UGA blog finds new home
Morning all. As I’ve said a couple of times this week, we’re converting this blog over to a WordPress platform and it will be a permanent move the first of next week.
Those of you who are regulars probably know that I’m not what you’d call techno-wizard when it comes to these things. But from what I understand the technology offered in this new format should make the blogging and commenting experience better for all. Of course, I’ll be learning as we go along, too. But I’m hoping to provide more pictures and video and things like that which should bring the blog more to life.
Of course, this blog is nothing without all you guys so I want to heartily invite (read: beg) you to come over to the new site by CLICKING HERE ON THE NEW ADDRESS and save it in your browsers. As of Monday, Feb. 23rd, this will be the permanent home of the UGA blog you so love or, in the case of some of you, love to loathe. If you’d prefer to copy and paste or just memorize, the new address is: http://blogs.ajc.com/uga-sports-blog/.
See at the new place!

I saw this coming all along
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Just kidding, but Georgia’s 42-30 win over Florida on Saturday was solid and quite reminiscent of the ones the Bulldogs used to put on the Gators routinely in the 1970s and 1980s.
Knowshon Moreno had 188 yards rushing and three touchdowns and Matthew Stafford threw two long touchdown passes to Mohamed Massaquoi and Mikey Henderson as the Bulldogs beat Florida for the first time since 2004, only the second time in seven years under Mark Richt and for just the third time in the last 18 meetings.
This was not flukey either. The Dogs were clearly highly motivated for this one. And for good reason. Suddenly they’re back in the thick of the SEC race.
As Larry Munson once said, “there’s going to be some property destroyed tonight!”
What do y’all think about it?

I know why he did it but I don’t like giving UF 30 free yds.You can’t predict how something like that will effect either team anyway.

Yes, sending the team into the endzone fired up the fans and fired up the team; but it also fired up Florida. Either a very DUMB move on Richt’s part to taunt the Gator, but on the other hand, could prove to be a brilliant move to get into their heads.

A classless display by UGAy. Their alumni should be embarrassed. Luckily, my SAT score was too high to go there. I hope Florida does the same thing when the score is 45-7.

Dawg fans you gotta give props to CMR today. They came to WIN! they’re pulling out all the stops. WE may not win, but not from lack of effort. We’re doing the most with what we have. 1 RB, maybe 1 WR, and a young QB.Keep the faith…its a long game

Fat Boy Tebow isn’t doing much running. Percy Harvin is a beast today, but I feel like today is Morenos day. You can see the fire in his eyes..
Willy Martinez has come to play today, and the dawg nation thanks him for that.. They are reading the changes just as fast as the gators make em.
In any case, this is a great game—

Wrong, Stephen. In a game like this, bad calls can make or break a team and these refs have been bent on breaking our dawgs based on their calls/missed calls.

Where are these refs from? Gainesville, FL? The 5 yard penalty that cost us that long pass play in the 3rd Quarter was a bunch of bull. Somebody please teach Prince Miller how to tackle! But so far … for the most part … with a few exceptions … we do look better! That extra week makes a huge amount of difference. If we can just move the ball in the 4th quarter and keep up the pressure defensively … and TACKLE people … we may yet win this thing. GO DAWGS!

Enjoy it you Dawg fans. The Bulldogs earned a well-earned victory today. You have a good defense. The Gators have no defense. That was the difference. Next year, I fully believe the defensive problems will be resolved by the Gators…and, if it is, no one will stop the Gators. How can you give a wide receiver a 20-yard cushion when it is 3rd and 12…with the game on the line? If the Gators stop the Dogs there, they win by 2 touchdowns. It has happened over and over again this year. But I think Kyle Jackson blew it again…and he is the main reason the Gators lost today…along with some very perplexing offensive play calling…like running a double reverse on 4th and 2 on the 25 yard line…now that is crazy! The Gators will have Will Hill at free safety next year and Major Wright will move to strong safety. What you saw today will not happen next year. But the Dawgs earned it today. No Gator excuses. The better team won today. I personally don’t thing Dawg fans will experience that joy again for several more years. So enjoy it while you can.

Someone please explain where this Georgia team has been hiding????? If they had been playing like this all year they would be undefeated!! YES I said UNDEFEATED! Tebow may have had an excuse but I don’t really think it would have mattered much anyway. He cannot be the feature back and not expect to play injured. Either he needs to play running back or QB, not both!!!

Man, what a great game! The streak is over and a new one begins. We beat the Defending National Champions, and I’ve been waiting since Ohio State took their whoopin’ last year to be able to say that!
When I saw those Dawgs all run out on the field after that first score (at first I hated it) I knew that this was a different team than we have been seeing. I love the fire that CMR showed. Even if we lose the rest of the games this year, tonight feels sweet and I will savor it for a long time.
Eat all those big words and trash talk Gator big mouths, and to the few Gator fans on here with some class, Great Game! It was undecided til late in the game, and ya’ll never gave up. I’ve been saying it for years, the bye week is absolutely huge in the SEC, and it certainly made the difference for us this time.
Let’s go out and win the rest of em, and hope this was the game that finally turns the corner for Stafford… he’s got a true threat at tailback to help him out and the recievers all looked great tonight, especially Sean and Mikey with key grabs.
Go dawgs!!!!!!!!!!

Hey, Eddie, Crocs and Gators arses are diferent. When the Gators bite another chunk out of your arse again next year you will then know the difference between the two…as you have for 15 out of the last 18 years! And the run out on the field, by the way, is something Meyer would never do…no matter how many times in a row Georgia beat him. That was classless to the max! I thought Richt had more class than that, but I guess I was wrong.

I don’t hear anyone making excuses about Tebow. He played a great game…but he was limited in what he could do with the banged up shoulder. Do you think the Dawgs would have blitzed him so if he had been 100 percent. If they had, he would have burned them by running hard up the middle for big gains. He could not do that consistently today, and that allowed the Dawgs defence to tee off on him. If you don’t think he has guts and is not a great player, you are kidding yourself. He is by far the best individual player in the SEC. He can carry a team on a weekly basis, and not many players can do that. Mareno is a fantastic player as well. But he will get hurt if he continues to make those spin moves between the tackles…someone will hit a knee on one of those turns and his career will be over. Not that I wish that. But I can see it happening. But he is a fantastic RB, and very scary to defend. And he was almost a Gator. Too bad. But will will have a similar RB next year in the RB that transferred from USC. He is a very similar player to Mareno. Fast, quick, and has a lot of moves. Having him in the backfield next year will be yet another weapon for the Gators.

What a great win to come right out and smack the gators in the face with that first drive and I like the celebration by the whole team. Question…if the whole team gets penalized how can you penalize an individual player for the same thing. Refs tried to steal the game from us but the Dawgs would not be denied.
Hunker down Dawgs! Won’t be any more gator smack until next year. We’re 2-2 over the last four and the gators have lost 3 out of their last 4 SEC games…ouch. Nice game G8tr ;-o)

That’s got to be the best Ga-Fl game since Belue to Scott. For the first time this year I had fun watching the dawgs play. They never struggled and the offense kept moving the ball. Stafford and Moreno are both the real deal and the O-line is really coming together. It’s not too late to win the SEC but they’ll have to play with that same intensity for 4 more games. (and I mean absolutely no letdown for Troy because we’ve seen how bad the dawgs can play if they’re not playing at 100%)

Tebow for heisman? Hmmm…don’t think so. He “led” a team which was dominated on both sides of the ball. Not sure, but Heisman candidates usually don’t take 6 sacks in one game…of course his shoulder might have had something to do with it??? Nah…he’s just not what the analysts thought he was. Heisman contenders play through pain and they don’t shy away from a loose ball which they dropped. What a pansy… Superman? What a joke. The Dawgs dominated and made it look easy. Moreno for Heisman.

