait. Go Dawgs!

Ealy won’t qualify academically. Word on the street is that Leonard Pope edged him out in an underground Spelling Bee match. Perhaps, he’ll arrive in 2010…after a year at Prep School. However, considering our depth, this is no big deal. Not just tailback…Every position is set for years!

Ever since his JR HS season I’ve wanted to see Caleb King run the ball for UGA however two stories relayed by Chip this week have me concerned. First we hear of him mouthing off to cops during the incident that happened this past weekend. Then to me in this blog he comes across as entitled to playing time & expects to get it no matter how the other backs look in camp. So my concern is about his attitude. This team doesn’t need a prima donna on it or need someone screwing up off the filed because they thing the rulers don’t apply to them. Hopefully I’m just reading too much into this but I have faith in the coaching staff to keep things like this in check. Maybe that’s part of the reason the # 2 spot is still up in the air. Much like making Stafford earn the starting QB job instead of just handing him the keys the minute he reached campus. Chip if you can, please comment on King’s attitude & work ethic. Thanks.

Moreno is a great back, but King will take it to the house even more. I think Samuel will get some work as he will be the better blocker of those three and thomas is going to show that change of pace. Go Dogs!

August 6, 2008 12:43 PM | Link to this

Hey Chip, you’re cranking out some real good product the last couple of days… We love it, thanks man.

Another big thing these backs will provide is some awesome speed on special teams. I know that at least a few of these guys were not only star backs but pretty beastly on defense, so hopefully our returns and also kick coverage will be improved.

I haven’t jumped on the “we’re gonna be National Champs” bandwagon, I can only hope. But being one of the elder fans on the site, I can tell you that I have never seen a Dawg lineup like this and next year. There just aren’t any holes and in fact there is great depth to keep guys fresh all day.

Even if Stafford and/or Moreno do well enough to propel themselves into the NFL draft, look who we have stepping up. I hope we run up some scores and get to see a little bit of Cox and a whole lot of Gray.

We have reason to be very excited for this season and if there was ever a team assembled that has a chance to make it unscathed through this hellacious gauntlet of a schedule, this is it.

I just hope and pray that we won’t suffer too many key injuries. You have to know that some are coming, but maybe we can make through the practices and into the schedule before they start happening.

Not to sound incredibly rude, but if Mr.Daniels see a large amount of time, outside of mop-up duty, we are in for a long season. UGA has had success in the past with walk-ons, but this season is much different than any before. It is important that King live up to the hype that preceded him.

It sounds like CMR is making sure Caleb knows nothing is for certain. That will keep the competition up. I bet DJ gets the redshirt and not Samuel. Our backfield looks great however I can see how Thomas Brown will be missed this season. I wouldn’t be surprised if we see the QB draw more often.

Athletes are taught and trained to win and to be #1.

Last week an article came out listing UF as the #1 party school in America and had UGA listed as #7.

These UGA football players were simplying following their training and trying to make UGA #1.

I am thinking that Caleb King is getting into a bit of Bar Hopping in Athens and the coaches are NOT liking what they are hearing. Caleb should know better, but I guess so many people would say he is just 19 and doesn’t know better. Keep thinking that and you will end up playing Left Out, Caleb.

To cut through the sensationalism regarding the headline I believe that based on Coach Richt’s statements given that no back other than Knowshon has seen any (significant) playing time they’ll run them through the ringer and let the talent rise to the top. He has not deviated from his philosophy that “you compete every day” and that appears to be the case here. I would suspect that Caleb will be the #2 but what does it matter what I think. I place my trust in the Coaching staff that they will have who can best help this team NOW. Also a reference to what Coach Richt has recently said about Knowshon and his Freshman year and that if he had to do it over he probably would not have redshirted him. This plants the seed that Samuels must really have gotten their attention.

The Dawgs backfield will be scary good—-no team in the SEC is even close. I look for a lot of easy wins, with some big points. NO SEC D can stop Stafford, Moreno and King! The only game I’m worried about is at lsu, but UGA has a lot more talent with these 3 studs, and should be able to beat them by 10. UF, UT, Auburn—-fuggetaboutit! I see 3 blowouts, like last year!! RAWDAWG: Thanks for the kinds words, bud. Love ya and miss ya… .

I agree with those of you that think it’s mainly a Richt reminder that competition remains ongoing and the depth chart is determined by how you do every day in practice and not what’s expected. It’s likely a subtle message to King to keep the pedal to the medal and soak in the playbook and meetings as much as everything else… .

