UGA blog finds new home
Morning all. As I’ve said a couple of times this week, we’re converting this blog over to a WordPress platform and it will be a permanent move the first of next week.
Those of you who are regulars probably know that I’m not what you’d call techno-wizard when it comes to these things. But from what I understand the technology offered in this new format should make the blogging and commenting experience better for all. Of course, I’ll be learning as we go along, too. But I’m hoping to provide more pictures and video and things like that which should bring the blog more to life.
Of course, this blog is nothing without all you guys so I want to heartily invite (read: beg) you to come over to the new site by CLICKING HERE ON THE NEW ADDRESS and save it in your browsers. As of Monday, Feb. 23rd, this will be the permanent home of the UGA blog you so love or, in the case of some of you, love to loathe. If you’d prefer to copy and paste or just memorize, the new address is: http://blogs.ajc.com/uga-sports-blog/.
See at the new place!

Richt greets media throng in Birmingham
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Greetings from the Grand Ballroom at the Wynfrey Hotel. It’s Day Two of SEC Football Media Days and Georgia coach Mark Richt is up on the podium right now as we blog.
I got a few of e-mails from readers the last 12 hours or so wishing that the story on Urban Meyer’s condemnation of Georgia’s touchdown celebration last year was a blog topic. As I told them, this is always your UGA blog and you can feel free to take it any direction you want to take it. So if you have feelings on the subject, blog on.
Meanwhile, I had the opportunity to meet with Coach Richt before his main session with the entire media contingent. I got some discipline news on Trinton Sturdivant and Justin Anderson, some of his thoughts on the expectations this season and lots of other tidbits. Check back on the website regularly and you’ll see those stories pop up throughout the day.
We’ll also visit with Alabama, Ole Miss and Tennessee today and pass on information from those sessions. So lots to come. I’ll get back to the blog as often as possible but will be real, real busy reporting today. Until then …

I love UGA. Im the biggest supporter that they have. I don’t have to actually report news, I just write this stupid blog and give my retarded opinion in hopes that it gets you guys arguing in here. In fact, me and T Moore sit down every morning, and we decided what garbage he is going to write to enrage all of you ignorant rednecks, and then I decide how I can stick my nose a couple more inches up your butts. We do this because the more people that read our blogs and argue like stupid white trash on them, the more the AJC pays us. I love UGA so much, sooooooooooooo much. I suck up to everything uga, and love to take it in the butt from dawgs. Im going to go beat off to some replays now, and dream about fondling CMR’s ballsack. MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM

Steve Spurrier could shoot his mouth off with the best of them. He was a jerk but you just could not beat his Gators. Urban Meyer is upset at The Celebration, but he should be upset that UGA was much more physical in the WLOCP, and frankly he should be much more upset that he spent all his time recruiting a gazillion wide receivers while leaving his defense and his running game to flounder. I think he wanted to be the coaching genius that was known for inventing or perfecting the spread. His mantra was, in effect, once we have our spread QB at Florida we will be unstoppable. He got what he wanted and ended the season with 4 losses. If you’re going to be upset, be upset at the 4 losses, including one to a team that lost to Appalachian State.

Chip - great job covering the SEC media days thus far… but, c’mon how CMR is going to handle the discipline of Sturdivant and Anderson is HUGE news. Don’t tease us like that?!
Does anyone else know? I am hoping for no games lost, just in-house stuff. That was the biggest trumped up charge I have ever heard of.

Talk does not win football games nor does a celebration in the end zone. If coach Urban had not played a superior team and been a better coach the gators might have won… We have a brutal schedule ahead. If we can stay healthy and Stafford plays the he is capable of playing we could pull this off and be NATIONAL CHAMPS. Go DAWGS I cant wait.

