UGA blog finds new home

Morning all. As I’ve said a couple of times this week, we’re converting this blog over to a WordPress platform and it will be a permanent move the first of next week.

Those of you who are regulars probably know that I’m not what you’d call techno-wizard when it comes to these things. But from what I understand the technology offered in this new format should make the blogging and commenting experience better for all. Of course, I’ll be learning as we go along, too. But I’m hoping to provide more pictures and video and things like that which should bring the blog more to life.

Of course, this blog is nothing without all you guys so I want to heartily invite (read: beg) you to come over to the new site by CLICKING HERE ON THE NEW ADDRESS and save it in your browsers. As of Monday, Feb. 23rd, this will be the permanent home of the UGA blog you so love or, in the case of some of you, love to loathe. If you’d prefer to copy and paste or just memorize, the new address is: http://blogs.ajc.com/uga-sports-blog/.

See at the new place!

Milner takes leading role

With Leonard Pope gone, Mark Richt was looking for some leadership out of Martrez Milner this winter.

The coach said Milner has delivered.

The senior was singled out as one of the leaders during mat drills. While that could go a long way in helping solidify an offensive line that will need all the help it can get in protecting a young quarterback, Milner’s hands may be the one thing Georgia is going to need the most.

With only Mohammed Massaquoi as a proven threat at receiver, Milner could be worked more and more into the offense.

I don’t see any drop off at tight end. Milner was originally projected to start ahead of Pope , and now he is more experienced and mature. Also look forward to seeing how the Ward kid looks . Does anyone know which freshmen will be at spring practice?

If we are relying on Milner’s hands, we are in trouble before the first kickoff.

Well that would be an unbelievable surprise wouldn’t it? Are you saying the Georgia Bulldogs may start to use an offense that relies heavily on the use of tight ends? I never would have guessed that since they have only been doing that for something like the last 50 years.

Bradley G you miss the point. Milner is providing leadership to a team that will need it. With a new qb and new ol men they will need a vocal leader. Hopefully one of the RB’s will provide some leadership and encourage whichever qb wins the battle because they will need it.

Milner will prove to be one of the best TE in the country as well.

text to be linked

Bradley, the most simple way is to cut and paste the above line in your post. Then copy the link you want to use and paste it over the whole ajc address you see but make sure the address is still within the parenthesis. In the brackets that say [text to be link] paste any message you want to say. The main thing is the sets of brackets and parenthesis you see. They have to look just as they are when you are finished. In your post you accidently replaced one of the parenthesis with a bracket. If this doesn’t help,I’ll try to explain it further.

I’d love Milner to live up to the hype, but man, he does have a way of dropping balls at the most inopportune times. I’m glad to hear how well he’s doing in providing leadership. With 18 seniors from last year gone, the more guys who stand up, the better. We need Milner to provide a good example. And hopefully the added responsibility he is calling to himself lets him remain calm on the field, where he had some mental lapses last year.

Milner standing up and becoming a leader can only be a good thing for us.

ConyersDawg,

You make a good point about the leadership and experience that Milner will bring to the young guys but Bradley G has a good point too in that there were a few times last season where Milner looked like he hands made of stone.

Sorry Bradley, it did not let me cut and pasteas thought. It came out “text be linked”. Cut and pasted the last line at the bottom of the blog between the words Link: and =text to be linked. Or just make sure you use the two sets of brakets and parenthesis. Brakets first followed by address in parenthesis. There should be no space between the brackets and parenthesis.

Has anyone else noticed that it takes like five minutes for our posts to appear now. I guess they now want to read every post first and decided if they are going to let it be seen. Funny that an American newspaper should now lean so heavily on censorship.

I’m glad we’ve got Milner. That’s a far cry better than an inexperienced or true freshman TE. I hope the uncertainty at receiver will make the coaches really push the running game hard. That’ll help until receivers develop and QB is settled.

BTW, it looks like we have several likely looking freshmen at spring practice, and at positions where depth,(at least) would be a help.

I have to agree with big brother about Milner’s hands. you’re right for once, Bradley G. I think Milner is a great blocker and is well respected. The reason he was originally ahead of Pope is becuase Milner is great practice player and Pope plays well on Saturdays. Maybe we should consider playing some games on Tuesdays so that Milner can be all-SEC next year.