Also, Samuel, Jackson and Thomas all have attributes for getting lots of special teams work… .

But until they start hitting full out it’s all hard to tell. “Shells” today (helmets and shoulder pads) followed by full contact on Day Six!

Makes me feel good until I look at our schedule. We are playing 6 teams in ESPN’s top 25. Florida(4), LSU(9), Auburn(10), Arizona State(15), Tennessee(19), and Alabama(23). Does anyone even come close to matching this schedule? No one in the SEC comes close except Bama with 5. The top 25 SEC play 3 or 4 Insane. It is silly we even have discussions about conferences. The two best teams Clemson plays are out of conference with South Carolina and Bama. USC plays Ohio State (who cares anymore) Oregon (done) and Arizona State (we will see). That is it. Ohio State has to beat Wisconson again. I could go on all day with the rest of the non SEC top 25. Oklahoma doesn’t even play Missouri. So the year Georgia gets a quality team across the board with a shot we get the hardest schedule I have ever seen. Man it must be nice to be USC and Ohio State knowing the Rose Bowl is an every year event…

Haven’t seen his name recently, but thanks to Chip and some bloggers for finally mentioning Kalvin Daniels. It may be just as important to have the solid runner this year as to have the flashy ones. It’s all about fresh legs late in the game, and Kalvin could be the sleeper of the bunch - and every bit as important. Watched the replay of the AL game last night, and the Tide drove 90 yards on us at the end to tie it up. Announcers kept talking about fresh legs. Kalvin should get some carries in the first 2 games so he’ll be ready down the road.

What a great feeling to finally be coming into a season with a CLEAR #1 tailback. Seems like during the entire CMR era we’ve started training camp (and the season) without one. Ware, Brown, and Lumpkin have been competing for the #1 spot for the last 5 years. The competition at #2 should be fun to watch this year.

If anyone has any insight regarding our untested new right tackle, Kiante Tripp, I would appreciate it. It kinda concerns me having a 1st year starting right tackle whose seems a little light (270 lbs). I can’t believe that 270 is light these days!!!

I love it that the poodles are ranked preseason #1. The schedule is way to hard for them to stay that way. SI’s article wasn’t right. They do have some kinks on their team. Stafford is still an average QB. Until he has a game that he throws for over 300 yards then we will talk. Their WR’S are average. if your going to rely on freshmen Wr’s then you are in big trouble. Your FB is hurt so kiss that postion good bye. They will lose 2-3 games this year. The scheudle is way to tough.

The General Feeling:

You are giving no credit to the staff for Moreno… he is generally considered one of the top 3 running backs in college football heading into his Sophmore campaign, many pundits think he is the best.

In terms of actual production he is the fourth leading Freshman rusher in SEC history, two of the three guys slightly ahead of him were named Emmet Smith and H. Walker.

How much more productive can a running back be?

Wah-Wah,

It’s not just about pre-season rankings; it’s about the reality that the cyclicality of the SEC schedule is sticking Georgia worse this year than pretty much any other team gets ever. Of course, it will cycle around again. But, the combo of LSU-Alabama-Auburn is more than rare for an SEC East team in the same year, combined with the East Schedule, which is already tough enough, but expected.

Additionally, Georgia finally goes out West to play a solid team (in 100 degree heat) in the same season as the schedule described above lands on them.

It’s not complaining. It’s reality. It’s not crying, it’s excitement.

Almost no way in the world Georgia goes undefeated this year. Anything less than 2 losses would be amazing, considering the week-in week-out punishment that will be loaded into this year’s schedule.

The closest thing to a “break” in that SEC schedule is Vandy (who beat Georgia in Athens 2 years ago, back when Georgia was still trying to figure out who its QB was), and at Kentucky; but road games are usually not cake walks in the SEC, and KY also won up there 2 years ago; but, that offense is completely gone.

Concerning “to be the best you have to beat the best”. Fine. But how does that even apply in college football?

We’re not talking about simply beating the best team. We’re talking about the fact that the best team Georgia has had in years will end up facing one of the toughest schedules ever constructed in the history of college football.

Most teams (namely the PAC-10 and Big-10 teams) get a breather in the conference schedule.

But for Georgia, not this year.

There is a huge difference between playing Arkansas and Ole Miss, versus playing Alabama and LSU.