After that stunt Meyer pulled against Auburn; calling a timeout just before they snapped the ball for a field goal try so they would have to kick it twice… and now acting like he is beyond doing anything like what we did tonight is a joke. You better believe that Meyer was tickled to death when we did what we did because it should have fired his guys up, but it didn’t because we decided to just come out and handle ya’ll like a two dollar who-re on a Saturday night. We rubbed it in your face and said “what are you gonna do about it?” Don’t act like Meyer is a class act and Richt is low down, that dog won’t hunt.

Atlanta Gator, you are a class act and I appreciate your contributions to the blog.
I am invoking the rules of the Jacksonville Convention, Gators cannot talk smack about the Dawgs for the next 50 weeks. I did it, prove you are man enough to follow the rules. The winner, Dawgs, get to talk smack for the next 52 weeks. I have 50 weeks of smack I am ready to unload.
The Gators are overrated. Your coach is now crying in his press conference. Percy Harvin and Tim Tebow are not thunder and lightning. More like a sparkler and a pack of matches. Face it Mullets, belong in a river, not on your head. Jean shorts should at least be hemmed in to make them semi-acceptable. The pendulum has swung back our way, get used to it. And finnally, take that NC, click your heels and say, “There’s no place like home”. Go back to Gainesville with your reptillian tale tucked between your legs. And crow tastes alot like chicken if you use enough bar-b-que sauce.

When all the emotion subsided after the first few minutes it came down to execution. The dawgs just made more plays. They didn’t miss blocks, they held on to the ball, they caught catchable passes. They stayed in bounds when they had the lead. It’s not rocket science it’s blocking and tackling. Now that GA knows how to beat the best teams in the country maybe they will keep attacking. I still don’t like the soft cover 2, but we got enough pressure on Tebow all night that we could gamble. Ga is also in need of a jitterbug rec/back like P. Harvin. Look for Auburn and Kentucky to stack 8 in the box and throw underneath on our D. I love the running game. Let the Big Dawg Eat

What a game. If the Dawgs took the field every game with that kind of attitude they would be undefeated at this point of the season. I have nothing but good things to say about the entire Dawg effort, coaching, offense, defense, special teams, etc. were great. The only thing negative about the game was the officiating. Two intentional face mask penalties against the dawgs was a joke. Both were accidental and the intentional facemask by Florida was not even called. And the not enough men on the line of scrimmage against the call by four seconds after the ball was snapped by an official 200 yards from the line of scrimmage was another bad call. Florida nor the officials could overcome the Dawgs on this day. What a great game. One of the best under the Mark Richt era. Wish I was at the Jax Landing tonight! Would have been a great game to hear Larry Munson call. Stafford finally had a real break out game. The receivers had a break out game. And then there is the man, MORENO!!!
Now all we need is for SC to beat TN and for Florida to beat SC and for the Dawgs to win out!

Well like most Georgia fans I’m extremely happy that we won the game. I’m sure all my neighbors save one don’t have any idea what all the yelling and celebrating here at my home in Virginia was all about. But this is one of the more satisfying Georgia victories in memory. I hope the team learned some things about itself tonight and builds on this performance for the rest of the season and all future Georgia-Florida games. That extra week really does make a difference and I hope it remains where it is in all future schedules. My hat’s off to Tebow for playing as well as he did. He’s a helluva quarterback even when hurt. I’m also much happier with the way our defensive line played tonight and the blitz packages that Martinez put in at key moments of the game. We were spirited and clearly came to play with intensity. However we still have much to work on in the fundamental areas of the game … especially when it comes to tackling. There were still way too many Gator yards gained after catches. We’re still trying to knock the hell out of the ball carrier without wrapping up. That’s poor technique … but the good news is that it can be corrected by coaching. But for now let’s just enjoy the victory! Bobo’s game plan featuring run first and pass only when necessary and sometimes to cross up their defense was a good one. Both Martinez, whom I have hesitantly criticized in the past, and Bobo, with whom previously I was beginning to get impatient, stepped up tonight and combined with the intensity and execution displayed by the team, proved to be the difference in this contest. Congratulations Dawgs and thank you! As Larry said after Lindsay’s long run many years ago, “Man is there going to be some property destroyed tonight!” But the best thing about this win is that sometime tomorrow, or next week, or whenever I see my next door neighbor, who just happens to be a Florida alumnus, I can cheerfully look him in the eye and casually say “Hey, did you catch that Georgia-Florida game on Saturday?” How sweet it is!

I read all the comments and unless I missed it, no one mentioned what a great offensive game plan Bobo came up with. It was great to see us stick with the run the entire first drive. TampGator WINS! First out of the box with the Tebow was injured excuse! Also NOW you need another year to pull closer to us. Yes, your defense is young and toasted. Ours is young too. Tebow did play a great game -15 yards is a hell of a total for rushing. He could barely keep the tears out of his eyes the whole game in was in so much pain. Can’t believe Meyer left him in the game. I thought he would have removed him after at least the 5th sack.

A few observations:
Great win by the dawgs. We’ve seen flashes of this all year. This is the first time they put it all together for four complete quarters.
I’m all for coaches doing something drastic to get your team fired up, but I didn’t like seeing the bench emptying celebration. That almost got real ugly, real quick. All it would have took is a couple of Fla players to take exception and the next thing you know, you’ve got both benches out there in a brawl.
It took the Refs about half the first quarter to get things settled down after that celebration. They don’t like that sh1t. Maybe that’s the reason some of those calls went against GA.
Hopefully, we’ve seen the end of the “tailback by committee” strategy. Would the dawg running attack been as successful if they had Brown and Lump back there as well and they kept swapping out? I don’t think so.
I’m a Dawg fan, but I do realize that a healthy Tebow, and its a different game. That’s the breaks. Sorta like when GA went down there two years ago with Joe T at the helm.
That play where Stafford took a knee and then got leveled. That was the most blatant cheap shot I’ve seen in a long time. Of course, maybe that’s what running out on the field celebrating will get you.

Great move to orchestrate the celebration. NO other way around it. The Gators have been in our heads for way too long. The best way to get at UF is to get in their coach’s head. Meyer has shown that he can be rattled and thrown out of his game. He can be their biggest strength or their biggest weakness. Plus it gets the players back with Richt after the Vandy scene. Such a smart move. Next year they’ll be talking about the celebration in the end zone more in Gainesville than their pourous defense. If UGA loses we look like classless, with a win it’s genius.

59bulldawg, I live in VA as well and NO one had any idea why we Dawg fans were going ballistic today. It’s because they don’t know anything about what a real college rivalry is about!
That said, sorry Gator fans you will have to worry about Knowshon next year and then Caleb after that! Ouch! We’ll pencil you in for a win around ummmm 2012 just to make you feel good about yourselves.

You Gator (notice I didn’t type Gayturds) fans are bad winners and even worse losers. Gloat and talk $hit after a win and b*** and moan about “well we were injured, our secondary is young”..blah blah blah.
You LOST get over it, and if I hear one more “well we beat you 15 out of the last 17”, I will remind you who is still ahead in the alltime series (that would be the Dawgs) and who had a 19 out of 22 streak in the 70’s and 80’s (again that would be the Dawgs). So let me give you some advice….SHUT THE HELL UP AND TAKE IT LIKE A MAN!!