Guess what Gators? The Dawgs are still miffed at Spurrier running a reverse on the Georgia ten yard line with the game in hand and less than three minutes to play, and also the Florida defense doing the Heisman pose and then falling over laughing when Robert Edwards was a Heisman canidate,we are still miffed out the officials who give Florida a QUESTIONABLE time out after the ball was snapped and a winning Georgia TD was nullified several years ago when Zier was QB. Florida miffed at a clean end zone celebration in a game they had three more quarters to do something about it and give up six TD’s.Take a letter and get in line.

Chip- I like reading your columns on the Bulldogs. I believe that you are very objective and informative. I heard CMR say to the reporters today how would you like to have everything you did at age 22 posted all over the media and internet. I did some dumb stuff at that age myself. Coach Richt is a very wise man and I trust his judgement greatly, where the UGA team is concerned. That being said glad he did not suspened the two O lineman. Also why can I not dislike Tebow? I disdain the Gators football team, but Tebow is a high character person.

Urban Meyer didn’t have a problem with Tebow scoring against LSU and then running up to their student section and giving them the gator chomp and other gestures. Urban, this isn’t the Mountain West. Get used to it you bafoon.
PS: I say to really get under his skin, when UGA scores first this year, the whole team show 0 emotion, walk over to the bench, sit down, and just put their finger to their mouth in the Hush gesture.

Granted, we lost to Appalachian State last year, but we sure beat the crap out of Florida in OUR bowl. We couldn’t believe how soft the gators were.
One thing is for sure; the gators better be glad they are playing the Citidel this year rather than Appalachian State.
I bet their crybaby coach is still upset about losing to us and going 9-4. He has to be looking over his back for a successor. But it was fun beating the Heisman Trophy winner.
Wonder if Steve Superior is ready to go back to Gainesville yet? Chip, why don’t you ask him?

There was so much stuff at Media Days today we couldn’t get it all into tomorrow’s reports. So here’s some bonus coverage especially for you guys… .
**Georgia DT Jeff Owens on which team is their biggest rival: “I think our biggest rival is Georgia Tech. They are in Georgia. You can’t deny the in-state rivalry. You get bragging rights for a year.” …
UGA WR Mohamed Massaquoi on wearing the black jerseys: “I don’t think we play better in black necessarily but definitely more emotionally. We love putting them on and hopefully we can wear them a little more this season.” …
Richt was asked to compare Moreno-Stafford to other RB-QB duos he’s coached: Charlie Ward-Warrick Dunn was a pretty great tandem no doubt. These guys, I don’t know if they can rival that or not. When you look at the production of Charlie and Warrick together it’s pretty spectacular. Will they be as productive? I don’t know. As far as being creative with those guys, Knowshon is versatile enough to do something besides be an I-back, no question. I think Matthew has more running ability than people give him credit for. They do give you some versatility… .
Ole Miss coach Houston Nutt on the BCS: I love bowls, been a bowl guy my whole life. I love bowls. The plus-one, as long as you keep the bowls, that’s fine. But I go back to I love bowl games. Love bowl games. That’s a reward… . Plus-one, maybe. But I’m for the bowls.” …
Tennessee coach Phillip Fulmer on being picked third in the East in most preseason publications: Georgia finished second in the country. south Carolina was sixth in the country in November. Florida had a great team and the best player in the country in Tim Tebow and a couple of really special guys around him. I guess we just happen to be in the best division of the best conference in the entire country.”

He who is fat, a liar and going to have to sit on the Witness Stand and either lie or admit he turned Bama in for what he himself did, is going to find himself in Contempt if he lies to the Court as he did to the NCAA.
vols’ fans have been looking for an excuse to www.FireFulmer.com because for 6 solid entire seasons in a row and counting, Fulmer has been ranked worse than UGA in the AP Polls.