Chip,

Does Carlton Thomas remind you more of a Warrick Dunn, undersized but true RB or a Tyson Browning scat back? I have a feeling that he could be a freshman that comes out of nowhere to give us some speed on the edge.

Also, Richard Samuel might be Rennie Curran’s clone as a LB. The high school videos of him on defense are ridiculous. Has there been any indication that he might be switched to Coach Jancek’s group since we have King, Daniels, Thomas and a still recovering from serious injury and a year off football but a stud none the less in Dontavious Jackson sitting back there? Not to mention we will hopefully have Ealey in camp next year. (Heard he was waffling a little bit)

Last question. Which will happen first: AJ Harmon gets switched to the O-Line or Ben Jones takes over starting center duties?

UGA will still have the opportunity to play in the NC w/ 2 losses (if that happens).

Other SEC teams will figure out how to stop the one man show in Florida. All they’ll have to do is review film from the UGA/UF game last year.

UGA might drop one w/ that tough 4 game road stretch, but we’ll still be representing the East in Atlanta and will represent SEC in the NC.

Go to the back of the bandwagon. You’re the one who’s been infatuated with Caleb King the last 2-3 years. Why put so much pressure on a 19-year-old kid? Or is he your ticket to sportswriter stardom. I mean, if the guy doesn’t turn out to be the next Hershel Walker, you will almost be like Terence Moore, guilty of journalistic sensationalism. Florida played LSU, Alabama, and Auburn in 2006. So a schedule like UGA’s has been attempted before. If that Florida team went 13-1, this year’s UGA team can.

I do think UGA’s schedule in 2008 is tougher than UF’s in 2006 because Alabama will be better this year, and ASU is on the schedule. In 2006, UF’s big OOC game was FSU. As a Florida fan I am not ashamed to say this year’s UGA team looks great….

For there scheme he’s great but as a QB the jury is still out. I would agree that given there team last year he was just asked to do what he could to help the team win & now that they have some rb’s will see his passing ability. So we’ll see if he’s just a system QB or has the ability to be an all around QB.

I don’t know if UGA is over rated or not but I sure don’t like being #1 going in, I’d rather be in the top 3 then ascend to the top. I don’t agree with SI, we do have weaknesses: the OL must come together quickly; we must find a reliable kicker & a receiver or 3 needs to step up to become stars. Having said that I do feel good about this season & think we have a good shot at the NC but let’s just take it one meeting, drill, practice the finally game at a time!

Due to the suspension of Don Baldwin, which young DB will get an opportunity to back up Reshad Jones at FS?

Is SS John Knox capable of playing either S position? If so, I’d expect him to be a candidate.

Hopefully neither of the above questions matter because Reshad stays healthy all year!

I think the reason that WSB chose to show the Tennessee game was that they wanted UGAy fans to see what a real football team looked like.

UT Blows BDs; Nice. If you get outside of Atlanta proper you see nothing but knuckle-dragging, mouth-breathing miscreants and you’re calling Tennessee fans inbred? Take a look around you pal. Well, not a lot to tell you yet. The players are busy stretching and running drills and such. In “shells” today, which is helmets and shoulder pads. So there will be a little contact today, especially with the big guys in the trenches… .

You know, its fun to look at the backfield and recieving corps with this team, but what really gives me a woody is the line up we have in the trenches. They were amazing last year doing what they did being so young, but Good Lord, we should be gangbusters this year and plenty of fresh legs.

Like I said, I’m not claiming no championships before we play the games, don’t even want to make predictions with our schedule, but barring a bunch of key injuries, we ought to be able to hang with anyone.

I hate to make the OSU guys mad but I swear that any team from that conference would be considered a patsy game compared with anyone we play from the SEC this year. I seriously believe that Georgia Southern would be more difficult than either of the OSU BCS game teams of the last two years. The Michighan team that Fla played last year might be tough but I’d still rather play them or OSU than LSU, AUBURN, TENN, FLA, BAMA, or even last years ARK team. And BTW thank goodness there weren’t many Ky fans in here talking trash about thugs after what is now going on with their QBs. Even one of Fla’s ex players has pulled an Odell.

Best match-up of the day? ABC @ 8 pm: BAMA vs. Clemson.

Most over-rated match-up of the day? ESPN @ 5 pm: App State vs. LSU (this ain’t the Big Ten).

We have SEC football 4 out of 5 days from Thursday through Monday with NC State vs. USC Thurs on ESPN, UK vs. Louisville Sun on ESPN, & UT vs. UCLA Mon on ESPN.

