Reasoner to play tonight

You can still see where the puck hit on the back of Thrashers center Marty Reasoner’s right hand, about midway between the wrist and the knuckle of his pointing finger. But that injury won’t keep him from playing tonight against Toronto, Reasoner said. He credited trainer Tommy Alva and assistant trainer Step Roberts with helping reduce the soreness enough to get him back on the ice.

That leaves the Thrashers’ lineup unchanged from the one that beat Tampa Bay on Saturday night.

Toronto is expected to start goalie Justin Pogge, who will be making his NHL debut.

Ilya Kovalchuk’s next point will be the 500th of his career. He’s averaging a hair over a point a game; this is his 499th in the NHL.

Wonderful, a first time goalie. This team has always struggled against unknown goalies:(

Great news on reasoner!

Good to hear Marty is going to be alright to play tonite. I think he is the best option we have at center right now. Does anyone else relish the idea of Joey Crabb moving up to play RW with Kovy and Marty? That could be an interesting line as Crabb has the hustle and determination of Thorburn with better speed and hands.

Don’tcha just love it when the Leafs are on the schedule? Toronto fans actually think we’re the biggest goons in the league. Hmmn. Maybe, if we played Toronto 82-games a season, that might be true.

Crabb has been good, as was Stuart in his brief stay. Now is that a reflection on some of the regulars we have on the team….

Hopefully I get to see Ilya’s #500 tonight, along with a chippy game with cheapshots and paybacks.

Pogge’s numbers have been mediocre in the AHL. He has been highly touted in the Leafs org, let’s see if he plays better in the NHL.

Since the Falcons are in the playoffs I really do not give a damn about What’s-His-Name and the untalented Toiletlids who will next make the playoffs in 2011 but…A PROJECTION! The Thrasher netminder will allow a minimum of four goals with two coming in the first period. One extremely early! That is it for now. GO SAINTS!

I love the guy but the T’ronto annoucers were absolutely correct that Ilya was responsible for the 3rd goal and he is even worse this period on defense.

Outshot 38-20 and that is with Toronto protecting the lead in the 3rd period.

What happened to the grit that Anderson asked for, this was more like lip service.

82 times a year we ask our boys to step up. 2 and a half hours. For that they get at worst a half million dollars.

HOW IN THE HELL CAN THEY EXPECT US TO PAY OUR HARD EARNED DOLLARS TO SEE THEM WHEN THESE BOYS WILL NOT STEP UP AND DO THEIR JOB!!!

We are not asking for alot. Maximum effort for 2,5 hours 82 times a year. But to show up and mail it in is embarrassing.

You figure the average worker puts in 2,000 hours a year working for 30-50 thousand dollars.

These guys are on the stage for 210 hours a year not counting the playoffs. How hard is it not to go all out? For the millions of dollars and the fans in the seats, you would think that would be motivating enough.

But these boys think the world owes them this opportunity. At least Hartley could explain what a factory floor looks like.

The Thrashers are2 points from the worst record in the league and they are playing like they are doing everyone a favor by just showing up.

UGH!!!

And they wonder across the league why we are not showing up to the games. How can the fans show up if the players don’t.

Why all the misery friends? You apologists wanted What’s-His-Name back in goal. Well, you got him! Live with it. Sink or swim. Right? Glub! Just now got online to view final score. Just what I expected! Another mail-in job. When the damn Finn is in goal I want foes to hang 10 on scoreboard. Expect for team of Cindy Crosby. Maybe just nine for them! Hey guys, players have quit on us just as they did last season. Do not get upset about it. They are not! Just join in the joy of the Falcon season. The Thrashers will be booted out of town soon enough. The sooner the better! Merry Christmas one and all. God bless us every one. Except for WIN and the other Toiletlid commode residue quitters! Now back to Packers-Bears. Not even angry about loss. If the team does not give a damn then why should I/we? 11:14 p.m. and outta here.

Sorry, before I sign out. Do not criticize Ilya “Bags Are Packed” Kovalchuk you fair weather hero worshippers. He is doing a superb Maryann Hossa imitation until he can escape Atlanta in the shadow of night. The time to look for exit is when he tells fans he is going nowhere. Sort of like the dreaded vote of confidence for a coach. The Russian quit long ago. That has been obvious! Why feign surprise now? Sorry again for intrusion. Go back to discussions of how close the team was tonight. Hey, at least they lost by less than a touchdown! Barely. GO SAINTS!