Wow..where to start ?? I’m speechless,I mean literally,I can gauge the excitement of a game by how hoarse I get and I can barely whisper now.I said earlier in the week that if Stafford completed 2 long passes and we got 3 turnovers I liked our chances.I think we got 2 turnovers to go along with the 80 yarder to MoMass and the 53 yarder to Henderson….good enough. What more can you add about what Moreno did ? for the second straight game he was the entire running game.Any O-tackles still undecided about where to go to school, who wouldn’t want to play before 93’000 people, for the best O-line coach in the game, with a great young group of skill players, in a great family atmosphere ? just asking.I could go on and on (and I will this week)just a great effort and maybe a watershed game for this program…..later all GO DAWGS.

One thing for sure that TD celebration was a TEAM effort. The deer in the headlight look for Cryer was hilarious! He looked lost the rest of the game.
Martinez and Bobo called a great game. Down field completions?
We had them tonight. OL great job! How many sacks did we end up with?
And if Tebow thinks he will keep doing his running sh!t in the SEC without getting banged up? Gotta get smarter than that. Not gonna run an entire season like that. We know it, Cryer now knows it, and the rest of the country knows it. Tebow is great WHEN healthy. Okay last year as a part timer, but week in and week out not gonna last a whole year.

OH MY GAWD!!! Instant classic! For all you naysayers and Richt/Bobo/Martinez haters: Just SHUT UP! Ya’ll have another week to sit and spin. Now for the game - I hate to pat myself on the back but this is what I posted on a previous blog this week.
Now for those old frts not living in fantasy land here’s the plan. It’s very simple, now pay attention and listen. Georgia has to win the battle of the clock and play error free football. Run the ball on offense, stop the run on defense, win the turnover battle and control the clock. It’s really very simple. I’ll bet your PeeWee league coach taught you that. Now, if MY BELOVED DAWGS cannot do this and are vanquished by the despised reptiles from the Swamp, then the better team will have won and I can live with that. The sun will rise Sunday and the birds will sing and we’ll get ready for Troy. DAWGS 33 Slimey Reptiles 31. Go DAWGS!!!!*
Am I Nostradamus or what? Sorry I missed the score if you were using it to place bets. I can live with it. Go you Wonderful, Beautiful, Hairy DAWGS!!!

Negative man is here. Please go back and replay your tape.1)How many times the ref called against GA? Coach Richt didn’t even try to question the calls. I think his too nice nature is contageous toward the ref too. 2)Again, if we look a little more carefully, FU stii can run at GA 10 yard a shot. This thing got to go if we want to go further. We got good players, Martinez plan is sux. Sacking the QB is more of individual thing, and not much of coaching (it can make Martinez hanging around next year though). 3)This is for UF (sorry FU); It is sickening to see Urban Meyer called those timeouts, and questioning the calls (well, part of the Meyer tactics I think). Frankly, do you think Urban Meyer care about Tebow well being? Or just to secure $3 mil a year pay check. I AM VERY PROUD THAT MY DOGS WON. I also believe that we will not have any NC as long as Martinez stay with GA. I think RICHT-STAFFORD will move on without NC (if MF Martinez is here).

It’s ashame a win this big (to Dawg Nation) is overshadowed by a complete classless act for your sad Pop Warner celebration after the 1st touchdown. Great call Mr Head Coach. I can’t wait to hear what your Sunday school teacher has to say about that wise decision.

I wonder where all the Richt haters are now? What morons? The guy has won 2 SEC titles in the past 5 years, more than any other coach and any other school. And yet some ignoramuses think that if you don’t “compete” for a National Championship every year you should be fired.
This game SHOULD NOT be moved from Jacksonville, but the SEC should closely monitor bye weeks. The Conference needs to figure out how to balance these bye weeks out, and yeah that includes our usual week off before the Auburn game. It was obvious that Georgia was much fresher than the Gators, just as they have been in the past. If they don’t play last week, Tebow is not hurt. Then again, if Georgia doesn’t play Arkansas before Florida in 04, DJ doesn’t get hurt.
And did anyone notice that Tebow had a hurt shoulder??????? After all Lundquist and Danielson only told us 150 times today on almost every single Gator play from scrimmage. Yeah he was hurt but that is football and he did play. He is a great player and terrific competitor. Knowshon was awesome, but ole Matthew Stafford was pretty good himself.
Troy is a trap game if there ever was one. We need to celebrate this one today and tomorrow, but better be ready to strap it on come Monday.

Dawgingatorville,
Come on now. The Lizards have 7 SEC titles not 8. They had that first one taken away from them for cheating. And they have appeared in the SEC title game once since 2000.
Gator fans always remind us that they don’t care about history and the Dawgs overall lead in the series. Of course we are now 2-2 over the past 4 years. We know they don’t like Geography either based on Channing Crowder’s comments earlier this week about being unaware that the folks in London spoke English. Guess that leaves readin and rithmatic.

Stafford<3 Balls,
What are you talking about? The logo stomp was disrespectful toward Vandy and I fully supported Coach Richt’s position on that. Completely different than celebrating a first touchdown of the game. The Georgia players were celebrating and they took the penalty that comes with it. Velasco’s penalty and MoMass’s penalty later were deserved and were overboard. Then we have Florida’s bigtime cheap shot on Stafford and you want to pontificate on classless actions? Give me a break. Georgia had Tebow in position all game to deliver a real cheap shot yet never once did.
For the Gators and Urban Meyer to talk about classless acts after their patheticly cheap act trying to freeze the Auburn kicker a couple of weeks ago by calling time out just as the ball is snapped is really scraping the bottom of the barrel. It was legal, but bush league big time.

Telling your team to celebrate after a touchdown to get them fired up is not a lack of class. Playing a felon after telling everyone you wouldn’t… IS!

Awesome win for the Dawgs, but those of you who are still supporting Willie Martinez were watching a different game. Anyone on this blog that really understands the game of football knows that Willie is a mediocre defensive coordinator - we have GREAT defensive players, poorly coached. We beat Florida today and now Willie is great?! That type of logical deduction proves your not serious, or you’re stupid. I would be much, much happier with Richt at the helm next year and a new defensive coordinator. And I know many Georgia fans feel the same way. He is a poison to this team.

Yeah Replay and apparently you could do better replacing two NFL Drafteed linemen and your entire LB corp plus your only returning starter at DB? The Dawg D just exceeded the entire year sack number given up by the FL line. (FYI that includes a D from some little school in Louisiana that is considered one of the best, if not the best D in the country). Some yards were given up and some tackles missed, no doubt, but if anyone of us truly believed that UGA could shut down UF then they were candidates for some Psyc help! Instead of throwing flames how bout some suggestions???!!! If your some da*n smart then who is the answer?????????????? Inquiring minds want to know???????

This is why you suck!-
The reason why you suck is because you are on the UGA blog criticizing the Dawgs without showing your face so to speak. Who do you root for? If you’re a Gator fan you suck because you lost to the Dawgs and because your putting down the Georgia victory by saying you have a bad team. Great fan. The only people who could possibly be talking now would be Tenn. or USC, and if you’re from one of those schools, the reason you suck is because you haven’t been watching your own team’s game. If you have no affiliation, you suck for getting on this blog just to bad mouth someone. And if you went to Tech, I don’t even have to bother telling you why you suck.

