Get ready to rumble
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
OK, I’m back. And just in time for the most game-intensive stretch of the season.
The Thrashers play six games in nine days, bookended by a a pair of on-the-road back-to-backs. Tuesday and Wednesday in Toronto and Washington followed by Friday vs. Nashville, Sunday vs. St. Louis and Tuesday and Wednesday in Montreal and Ottawa. My fingers get tired just typing it.
(My quads already are tired from Sunday’s marathon. I finished in 3:33, five minutes off my personal best, six minutes off my goal pace, but at least a good bit of exercise on a beautiful day in Philadelphia. Thanks for the well wishes in my previous blog post. Next race: Callaway Gardens, during all-star weekend.)
With so many games in so few days, there should be a chance for Joey Crabb’s NHL debut, plus a game or two for Boris Valabik. The plan is to put Johan Hedberg in net on Tuesday and Ondrej Pavelec on Wednesday.

with your title, I figured Hoffman was called up, damn. At least that would have been entertaining.
They need a win against Toronto to get this stretch off to a good start, or it could get ugly (uglier?).

Hm, Moose will start at Tuesday and Pavs will be against Ovechkin. Interesting! Actually, I have no idea what they have to do to win a Game. After they lost for Columbus and three on the road, I am thinking that we will see our team goes down for couple games and win vs Nashville. Yeah, We are moving in Right Direction…..

Mike I’m more curious what practice has been like. The guys have to be aggravated as all heck to be losing games by so small a margin. I think a blow-out might be easier to take than constant one-goal losses (with the occasional EN thrown in for good measure). Any more line changes coming from Coach - or perhaps might he go back to what was working before instead of panic-line-shuffling?

I also thought the title was referring to Hoffman…
Any update on a promotion for Hoffman now that he can fight? He dropped his opponent in his first fight for CHI a few nights ago..

Knobs glad you had a good run, I would’ve had a stroke, but thats another story! John 10 and Bob stole my thunder, I thought Hoffman was on the way!! No doubt this is a critical week, I hope we come with some wins. Is there anyword on Hoffman coming up? I believe we need a bit of toughness up here.

Better get Hoffman up here and ready for Wash. They’ll have the goons out for us. Sit the supposed tough guys- Boulton and Thorburn who appear to believe that this is the Ice Capades.

I will ask about Hoffman. For now, though, the question seems to be how will Joey Crabb do and when will he get a chance to do it? When I spoke with Crabb last week, he said he sees his role as bringing energy. He was having a good season in Chicago, and he’s eager.

Crabb was second or third in points for Chicago, if I’m not mistaken. He did well in the training camp, stuck around during the preseason, and knows Anderson’s system due to his years in Chicago.
For the third or fourth line he’s an excellent choice. He might not be the enforcer Hoffman is, but he’s much more effective otherwise. Eventually I’d like to see him, LaVallee, and Stuart getting more and more time on those lower lines…ideally due to the current people being packaged for an upgrade.
Speaking of upgrades, Toronto traded for Lee Stempniak from St. Louis for Steen and Colaiacovo. Two decent players for a possible upgrade…not a bad move in my opinion, but Toronto stands a good chance to regret this move in a few years time.

ranallo does TO ever not do something they don’t later regret?

Hmm…that’s a hard question Sara, but firing John Ferguson Jr. shouldn’t be something they regret anytime soon, in my opinion.