Every Team has Players who get arrested, every year. You never hear about most of it because the Teams involved have very uneventful seasons and people just plain don’t care. Go thru Georgia’s arrests and see what the charges actually were. Sure, all of it was uncalled for and reguardless of the crime, it should not have happened. But, it does happen with children, and that is what these players are. I think CMR deals with this well. Ask Michael Lemons. He is still making bad choices. There was just no choice. He is still making bad decisions not only for him, but his younger brother. When you recruit these players, you don’t know what they are going to do. No one can predit it. Let’s see what Steve Spurrier does with his wayward quarterback. Has he learned his lesson? I don’t know and neither does Spurrier. I’m in favor of giving his one more shot, even if he beats Ga.. If he he does not make it then, he would be gone. Sometimes, people do get smarter and change. Let’s hope he does.

With all due respect brother but Calvin Daniels really came on last year when given a chance and proved in the spring that he is a very, very good running back. I can tell you this if we didn’t have Knowshon Moreno and Caleb King, we would be talking about Daniels being our starter and I look for him to get some carries this year. IMHO Jackson, Samuel and Thomas if they get PT it will probably be on special teams.

Great stuff Chip. Sorry to hear Tony’s leaving the paper. You both produce excellent material.

Georgia does have some chinks in the armor. Just go back and listen to CMR’s presentation at the SEC media days.

Richard Samuel reminds me of a young Jerome Bettis. I think he’ll look a lot like him (style wise) by the time he leaves UGA.

Florida will be more than a one man show on offense this year, but their defense still has to improve. They have some apparent problems there.

This should be a really exciting year, and I plan on enjoying it regardless of the final outcome.

Chip, are the coaches allowing freshman DB Bacarri Rambo to compete for the return specialist role? According to the scouting reports, he is elusive in space and has the ability to make defenders miss. It is also stated that he can slither through a small crease, and quickly bounce outside.

This assesment gives me the impression that he will be used in a variety of roles. At which position, will Rambo make the most impact?

PRACTICE UPDATE II

A.J. Green is back to practicing. Running routes and doing everything full speed again… .

Speaking of wideouts, Michael Moore seemed to be having a tough day catching the ball. Had a couple or three drops during receivers’ skel… .

Little observation about Kenneth Harris and Mohamed Massaquoi: Looks like they’re serious about being leaders this season. After Tavarres King drew the wrath of coaches for not running a route to perfection, Harris took him aside and explained exactly what it was they were looking for. And when Coach Eason was explaining a concept about footwork breaking on a cut, without being prompted Massaquoi demonstrated how it’s done right… .

S John Knox was not in the green jersey that denotes an injured player but he did not have on pads and was not participating in drills with his position mates. Will have to find out what that’s about.

minookadawg I haven’t heard or seen much from Bacarri Rambo so far regarding the return game. I did notice yesterday he was sitting to the side with an ice pack on his hip area. But he was not mentioned in Richt’s post-practice injury report… . As far as A.J. Harmon, not sure what he weighed in at but he looks heavy to me and like he may be struggling a bit. But he most definitely is with the D-linemen… .

Dear Let The, Did tebow cry after that game? I dont remember. He’s an emotional player and was upset that they lost to such a mediocre team i guess. I’m not that worried about it. Also, he has a national championship ring and a heisman trophy so i’m pretty sure he’s not worried about crying either. As for Massaquoi he did actually catch the ball 1 time in the game last year so i give him credit for that. Good job guy. and it was a TD too; bonus points. But he’s pretty much been an underachiever and average at best over his career so i think believing you’re set at WR with him and a true freshman is a bit comical but hey, its what i expect from you guys. POST-PRACTICE UPDATE:

Biggest news of the day was on Tanner Strickland. The redshirt freshman guard was lauded after practice by CMR, who among other things said he is now battling Justin Anderson for the starting spot at right guard. It’s particularly notable because Strickland has pretty much been sidelined with injuries since he got here until this camp. “Before we started we wouldn’t have predicted that’d he’d be in it like he is now,” richt said… .

QB Joe Cox was held out because of a sore elbow on his throwin arm… . S John Knox sat out due to too dyhydration. Too much weight loss and not enough gain-back before Wednesday’s workout… .