On the topic of the WLOCP; I truly hope both are undefeated and #1/#2. I want to see the greatest game of my lifetime. Greatest game in collage football history. Urban Meyer will run his QB to death in order to get his revenge. Hurt or not hurt. We need our linebackers to put their heads down and tackle him just like any other RB. Van Gorder would have put in a special game plan just for the QB. The way we knocked out, back to back Ala. QB’s at Ga a few years ago. Sick’em Dawgs!

asswipe, I agree. hit ‘em, hit em’ again, and hit em’ some more. I remember the game two years ago when Tony Taylor about took his head off. He fumbled, and I don’t recall him running the ball anymore. I know he didn’t start but… But on a side note, I think to much attention is going to UF. I know they are eating it up in JAX, whether good or bad. We need to look at the whole picture, the team and the schedule. My pet peeve with UGA is respect every team, weak or strong. And don’t be tight, timid, play loose and have fun. I think that is where UGA is now, after the UF game. UGA gets caught disrespecting a Vandy or Kentucky. They are timid and tight with SOS, and until now UF. Tenn and aubur, you just have to bring it and be ebery bit as physical. One more thing, don’t give up on what’s working. I am not going to get into the 60% debate, but if you are running down their throat, keep running. Make them stop you. Same passing.

Oh my God, you like Phfat Fil, do you Gen (He likes to play cupcake strength of schedules) Neyland.
Here is what he’s done the last half a dozen years :
Snitched on Alabama when Tee Martin (from Alabama) admitted that he was paid $7,000 by vols’ boosters within two weeks of his NC.
52-25 the vols have gone over the last half a dozen years.
64-15 Coach Richt has gone over the last half a dozen years.
Phfat Fil not been ranked ahead of Coach Richt any single solitary year for the last half a dozen years.
Had the Fulmer Cup named after himself for his recruiting.
Seen every running back for the vols in his entire career since stabbing the head coach for the vols at the time in the back to get the job, all arrested for drugs. Every single solitary one.
Phfat Fil has been Number 19 in Wins in the nation over the last half a dozen years with ZERO SEC Championships.
How bad has Fulmer been the last half a dozen years ? So bad that Miami of Florida believe it or not, has actually been better than Phfat Fil.
While at 64-15 both Coach Richt and LSU over the last half a dozen years, Auburn has been 59-18, and Florida even has been 54-23, and then in just The SEC alone, the vols for the last half a dozen years have been 5th in The SEC at 52-25.
Now, he has no Offensive Coordinator again, no Quarterback again, and another running back strung out on drugs.
948 Academic Progress Rate Multi-year APR for the vols football team under Phfat Fil compared, for example, with Coach Richt’s APR for the same current time period of 965 - significantly better for Coach Richt’s recruits than for Fulmer’s misfits, drug addicts, and losers.
NFL finds now that UGA has 52 on NFL rosters today according to ESPN while the vols have only 43.
Recruiting, Fulmer has completely gone stone cold unable to recruit compared with Coach Richt’s Recruiting ever since the very day that Rodney Gardner left the vols and Fulmer where he taught Tight Ends for Fulmer (when he is a DL All-SEC) and came to UGA.
Been rumored to be fired for some time now, while vols’ fan Gen Neyland actually defends Phfat Fil saying it ain’t so - none of this.
Oh, hell yeah it is so - every word of this.

If you are going to snitch to the NCAA for that which you are personally proven to have done yourself Mr. Fulmer, then by God - every time you go to Alabama - you are going to have to take the Witness Stand and lie under Oath there too to cover it up.
For 4 solid years now, Fulmer has paid fines total at this point of $10,000 for refusing to go to Alabama where he faces two (2) separate lawsuits for his Lies Under Oath to The NCAA as an NCAA snitch.
Snitch for which he himself is personally responsible for the exact same infractions, as he accuses other SEC schools of committing. And, Gen Neyland comes in here defending him. Even after he was served his subpoena last night, he lied and said he was not served.
He has at least 1 more subpoena he is going to be served with, finally going to Alabama.