At first I thought the celebration after the first touchdown was a little goofy and I woulnd’t want to see something like that happen in another game but for this game against Florida I think something like this was absolutely necassary. For too many years I’ve watched the Georgia players go onto the field in Jacksonville acting like they hoped to just get out alive. “Please Gators take our money just don’t hurt us.” Today, they went out there and threw down the gauntlet. They finally woke up and realized they have just as much talent as Florida and they weren’t going to be afraid anymore. Now I just hope they keep it going for the rest of the year.

Finally, the Georgia-Florida game matters again! Even the rare times GA won this game had been a complete bore. The celebrations in the end zone. The 84 yard pass to MoMass.
And Knowshon is the friggin man! He is the spiritual successor to David Pollack UGA has been looking for the last 3 years.
By the way, the look on Meyer’s face during the celebration after the first td was one of the funniest things I’ve ever seen. He reminded me of Dean Wermer at the end of Animal House.

Knowshon Moreno is the man y’all! He’s a beast. I’m so thankful he’s on our team.
I got my wish I had hoped for, control the line of scrimmage. O/D-line played an exceptional game.

“Dawgs will lose” seemed to disappear about a third of the way into this blog. Wonder why?
Atlanta Gator…great class. It should be fun the next three years.
Tampa Gator….Tebow was hurt.Noted. UGA’s BROWN and Lumpkin Hurt and out. With them in the ground yardage could have been much worse. Oh and Shockley was hurt and out two years ago…doest that count.
Most Gators I know dont use youth and injuries as an excuse. Guess you are the exception.NOTE to AJC…get rid of Moore and put a damn spell checker or preview page on your blog!So we dont have to see idiots calling people out about spelling.Anyone and I mean anyone can make a spelling error on a blog with no preview page. Geez.
As for the move by Richt…it worked. If it had been Gators, Myer would have been called brillant. As for Terence Moore’s beloved Notre Dame, maybe Weiss should try the same thing and see if it works.
Great game. I hope it is something to build on for the rest of the season and next year as well.
As far as Martinez…the judgement gets delayed another couple of games. Because one decent/okay performance does not make a defensive mastermind(remember we gave up 30 points).
But in the end its great to be a Georgia Bulldog.
Go Dawgs. And to hell with Ga Tech.

War Eagle, it’s going to be another war again, I can already see it. We’ll definitely have our hands full with all those tailbacks you have back there. It’s going to decide between the lines. The physical team will win.
We must tackle the Trojans first though. They’re no slouch either. They’re number one in their conference thus far. Same thing, play physical on both sides of the ball and shut down their running game.

We’re driving back early and I thought I’d drop a linebefore heading to breakfast. How good was the game and how much upside does this team have ? I’d say very and a bunch.I worry that Knowshon could be over taxed though,33 is too many carries in my opinion but all’s well that ends well I suppose.I have to say that John Eason has improved his standing immeasurably in the last few games.I don’t know that there’s a unit in college football playing better than his boys right now.MoMass in particular has come on,he’s getting good seperation and catching anything in his ZIP code. There’s much more to cover but it’ll have to wait.I’ll post on the defense when I get home…later folks.

Congrats to the Bulldog nation for a great win from this 50 year GT fan. Great ploy by Richt for the celebration (though you can only use it once.) Great effort by Moreno and the OL.
It’s time to show class and not mock the Gators. They played hard too.

What a game! I have never seen a Mark Richt team come out and play with that much desire. That was what I needed to see from him at this point in the season. I was having serious porblems with the apparent direction of the program. Thank god I was wrong. My crow tastes great with a little gator tail fried with it.
The emotion and hunger shown by the coaching staff anf players was friggin AWESOME! Hats off to CMR,CWM,CMB and the rest of the staff. You had them fired up last night and boy did they do it!

It’s sad that we’ve had to resort to this type of move to beat Florida. Coach Richt’s strategy may have worked but it was a premeditated violation of both the written rules of football and the unwritten rules of sportsmanship that I fear will be the type of defining moment for our program that we could do without.

KnoSho great vision/instinct… great passion… runs with AUTHORITY. Has anybody noticed that we have more success running on the left side of the line? I think that’s our strongest side. I remember when Bama shut down our running to the left side and they forced us to run to the right side… for some reason there’s not much space on the right side. But the slip screens worked wonderfully.

Mixed messages. The celebrations shouldn’t distract from the win. The team got a pass from MR to get the penalty. He’s the coach. Only thing I’ve got on this to the opponents and proponents of the celebrations is…Who said something like, ” Act like you’ve been here before.”…
The Dawgs cam into JAX ready and had a great game. That’s what counts…

Dawg84,
I respect your opinion on this, but I don’t quite agree. Mark Richt knew his team would be penalized for excessive celebration for scoring the first touchdown. It was a celebration of a Georgia TD, and a calculated effort to show that the Dawgs were here to play the game aggressively.
Stomping on LOGO is absolutely disrespectful. Calling a time out an instant before the other team attempts to kick a field goal is legal, but bush league to the max. Finally, slamming a quarterback while he is kneeling on the ground and the whistle has blown if far more unsportsman like than a premeditated touchdown celebration that did not taunt the other team…except for Fernando Velasco’s effort.

I’m glad to see the Dawgs energized!!! Maybe the celebration was too much, but it did help light a fire in this young team! Remember, we have a freshman running back leading this team’s offense. I only wish we had been feeding the ball to Moreno all year. Mr. Moore, I think ajc must pay you for making enemies and creating controversy when it doesn’t exist. I’m not even sure you agree with your own Foolish column; it seems to me you just wanted to see how many negative “Letters to the Editor” you could collect from Dawg fans! Go DAWGS! Keep Celebrating!

Coutu deserves some credit for his tackling ability (throwing his body at the return man). Twice during good returns he jumped into the play and slowed down James long enough for the rest of the bulldog nation to catch up. Great to see a kicker act like a football player!!

No doubt Dawgs mauled us Gators…mission accomplished.
MR did pull a stunt what he used to do at FSU back in the 90’s…Yes, the loss hurt, however, celebration and rubbing it in…MR just made this rivalry an ugly one…No matter who wins next year, it will be ugly like what used to happen between UF and FSU with players getting ejected prior to the game…
MR could have asked his players to celebrate on the sideline..oh well, it did wonders and put a whup on florida..

Ironically, LSU, TN, UGA, and Auburn are now the only SEC teams feeling good about their situations.
Hard to forsee that after TN was stomped by FL and phil was back on the hot seat and UGA was stomped by TN and then needed a last minute fumble converted to a last 2nd field goal to beat Vandy.
The Gamecocks are losing to SEC East teams left and right (Spurrier is learnig the meaning of Karma) and went from the top 10 ranking and drivers seat in the SEC… to out of the picture and out of the top 20? How happy can the fans be with Spurrier losing to Vandy at home? Badly!
The Florida Felons have lost 3 of their last 4 games. Will this turn into a 4 or 5 loss season? After FL mauled TN, their fans never imagined a nightmare scenario in which a month later they would be last in the SEC.
Meyer’s defense is terrible and Harvin and Tebow’s incredible athleticism masks the predictable and vanilla nature of Florida’s offense. The other 40 offensive players are standing around watching the Tebow Harvin show and not developing… this is hurting the FL program badly.
Kentucky was having a dream season but they can’t seem to buy a win now. Hope they can beat TN and open the way for Georgia to compete for their 4th secg under Richt.
LSU still the top team, but either TN and Georgia can hang with them in the title game in Atlanta.
I think TN will lose an SEC game. Can UGA beat Auburn and Kentucky?

