Prospects lose in tourney final
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Dallas pulled away from a 3-3 tie second-period tie for an 8-3 victory over the Thrashers Wednesday night in the final of the Traverse City Prospect Evaluation Tournament.
Zach Bogosian, Angelo Esposito and Danick Paquette scored for the Thrashers, who finished the tournament 3-1. Spencer Machacek averaged a point a game to lead the team, with two goals and two assists.
The game will be televised Thursday at 10 p.m. on the NHL Network.
Also Thursday, Thrashers general manager Don Waddell and coach John Anderson will address the media about the upcoming season. I’ll report to you from that Thursday afternoon.

Watching the Red Wings Thrashers prospect game and they were interviewing Red Wing GM Holland. He was discussing how the teams have a max of 50 contracts. Does anyone know the 50 contracts the Thrashers have? Mike, could you get that list and post it?

Can’t wait to get these guys into the big camp! Glad to hear that some of our impact guys scored again. It should be fun watching these guys develop into NHL caliber players.

Tom: Holly at Hockeys Future general keeps up with the Thrashers contracts and the maximum. She might have that info.

Watched last night’s broadcast of the game against the Wings. Bogosian didn’t look as dominating as I thought he would, but then I remembered he just turned 18 and man, he looks real good for an 18 yr. old, that kid is going to be a good dman for this club.
I liked Machachek, kid has a nose for the puck. And Esposito was certainly trying his best, but I have a feeling he’s going to be overwhelmed at camp. He looked like a good couple of years of bulking up would help him tremendously, but he has the raw skills for sure.

Dallas’ goalie (Tyler Beskorowany) blocked 35 of 38 shots in that championship game. Carrozzi blocked 20 of 28.
Only four players on the Thrashers were not in the negative +/-, Bogosian, Holzapfel, Siddal, Bartlett. All had a 0 +/- in the game.
Bogosian’s PP goal and PP assist were the only points for him in the tournament.

It speaks well for our prospects that they advanced this far in the tournament.

Honestly, I was pleasantly surprised by Holzapfel as well as Siddal…
I get the feeling that Esposito is kind of at the “doesn’t know he’s a Big Bad Bear” stage f his career (if you miss the reference, watch “Swingers” w/ Vince Vaughn). I think he’s starting to realize it too.
I’m anxious to see how he plays with NHLers as big-boy camp starts up this weekend.
Kulda, again was solid-took some bad penalties, but I also think the refs were whistle-happy on more than one occasion-truthfully I would rather it be that way so the kids don’t learn to rely on “bad habits” picked up in the college or juniors level.
Wooo-hoo
Big-Boy camp in a few days!
GO BLUE !!!
Oh, and Boges is gonna be NASTY….can’t wait til he’s 21 (this is presupposing he’ll have had 2+ NHL seasons under his belt @ that time). But maybe going back to Juniors isn’t the worst thing that could happen to him, as the AHL won’t touch him for another 2 years.

You mean carrozzi only faced 28 shots. That’s usually 2 periods worth when the regular season starts