Milner has all the tools, he just needs to get his crap together.

74dog you are never going to get any real news on Dogs football in the AJC. They do some nice stories and cover the games fairly well but as far as day to day news on the football team, you’ll learn more from this blog than the sports pages.

If you are looking for daily news on Dogs football, you have to go to the Macon Telegraph’s Dog’s pages hereor OnlineAthens’ Dogbytes page here Josh Kendall at the Macon paper is the man when it comes to covering Dog’s football. He even has a Q&A section so if you have a question about Dog’s football and can’t find the answer, you can write in the question and he will answer you in the paper.

I’m happy to have Milner, didn’t he look good against BSU in the opener last year? Ran past a lot of their guys if I remember correctly.

Now that he’ll be the featured tight end and playing full time it will help his confidence. He’s going to have a great season barring an injury.

Amazing things happen to college players from year to year that don’t include the weight room or cardio or putting on a few pounds. Things happen between their ears as they get a little older and a litle wiser. We were in trouble as I remember at this time last year because we were losing all our leaders and DJ wasn’t going to be able to handle the starting QB position and, and, and

But certain players stepped forward and began to lead. Some of the better ones we didn’t even know they had any leadership skills at the time. It is the same every year. If Mark Richt does anything, he grooms leaders.

All we can do at this point is sit back at the moment and speculate on who they will be but one thing is for sure; under Mark Richt, they will be.

Amen, Geechee. I know most people like to remember Milner’s dropped passes, but I like to remember his TD in the Boise State game. He looked like he was flying. He was never really going to shine last year with all of the Pope hype. But he has obviously responded to challenge to lead. Here’s to hoping that he will respond on the field as well.

Dating back to 1997, Georgia is 87-26 (only FSU 89-25 and Texas 88-25 better in wins although Miami of Florida is 87-23), and Georgia has been ranked in the Final AP Polls 9 consecutive seasons along with just one other team, FSU. Tennessee is 85-28 for these last 9 years and 3 of the last 6 has not been ranked at all in the Final AP Poll. 44-9 for last year’s seniors is the most victories by a senior class in their time here in Georgia’s 114-year history. Georgia has the best won/lost record of all SEC teams over the last 4 years, 5, years, 6 years, 7 years, 8 years and 9 years. LSU was best last year, Auburn for the last 2 years, and LSU over the last 3 years. Georgia has averaged a # 5 Ranking (5.8 average ranking) over the last 5 years in recruiting according to both Rivals and Scout.com that make up our team this season, as seen on both of their WebPages, and none of these teams has averaged better than has Georgia in the Coach Richt Era with Rodney Garner Recruiting Coordinator.

There are teams with more players in the NFL than Georgia with our 42 NFL players who formerly played at Georgia. The NFL Combines, going on now, surely will add to the NFL rosters, and our strong senior class from last season will add to our growing number on NFL rosters. This past season, Hines Ward was Super Bowl MVP. This is the 4th Bulldog to win Most Valuable Player Award of the NFL Championship Game, joining Terrell Davis, Jake Scott, Hines Ward and Charley Trippi.

This is our 12th SEC Championship we just won, 2nd of the last 4, and while Coach Richt has 2 in 5 years, Phil Fulmer has 2 in 14 years – 3 times worse.

While Georgia is 44-9 since Steve Spurrier left the SEC supposedly to Phil Fulmer, LSU is 41-11, Auburn 39-12, Tennessee pedestrian 33-27, and Florida is 32-18. Alabama is 30-20.

Since Coach Richt accepted this gig here Wednesday night December 20th 2000 at 2 a.m. that night before retiring, and did not elect to tell Bobby Bowden for 6 days until Monday, Florida State University is 44-21 and Georgia 53-13. Jim Donnan got the first of those 53 wins and FSU has not been the same especially at Quarterback.

