Happy New Year to Moose
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Johan Hedberg starts tonight for the first time since Dec. 30. He’s 1-0-1 against the Maple Leafs this season, so it makes sense with a game tomorrow at Nashville that the Thrashers went with Hedberg instead of Kari Lehtonen tonight.
Joey Crabb is the healthy scratch among the forwards, with Nathan Oystrick scratched again on defense. Crabb’s absence is likely to mean penalty kill time for Colby Armstrong.
Todd White, who missed practice on Thursday, is good to go tonight.
John Anderson liked the play of Erik Christensen and Chris Thorburn the other night. It will be interesting to see whether he puts Eric Boulton with them and moves Eric Perrin to another line.

I have a good feeling about this one…I have tossed salt over my right shoulder. Petted my lucky rabitt’s foot. I have a horseshoe in my arse (very uncomfortable by the way…the things I do for this team) and rubbed a buddah’s belly while holdiing my four leaf clover. I think we will be good…

Move Perrin to a Wolves line or to someone else’s line. He flies around the ice, seldom checks anyone and is so easy to bounce off the puck. What gives with Schneider playing and Oystrick sitting? Let’s hope that DW is showcasing the “old boy” with emphasis on “old”. His wheels ain’t what they used to be. Prediction tonight- Leafs-5, Deadwood- 2.

Hi Mike. Hope Moose has a good outing. Want to pass some info on to you. Old time Atlanta hockey fans might want to check out two HubPages. One is on the Atlanta Knights and one is on the Atlanta Flames. The Knight page is enhanced by numerous Manon Rheaume photos. Many of us remember this female goaltender fondly. Phil Myre and Pat Quinn are on the Flame page. Both logos put current one to shame. There are also pages on Keith Brooking and Kari Letemin (Lehtonen) which as far less complimentary. No Atlanta Thrasher page as of yet. Thought you might like to rekindle some pleasant Atlanta hockey memories. Thanks for listening. Pull the guys through tonight. God bless.

I think the biggest reason to play Schneider is to pair him with ZBo while he is still here. For sure it is looking like the trade deadline will have this team as sellers. There has been talk about this being Havelid’s last season in the NHL (via Sweden) so he could be moved as well to provide him with an opportunity to play in the playoffs.
Let’s hope for a good effort tonight and see where the rest of the season takes this team (closer to Tavares it looks like)
By the way to call Boris Doris is not really fair, he usually never baks down and there was an opinion he may not be 100%. keep in mind that dmen take a while to develop.

Moose Lehtonen is as porous as Swiss cheese tonight. Trio of Letemin-like whiff jobs in 40 minutes. Way to keep that damn team GAA sky high guy! You saucing it up too big fellow? Toiletlids look completely uninspired. Resemble and have aroma of shet. Nauseating. Another big debacle in Loseland. Know the true paying fans (all two of them) are overjoyed. How can anyone accept payment for this bullshet? For this? To Hell with the whole mother (X) organization!

Kari Letemin did not allow a goal for 20 plus minutes. Impressive. Ilya Kovalchuk net two goals. Impressive. Group won in overtime. Impressive. On home ice. Even more impressive. Congratulations all around. Hey John Petrino. Moose allows three goals then is yanked? Letemin matadors seven goals in without a move of any kind up to that point. What the Hell is up with that? Whadda ya mean a certain someone was not sober enough to play until third period. Say no more. I understand. Good night everyone.

Great comeback Thrashers! I was watching from Toronto tonight and I was wondering why the Atlanta fans kept booing when a Toronto defensemen would step into an attacking Atlanta forward and separate him from the puck. It’s as if everyone in the half-empty arena didn’t understand the basic concepts of the sport they were cheering/booing. What’s the deal y’all?

This game is going to rank, with “Opening Night” vs. the Capitals and the shutout win against the Devils, as the best games of the season. Normally, when the Thrashers overcome a 3-goal deficit to win, the other team fires its coach, GM, or begins demoting players, subjecting them to waiver claims. But, as these the “rebuilding” Leafs, with Wilson and Burke freshly arrived on the scene, I think they’ve got “pink slip” immunity.

Tyler I was in the arena of 15,000 very happy fans tonight who only booed when the Thrashers left the first period 3-0. Believe it or not, we do love and understand our hockey in Atlanta. We just want a winning team. Tonight was a great come back effort.

It’s just one game, but there was some great chemistry there between Kovalchuk and Peverley.
By the way, Peverley set a career high for minutes played for the second consecutive game. This time, it was 20:28. Last time, it was just short of 19 minutes. He’s the one who filled Crabb’s place on the penalty kill, as well.

Ilya took 10 shots and got eight of them on net. When he does that, this team looks good offensively.

Tyler - I was in attendance tonight, and the only booing that occurred was at the end of the first period.
Wonderful effort in the second and third, but I have to question where the boys in blue were in the first. It didn’t look like they were on the ice. Were they in the dressing room?
Good job on the comeback, Thrashers! Now to pull out a win in Nashville. Maybe show some of the Nashville fans I’ve spoken to that Peverley is worth more than they thought.

Are you sure the Boos you heard weren’t the MOOSE calls for Hedberg?
The best thing about the Peverley and Kovy goals were they were EXACTLY the kind of goals they need to be scoring… they weren’t sloppy… they weren’t lucky… it was two guys on the same wave length, at the right place at the right time, doing the right thing with the puck.
Stroz… I think I canceled out Buzz’s jinx by sitting in my lucky Sec. 108… I haven’t sat there since the 06-07 Playoff season. :)

Sat with my bride of 20 years through an awful first period. Last two minutes of it were pure hell. She looked at me and said that there were several good movies in the theaters. Convinced her to stay and watched as the pace quickened more and more in the 2nd. Thrash started quick with Kovy’s first goal of the game on a nice feed from Peverly. Kept the pressure on and had perhaps the most dominant period in 9 years of hockey: 17 shots to 3. Several good chances, and of course Little’ turnaround netter. My daughter, sitting in other seats, texted me “NOW THAT’S HOW U PLAY HOCKEY” (a text that I’ll keep forever, gotta love that girl and her passion for hockey).
Continued strong play in the third with a FABULOUS feed from Peverly to Kovy skating behind Toskala but not around the net and sliding the puck into the crease for a wide-open Kovy shot. Thought they were going to play for just the one point, and they sort of eased up for a minute, but then put more pressure on to end the third.
Came out skating hard in the OT and did not allow the ‘buds a single shot in OT. Peverly’s positioning for the game-winner was fabulous. This kid has speed, the desire to play with Kovy, good sense on where to be. Such an improvement over Jason Williams’ coasting along.
Gotta admit I held my breath when the Fragile Finn took over for Moose, but he played well on the mere nine or so shots he faced in 2 periods and 4 minutes of overtime (where’s that effort from the team every game?).
Go Thrash! Beat dem Preds tonight.

It’s 5-0 in favor of Atlanta, with 17:00 left in the 2nd period. Has Peverley so changed the chemistry of this team??? Dan Ellis has been chased from the net, for Nashville. Peverley has two (2) assists. Bryan Little has scored. I think Perrin scored. Even Matthieu Schneider has scored. Kovy got a breakaway goal. It’s all coming up Thrashers white tonight. (It is a road game.)
