What do you think of Wayne Hill’s return to politics?

Former Gwinnett Commission Chairman Wayne Hill is getting back into politics.

Hill, who has been blamed by some and praised by others for Gwinnett County’s booming growth, will run for state House District 98. The district covers the north Gwinnett communities of Sugar Hill, Suwanee and Buford.

Hill, 63, served three terms as Gwinnett chairman from 1993 through 2004.

What do you think of Hill’s return to politics? What kind of representative do you think he’ll be? What should be the major concerns of the representative from Dist. 98?

I don’t like it at all. As a matter of fact I think that when Mr. Hill dies I am going to put a zoning notice on his tombstone to rezone from 1 person per plot to 4. Stand em on end and you can ge more people in less space. Think of the money that could be made and increasing the tax value at the same time. I hope to one day move out of Gwinnett, It used to be great until Wayne said to mow it down and develop. Many of the “devolped” parts of the county look like undeveloped nation. Thanks for nothing Wayne.

Hang on to your trees folks! Robman that is a good one and so true. I would not put Wayne Hill in any kind of office on any level. I voted to get him out of the county level. I am surprised he did not open a tree shreading for mulch business considering how many he had a hand in cutting down in Gwinnett but I must say we need to watch Charles Bannister too he may not turn out to be any better…

I am sick to death of the people that use politics as a life long profession. They get elected, find it’s an easy way to make a buck, and never want to get out, and when pushed out, always try a come back to easy street. I say to Wayne Hill, as I say to Ted Kennedy, and hundreds of other political Pros, give it up. You served and we don’t want you anymore………..Bye, bye.

NO and Hill NO! I personally worked hard to “Boot Hill” and I have no intention of seeing him unseat a sitting Republican. There are too many good representatives on the Gwinnett Delegation to saddle them with Wayne Hill’s dictatorial and paternalistic style.

I wish people would quit whining about Wayne Hill already.

The “activists” seem to all believe that a single stroke from Wayne’s mighty pen could have stopped all development immediately after that particular activist moved into Gwinnett County.

With the limited powers that local government has over what private individuals do with private property, the best any County Chairman can hope to do is nudge development in the right direction and try to keep pace with the private sector.

Frankly, there is something to be said for the fact that people wouldn’t keep moving to Gwinnett County if it were as bad as the Keslers and Griggs’s of the world say it is.

Don’t like it? Move back where you came from!

Wayne is running not because the incumbent is doing anything bad, but because he needs a job. That is a bad reason if I ever heard one. Wayne needs to retire for good or do some volunteer work.

“NO, NO, NO NOT AGAIN” Have the people of Gwinnett not had enough of Wayne Hill. Why do you think so many people moved to Gwinnett? He cleared natural habitat to build for people to move to Gwinnett. I have lived here for almost 30 years. I really enjoyed it when I moved here, but after Wayne Hill got into office, it went down “HILL”. Has the man not made enough money off of the people? In a previous comment by someone, you can only do what the other representatives will allow. Money talks. It has been proven in the past. I have worked close with other zoning issues, if you have enough money you can get things approved. Moving from Gwinnett as soon as I can.

Rep. Reece is doing a fine job as our State Rep. Wayne mismanaged the budget as Chairman. Let’s keep Reece.

OK. I am going to move back to where I came from. Lawrenceville to Norcross. Do I still have the right to criticise Wayne? And another thing, BerkmarGrad, The constant rezoning from single to multiple residence could have been stopped, thats is what the elected officials are for.

Fellow Gwinnett friends and neighbors, please keep this professional politician out. He had his chance and served a long time. Unlike some I would say he did some good initially, but as he stayed longer he was the type of person who seemed power hungry.

He is not the only one though. Look at the U.S. Senate. Kennedy, Byrd and Thurmond (a 100 years old in the senate), come on! This could apply to other offices as well. Term limits are not a bad idea.

I believe in fixing Gwinnett rather than abandoning it, and “Booting Hill” was a great step in achieving this. Over his last two terms that I repeatedly directly attempted to contact him, neither he nor his henchmen would ever so much as give my group the time of day. He was an arrogant self-serving leader with all the vision of my house cat. Hopefully other voters will see that, and in the meantime, we’re grateful that this cancer has been removed.