On a side note, Jim Donnan ended his career 40-19, but Tech is appealing the ruling that the 3 Tech “wins” have to be vacated. As far as cover-ups go, the AJC pulled a great one last week in announcing that mealy-mouthed Dave Braine is stepping down for health reasons, and not because The Georgia Institute of Technology has been put on Probation by the NCAA for the 2nd time ever, the first being in 1988 (See NCAA Major Infractions Database regarding men’s tennis and Tech’s NCAA Probation then.) Jeez, it is hard to get the AJC to be consistent on this point. However, if the 3 “wins” are vacated, Jim Donnan ends his career here, according to the NCAA 40-16, and Tech has not beaten Georgia in Football in 15 consecutive years. At this point, Georgia has beaten Tech, according to the NCAA Official Ruling last month, 12 consecutive seasons.

We lose the Grapevine today to history, and their Recruiting history and Recruiter’s Roster by Position and by Class, will be a huge loss to all Georgia Bulldog fans. I felt a need to point out that this article that appeared today totally left off for example many of those who we recruited who join us in the Fall, many of whom are counted upon at such positions as Free Safety Reshad Jones, linebackers Akeem Hebron, Akeem Dent, Darius Dewberry, Tight End NaDerris Ward, Running Back Knowshon Moreno, and Offensive Lineman Justin Anderson. I think we could all see all of these players get significant playing time and perhaps some start before the season is over such as Reshad Jones at Free Safety if CJ Byrd does not beat out Kelin Johnson at Free Safety and is left instead at backup Rover as discussed below. I am not in the least concerned about Tra Battle at Rover. If Kelin Johnson or some other Free Safety steps up big this season, we might make the SEC Championship Game for the 4th season of the last 5, go then 10-4 for 10 wins for the 5th consecutive season, and if not, 9-4. I would like to redshirt Knowshon Moreno, and in addition get a Redshirt year from one of our 3 Junior Running Backs, as Kregg Lumpkin is the only 1 of the 3 who has used his Redshirt year, and he has a clear case of 6th Year Eligibility in his request to the NCAA. A quick study of the running backs position by recruiting class at Grapevine makes this abundantly clear.

I also would like to see some new blood on all parts of the special teams return teams, as when you fumble 13 percent of your punt returns, you have a serious problem. And, it goes without saying that that is also true of kickoff returns, which we do not do well at either.

We are all excited about our new Quarterback this season, as Coach Richt has always gotten so much from his quarterbacks as evidenced by NCAA Record Holder David Greene 42-10 and DJ Shockley 28 Touchdowns last season of which his 24 Passing Touchdowns is also a Georgia All-Time Season Record.

It is obvious to me too that Georgia needs our Defensive Tackles to make tackles this season for a change.

After this season, we will have issues on the Offensive Line, as we do this season in the secondary, although we have plenty of talent at the corners. This season, we will be very good at all Offensive Positions. In the Defensive Secondary, we will be inexperienced, and that is never good for a team that doesn’t stop the run well, not tackling from our Defensive Tackle Position for years and years now. I am looking forward to seeing Brian Mimbs, our kicker of the future as well but backup Punter this season. We will be fine at kicker and punter obviously and finally replace our stalwart long snapper. Our strongest positions are Quarterbacks, Running Backs, Linebackers, Tight End again, Offensive Line this season (but not afterwards), and Defensive Ends, along with perhaps as burgeoning a group of speedy receivers as we have ever been blessed with.

Ok, so with that, then, here is the article, and again, I have issues with the Defense and the Special Teams this season, and not with the Offense.

What a frumpy interface we are forced to use in the AJC here where we cannot edit such as the vols are a pedestrian 33-17 to our own 44-9 since Steve Spurrier supposedly left the SEC to Phil Fulmer according to the AJC. Many days we are afforded no blog allowing any posts to it any longer at all. I should count my blessings today.

One would think that with 3 days before Spring Practice, and on a day mealy-mouthed Dave Braine, run out of town on a rail by Tech alumni, is sued by the Academic Adviser of Tech’s Football Team, that we would have more than just this blog about one of our 2 future All-America Tight Ends (NaDerris Ward) to post replies about.

Of course, the Georgia Institute of Technology, continues to cover up their Academic NCAA Probation in Football for the next Two (2) entire years, and has done so from the beginning with a strong helping hand from the AJC “sportswriters.”

