Tying the knot?
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Destination weddings are nothing new — cruise lines and mega-resorts such as Sandals have been offering them for years, with great success. Smaller, more exclusive properties now are promoting weddings, as well.
An event at the Four Seasons Hotel in Atlanta on Sunday, Feb. 18, 2-4:30 p.m., will showcase some of those inns and resorts, plus offer information on how to plan a destination wedding. You’ll also see an Island Fashion Show with designer dresses. Information is at www.destinationweddingstudio.com; cost is $15 until Friday, when the fee goes up to $35. A portion of the entry fee goes to Brides Against Breast Cancer.
Did you have a destination wedding or attend one for a friend? Do you have any recommendations for a couple contemplating such an event? What was the best thing about it, and the worst?
A friend of mine got invited to a wedding for a relative aboard a cruise ship in the Mediterranean a year ago and the whole family excitedly made plans. Later, the bride and groom called it off, but the family went anyway and had a fabulous time.

My hubby and I had a destination wedding in July 2005 at Beaches in Negril, Jamaica. I have to say it was the most fun and relaxing time I have ever had on vacation. The resort, weather, and all amenities were wonderful. We anticipated children attending (which they did not), which is why we had our wedding at a family oriented resort. If we were to do it again, we would have it at an adult all inclusive resort. All in all, we had a very good experience and would do it again in a heartbeat.

Hi DBT
From what I’ve read about how much the resorts help you plan the event, it probably was a much more easy experience than the one we had planning our small wedding for about 50. If I had it to do over again, I think I’d consider a destination — and a warm and sunny one, at that.