As for the other controversy of Urban Crybaby, here is Coach Richt’s answer :
” You know, people want to talk about streaks in that game. The way I see it, we won last year. We won two out of the last four,” Richt said. “And if you want to start going back in history, you might as well go back to the beginning of the history of the series and see where Georgia is there. I don’t know why everybody wants to go just 15 games back. I mean, if you want to go back, go back to the beginning. If you want to talk about recent history, let’s talk about last year, the last few games, you know. “

Rodney Garner Honorable Mention All-America Auburn his Senior Season and Captain for SEC Champions Auburn, also 1st Team All-America and Captain Leeds High School - all as Defensive Lineman.
Phfat Fil had Garner coaching Tight Ends and Offensive Linemen. How stupid is that ?
UGA hired Garner, now our Assistant Head Coach and Defensive Line Coach and Recruiting Coordinator, as Defensive Line Coach. How stupid can Pfat Fil be ?
There are no bounds to how stupid Phfat Fil can be.

“I have not seen a subpoena,” Fulmer said. “This is not the place for that kind of thing. The great fans that are very passionate about the Southeastern Conference aren’t interested in that kind of B.S.
“And I would have some other choice words if there weren’t so many cameras in here.”
.
If he lies like that on the Witness Stand 25 September the day before he loses to Auburn, he will find himself in Federal Prison and Guilty of a Felony.
And, this is somehow Alabama’s Fault ? The booster involved is not from Alabama, but from Tennessee. And, he is not associated with Alabama whatsoever, as Alabama specifically Officially disassociated itself from the Tennessee Resident Wendell Smith. In case anyone forgets this lawsuit against Phillip Fulmer of which there are many including this 1 Fulmer Under Oath Lied to the NCAA that Wendell Smith paid a recruit to play for Alabama.
Fulmer will have to PROVE that statement 1 day before he loses to Auburn.

By the way Gen Neyland, sir, while Coach Richt has a Winning Record over Tommy Tuberville of Auburn since he took this gig here, Phfat Fil has not beat and has Lost Every Game against Tubs at 0-3 in The Coach Richt Era.
He will be 0-4.
Because he has to avoid pitfalls such as bringing anything up on the Witness Stand that would open the discussion to Tee Martin and his admission that within 2 weeks of the tainted NC, that Tee Martin in fact admits he took several payments at a Convenience Store totaling $7,000 in payments to play for the vols.
For 4 years, I have waited for this damnable day when Fulmer would have to travel to Alabama and be served in these two (2) subpoenas for 2 different cases for Lying Under Oath Sworn Affidavits Signed By Phillip Fulmer.
He’s going down.
And, you sir, are On Record of Defending Phfat Fil Gen Neyland.

If it hadn’t been football players, I wonder if this pregnant woman would have even reported that her stomach had been touched? And, yes, I’m sure she knew that they were. I went to UGA, I hung out with athletes and non-athletes and you didn’t have to know them personally to know who was who. Years later when I was pregnant (and NOT hanging out at college dorms with drunken boys), it wasn’t unusual for strangers to feel the need to touch my stomach. It was creepy, yes, but I didn’t run to the police and cry assault. I just walked away.

Wish CMR had just said - at the media day thingy - ‘Gee, I thought I had put this to rest last year…I apologized to the league, I explained and, sorta, apologized to Coach Myer, I explained to my team what I meant by ‘celebration’ and I admitted that it wasn’t the thing to do. Now, apparently because he wants to sell some books, Coach Myer’s bringing it all back up again and I’ve got to go over it all again. Well, so be it. What I really believe is that we, in effect, threw down the gauntlet in the first quarter of that game with that ‘celebration’…Coach Myer huddled his guys together and charged them to ‘join the battle’…and we ended up scoring 42 points and won the game by twelve. That pretty much is the story as far as I’m concerned. If Coach Myer thinks he needs to revisit this for any reason other than promoting his book - most people wait until they’ve compiled a bit more of a reputation and legacy before they ‘skin their ego’ with a book with their name in the title, by the way - then fine. We intend to show up November 1, and, hopefully will be undefeated going into that game - no small feat. Now does anybody want to know about how we’re gonna handle Georgia Southern, LSU, Tennessee, Auburn, Georgia Tech, Alabama, South Carolina, Arizona State, etc., etc., etc.?’