If the sports editor of the AJC, Ronnie Ramos, whoever that is, thinks that he can tell the AM790 yesterday as he did that the AJC broke the story of Dave Braine stepping down and not AM790, then I would like to ask Ronnie Ramos, whoever he is that none of us have ever heard from, that Dave Braine is being run off by Georgia Tech alumni, fed up about this whole entire cover-up that both they and the AJC frankly act as if it never happened.

If you are going to break a story Ronnie Ramos about Dave Braine not being the Athletics Director, don’t just cover it up with your health reasons spin, when Tech alumni have handed mealy-mouthed Dave Braine his hat for saying Tech cannot consistently win 9 games a season and put the Georgia Institute of Technology on Probation for the 2nd time in Tech history. This is all too much for Tech to take, given that Georgia has won 10 games or more each of the last 4 seasons and not lost to Tech in 15 consecutive seasons according to the NCAA ruling last month.

Dave Braine had to be replaced as Tech AD for both of these reasons, and because Georgia Tech has failed to get monies from the Tech alumni to support this On Probation Football Team, never to win 9 games consistently in a season, recruiting in a state that finds only 3 states better for high school football recruits.

Their appeal is also a cover-up, as they continue to act like they did not know who was eligible and who wasn’t, when those were the very best players on those Georgia Tech teams, such as Joe Burns, Running Back. Georgia Tech, as we see here at this Link URL, was warned about this years before someone else blew the whistle on Tech to the NCAA who had to tell Georgia Tech themselves, only to say to Tech that Tech did not do a good job of coming clean when they did tell Tech.

Link: Georgia Tech Football Team Academic Adviser sues Dave Braine for COVER-UP of the whole sordid mess. Link: http://www.ajc.com/sports/content/sports/gatech/stories/0301techsuit.html

And, this is just more Cover-Up to announce now that Dave Braine is stepping down for health reasons, and not because Tech alumni are fed up with being on Probation for the next 2 years because of all of this cover-up of playing 11 ineligible football players for 6 years along with his mealy-mouth statement that Georgia Tech cannot consistently win 9 games in a season. What a load of hogwash Dave Braine continues to feed the AJC.

“After this season, we will have issues on the Offensive Line”

This may have been your best dissertation to date. Great research. This is however the second time you have stated the above about the offensive line. Why is it that you feel this way? Didn’t we sign 7-8 offensive linemen this past month? It seems to me, if anything, we will be stronger on the OL next year so I find it odd that you have said that and was wondering why. Spring practice starts this week my friend, can’t wait to see how it unfolds.

Well a point is a point. I say it a second time because of the statements by others in our blog outlet for discussion of what really is happening regarding Georgia Football, not found in the papers locally.

Repeatedly, responses have said that our OL is weak this season, or inexperienced. I disagree with that for this season.

Young Carter Strickland, sir, if you are going to discuss but 2 players on Georgia’s Football Team you are the “beat writer” for while everyone else at the AJC breaks the stories on college football as it relates to The BuLLdawgs, would you mind spelling our Future All-America Receiver’s name correctly sir ?

QUOTE : *While that could go a long way in helping solidify an offensive line that will need all the help it can get in protecting a young quarterback, Milner’s hands may be the one thing Georgia is going to need the most.

With only Mohammed Massaquoi as a proven threat at receiver*

His name is Mohamed Massaquoi, and Georgia’s receivers - even with Sean Bailey sidelined for the season - are the most talented bunch we have ever had.

Not that you would know that.

6’ 2” Mohamed Massaquoi SE….. 38-505/2
.

Sean Bailey FL…… 16-364/4
.

Martrez Milner TE… 14-291/2
.

6’ 3” Kenneth Harris SE… 11-216/1
.

Danny Ware TB……. 7-118/2 .

6’ 2” A.J. Bryant SE…… 5-84/2
.

6’ 1” Mario Raley SE…… 6-78/0

.

6’ 1” T.J. Gartrell FL…. 3-76/0

.

Thomas Brown TB….. 6-67/0
.

Brannan Southerland FB… 8-57/2
.

Kregg Lumpkin TB…. 5-12/0

.

Joe Tereshinski III QB.. 1-9/1
.

