LaVallee excited to be back
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Jordan LaVallee went through his first practice today as an Atlanta Thrashers player since preseason camp. He’s psyched to be back. His role:
“They want me to play a big man’s game,” he said. “They want me to go out there and be physical, be first on the puck, take the man every chance I get.”
LaVallee, 6-3, 220, expected to have a chance to make the team in training camp and was disappointed when that didn’t happen and he had to start the season in Chicago, where he already had played two seasons.
“It took me a little while to bounce back from it,” he said. “Mentally I felt like I turned it around after the All-Star break.”
He practiced on the fourth line Friday alongside Eric Boulton, Eric Perrin and Chris Thorburn. Coach John Anderson said he will play some but not necessarily all of the games on the upcoming four-game trip out west — Anaheim, LA, Phoenix, San Jose.
Jim Slater (shoulder) is not traveling with the team, Anderson said.

Like all Chicago Wolves callups, he will be an obvious improvement over several current Thrashers who appear to have roster spots because they have 1 way contracts and DW is unable to move them and unwilling to waive them.

I like this move. This kid looked good when he was up here last year, and he DOES bring physicality, which we lack (go figure).
Mike—Was anybody sent down to make room for him?

I like this guy, he’s not blessed with anything beyond his size, but he just seems to be there. If you’ve listened to a Wolves play-by-play feed, you hear his name a lot. I think we need more guys that “get in there and let ‘em know yer out there”. That’s the main thing I miss about Dupuis-a guy that hustles to the play, not just gliding in and out of things.

Lavallee is a fine 3rd or 4th line wing. It’s not going to spark anything major with the team, but it’ll show exactly how acclimated he can become to the NHL game.
Honestly, with wingers like Crabb, Stuart, Lavallee, and centers like Slater, this team can be successful with those lower lines…the problem is and always will be the top two lines, which could use another infusion of talented youth to become better (a top RW/C wouldn’t hurt either, obviously).

For the rest of the season we will continue to see the revolving door between Wolves and Thrashers. I suppose it is to see who is what and if they should stay or go…

Sisu-Yeah I’ve got to believe that it’s all about who’s shoppable, who’s a wash and who’s a keeper

Wonderful, this is what we need (a big body who will stand up for teammates and play with an edge, see Kaleta (sabres)), I just can’t wait to see him in the press box so we “can show off” our tradables. AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. What an f ing circus we have going on here. Nice work don. FIRE DW.