For the fella that asked about Richard Samuel cross-training or converting to fullback, that’s not going to happen, according to running backs coach Tony Ball. He said there is a very good possibility Samuel could line up in the backfield at the same time as Knowshon and that Samuel is a good blocker but that he is NOT what the Dogs are looking for at FB. I take that to mean they like Samuel at 6-2, 215 and don’t plan to put 30 pounds on him… .

Speaking of Samuel, he’s getting some work at kick returner, though firmly behind Asher Allen and Remarcus Brown.

Speaking of fullbacks Richt raved about a block converted linebacker Benjamin Boyd put on a blitzing defender during practice. “His christening as a fullback,” Richt said with a laugh… .

Most impressive freshman so far might have to go to cornerback Brandon Boykin. “He’s the guy that has made the most plays,” Richt said… .

Richt bragged on QB Matthew Stafford again Wednesday. “He’s really been outstanding. He’s leading and throwing and really just knowing what to do.”

There are many, many reports that T-bone was crying after that game since he got sacked so many times. T-bone is a crier, the azz-clown Meyer is a crier, the entire crowd of croc fans are criers. Hey, don’t take it so badly - UGA also made another overrated QB cry in the 4th quarter of the Sugar Bowl. Do you recall Colt Brennan getting hammered in that game? Please donate as many boxes of kleenex as you can to the croc football team, boys. They will need all you can provide. I would also recommend a box of Depends for Urban Crier in preparation for the azz whipping on November 1st; you avid fans would not want to see that boy pi$$ his pants on national TV, would you?

Kerry B- Dirtiest coach and program in the SEC????????? HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HAH A HA HA HA HA HA HA. That is comical. Fact is the pups are the the least classy program in not only the SEC but the country. I hope you were able to see Jim Rome is Burning the other day. This goes back many years with the dawgs and its pathetic fans. Bottles broken over heads, peeing in public, drunk driving, on and on I could go. Not to mention stomping Vandy’s logo, storming the field after scoring a touchdown, selling SEC championship rings, 8 arrests each ofthe last two years. Get a clue before you start calling other teams dirty and lacking class my friend. Do you really wonder why UGA is known as the current day Miami??? I mean the only thing the sports shows have been talking about the last few days have been Brett Favre and UGA and its lack of class. It is really not that hard to figure out. Even coach Richt is the first to admit there is a problem. You are right about one thing Richt does have Class but he is the only person on that entire team and in the entire Dawg nation in my opinion that has an ounce of class. It certainly does not help either when the entire country gets to listen to the fan base cry like a bunch of five year olds about not playing for the national championship when they can not even beat out 6 teams to get to their own division championship. In the words of Jim Rome Stay classy.

Hey Let, you should quit hiding those emotions and let those Gator fans really know how you feel, keep going. Georgia loses, we chalk it up, say the better team won, and move on. UF loses, they have one of those wrist wraps that give them a list of excuses. Pathetic crybabies, grow up, this is the SEC, not the big 10. UF, spend all your focus on getting back at us for our endzone celebration. You should have lost three games if you do that by the time we get to JAX.

Hey Smokey, The vol players don’t live in glass trailers, from what I remember of your teams they are grasss trailers. Smoke if you got em’ if not just snort the lines. Sorry your such an idiot the east side of the Chatooga is South Carolina, and they were obviously inbred and from Tenn. One of them even resembled your coach Spanky, he is in real good shape. Fat boy must be where he eats. All of your coaches are out of shape, we beat you at Basketball did you win that championship, oh we did with six or seven players,oh baseball, did you win that championship? Oh yeah we did. So when was the last time your men’s programs won any championships other than your annual trip to Orlando or Tampa. Womens, oh yeah we’ve got a few of those trophies too, and you can look at our women and know they are women. So mind your business, find a paper in Tennessee, if there is one. Assuming you can read of course. Put on your orange coveralls so you can work on the road, go hunting, then get drunk and throw bottles at people in that den of inequity that you call a stadium. Get a life and get on your blog, not ours.

Nolan, I see your first problem. You’re stupid enough to watch Jim Rome. This is the same guy that has a moron like Terrance Moore on his show all the time. I noticed that you spewed your Ga stuff again but did not have an answer for one of your players cowardly sucker punching another student and Phil not doing anything about it. Yes, Georgia players have been arrested or cited for underage drinking that makes up about 95 pecent of the arrests. I’m a Police officer in a town with colleges in it It happens all the time the only difference is that they play for a major college and the media gets ahold of it. I assure you that Tenn. players are doing the same thing but are either not getting caught or the Police there choose to not do their duty and overlook it. You should think before you start throwing stones because next offseason 5-10 of your players could have the same thing happen to them. Ask Penn State and countless other schools.