We added 6’ 5” Kris Durham with 4.5 speed from Calhoun, and his Dad Michael Durham was All-SEC Track star at Georgia. And of course, we added NaDerris Ward also 6’ 5” and he 240 lbs. to catch passes this season in recruiting. Remember that last month young Carter Strickland ?

Speedster Demiko Goodman at 6’ 2” is sidelined as well. But, this will just make us deeper at receiver when he can get back on the practice field.

6’ 2” Michael Moore was the Number 11 rated nationally wide receiver in last season’s recruiting for us, and just because we redshirted him last season, doesn’t mean we don’t have him either.

If there are teams better stocked at wide receiver than we are for this season, there would not be many.

I hardly think that Mohamed Massaquoi is the only receiver we have, even if you cannot spell his name correctly. Have you got a side job ? Don’t give it up.

Martrez Milner is a fine Tight End, and as everyone responded to you above, we do throw the football to our Tight Ends in this Offense, but Mohamed Massaquoi is not the only proven wide receiver we have.

Watch and learn young Carter Strickland, for this too, you will rue.

Mark Schlabach was not much-liked by BuLLdawg fans either, with his snide remarks about our players either.

Wonder how he feels at the Washington Post with our record since we ran him off from here ? Why don’t you read the comments on your blogs and learn what it is that BuLLdawg fans consider relevant news for that day related to Georgia Football ? Or, do you always have to put in your digs (no receivers) and (no offensive line) as subliminal parenthetical snide remarks, while continuing to demonstrate your abject knowledge of even the two players you do name. Surely, you will have no difficulty in the future spelling Mohamed Massaquoi’s name, right ?

“go a long way in helping solidify an offensive line that will need all the help it can get in protecting a young quarterback With only Mohammed Massaquoi as a proven threat at receiver”

Get a Life and quit catering to Tech fans.

Offensive Linemen is a numbers game; they get injured performing their duties and you need two solid players at every position and a back-up to them, dead minimum.

Offensive Linemen :

This Year’s Recruits, as True Freshmen, only one ready to play as I see it this season :

Justin Anderson Chris Davis Josh Davis Ben Harden John Miller Kevin Perez

Redshirt Freshman : Ian Smith (OC) NOT ENOUGH IN THIS CLASS.

Sophomore : Seth Watts (OG) REALLY BAD TO HAVE TWO CLASSES IN A ROW OF 1 EACH.

Juniors : Chester Adams (OG/OT) not yet redshirted Zeb McKinzey (OG) Fernando Velasco (OG)

Seniors : Daniel Inman (OT) Nick Jones (OC) never redshirted Ken Shackleford (OT) never redshirted Michael Turner (OT)

While the Senior Class is great with 4 Starters in it this season, after this season we have 3 Juniors, 1 Sophomore, and 1 Redshirt Freshman.

That ain’t good.

Not when I figure all OL recruits this season except for Justin Anderson must be redshirted this season, leaving us with issues of experience next year, not this year, on the OL.

Chris Davis is perhaps a TE at 250 lbs.

Josh Davis, Number 1 OL in state of Mississippi this year, at 6’ 6” 300 lbs. might be pressed into service to alleviate the glaring hole in OL recruits for the 2 classes ahead of him. At any case, that will still leave us without the type of senior leadership for a two year period that we have this coming year that gives me great hopes for this season on Offense.

Ben Harden 6’ 4” and 295 lbs. is also a future star as Justin Anderson and Josh Davis, and if both of the others are pressed into service for this season, we might be able to afford a redshirt for Ben Harden. Frankly, with the lack of depth behind the 4 Seniors this season, we may not be able to redshirt Ben Harden either.

OL is a hard position. You need size and strength, but you need experience more than anything. And, more than any other position, as I see it.

Football starts on both lines, and this is why Auburn will struggle this season. And, Georgia on Defense.

John Miller 6’ 6” 290 lbs. maybe could be redshirted this season because of the strong OL recruiting class this class is, not to be confused with either class ahead of this class.

See my point ?

Kevin Perez 6’ 4” 275 lbs. maybe also could be redshirted, but if it plays out like I suggest might be in our best interest, then what does that really leave of this class’ OL recruits when I have the best 3 figured for a back-up role to begin the season, which then removes them from this class and puts them in the class ahead of them with 1 OL in it. And, the one ahead of it with 1 in it.