Bears win in OT! Just checked in to see any responses to my comments. WOW! Guess everyone else is as fed up with these ball-less quitters as I am! That is a surprise. Please listen to me friends. Swap Toiletlids player-for-player for Wolves. Win total may not improve but effort sure as Hell will. The youngsters will try on big stage! What about netminding? WHN will allow four or more goals per outing. Completely untalented. Probably best he can muster. Another in first minute? Sigh. Young players will hit rivals, crash the net and create havoc! A few Hanson Brothers will liven things up. Only hope left. This is a serious recommendation. No heart or fight in any of current players. True? Best to all!

The Thrashers slept soundly in front of a Philips Arena crowd announced as 16,413 people

I can’t believe they announced a crowd of 16,413, that is hilarious! The Toronto broadcast repeatedly showed all the empty seats around the arena, there could not have been more than 9,000 in attendance.

The announcers correctly commented on why there were empty seats. They said that the fans would not tolerate year after year of losing and correctly pointed out that if they built a winning club, the fans would come back. Nothing about “hockey won’t make it in this market” or other such nonsense. They simply addressed the basic facts.

I got an IDEA! Kovy needs to take a break. JA should not let him play 4 games - Carolina, Boston, Tornto, Carolina. Why does he need to do that. It is simple. If Don is going to trade Kovy, the team need to play with out Super Star. It will be good practice. Any way, they are nothing to loose. If they win 3 games with out Kovy, means team can do something with out Super Star, if they loose all games, they just will go to botton on the table. It is make sence. Kovy said taht Team did not have Talented Players. He is absolutly right. We have to try to win with out him.

I’m going to be optomistic after hearing the annouced attendance of 16,413. I was really worried as a a season ticket holder in the club section. Not many people were coming to games, lines are being closed early or not even opened and the Spirit removed the desert setup altogether and drink prices are higher this year. I just know with that level of attendance and the savings from service cut backs, they’re really going to make some big trades to improve from next to last. They’ve got the money and cap space. Always optomistic!!!! Cause DW always does the right thing, right?

Well if the Leaf fans would have chipped in it would have been louder. 100 Thrasher fans chanting “Fire Waddell” accomplishes nothing Alan. You need the 10,000 Leaf fans that were there to chip in and help out, you know?

Forgive intrusion. I finally got to see what Ilya “Superstars Do Not Hustle” Kovalchuk did, or more aptly, failed to do, on Leaf goal. Such actions simply must not be tolerated! From any paid professionals. Please bench him for a few games as a punishment. He has not been worth a damn this season anyway! Do not issue a “C” this year. Might be a great idea to take back all the “A”s too. No leaders in this bunch! Kovy wants a trade (yes). Ship Russian quitter to Detroit, Lions not Wings, where he will fit right in with all the other professionals who have quit on fans. Hukkam Liveuk Peelak!

You need the 10,000 Leaf fans that were there to chip in and help out, you know?

I do know. It’s what I’ve been saying all along — we need to go in the arena, no matter how we get in, and we need to create a firestorm that will bring the house down. We need a strong and coordinated effort that can’t simply be drowned out by some clown wearing a bird suit and beating a drum.

It’s good that it was heard on TV… that was my point. The movement is starting to get more exposure. Now, the next step is to get more people to participate.

By Bob

I’ve been told by several people today that the “Fire Waddell” chant was heard on TV. Did you watch the game long enough to hear it? And if so, did the Toronto boys comment on it?

I couldn’t hear it, I could only hear some boos starting with about 1 1/2 minutes left. The Tronna announcers then said “their fans are booing them now” and I didn’t notice the Fire Waddell chant, but I wish I had!

I disagree about going. It’s like a bad radio announcer that you don’t like. Don’t listen, cause if you do, the owners don’t care if you love him or hate him, you’re listening. All the Spirit boys will see is the gate receipts and food/drink sales if you go and that’ll make them happy. The impetus for change is going to be the empty seats and the lack of income for them. Money talks.

So DW thinks that the team is doing ok and would be right in the thick of the playoff race (at least that is what it sounded like he was referring to) if the team would only play 60 minutes each game. So everything is fine and he is looking for players that would be waived due to salary cap…courtesy of the game broadcast on 680.