Mark Richt grew a pair yesterday and our young team grew up as well. The dawgs never Quit and must learn not to take a play off on defense and special teams. Dawgs beat a well coached team and now they gota stay focused but have fun with intensity. Troy, Auburn, Kentucky and even the bugs will be gunning after the dawgs ever so more. As for our coaches, they will have to keep this team motivated to avoid a letdown. Its a new season now and our guys are not young anymore they will need to keep getting better and better things will come our way. It’s truly great to be a bulldawg! I hope our Fans will be loud at the next three home games to show the naysayers that Sanford Stadium is a tough place to play just like in the late 70s and early 80s. We should all lose our voices in the next 4 weeks. I get so tired of hearing gamecocks and clemson tiger fans saying UGA fans are fickle and are not loud. Well lets showem no matter what! How ironic is it that the road to the SEC East Championship goes through Kentucky..? Regarding UT’s win over SC, the Fightin’ Chickens poured it on for 28:00 in the 2nd half and when victory was but an arm’s length away, imploded…or did UT’s D gut it out and reach deep in the clutch..? Amazing that our freshman PK out did their First Team All-Sec PK in the end…If this UT team wins the East, I’ll admit, it’ll be one of the weirdest things to fall off the Top of Rocky im many a-year…so much youth in key spots…Congrats on yours yesterday…

Knowshon is a foxhound with his nose of the endzone and first down marker, always surging an extra yard or two and dangling the ball out there just so.
The English Foxhound was created in Great Britain in the 1400’s as a fox hunting dog. These dogs were bred for their speed and ability to aid hunters when the sport became popular. Today, these dogs are mainly used as companion and guard dogs though they still maintian a high instict for chasing animals.
English Foxhound’s are an extremely active breed which need alot of entertaining or will become destructive. They have an endless amount of energy and seem to never tire regardless of the activity. The “working” lines of this dog are more energetic than the “pet” lines. These dogs are very obedient and loyal to their owners. They have the ability to bond to a family quickly. These friendly dogs who love to please. They can spend long periods of time practicing differnet commands without tiring or becoming bored. These dogs are known to be fond of children but are happiest when in the company of other dogs. They are also very vocal animals who can be good guard dogs. Their voice will alert the family whenever anyone or anything comes near the home.
Their cat-like feet help them run quickly after animals. They have very muscular thighs and large boned legs. Their short, sleek coat is easy to maintain and doesn’t allow stickers or other outside weeds to stick to it easily. The tail is always carried high in a friendly manner.
A generally healthy breed, these dogs have no known major health problems.
Due to the active nature of this breed, English Foxhounds are not suited for apartment life. These dogs need an immense amount of exercise daily therefore they do best in a home with a large yard. If possible, they are happiest when they have a canine companion to occupy thier time as well. Durable fencing is also a must with this breed becasue they have been known to chase after any strong scent that catches their nose LIKE THE ENDZONE!!

First, congrats dogs on the win. very well done. good dogs!! so happy for all of us in the dawg nation.
Second, we’ve been very close in a lot of the past games w/floriduh losing by 7 points or less. I wonder about many calls by the ref’s in yesterday’s game, as well as many calls in past games. of course, i’m a fan so i only remember a few we got away with but many more against us that were very questionable. many say you play thru bad calls, and great teams win regardless. however, if you have ever played football where you felt strongly you were playing against two teams (the opposing team and the refs) instead of one that does alter a player’s and, sometimes, the playcaller’s mindsets.
Third, a few posts ask what to do if some of us fans are unhappy about martinez’s defense. i say got to work on tackling, and stop that stupid 3 man rush which has resulted in many a first down w/15 or more yards to make! also, it has cost us touchdown drives by the opposition in the past two years. except for the boise state game, it never has served us well. look at va tech’s 3 man rush against bc this last week for a non-uga reference. that 3 man rush makes ok/average qb’s look great. don’t need to blitz every play but stop that 3 man rush!!!! i think those two things and martinez will do better in my mind.
fourth, i’m a first time blogger. please excuse any breach of protocol. love reading these blogs, but doubt any of this get’s to the coaches. So, probably just a waste of time, but it is fun.

I think at the press conference Richt said he wanted the celebration penalty, but that he clarified to his players that it wasn’t for an individual’s celebration, but a team celebration. He also said, though, that he probably should have clarified that he didn’t mean for the whole team to run on the field. In other words, he didn’t order them to run on the field. I think he just wanted to offense, when it scored, to celebrate out there. Regardless, I don’t think you can take a man like Richt and call him classless for one thing, even if you think maybe this wasn’t the best decision.

Having witnessed this game in person, I can tell you the celebration was the difference maker. The players, the fans were so fired up after that…it was pure genious. What you didn’t see on TV was the bench…the players were so fired up it was unbelievable. And the Ga fans drew from that emotion and were as loud as I have heard in a long time.

To Replay et al:
With a win over UF, CWM did much to restore my faith in the UGA defense yesterday. The boys were clearly fired up and I loved seeing Tebow getting sacked 6 times - they kept dumping him on that right shoulder. However, did they look porous and ineffective at times and I spent much of the game cursing them. Should CMR let Martinez go? After the UF game, I’m not too sure anymore. As of now, I’m officially off the “Fire Willie” bandwagon, and will reserve judgement until after the UK and AU games. Should the defense just not show up again (remember the Tennessee game), I may be back on that bandwagon.
Atlanta Gator - In reference to the “Rare Open Week” blog on Wednesday, you were right - the 2 UF alums I met were both in their late 20s and have no real recollection of anything other than dominance by UF.
AlabamaJack - So UGA lost the respect of the rest of the country for a 1st QTR celebration, eh? Who are you kidding? They sure as hell didn’t lose respect in the AP or Coaches Polls. At least Atlanta Gator is knowledgable and respectful - you’re just talking smack. Please go away.

I agree with the Gator fan earlier that the “stunt” will result in an “ugly” series between the two schools like FSU/Miami once was. Fine with me. When we we’re kicking UF’s butt in the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s it wasn’t because we had better players, it was because we were tougher and meaner than they were. They had a pro team in ‘85, bought and paid for, and we dismantled them 24-3.
UF plays a finesse game on O and their D practices against that finesse. The best way to counter that ‘girlie football’ is to punch them right in the mouth. That’s what Auburn and LSU and UGA have done to them.
UF will always have and always has had atheletes, but they’ve also always been soft. Remember the Nebraska game at the Fiesta Bowl?
If this game turns into a “who’s man enough” kind of series like FSU/Miami once was, I really like our chances because our style lends to it much more. If we try to show up like we have in the past (1990-2006) and just say who has the prettiest atheletes, we’ll continue to lose.
You guys are ‘pretty’ but we’re gonna start beating you ‘ugly.’
GO DAWGS!!!!!!
(Remember I said this: UF’s spread has been exposed. The SEC DC’s have the key. Its just a matter of time before Meyer is done at UF. Tebow will help them look decent while he’s there and healthy but he’s one of a kind and once he’s done: Bye, bye UF for a while. In the very near future, there will be UGA and Bama and then a lot of wannabe’s. Tub is walking while the gettin’s good, Miles is headed to Michigan, Fulmer is just barely hanging on, Meyer has been exposed, Spurrier is lost in Neverland, while Saban and Richt are putting together monster classes that are geared to playing a physical and consistent type of football. I see that young line getting more mature and then you add Caleb and Jackson into the mix next fall, with AJ going up top. Man, are the next few years gonna be fun!)

