Christensen aims for next week

Thrashers forward Erik Christensen skated today and said his injured right shoulder felt better than his legs, which hadn’t been on the ice since he got hurt eight days ago at Montreal. Christensen originally hurt the shoulder last season, re-injured it early this season and then hurt it again Dec. 2. It’s a subluxation, a step below a dislocation but painful and damaging nonetheless. Here’s the problem: Each time he re-injures the shoulder, he suddenly loses strength in the shoulder, and it takes time to rebuild that strength. An MRI has shown he has nothing worse than bruising, Christensen said, and the hope is that if he can get the many muscles in the shoulder strong enough the problem will go away.

Strangely enough, Christensen said, one way to avoid re-injury is for him to hit with his shoulders rather than with his lower arms, as he did in the game at Montreal.

He hopes to be able to play Tuesday at Ottawa or, at worst, two days later when his former team the Pittsburgh Penguins come to Philips Arena.

Tonight against the New York Rangers, the Thrashers have Johan Hedberg in net, riding a 28-shot save streak from Saturday’s victory over the New York Islanders.

The rest of the lineup:

Kozlov-White-Little

Kovalchuk-Reasoner-Thorburn

Armstrong-Williams-Perrin

Boulton-Slater-Crabb

Hainsey-Exelby

Enstrom-Oystrick

Havelid-Valabik

If Christyensen were traded back to Pittsburgh, would his shoulder get better?

I agree JOKER… CHRISTENA is a total waste of a roster spot… PIT used to call him “Crusher” which is absoulutely hilarious, because this guy is the softest guy on our team… LOL

Personally, I can’t wait until we trade him along with JENNY SLATER and ERICA PERRIN so we can move on actually let our prospects develop in this So-Called “Build Year”…

BTW, still waiting for saomeone to provide me a link where Waddell states that this is a build year for us. I’ve never seen it. The only people talking about a build year are the bloggers…

So if Waddell thinks this is NOT a Build Year, what is it??? Can he “guarantee” us the playoffs again??? If we finish in the basement again will he THEN say “Well, this was a build year anyways”???

LOL - The sooner you people realize this guy is a fraud, the better off your lives as Thrashers fans will be…

NUFF SAID.

Dave, I think you are too hard on Slater. The guy is a fourth liner and considering his size I think he does fine. I agree that Christensen has been a dissappointment and that Perrin is not playing nearly as well as he was, but who is? Kozlov has slowed down, Little has evened out and Kovy STILL hasn’t shown up. Those are the people to blame.

Perrin is asked to do a different job on an almost nightly basis. Last season he was given more of a “top-6” role because, after the Hossa deal, we simply didn’t have anyone else that could reasonably be expected to produce as a scoring forward.

I seem to recall that he, Army & Chrushed made a pretty effective line. But that may just be incorrect. I’m ok with his point-production given his TOI and the near-constant line shuffling.

I’d like to see him work with someone who can finish on the PK-or at least fake it really well (yes I am thinking of someone similar to a Dupuis).

But what’s one good ol’ boy’s opinion worth?

Tony, my thoughts exactly (and yes, that line did very well). I’m glad to see Perrin set on the third — I expect we’ll see that line’s production go up.

Score 2-2 early in third period. Moose Lehtonen whiffs in shorthanded goal. Way to go Moosie! Hate f+cking overrated Ranjerks.

Ilya “Bags are Packed” Kovalchuk had the whole f+cking left side of the net to shoot at from point blank range! What the Hell was he doing? Trying NOT to score? The damn Russian succeeded! Can you say overrated?

Another gutless display by a heartless group. Far from being a damn team! Damn sons of b+tch quitters! Ilya “Bags Are Packed” Kovalchuk most overrated nothing in NHL. This loser could not score into an empty net if he was the only guy on the f+cking ice! A true star would have netted three or four goals this night.** Not this Russian bust! Totally unacceptable defeat. Celebrate on apologists for another close choke job! Good old untalented Moose Lehtonen could not wait to get the game finished once it reached overtime. Only 18 seconds? Damn son of a b+tch! Hey John Petrino. That no-score offense of yours is still f+cking working! F+ck all of these MF CS CM SOB Mike Vick clones.