It’s bad; trust me - but, not for this season. We have a solid OL for our new Quarterback unlike the snide dig by young Carter Strickland above, like he as some pompous AJC “sportswriter” knows that we will need all the help we can get this season “in helping solidify an offensive line that will need all the help it can get”

Our Offense will carry our team to what it does accomplish this season.

Our OL will be an issue next year, as our Defensive Tackle Positions remain this season as they have been each of the last several years.

Only it takes folks a long time to figure out when we really do have a problem at DT or OL because they do not go through the entire roster and see who leaves when.

I think back to Andy Landers’ statement about the twins leaving and him being asked then if he regrets that.

“No. I expect in college sports to have players for 4 or 5 years, have them graduate, and have new ones come in. I’m excited for our players that we have, and what they can accomplish in their careers here at Georgia.”

But, Andy Landers has no Forwards and only one Center this entire season. I try to stay ahead of that curve. Especially in the trenches, so pardon me for making my point now the 3rd time geechee, and thank you for asking me to clarify my position that we have an issue on the OL after this season, not this season as suggested in the nasty remarks of young Carter Strickland today about them and about our receivers, and we have an issue this year at Defensive Tackles as I said all last year and the year before and the year before that.

DT I had pegged right. We paid the price with the Number 52 Rushing Defense in the nation last season.

We will pay the price on the OL after this season.

You never recover from two classes in a row that have but 1 OL in each, just as you never do with Defensive Tackles remaining the same exact issue. This OL class is great. Remove them from it to make up for last year and the year before that getting but 1 each by burning their redshirt year and here is my theory on that :

If they are their best as Juniors and Seniors and that when they win their Awards, and instead you play them in their true freshman season as we are forced to do at both DT and OL this season, and then you have taken away an entire year of football from them that would have been their best year.

I’ll get off my soapbox, but still young Carter Strickland has not addressed this correctly at all that our OL needs all the help it can get this season and that we do not have any receivers.

Next year, he could say that about our OL; but, not this season.

And, next year of course, he will write that Georgia’s receivers this season were much better than the pundits (such as he) said they would be this season.

He’ll say the same about our OL this season.

Because he is wrong on both points, and cannot even spell correctly the name of the All-America Wide Receiver we have.

Thank you for the great discussion. I love your posts.

Basketball seems to be just like football, beat UGA while they are hobbled and very little else. Somebody tell me how the best team in the country cant even win the division, much less the conference.

Wow!!….did you miss anything?!…Let’s not get too highly strung, cause it’s only March! Injuries will be had and suspensions will (hopefully not) be dealt. We have a bit of a wait!

I think we are looking very solid going into the spring. I have one concern and that is our secondary. They will have to mature really fast. I think our depth is a concern but we will be fine. We have to give Stafford the nod. Thereshinski should be commended for his efforts last year. He’s a senior with no real football future. Let him take Stafford under his wing and learn the offense. Use Joe T. in the mentor role. We will not win with Joe T. under center as bad as it sounds. We need to develop Stafford now and take whatever lumps along the way. Milner needs to be more consistent period. “Gator the Dog Chaser”, I can’t understand what your talking about. The Gators blowing it in basketball? Go Dawgs!

Stafford will be redshirted. He won’t be the starting QB for a couple of years at least! Joe T (that’s Tereshinski) is going to be the opening day starter unless he is too injured to play. How long he stays in that position depends on a lot, but the job is his.

To be a leader at UGAY, does that mean that Milner has to be the first one to go into the bar, or show the younger players how to twist the arms of grad assistants so they drop the phone? Maybe he can show his teamates how to blow on a breathelizer so that it won’t register so high. Maybe he can show BuLLdawg how to keep his responses brief!

Brooks we all hope he is the next great one, but we “must” give Stafford the nod before even having his first official practice? We’d better leave that decision to the professional.