Where are these two bandwagon fans of the Florida Felons?
Jack, Richt is now 27-2 after an open date… how do you explain that success including yesterdays thumpin of the Felons? Is he just a great coach or are you wrong about open dates being important?
Steve, Georgia fans aren’t settling. Florida is in last place in the SEC East to start November. That is settling. You have made only 1 measley SECCG appearance since Spurrier left your program.

And stop bringing up the injuries. Last I checked, the gaytors got tourched by our THIRD STRING running back, Moreno. Yes, he would still be third on the depth chart if Lumpkin and Brown were healthy. A ton of our big time receivers are hurt as well. You had all yours. And we would have won in 2005 with Shockley. Almost did with our back up whom had a lot of heart but was not nearly as talented with the run or pass. So I really don’t want to hear it.
One more thing: If Edwards remembered how to catch a pass from Greene, you would have lost in 02’ as well. So don’t talk about luck either. That was as lucky as it gets.

The Gators have finally returned to their rightful and historic place in the SEC hierarchy: IRRELEVANT.
When I saw the team run onto the field, I almost cried. I knew they had finally come to play, they were tears of JOY. Three plays later when Florida scored, I said oh no, not again. And then 2 plays later Stafford to MoMass. and I knew it was the 1980’s again and we would not give up.
For the first time my ten year old son watched the game with me and he never doubted the Dawgs for a moment. His knowlege of the Dawgs centered around me reminiscing with him about “Belue to Scott”, “One Whole Week” and other great Georgia wins during my time in Athens and on the St Johns River. I guess it’s a new generation, as the players have said, unaware of the suffering the Bulldawg nation has known for 17 years.
As winners we get to rewrite the history books. So no more talk about 15 of the last 18 as Florida would have you believe. NO, for the next year it is 50/50 in the last four years with Georgia having a 10 game lead in the series history.
Thank you CMR, and ALL the players, it’s a game that will go into Georgia ‘Lore and hopefully be the catalyst for the next Bulldawg dynasty. And on Friday afternoon’s we will play Munson’s great calls and watch the video of Moreno’s TD and the bench empting and sing “Glory Glory to Ole’ Georgia!!!!

Ok, it’s as easy as this. Assume Georgia wins out. This week Kansas loses to Nebraska, Oregon loses to Ariz. State, Ohio State loses to Wisconsin. Next week Arkansas beats Tennessee, Louisville beats West Virginia, Arizona St. loses to UCLA Nov 17 BC loses at Clemson, Ohio State loses again to Michigan Nov 24 BC loses again to Miami FL.
That leaves the BCS as follows: 1-LSU 1 loss 2-Okla 1 loss 3-Georgia 2 loss 4-Michigan 2 loss 5-Va Tech 2 loss
Georgia beats LSU in SEC championshipo game..leaving them #2 in BCS playing Okla for natl championship.
Any questions?

I watched the interview with Knowshon Moreno after the game and I was totally impressed, not one “ya know”,and no third person personal reference. He came off as quite intelligent, and in todays world of self obsorbed athletes, it was very refreshing.

Richt has lost my respect. He was well respected by other SEC fans until the latest display of unsportsmanship and intentional rule breaking on the field. Conflict reveals character and a season of conflict and desperation has revealed Richt. Where is the class???

rivalry,
Gotcha my friend. I guess the Gators would not have been so “handicapped” had they had their usual bye week last week. At least Tebow was able to play, which is more than we got out of DJ two years ago. How does it feel to have lost two of the last 4? And both when you actually had to play the week before.
As for “awakening a sleeping giant”, I don’t think so. It appears that the Dawgs might better fit the bill of sleeping giant. Amazing how you can pull bush league plays like you did against the Auburn kicker and then talk about others being classless. Too funny my friend, too funny. Sure it was legal, but also the epitome of poor sportsmanship. Freezing the kicker is one thing, but Urban’s move was pretty pathetic. I suspect the NCAA will change this rule next year.
The Dawgs had one opportunity after another to put Tebow out for the season but there were no cheap shots on your very gutty QB. Contrast that to the big time cheap shot taken at Stafford.
And of course, the school that introduced Steve Spurrier to the world should be the last one around that talks about sportsmanship and/or classless behavior.

I’m not getting too carried away….yet.Last year’s Auburn game didn’t spell an end to adversity and I don’t expect this one will either. There were some things that could be breakthroughs though.Stafford not only threw two deep balls with accurracy and pretty good touch but MoMass and Mikey made first rate catches for tds.Kudos to coach Eason, I’ve been in the chorus calling for his head and I’m happy to say his guys are playing like champs now.The other new thing is the truly outstanding pressure on Tebow by the defensive line.Man,six sacks, more than UF had given up in all their other games combined. This team could well be better at every position next year. The ceiling looks really high for the next couple of seasons…maybe national championship high…….Slobberknocker….it won’t be this year…maybe next…pleasssse.

The diffrence in yesterdays game was simply the dawgs played to win. In the past they played not to lose thus playing to a teams level no matter who the opponent. The Dawgs were loose and had desire inwhich the team had a goal and didnt let up. Lets keep it going DAWGS!!!

For the record, the defense gave up 23 points. —-good point Tybee Dawg.
The defense was very smart for the most part. I was disappointed with the 1st quarter TD pass from Tebow…that ball should have been knocked down at least. Otherwise, great job!
I’m worried about the game with an explosive Troy team. The defense will have their hands full…they’ve got to avoid the let-down.

What a great game on both sides of the ball. Moreno is for real, I had flashbacks from the Hershel days, running North and South. Now, we know that Willie can play aggressive defense, so lets keep it up.
I am not a fan of showing up other teams, but CMR had to do something to get this team to wake up. I think he did it. Can’t wait until next week to see what they have up there sleeve.

DOGS TO BCS CHAMP GAME
14 easy steps described above.
The only question is how badly we beat Oklahoma.
Oh I forgot,
Tech loses 2 of the next 3 to go to 6-5. Dogs beat them 66-2. then they go to the Boise Bowl and lose to to Bowling Green 44-3. Chan Gailey signs a 10 yr extension.

Yeah ugaslobwhatever, I only play one game at a time. I want to win as many as we can, go to a bowl game, win it and hopefully finish in the top ten. I am old enough to remember the days when 8-3 was a great season. I feel when can win any game, Saturdays case in point. But I also believe that anyone can beat anyone on a Saturday, ask Michigan.
I just read the Terrance Moore column. It would have been real journalism if he had called Coach Richt to get his input on the celebration. T. Moore is not a journalist. Carter Strickland, who I have multi-fun with, runs rings around the guy. Terrance, retire while someone actually thinks you matter. Give me Chip and the Ignorant Slut, Mister Strickland, any day. They know how to put together a story. Terrance, you are just collecting a paycheck.

Dawgs to Citrus Bowl or something similar now. I think we can win any game, but the odds of us winning out are pretty large. Remember, it is Auburns turn to win. Kentucky and Tech are not going to lay down. The end of the season is going to be exciting. Do not put all in the win column just yet, lot of football to play.

I did a post last summer where I compared Moreno to Walter Payton.I also said I knew it seemed crazy and I didn’t mean he is as good as Walter was.My point was that he runs with a simular style and determination as sweetness did.I may have underrated him, seriously if he had breakaway speed he’d compare well with anybody…he may anyway.I was wrong about one thing I guess, having expressed the opinion that he shouldn’t be asked to carry the ball 30 times. After carrying it 33 plus 2 catches and many blocks he say’s he wasn’t tired and that he could have played another game.I’m reminded of Walker saying the ball ain’t heavy.I think we’ll remember little things about this guy in 25 years too.