Bench Moose Lehtonen forever! Play Kari Pavs from here on out no matter how many goal he gives up. The Ranjerks put a shorthanded goal past Moosoe then net one 18 second into OT. **I sure as Hell have seen more than enough of this untalented son of a b+tch sieve! Toiletlids sound completely ignorant in interviews. Damn b+stards!

It’s a point, in a “build year,” against the better and deeper team. The Rangers are going to make the playoffs. The Rangers may win their division. The Thrashers may avoid the lottery draft. Then again, they may win the lottery draft.

If you have grandchildren, would you want them reading profanity?

You can make your point without being vulgar.

The announcers were joyous over the imminent return of good old What’s-His Name! Will not be for long. Next phantom injury just around the corner. What a perfect f+cking way to top off a totally s+itty night in Loseland! John Petrino is resigned to not winning any more games. That was evident in his eyes during another whiny post disaster interview. Still say he COULD win with Wolves at this level. F+ck what apologists think! No one can win with worthless oxygen waste quitters he has on this group. Again, not a team in any form, shape or fashion! Evelyn Kovalchuk needs to go. True goal scorers do not continually miss opportunities like this bum does! Over and over and over again.

Thank you Rev Stroz. Merry Christmas to you too. I have three wonderful grandchildren. Know you enjoyed another close loss. Maybe you should suit up. Sounds like you have loser mentality of a Toiletlid. No criticism of boys in blue? People like you are the reason losing like this is tolerated and even embraced. Do not worry, your savior What’s-His-Name will be back in net soon. Giving up his customary five goals per outing. Amen.

stendec - If you actually read my posts, you would realize that I have advocated the removal of Waddell for a considerable period of time.

The Thrashers will continue to wallow in mediocrity or worse until Waddell is gone.

Guess who drafted you favorite player? Waddell.

To Rev Stroz and Alex. Alexandria? Moose was simply wonderful in goal. Sun got in his eye on that shorthanded tally. Monkey puck eluded him 15 seconds into overtime. Neither one was his fault. Moose did not really allow a legitimate goal all night. Has not surrendered one his entire Hall of Fame career. Nice effort big guy. Future Hall of Famer Ilya Kovalchuk decided to make a fantastic shot to the left side of the goal (his right) which was completely covered by the Ranger goaltender. His superior sportsmanship allowed a stop. Going to the other entire open side of net would not have been very Christian-like. Do not want to embarrass the opposition. It is Christmas time. Well done my Russian pal. None of the Thrashers broke a sweat for 60 minutes plus a few seconds but it is not their fault. They are all to be highly commended. They only lost by a goal. They played hard. They never gave up. The game could have gone either way. Sweethearts all! Or, as my Uncle Ebeneezer used to say, bah humbug. God bless us every one. Especially you two (Stroz Edit) apologists.

Glad to hear Donny W show confidence in Kovalchuck. Of course I don’t believe a word he says, trade rumors usually have some truth behind them, so it wouldn’t surprise me if he didn’t at least field offers from other teams to see what Kovy’s value is. But I’m glad Kovy is hear to stay, for now anyway.

As for the game tonight, another disappointing loss, but at least we got a point out of it. This just shows that when the team plays hard they can compete with the best teams in the NHL. Now they just need to be more consistent.

Have you always been an abusive drunk?

How often are the police called to your residence?

Do your children stay away from you like the plague at Thanksgiving and Christmas because they don’t know what you’ll say in front of their children?

Did you ever hold down a job for more than a year?

If Donny said this, Kovy will be traded next week for three fourth line AHL forwards and one third line ECHL defenseman.

I have no problem with criticism. That goal by Moose was unbelievably soft as I already said.

I just think that expressing your opinion on a news organizations website, without using profanity, is the reasonable thing to do. I’m a college student, I can’t go two sentances without cussing, but I don’t feel the need to put that stuff on the AJC blog when it really adds nothing to your statement.

There is a reason why there are language filters. The fact that you, as a grandfather none the less, see such an urgent need to use creative spelling in an attempt to get around them is frankly a little sad.

MOOSE 3, RANGERS 0 THRASHERS 2 at least KL would have taken the stick if his had broke(first goal), KL would not have cleared the puck right into the chest of a ranger(2nd goal) and what in the HELL was he thinking on the 3rd goal??? he pushed it right to gomer.
