UGA blog finds new home
Morning all. As I’ve said a couple of times this week, we’re converting this blog over to a WordPress platform and it will be a permanent move the first of next week.
Those of you who are regulars probably know that I’m not what you’d call techno-wizard when it comes to these things. But from what I understand the technology offered in this new format should make the blogging and commenting experience better for all. Of course, I’ll be learning as we go along, too. But I’m hoping to provide more pictures and video and things like that which should bring the blog more to life.
Of course, this blog is nothing without all you guys so I want to heartily invite (read: beg) you to come over to the new site by CLICKING HERE ON THE NEW ADDRESS and save it in your browsers. As of Monday, Feb. 23rd, this will be the permanent home of the UGA blog you so love or, in the case of some of you, love to loathe. If you’d prefer to copy and paste or just memorize, the new address is: http://blogs.ajc.com/uga-sports-blog/.
See at the new place!

We’ve got spirits, yes we do!
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Ah, autumn in the South. Cool weather, the changing leaves, Thanksgiving draws near — a time when families come together to celebrate a sense of kinship and unity and…
Yeah, yeah, yeah. Whatever. It’s Cocktail Party time, y’all. Time for a different sort of communal outpouring.
Last year, 84,753 partied it up in Jax for the annual Georgia-Florida hookup, finding time somewhere in their busy tailgating schedules for, you know, that football game that happens during the weekend. And the above number is the official statistic for the folks who were counted as having bought or received tickets. Who knows how many party animals, Dawgs and Gators alike, were just there to soak up the atmosphere? Or something 80 proof, anyway.
And so, in the spirit of, well, getting in the spirit of The World’s Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party, we here at the AJC want to know how y’all get in the spirit for Georgia-Florida. Whether you hit the road and head on down, up or over to Jacksonville for the total tailgating experience or if you just tear off the tinfoil on a TV dinner while watching the game on the big screen in the comfort of your own living room, we’re sure you’re mixing it up with friends and we’re curious as to exactly what “it” is.
Share your favorite Cocktail Party cocktail recipes here so we can all cowboy up (or nightingale it) and get lashed to the past while reliving Belue-to-Scott in ‘80 or all those Evil Genius ’90s-era rompfests.

Uncle Drew,..you absolutely have to go! Good man! I also like your drink idea! You kinda hafta be careful with vodka. It can definitely sneak up on you , very quickly! Sky vodka also goes swimmingly with orange juice! Yeah, buddy! “Sky-drivers(screwdrivers)” will cause you to miss the game!…trust me!…I know from experience! I’ve gone to Jax 8 times for the event, and actually sat in my seat 6 times(passing out by halftime, twice)! Enjoy the game, guys!

If cool: Crown or bourbon with coke for color over good (not home freezer) ice. If hot: Pitcher of Tom Collins made with Bombay Sapphire, say Holland House Collins mix, soda for fizz and cherry juice for color, serve drink chiled and strained. Also it’s impossible to go wrong with an ice-cold Heineken any time of year and any sort of weather

I have invented the oober-cocktail that is perfect for events such as these. Start with a gallon of milk (pour out the milk). Add 1 or 2 Keystone lites. Season with a Busch lite tall boy. Depending on your preference, you can add a can or two of PBR, Southpaw, or Coors Light for flavor. This recipe serves one and will do you right! Of course, you can experiment on your own to find the best combination.

Start with 18-20 passing and then add 3 td’s by Joe Tereshinski and top off by not allowing the Gators more than 100 yards rushing and you have the perfect mix for a BULLDOGS, victory!

Get two 12 packs of Bud light, put 23 on ice in cooler. Open one Bud, drain. Start smoker, get Bud, drain. Get slab of ribs, season to pefection. Crack open another Bud, drain. Put ribs on smoker, open Bud, drain. Get chicken quarters, season to perfection again. Open two Buds, drain one, use half other to season chicken, drink the rest. Go make potato salad, whoops forgot the Bud, go back to the cooler, grab Bud, drain. Check ribs periodically and daub with homemade sauce each time draining Bud for luck and because I want to. Just before game, realize beer is getting low, have 17 year old daughter drive old man to Food Lion, buy another case of Bud light. Put in cooler, bring small cooler and food in dining room with view of big screen. Set up surround sound with Munson. Eat, drink and love Larry.
Can’t make game because of small child’s, nine year old fall school carnival. Before anybody rags me on priorities, she had surgery this year before school started and has not been able to attend school yet. She misses her friends and I would be less a Dawg if I did not take her. Maybe next year in Jax. Fortunately the carnival is in the morning.
All you guys going to Jax, stay safe and GO DAWGS!!

10 oz. Barton’s Vodka (it’s cheap, but if you want to sound fancy you can pronounce it “Bar-tones”). 6 oz. Soda or Sprite. Mix well. Accidentally spill some beer in your vodka drink. Realize that it don’t taste too bad. Pour in the rest of the beer. Voila! You have now made “Band Party Drink”.

In a large cooler with a spicket, add 1 case of your favorite cold beer (Yes - 24 beers), 1.5L of your favorite vodka, 2 containers of Country Time Pink Lemonade Mix, one bag of ice, and stir well. It sounds weird and crazy, but is sooo good! Can be enjoyed as a yummy drink or as an “occasional” shot!!

No true Bulldawg should ever drink anything with Orange Juice in it on the day of the Ga/Fla game. That borders on treason!!!
My buddies and I used to grill up some Gator Tail (for real) as a preparation, however… what you drink matters less, as long as it is alcoholic and not the wrong color.

Used to? I guess the girls’ mothers got fed up with them coming home with grill marks on their butts.

Brad,…”No true Bulldawg should ever drink anything with Orange Juice in it on the day of the Ga/Fla game. That borders on treason!”..Okay, I never even considered the color of my drinks, just the time of day it’s being consumed! Every year I go, we start around 9am. I drink oj in the morning, so adding vodka to it just seemed like a great idea!..How much red dye should I add next year, when I go?

Dawgeater, why do you keep jumping around, these are old blogs, nobody really gets to see your wit. What do Dawg bones taste like anyway? I mean, you see them hanging in those pictures of Korean butcher shops and we hear rumors living out hear in the islands but I’ve never really talked with anyone who claims to have eaten dog meat.