Will Soldier boy sing the National Anthem at the Georgia Southern game aganist Thuga this year? Might be a good motivational tool to overcome the loss of the thugs that are in jail. Rumor has it Richt is inviting the Head of the Hospital that the thugs trashed to sit in the president’s box with his buddy Adams.

Living here in the ATH and talking to some locals who were at “The Library” Friday night, King was talking a little too much trash. Hopefully the upperclassmen will set him straight in camp and humble him a little. He has amazing ability and potential to be a key part of the Dawgs success!

Steve, you are so wrong. Coach Richt has invited the Chief Thoracic Surgeon at St. Mary’s to be the Offesive Coordinator for the GA Southern game. Bobo will be serving drinks in Prez Adams box. Soulja Boy could not make it. Instead we are going to have Toby Keith sing the National Anthem. And he is hoping you will show because he plans to put a boot in your a$$ cause it’s the American way. It will look great on the big screen scoreboard.

Nolan, I also forgot to answer your comment about the fans crying about not being in the title game. You can’t tell me that one toothless Tenn fan would’nt be crying if they got to #2 and was jumped by the 5th place team. But I forgot, you guys have not even been close to that in about 10 years. No BCS games only Peach Bowl losses. Matter a fact you were the luckiest team in the SEC last year. You must have set some kind of record for losing 21 point leads last year. You should’nt have even been playing in the SEC title game because you could’nt beat an LSU team that lost it’s last game to Arkansas at home that we would have destroyed in that game. Tenn fans make me sick. They think they’re all about something but they hav’nt dome anything in the last ten years and cry to fire their coach every year. They will probably do that again this year. I know one thing about this season. The second week in October in Athens you guys are going to get the butt kicking of your lives and you can’t do anything about it.

Uh, the hospital that they “trashed” is the official healthcare provider for UGAA. And the “head of the hospital” can sit wherever he wants pretty much anytime.

And Soulja Boy will not even be played at Sanford Stadium this year according to Damon Evans.

Sounds like Steve is a little bitter that he didn’t get accepted to UGA and had to go to Southern!

Cuz, when are you and the Bulldog nation going to wake up and smell the coffee? Thuga is becoming known around the country as “The Miami of the SEC” because of their thuggery behavior. Saint Richt learned all about recruiting the thugs under Saint Bobby at FSU. Richt will probably look the other way when Thuga gets in fights on the field this year. That big 2 game suspension for trashing a hospital really sends a message to the rest of the team. Any other coach would have kicked the player off the team.

If he was a man, he’d meet me somewhere and let me teach him a lesson. But he’s not…just another whiny UT fan who knows their days are numbered. Losing season on the way in 2009, so enjoy your 8-4 record in 2008 (Peach Bowl here you come). UT has absolutely no chance against UGA. Bama begins a long winning streak against UT in 2009 (if not 2008). UCLA will kill UT. Florida should beat them but might not because neither team has a defense. Vandy has another great shot at beating them. Auburn will beat them. That’s 4 or 5 losses right there.

Hey Realist, don’t belittle Georgia Southern alums. Many of us have degrees from both schools and most are dawg fans too. Some of us got our undergrad there because we were on scholarship not becasue we “couldn’t get accepted at UGA”. Chip- Any news on Moreno? Obviously Moreno is the first string, does he appear to be playing as hard as he was last year? I just hope we don’t get a sophomore slump out of him with all of the hype surrounding the team and his potential for the Heisman.

How is King looking in practice? I’m really hoping that we can get some play-making receivers together that will catch whatever Stafford throws them this year. Problem has been we just haven’t had enough of them. The receiver I was probably most impressed with last season was of course Massaquoi, but other than him I’d say Kris Durham. Skinny and tall, but he’d go up for anything and seemed to catch almost anything that Stafford threw in his remote vicinity. What other receivers are stepping up?

steve, many of us reading your rants over the past few days wonder: Do you actually have a point? other than to reinforce that you care more about disliking UGA than you actually do about supporting whatever school it is you do. If you infact actually have one.

You are concerned about our program and the safety, reputation of our kids? You are trying to see if you can convince hard core UGA fans that we should not be? You are proactively setting up your own hard feeling incase UGA beats your school? You just want folks to associate you with a bitter, often juvenile sounding person?

What exactly is your function here??
