It’s hockey season in Saskatoon

The TV may be full of Olympic coverage, the AJC packed with football stories, but they’re playing hockey in Saskatchewan. And from this article, it looks like Thrashers forward Colby Armstrong has been having fun.

Thrashers free agent acquisition Marty Reasoner is the oldest of three brothers, and while Marty and Adam, Boston College’s goalie the past two seasons, chose hockey, middle brother David gave up the sport to become a golf club pro. “The swing itself is pretty similar, so it was an easy transition,” David told The Record of Bergen County, N.J. “[My brothers] can hit it 300 yards, but it doesn’t go straight.” Marty hopes to make headlines this season, but David is in the spotlight this week, when the PGA Tour comes to his course.

Colby’s going to be easy to root for, the Pens fans loved him.

Whenever I hear “Saskatoon,” I think of two things. (1) The St. Louis Blues possible relocation there many, many years ago and (2) The movie “Slapshot,” when the song “A little bit South … of Saskatoon” was playing.

Colby Armstrong seems to always have fun. Does he remind anyone else of Dan Snyder? Not so much in appearance but that wacky energy he exudes.

RS - Agreed, and in the way he plays hard, no matter what. Which may be what helps this team and Kovy in particular teh most this season, if they are done in terms of off-season improvements.

It is hockey season in Saskatoon 365 days of the year and 366 days in a leap your. In Canada hockey is our religion. Looking forward to the start of the season and want to see the Thrashers in the playoffs. As for Dan Snyder may he rest in peace. He was a local boy and his character and personalty is still very much missed.
