Farewell to the Delta Queen?
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
The Delta Queen may retire after it’s 2008 season because of federal regulations that declare ships with a wooden superstructure unsafe for overnight passengers. The Queen has been granted exemptions from the 1966 law up til now, but looks like another one won’t be issued.
What do you think? Should the historic paddleboat be given another exemption or do you think it’s unsafe to operate it on overnight excursions? Have you ever cruised the Mississippi River on the Delta Queen? What was the highlight of the trip? Will you be booking a cruise for the Queen’s last season?

As a former resident of Cincinnati, I know it is a part of the city’s history. It would be a shame to see a piece of Americana go away…

Beautiful ship! See no reason to take it out of service because of some dumb law passed by an even dumber congress!

Tom Stewart nailed it perfectly. The idiots are throwing away America. First they put corn syrup in our Cokes, and now they want to do away with the Delta Queen. In my home town some jerk hired the fire department to burn down a historic home where local writers, Babs and Borden Deal, wrote novels.Bye-bye Miss American Pie.