I’m back home and man some of the stuff posted is funny. What has me worried is that CMR will revert to days of the past. Alabama Jack, 84whatever where do you show the credentials to talk about class? CMR did nothing but fire up his own team and it was beautiful. I hope we will put some body back there to help Moreno. Stafford? My gosh, he had 1, I say ONE pic, because he was being hit as he threw and the he hit 3, yes three TD passes ,long and short plus using the run and pass, he lead the team to 10-13 3rd down conversions and some people are nitpicking what he did? You gotta be kidding me. That was a major league performance. If some people say that CMR’s move will make this a bitter rivalry, Hot Dog, lets strap it own. Now it time for a Trojan Horse to be ridden to the ground. Congrats to the Gen and his Vols and War Eagle, I think we’ll have a grand ole time on Ag Hill.

That stunt will make this a bitter rivalry, man I had to get up off the floor. Somebody out there must be trying to be the next Jay Leno. I got news for all you newbies. It has always been a bitter rivalry. By winning the last two out of four, we have returned it to a rivalry.
Buck, glad for your safe return. Events far beyond my control kept me from going. I knew we would win with you attending. And I definately knew when the team ran out on the field after Knowshon’s first touchdown. If you could have seen the look on Suburban Creyer’s face, priceless. The team played with the fire and enthusiasm we have been looking to find. Stafford did a great job of controling the offence. Stellar performance by him and Knowshon. That pass to MoMass was a thing of beauty. And Mikey’s catch was unbelivable.
Gotta get ready for the Trojans. Anyone got a spare wooden horse we can borrow? Just like the Achaean’s, we are going to have to sack Troy.

Settle down people! Remember, we are UGA, and we are the poster child for winning a game we should’nt have, and then losing a game we should.
So, on to the biggest topic of the week, year, whatever. This celebration thing, I was not happy with it during the game, I thought the intent was good, but Florida would react to it by beating the snot out of us. I was wrong. As the days have passed, and I hear CMR say what he was thinking, I like it. People need to realize that CMR would never do anything to disrespect anyone else, it was a “calling out of ourselves” if you ask me. I have a question though, why do we have to do tricks or over the top antics to create enthusiasm? The coaching staff should be able to tap into that same feeling(or at least some part of that feeling) for other games, like Tennesse or SC. Okay, okay, we are young, yes, but let’s not forget, tapping into that youthful, unbridled emotion was great, and is a great motivator, but it has its yang to its yin. Being so young, you can go too high, and then go to low, so Bulldogs, I hope you realize that CMR is hoping to use this not only as a way to wake up to beat Florida, but as a guide to approach every game with emotion, heart, and you have to build on this or it will just sputter away!
Go Dawgs and I want to see a whooping on Troy, to get ready for UK!!

this was a game when everything came together.hats off to the special teams,to the defense, great blocking on the o line, and by the tight ends and sutherland.moreno had a great game, johnson did a good job of spelling moreno when he needed a blow, and caught a key pass.tripp had some great blocks, figgins had a key reception, great catch mikey,we finally took advantage of our wr speed.stafford was very effecient and managed the game well.one suggestion, don’t fake the reverse again, use it,if stafford had handed off to the wr on that play he would have had 30 yds of green grass ahead of him.this was no fluke,uf was beaten and tebow played a great game just to keep it close.he and stafford are going to have some real battles in the future.one day soon this game will decide the national championship!both teams are so good and so young!general, congrats on beating the obc,the look on spurriers face was priceless.atlanta gator and gtdc, your guys played hard and have nothing to be ashamed of,they left it all on the field.you cannot ask a team to do more.

Cuz, Terrence Moore bet the farm on that game and lost. That is why he is so bitter. Probably lost a ton of money Saturday so yes he is extremely upset. That’s the only way he would have written something so foolish. I mean idiotic. When an idiot calls you a fool you have to laugh.
Buck thanks for packing that W in suitcase before you left. Glad you had a great trip. And yes Stafford played and managed the game beautifully. I just think the INT was a bad play call from that position regardless of him getting hit or not.
IF we play like that the rest of the year and win out definitely a top 10 team. Based on the season so far I think we are a little high in the rankings.
Tennesee controls their destiny in the East. Both the KY and Arky games should be good. Heck even the Vandy game might get interesting for them. And you are welcome General. Did that help ease the pain a little from your loss.

Let me get this straight. The predominant reason that UGA had lost 15 of 17 was because UF had a bye and UGA did not. Who let that happen? Oh no, not the great Vince Dooley. What the hell was he thinking? I bet someone’s going to say that the schedule was made years in advance and nothing could be done about it. To let a bitter rival have that kind or advantage and to let your team and fans go through that. Shame Shame Shame

GO DAWGS!
By Bob

Jerry,
The AD alone does not decide who has what for a bye. Dooley did want a bye between Florida and Auburn because it was a brutal finish to the season with Tech thrown in there after Auburn. Of course when Dooley asked for this bye the Dawgs were whipping the Gators regularly. The Auburn series for the most part has been void of long streaks by either team.
This also has to be coordinated with the SEC since any bye usually impacts other SEC teams and or the availability of another non-conference team.
I do think the overwhelming proof is that bye weeks give the resting team a big break. I think the SEC needs to look closely at this and do what they can to balance it out. I agree with you that Georgia should have been raising this issue in spades to the Conference. There probably should be some sort of rotation on who gets what week off each year. That means Georgia not always getting a bye prior to the Auburn game too.
Georgia has no off date prior to the Gators for the future schedules through 2016. I do not know what the Florida schedule has for bye weeks.

Georgia Fans you act like this is some big deal like you haven’t won in years…wait.. You haven’t…..Now that you have won one. We will dominate you for the next decade.
I’m sure you will also find a way to screw it up..Mark Richt will go back to his old boring conservative play..Too bad he’s not consistent. If yall had more Peter Warricks, L. Coles, Snoop Minnis’s on the team maybe he would believe in yall and call plays like he did at Florida State. Afterall that is why you hired him???..I guarantee he will go back to his boring style of play once again. Mark this win on your calender it won’t happen often..Look at it. Everytime you have won its been for a reason. 97’: we won the national champship prior all starter gone..2002 (I think) we had Zook no explanation needed. This year Defense, and a hurt quarterback. There have been many years that Georgia was supposed to and should have beat us. what is your excuse??? Mediocre is all this program will ever be with a conservative coach like Richt. Gatorgal, It is nice that Florida is doing so well in football considering that you first started fielding a team in the early 1990’s. You must have been born around that time. Otherwise you would know that you now need 9 more years to catch up to us in the series. Thank you for providing us with the reasons why we won. The only reason we won this one is because we scored more points. Now take your 3 loss tail back to the swamp. Oh and BTW don’t run into that guy with the “deer in the headlights look” that would be your coach.

I hate to appear pessimistic but I am afraid Moreno won’t be able to carry the ball in the SEC championship game because we lost to Tennessee and the only possible stumbling blocks in their way are Kentucky and Vandy. They could lose either of those but not likely. That being said, I wouldn’t trade the Gator spanking Saturday for our winning the SEC East. Saturday’s game was very reminescent of our 2006 Auburn game and that put us on our way to a super finish last year.