I’m not advocating JTIII, I just dont think you know we can’t win with him, or others. If he gets the nod, then obviously the staff would disagree. They WILL NOT be willing to take any lumps this year for the sake of looking ahead. You do that when you have no other options. Play a true freshman and hope he doesnt get hurt late in the season therefore wasting 2 years? I doubt it. Big time programs dont waste years looking ahead. Too uncertain. They will play to win in 2006, period. And then again in 2007. We might see a couple of different guys at QB. That being I think we all hope and want Stafford to really shine. He’d have to beat out the others and that would be saying something. Same goes for the other guys.

And yes, I think gator is realizing BillyBall didn’t change his reality.

Billy Ball won’t be going to the NIT, then again Felton’s boys might not be either. For different reasons of course. Hey just keep blaming Stegeman Colusium for your lack of success, and maybe one day the NIT selection committee might feel sorry for you let you in!

gator, tell me something, when does the UF student body vote on which student they will beat to death in Jax after UGA game. That is such a wierd ritual y’all have but I guess y’all felt the need to top the burning ritual in Morgantown. Let me know please because I would like to present my case that it should be you.

I’ve watched for the last 2 yrs. the no recruiting of OL and wondered when the “Chickens would come home to roost”? Times a coming. Milner will be a leader if he can catch the ball and only then. I must have missed something because noone has said a word about Cox at QB. Is he so lacking in talent that he’s out of the race for starter already? We better beat So. Carolina this year. Don’t let SOS get any kind of a head game going. It’s really nice to be able to red shirt freshmen but many schools play them from the get go because that understand that the man may go pro in 3 yrs. so use him while you can.

gator the difference is we are about where we thought we would be this basketball season, are the gators?

Oh and you might want to read the gainsville news before you talk about FB players. Were those assault rifles? I “heard’ they were.

how did that PR golf tourney go? you will have no idea what I am talking about.

nw, Id say we better beat Sc this year because they are on our schedule. Nothing more. SOS is just another opposing coach and he has no head games, just players. Were better than ours when he was at Fl, are not as good now. Its simply that.

You’d think if the AJC really had screeners they’d keep lizard-boy out of our blog. Isn’t there one student up in Gainsburg smart enough to set up a blog? I mean, if they could start the FireMeyer.com so quickly you’d think they could do something for frustrated students. Oh well, I guess we’re stuck with him; trailer’s boarded up, camero’s towed and the Winn Dixie just closed.

NW, a kids ability to jump to the NFL doesnt figure into redshirting or not. If they leave after junior year, thats still 3 yrs, redshirting didnt cut into that, just delayed. In fact prabably makes em more prepared if they do jump later.

When I was an all-star middle school QB the one thing which could end a good drive was a TE dropping a ball. Unless Milner fixes this problem I don’t see how he can be taken seriously as a team leader.

for the people wanting to give stafford the starting job at QB in 06’ and take our lumps.Should talk to some OK sooner fans about their no 1 rated QB in 04’.OKlahoma fans were disappointed when jason white was granted a sixth year of eligibility because they wanted Rhett Bomar to play as true freshman. I am sure now oklahoma fans are thankful jason white got his extra year, after seeing their superstar QB sruggle this year.It just takes time for everything to click upstairs for QBS.don’t rush your expectations on stafford,he may have the physical tools ,but richt will know when his time to lead will be.

I would like to see the NCAA granted a 5th year eligibility instead of redshirting. We can then afford to play some of these kids early.

I agreed with the DT position. Jefferey Owen and Ray Gant are under 300 lbs but, very agile. I think they’ll be more productive than Gerald Anderson(overweight, can’t move) and Golston. I can’t wait to see Kade Weston on the field. He ought to bulrush people to the backfield. We also have some young talents coming, rotating in.

Aloha Samoan, howzit brah, one thing I don’t get is why they are playing Weston behind Owen instead of trying him on the other side where he might get more playing time. The other side has got Gant backed up by Dixson. I guess they are keeping Weston on his natural side but it might be nice to see him switched with Dixson where he would get more reps maybe behind Gant.

Eh geechee, aloha brah.. you’re right about putting Weston on the other side. Besides, Dixon is too injury prone thus far. I’m sure Weston will get a lot of reps.

I met Weston this past summer. He’s a little kid in a man’s body. The kid is huge but, you can tell he’s got a lot of learning and schooling in the mental aspect of the game. I hope that’s not the case now and I hope he’ll prove me wrong this season.