If we need expert football input from a female we will call Rosie O’Donnall. I believe she played on the offensive line First of all, we don’t need expert football input from any supporter whose team has 3 losses with the season barely half over. Secondly, Ron Zook is a fine human being and currently has his team at 7-1. Maybe if you, BeeBo and Yurban can squeeze together another win or two you might get to play Zook’s Illinois team in a bowl(Not a big bowl mind you) If that happens my money is on Illinois. Vandy or Kentucky either one is more than capable of beating the Vols. I have to kinda feel that Arkansas will wind up beating them. The Dawgs row to hoe is possibly more difficult. Sidewalk fans say “show some fire CMR!!!” So what does Richt do just one game (Vandy) removed from saying “WE DON’T DO THAT HERE!!!!!”. You guessed it he lets his THUGS loose from the sidelines to dance on National TV. What a liar!!! and what a disgrace to UGA alums everywhere!!!!! Where is the class???? Where is the control??? Pure embarassment to the University of Georgia, sidewalk fans excluded.

Great win Dawgs! As for all of you Gator “sore loser” fans, we dominated this game on both sides of the ball. Take a big dose of reality, we won & we won big. Moreno is a force & Richt outcoached Meyer, it’s as simple as that. And as for the endzone celebration in the 1st quarter, I don’t feel it was intended to show disrespect but merely used as a momentum builder for the team. I hope that the team doesn’t lose this momentum because if we continue to play with such passion & determination, we will win out.

Sidewalk Fan:
Sounds like that victory really stung. Don’t look at the polls today because it shows UGA #10 and your team is looking up from a lower ranking or not ranked at all if you are a tech fan.
Richt is pure class. Takes a knee there at the end of the game when the victory is solidified (doesn’t run up the score like a lot of coaches). He told his team to celebrate as a team in the endzone when they scored their first touchdown. Says nothing but good things about his opponents, and doesn’t scream at his kids on the sideline (did you see that poor RB from FL get cussed out on national tv by Urban Meyer?)
Nothing to see here (there was no riot, just some celebrating, but if getting that out of you helps take away the pain of having UGA closing in on a fifth top 10 finish under Richt, A fourth SEC East title, and third SEC title title in his first seven years, then I guess that is OK.

Beginning of 2007: Meyer can now run his spread offense because he has the quarterback to do so. Opposing temas will be slaughtered. Florida has recruited a stellar group of wide receivers and no one can stand in the way of Florida.
8 games into 2007: 3 losses. Chris Leak looking better and better all the time. Is Ron Zook really 7-1? That’s okay because Urban Meyer promised after the last loss that Florida was going to come out smoking.

We have some VERY tough games left, but there isn’t any one team on the schedule that we can’t beat. Lets see what happens, but if we can take care of biz this weekend (this game has scared me since the pre-season as Troy is a very good team). If we get the W, we could easily move up to 7 or 8 based on the opponents of the teams ahead of us this Saturday!

Let’s all be clear on something here. He did say that they better get a penalty for celebrating after the first TD. His intention was for the offense to celebrate, not the entire team empty the sidelines! It got a little out of hand but he had good intentions with the idea. Regardless though it worked!!! Let’s not blow it out of proportion though people. Mark Richt has been a great example and in a business driven by egos he has remained humble. Great job Coach Richt. Let’s keep that fire burning this Saturday and FINISH THE DRILL!!!

This was a great win for the DAWGS! I am so glad to be proved wrong. But, our defense is still suspect and gave up 30 points to these gators. WM still has work to do and if he can improve this defense and bring us into the next season with a solid “Junk Yard Dawg” defense, then I’ll believe that he is the real deal. Great to see the emotion for a change, Richt really got the team up for this one. Keep it up and lets finish the season like last year!

ardawg,of course vandy and uk are capable of beating ut,anything is possible this year.heii, they may both beat ut,who knows?uga has as good a chance as anyone in the sec east of getting to the dome.i think having to get by auburn and uk makes our road a little more difficult, but nothing will be easy.sos will have blood in his eye when they meet the gators, vandy will play their hearts out to beat ut,nutt is trying to save his job,bama-lsu will be an upset special,bama-auburn will be a war, kentucky can beat anybody when they are clicking, this sec is crazy.there are too many good programs with good coaches and good athletes.we could even have a three loss team win the east this year, try figuring out all those tie breakers!

St. Aug dawg and St. Aug dawg ONLY - the modern era began in 1990. Thats about the time when the wishbone became extinct on the collegiate level. I love it when people like you say “what was Florida before 1990?”. My response is “What has UGAY been since 1990?”. Also if you look at the series you will see that UGAY gained its series advantage back in 1910’s to the early 1920’s. I do have to admit that UGAY was better than us in leather helmets. Just win 6 or 7 more in a row and I might believe that this is actually a rivalry.

what do I think about that? 1. UGA continues to be one of the most overated teams in the country 2. UGA and its fans continues to be one of the programs with the LEAST amount of class in the country 3. The SEC east is one of the Worst divisions in college football and a 3 loss team will be representing the division. It is not only pitiful but embarrasing as well.

Bob- huh??? UGA is one of the most overated teams in the country?? I would love to hear who you pull for! Please say Ohio St.!!! 2. I’m going to ignore because everyone thinks that about other teams fans. 3. SEC East is the worst division in college football?????? HUH??? Again, I would love to hear who you root for! Please be an ACC team!! Speaking of ACC teams and weakest divisions in college football………..

Bob - What are you smoking? If you are not on something, there is only one conclusion to be reached, to wit: You are an idiot. Otherwise, how could anyone who resides on this planet honestly believe that the SEC East is “one of the Worst divisions in college football?”
Maybe calling you an idiot is going too far. Maybe you’re just trying to be funny. You’re not.

Lost in a lot of this discussion is the fact that CMR felt he had to come up with something to light a fire under our team…to make sure they didn’t come out flat and get pushed back on our heels until we were down again and not able to come back. A caller asked the question on Richt’s call-in show Monday night about this. The coach’s answer was telling, if still subtle. The answer lies with the fans…the DogWalk…be in your seats, pumped-up and loud, before the kick-off - sooner if possible. Let the team know we’re there…let ‘em know we’re just as fired up about Troy as we would be with our biggest rival and an underdog. When was the last time you heard anybody talk about how loud the fans were in Sanford Stadium? When has any team be genuinely concerned about being ‘between the hedges’? It’s because we have over the years become a pretty laid-back bunch. Sure we can get loud when we score or when we’re ahead - so long as it’s not too far ahead - but the point is that the frenzied atmosphere that Richt felt he had to contrive at the beginning of the UF game ought to be a staple in Athens - or where-ever BullDogs travel. Will we do it? Doubt it, but it’s just that kind of enthusiasm that pumps up the team and keeps ‘em up…that makes it tough for a visiting team to believe they can execute and overcome and recruits on the sideline want to play for such an enthusiastic and appreciative crowd. Believe me, if you’ve ever been to a game in ‘The Swamp’ you know what noise is - of course they amplify it over loudspeakers, and we certainly won’t resort to that, but if we want to ensure no more lackadaisical starts like Tennessee, then be there for the guys right from the start.
Something that struck me watching the replay of the game on CSS where they made so much of the Florida fans vacating the stadium before the end of the game - what I’m hoping is that some Georgia fan offered to the retreating Gator, ‘Hey guys remember this feeling, because believe me, you never get used to it.’ I remember once at some game or another when we were down by two or three touchdowns with less than five minutes left, I asked my wife - who hadn’t really attended a lot of games with me, and no big losses - if she wanted to ‘make a run for it’ and get a head start back to the car? I’ll never forget her response, ‘Leave now? Why, because we’re losing? The players can’t leave, so why should we?’ God love her, she knew instinctively what it means to be a fan and I’ve never forgotten it.
